    well just rent the dvd and see. Don't buy it because I made the mistake of buying it and I had to sell it to a dvd collector and I didn't get much for it.

    I love the way these people remain true to their characters from the past.
    They help each other survive being rescued from their paradise, only to realize that they still need each other.
    They eventually have a reunion like most families do (or should).
    All the originals are great actors who are total professionals at being Gilligan's themselves.
    They are a true American family on or off the Island, on and off the screen too.

    4 out of 5 stars Could Have Been Better, But Had More Pluses Than Minuses........2007-02-12

    First, this idea would have been enough to fill a 75 minute, and maybe a 90 minute time slot. Unfortunately, they had two hours of TV time (94 minutes sans commercials) to use up.

    Second, Judith Baldwin was adequate as Ginger, but Tina Louise was Ginger, even if she wanted nothing to do with reunions. By the way, I think its neat that the surviving original cast (excluding Louise) seem to be close and enjoy being together. It showed in this. And Bob Denver is at his best.

    Third, when my wife and I watched this, it has been years since seeing the original, and she didn't think the original was that silly; I pointed out it was. But that is the best thing about it: it was designed for those who loved the original, and it fit the bill.

    Fourth, this movie clearly illustrates the goal of the series. The cast consisted of people from all walks of lives, and how people can learn to get along with each other.

    Fifth, when it got going, this movie had great ideas. What interested me about this was it dealt with the characters adjusting to real life, and it did that very well. The other plot, the Russians trying to get the disk back from Gilligan, was hilarious, and Vincent Schiavelli and Art LeFleur were excellent as Dimitri and Ivan.

    Sixth, the ending was designed to allow for more reunion movies. Nothing more. And that was disappointing.

    First shown in 1987.
    Yes. The castaways are finally rescued, but that is just the beginning. Now they have to get their life back together and adjust to life in America since they have been away for 15 years. The hard part now is saying "Goodbye" to one another after relying on each other all those years.
    All of the original cast members from Gilligan's Island return (except one): Alan Hale Jr, Bob Denver, Jim backus, Natalie Schaffer and Dawn Wells. Judith Baldwin plays "Ginger".
    Note: You will notice that the special effects, props and set decoration is still like a Grade-B movie. That is done on purpose for the true fans.

    Jim Backus died July 3, 1989.
    Alan Hale Jr died January 9, 1990.
    Natalie Schaffer died April 10, 1991.
    Bob Denver died September 2, 2005.

    This DVD from Digiview Productions plays like a rough cut of the tv-movie. There are no starting or ending credit either. Let's hope that someone will release a better quality print, perhaps in Blu-ray.

    A good cast of 80's characters. Unfortunately, this movie belongs in the 80's.

    This is a typical high school 80's movie. It is not a very good movie because it is so predictible and full of clichés. On the other hand, for nostalgia reasons and for the fun of seeing again some teen actors that we liked then and some that became famous accomplished actors (such as Michael J. Fox among others) I would recommend it. Moreover, if we compare this movie with today's teen comedies (that are often more vulgar and gross than funny), this movie is not that bad. There is a certain innocence that makes this movie sweet. Although I doubt today's teenagers will like it, High School USA may bring back good memories for peoples between the age of 25 and 35.

    I've never heard of this movie before. I liked Michael J. Fox from his Family Ties days. This looked like a funny and interesting movie to watch. Which it was by the way. I don't suggest buying this because this is not something you would watch more than once in my opinion. I think it would be better to rent it if you want to watch it. Still a good movie.

    My older brother taped this off of TV years ago and it always became a running joke amongst myself and my siblings. I was so excited to see it put onto DVD. The movie itself is pure camp, but that it what makes it so enjoyable. It is the epitome of 80's made-for-tv-movies with all the great stars of that time. I highly recommend this for a laugh.

    I had this movie on tape from tv probably close to 18 years ago...? Maybe that long...? Anyway, I lost the tape of course and could never remember the name of this movie. I was shocked to see this on Amazon for such a low price. If you like 80's movies with pretty much every great 80's up & commers actors/actresses, buy this!!! If you can't appreciate JJ Manners charm than why are you even reading this?

    One of the funniest of the great all-star cast comedies (even if it doesn't have the total star wattage of movies like It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World and The Great Race)is so overdue for DVD release. Please remaster this one, letterbox it, and do it right... and do it soon!

    I totally agree with Sonny. Why a movie this funny has not been released on DVD when lower caliber films are clogging up video store shelves is a mystery to me. As far as comedies go, WMTM has got to be in the top 10.

    It has been many years since I've seen this movie, but I will never forget the good time I had in watching it. It is a crying shame that WMTM is being allowed to fade in the memories of those who saw it and loved it. Hollywood, are you listening?

