Pile together a blue-ribbon cast, a screenplay high in quirkiness, and the Sundance stamp of approval, and you've got yourself a crossover indie hit. That formula worked for Little Miss Sunshine, a frequently hilarious study of family dysfunction. Meet the Hoovers, an Albuquerque clan riddled with depression, hostility, and the tattered remnants of the American Dream; despite their flakiness, they manage to pile into a VW van for a weekend trek to L.A. in order to get moppet daughter Olive (Abigail Breslin) into the Little Miss Sunshine beauty pageant. Much of the pleasure of this journey comes from watching some skillful comic actors doing their thing: Greg Kinnear and Toni Collette as the parents (he's hoping to become a self-help authority), Alan Arkin as a grandfather all too willing to give uproariously inappropriate advice to a sullen teenage grandson (Paul Dano), and a subdued Steve Carell as a jilted gay professor on the verge of suicide. The film is a crowd-pleaser, and if anything is a little too eager to bend itself in the direction of quirk-loving Sundance audiences; it can feel forced. But the breezy momentum and the ingenious actors help push the material over any bumps in the road.-- Robert Horton

Description
Take a hilarious ride with the Hoovers, one of the most endearingly fractured families in comedy history. <P>Father Richard (Greg Kinnear) is desperately trying to sell his motivational success program...with no success. Meanwhile, "pro-honesty" mom Sheryl (Toni Collette) lends support to her eccentric family, including her depressed brother (Steve Carell), fresh out of the hospital after being jilted by his lover. Then there are the younger Hoovers?the seven-year-old, would-be beauty queen Olive (Abigail Breslin) and Dwayne (Paul Dano), a Nietzsche-reading teen who has taken a vow of silence. Topping off the family is the foul-mouthed grandfather (Alan Arkin), whose outrageous behavior recently got him evicted from his retirement home. When Olive is invited to compete in the "Little Miss Sunshine" pageant in far-off California, the family piles into their rusted-out VW bus to rally behind her?with riotously funny results.
Customer Reviews:
Just the right amount of sunshine.......2007-06-25
A very funny, occasionally moving and at times disturbing look at a typically dysfunctional family on a road trip to a beauty contest for pre-pubescent girls. The entire cast is great - Alan Arkin won the Oscar, but really any one of the six could have won. What I like about Little Miss Sunshine the most is that it's a feel-good movie that never feels corny or manipulative. The reason being that hovering around the sunshine the film casts are the dark clouds of depression, suicide and failure. The film could be just as easily depressing and dark as it is light, but the two polar opposites keep the other in check. The film isn't perfect - its comments on beauty pageants and America's obsession with winning seem a bit forced, contradictory and weighs down everything else. Despite its flaws, I dare you to watch Little Miss Sunshine without cracking a smile and feeling good. Recommended.
Black Comedy Masterpiece.......2007-06-22
Cynical, sarcastic, biting, dark, this is hands down the funniest movie of 2006. Wonderful movie, great script, great actors, what's not to love? A very smart comedy, which will have you in stitches.
A telling satire of dysfunctional society.......2007-06-21
Critics generally describe this as a comedy about a dysfunctional family. It isn't that at all; it's a biting critique of a dysfunctional society.
The family is actually the only source of support and solace available to the beleagered individuals depicted in the film as they each strive--and painfully fail to reach--the pinnacle of the American Dream: the top spot, the "winner."
The banality of this goal is ruthlessly satirized as the movie progresses. Every conceivable form of American Success with a Capital S is savagely revealed as distorting and empty.
The wholesome Dad swears under his breath as his dream of a motivational-speaker-writer empire crumbles before him; his family is disgusted by his hollow cheerleader motivational patter--the soundtrack, if you will, of the American Dream.
The acerbic grandfather shoots heroin to control his various aches and pains, and rudely defines success as having sex with as many women as possible (hey, it worked for JFK, Bill Clinton and innumerable "sports heroes")--a crass, unwholesome portrayal of the "real American Dream"-- or at least the male one.
The harried, chain-smoking mother is frayed by the insuperable demands of holding the family together while she puts fast-food on the table and rescues her mentally unstable brother.
Her brother, an openly gay aspiring academic superstar, is suicidal because another academic has replaced him as the number one Proust scholar--and snagged his gay lover to boot.
The son, who has taken a vow of silence to express his open hatred of his family, single-mindedly works out in order to achieve his goal of being accepted to the Air Force Academy and becoming a pilot. His dreams are dashed by a weakness beyond his control, and he is inconsolable.
The slightly chubby daughter pursues her dream of winning a sickeningly saccharine talent contest in California, "Little Miss Sunshine." Despite its wholesome veneer, the entire contest is deeply subversive of childhood, a bizarre distortion in which girls are made up to look like small adult women and perform "Miss America" type song-and-dance routines.
The daughter's painfully bawdy routine--a searing exaggeration of the contest's subtext of pushing adulthood onto little girls--draws predictable howls of outrage from the contest authorities, and rallies the family to her side.
When Granddad unexpectedly passes away, the American bureaucracy takes a mirthful beating as the family is forced to sneak the body out of the hospital and load it in their decrepit VW van.
Though other bits of American life get similarly skewered, the key satire is of The American Dream of being a "winner". The film uses satire and parody to draw the distinction between the honor implicit in competing and the pathological