    Who's Minding The Mint is one of those all-star cast heist comedies, funnier than Ocean's Eleven, but with lower-caliber stars.

A paper cutter, Dorothy Provine (The 30 Foot Bride of Candy Rock), is interested in him romantically, so keeps giving him her awful fudge. Nervous under the eye of his boss, a pompous overbearing self-indulgent imitation dictator, Hutton accidently brushes a stack of bills ($50,000 worth) into a bag of her fudge, which he later empties into his garbage disposal. Hutton doesn't think his boss, a pompous overbearing self-indulgent imitation dictator, will believe him, and decides it should be simple enough to print replacement bills - after all, he works in the mint, right? But as he puts together his plan, a growing number of apparently barely competent partners is gradually assembled, including Jack Gilford (Cocoon), Milton Berle (The Muppet Movie), Bob Denver (Gilligan's Island), Jamie Farr (MASH), Walter Brennan (3-time Oscar winner; The Westerner, To Have and Have Not, Sergeant York, Meet John Doe, Goodbye My Lady, etc.), Joey Bishop (Ocean's Eleven), Victor Buono (Man From Atlantis). They are all required for their various skills to assemble a boat and navigate it through the sewers to sneak into the mint after hours, retrieve plates from a safe, print and cut the money, and get away undetected. Of course, they all require a share of the loot. And of course, not everything goes exactly as planned. The first time I saw Who's Minding The Mint, when I was a kid, I thought it was one of the funniest movies ever. I will admit that after repeated viewing some of the comedy seems trite. But it should be funny if you've never seen it before, and is still of interest to trivia buffs, for the massive cast listed above.

    * - WACKIEST WAGON TRAIN IN THE WEST (1976)
    A three episode compilation movie of something called `Dusty's Trail', a Bob Denver television series that ran for one season, 1973. Co-created by `Gilligan's Island' creator Sherwood Schwartz it's pretty much `Gilligan's Island' on the range. Dusty is a bumbling yet lovable scout, Mr. Callahan (Forrest Tucker) is the burly yet lovable wagon master. Along for the ride is a millionaire and his wife, a sweet brunette, a saucy dance hall girl, and a know-it-all regular guy. Boy, there's an original combination! No story line in this one, just repeated excuses for one lame brained slapstick routine after the other. If watching Dusty get pulled off a buckboard because he forgot to latch the seat, or try and fail to get on a horse, or get chased by a man in a bear suit strikes you as funny then look no farther. From someone who never got the appeal of `Gilligan's Island' I thought this one was just dreadful

    * - FAIR PLAY (1972)
    Yet another dreadful made-for-tv movie. FAIR PLAY was directed by James A. Sullivan, who directed one other movie - `Night Fright', a low-rated John Agar vehicle from 1967 - and was editor on what some consider the worst movie ever made, `Manos the Hands of Fate.' FAIR PLAY stars veteran character actor Paul Ford as the hotel owning western uncle of a visiting eastern greenhorn. The plot, as far as I could tell, had something to do with a store owner trying to brew trouble between Ford and a local mine owner. Extremely un-funny and close to unwatchable. Filled with tired, cliché ridden characters. Paul Ford was a good character actor with a solid résumé - whatever induced him to star in this turkey is beyond me. An embarrassment that gets one-star only because this site doesn't allow me to give it any fewer.

    **** - TERROR OF TINY TOWN (1938)
    One of the strangest exploitation films ever made. Directed by Sam Newfield, a prolific (272 career movies directed), anonymous and undistinguished Hollywood veteran who'd already directed about 120 movies when he helmed this one. Odd, too, that it was distributed by Columbia Pictures. Of course, the gag is that the movie features an all-midget cast. The plot would have been very familiar to a 30's audience - the bad guy is rustling cattle simultaneously from two feuding families, causing the firebrands in the feuding families to wrongly suspect the other family which, the bad guy hopes, will lead to an open range war. In other words a familiar b-western plot, the kind of movie Newfield was then churning out with numbing regularity. Billy Curtis as `The Hero' and Little Billy Rhodes as `The Villain' are pretty credible. Curtis even gets a chance to unsling his guitar and serenade `The Girl' (Yvonne Moray) in the grand tradition of Gene Autry and Roy Rogers. TERROR OF TINY TOWN does use the cast's short stature for comic effect now and then - it takes two cowboys to play an upright bass, a bartender empties a glass of beer in one take, and half the crew can walk under the swinging doors of the bar without ducking - but with no large person in the cast I found the novelty of an all-midget cast wear off some and the acting and action take over. Believe it or not Billy Curtis makes a pretty convincing singing cowboy hero. Minus the novelty TERROR OF TINY TOWN was a decent enough b-western. I liked it quite a bit more than I thought I would.

    I bought this dvd because, at the time, it was the only way to get TERROR OF TINY TOWN, a movie I'd been looking for for a while. I liked TERROR, but WACKIEST WAGON TRAIN and FAIR PLAY were terrible movies, time wasters of the worst sort. The two-stars I give this disk is simple addition (* + * + ****) and division by three.

    i have this "movie"(3 episodes of dusty's trail a short lived gilligan's island western clone) as part of a double feature with rescue from gilligan's island and i show it to my boys and they love it. this is 3 episodes not found on the almost complete first season collection. you'll love it or hate it but you will not sit on the fence. if you give it a chance it's silly family fun.

    GILLIGAN'S ISLAND goes way out west is the best way to describe this alleged "comedy", which is actually several DUSTY'S TRAIL (a deservedly obscure syndicated 70s sitcom) episodes stitched together to approximate a full length feature film. Instead of seven hapless castaways marooned on a tropical isle, you get the same number of folk in a wagon train lost out in the wilderness. Rather than Bob Denver as bumbling, clueless first mate Gilligan, the actor stretches---this time portraying bumbling, clueless trail scout Dusty. Perhaps Alan Hale was too heavy to stay on a horse, but you DO get authentic western actor Forrest Tucker as the exasperated, but protective wagonmaster, a cross between the Skipper and his Sgt. O'Rourke character from F TROOP. That underrated frontier sitcom and GILLIGAN'S ISLAND are absolute masterstrokes of genious compared to this. Along for the ride are a stuffy rich couple, with ROOM 222 regular Ivor Francis (GENERAL HOSPITAL cutie Genie Francis' pop) putting on his best Thurston Howell III face, not to mention an intelligent guy, and a couple of babes, played by a couple of the PETTICOAT JUNCTION babes. The plots are direct GILLIGAN retreads, the production values laughable (the only thing that is), and the Indians are a far cry from the hilarious scene-stealers that inhabited F TROOP. In spite of it all, the kitsch value here and the truly desperate attempt to re-sell a show that nobody admits watching but that's still in reruns three decades later brings a little smile to my face. The fact that I own THE WACKIEST WAGON TRAIN IN THE WEST on DVD (a double feature with RESCUE FROM GILLIGAN'S ISLAND no less!) says much about my "so bad it's great" outlook on pop culture. RATING: TWO BAD

      I love the way these people remain true to their characters from the past.
      They help each other survive being rescued from their paradise, only to realize that they still need each other.
      They eventually have a reunion like most families do (or should).
      All the originals are great actors who are total professionals at being Gilligan's themselves.
      They are a true American family on or off the Island, on and off the screen too.

      4 out of 5 stars Could Have Been Better, But Had More Pluses Than Minuses........2007-02-12

      First, this idea would have been enough to fill a 75 minute, and maybe a 90 minute time slot. Unfortunately, they had two hours of TV time (94 minutes sans commercials) to use up.

      Second, Judith Baldwin was adequate as Ginger, but Tina Louise was Ginger, even if she wanted nothing to do with reunions. By the way, I think its neat that the surviving original cast (excluding Louise) seem to be close and enjoy being together. It showed in this. And Bob Denver is at his best.

      Third, when my wife and I watched this, it has been years since seeing the original, and she didn't think the original was that silly; I pointed out it was. But that is the best thing about it: it was designed for those who loved the original, and it fit the bill.

      Fourth, this movie clearly illustrates the goal of the series. The cast consisted of people from all walks of lives, and how people can learn to get along with each other.

      Fifth, when it got going, this movie had great ideas. What interested me about this was it dealt with the characters adjusting to real life, and it did that very well. The other plot, the Russians trying to get the disk back from Gilligan, was hilarious, and Vincent Schiavelli and Art LeFleur were excellent as Dimitri and Ivan.

      Sixth, the ending was designed to allow for more reunion movies. Nothing more. And that was disappointing.

      First shown in 1987.
      Yes. The castaways are finally rescued, but that is just the beginning. Now they have to get their life back together and adjust to life in America since they have been away for 15 years. The hard part now is saying "Goodbye" to one another after relying on each other all those years.
      All of the original cast members from Gilligan's Island return (except one): Alan Hale Jr, Bob Denver, Jim backus, Natalie Schaffer and Dawn Wells. Judith Baldwin plays "Ginger".
      Note: You will notice that the special effects, props and set decoration is still like a Grade-B movie. That is done on purpose for the true fans.

      Jim Backus died July 3, 1989.
      Alan Hale Jr died January 9, 1990.
      Natalie Schaffer died April 10, 1991.
      Bob Denver died September 2, 2005.

      This DVD from Digiview Productions plays like a rough cut of the tv-movie. There are no starting or ending credit either. Let's hope that someone will release a better quality print, perhaps in Blu-ray.

      The lagoon could not sustain life. Bob and Alan put a fish in it and it instantly died.

      Tina Louise was tricked onto the show by her manager. She was under the impression that it was her show.

      Mrs. Howell had no breasts.

      At 94 years old, Mary Ann is still hot.

      Bob Denver sold his soul to the devil for eternal life, but looks like a mummy.

      Russel Johnson, the professor can invent anything except for a diet pill. The guy weighs 450 pounds.

      Although this comedy was not well received at first, to this day it is still shown all over the world and in many different languages. This DVD tells the story of seven castaways from beginning to end. Reinactments give you a visualization of how the show came about and why it was such a success. Picture quality is superior. A must see for Gilligan's Isle fans!

      What a wonderful, wonderful film this is! "Gilligan's Island" was my favorite television show when I was a child, and since then I have read several books on the trials and tribulations of getting it on the air. This film was new to me - it has not been shown on T.V. in England. I am so impressed with the production standards, and the actors and actresses portraying the various people involved with the original series, while not being carbon copies of them, suggest them very well. It's also great to see Dawn Wells, Russell Johnson and Bob Denver helping with the narration. As well as this excellent film, which is very moving in parts, the dvd also comes with some great extras, including home movies and a very challenging trivia quiz! I would recommend this dvd to anybody who loves "Gilligan's Island". It is, quite simply, fabulous!

      This show was perfection. Anyone who enjoys the classic show Gilligan's Island MUST see this Documentary. The re-enactments were great. Much better then just showing pictures and old clips. It shows how the show was created having look alike characters play the parts of the original cast. These actors were very entertaining. Especially when I wasn't too excited about seeing new actors filling the roles. But it turned out to be perfect. The DVD menus and extras are themed very closely to the show and make for some fun amusement. This just makes me want all 3 seasons from the original series on DVD even more. I cannot wait for that day to come. All Gilligan Island lovers must own this DVD.

      This was a TV Special that was on last year in November I think. I taped it off the TV, but it would be nice to get it on DVD without commercials (there were a lot i believe).

      Very Nice. Hosted By Dawn Wells (Mary Ann Summers), Bob Denver (Willy Gilligan), & Russell Johnson (Proffesor Roy Hinkley "The Proffesor"). It includes re-enactments of things that happend behind the scenes.

      I have a Gilligan website. I had known about their real names like Willy Gilligan and Roy Hinkley, and Mrs. Howell's name (Eunice Wentworth (Lovey) Howell), and the Skipper Jonas Grumby's name. Now they announced the whole Willy thing on this and now everyone thinks that's the only way I knew.

      It was a great special. I'm really glad they're releasing it on DVD. I hope they'll release all the episodes, and the other two movies, The Castaways on Gilligan's Island, and The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligans Island on DVD. They're not even on VHS. Hopefully the quality on those will be better than the rescue from gilligans island dvd. I heard that wasn't very good. I have that on VHS.

      A good cast of 80's characters. Unfortunately, this movie belongs in the 80's.

      This is a typical high school 80's movie. It is not a very good movie because it is so predictible and full of clichés. On the other hand, for nostalgia reasons and for the fun of seeing again some teen actors that we liked then and some that became famous accomplished actors (such as Michael J. Fox among others) I would recommend it. Moreover, if we compare this movie with today's teen comedies (that are often more vulgar and gross than funny), this movie is not that bad. There is a certain innocence that makes this movie sweet. Although I doubt today's teenagers will like it, High School USA may bring back good memories for peoples between the age of 25 and 35.

      I've never heard of this movie before. I liked Michael J. Fox from his Family Ties days. This looked like a funny and interesting movie to watch. Which it was by the way. I don't suggest buying this because this is not something you would watch more than once in my opinion. I think it would be better to rent it if you want to watch it. Still a good movie.

      My older brother taped this off of TV years ago and it always became a running joke amongst myself and my siblings. I was so excited to see it put onto DVD. The movie itself is pure camp, but that it what makes it so enjoyable. It is the epitome of 80's made-for-tv-movies with all the great stars of that time. I highly recommend this for a laugh.

      I had this movie on tape from tv probably close to 18 years ago...? Maybe that long...? Anyway, I lost the tape of course and could never remember the name of this movie. I was shocked to see this on Amazon for such a low price. If you like 80's movies with pretty much every great 80's up & commers actors/actresses, buy this!!! If you can't appreciate JJ Manners charm than why are you even reading this?
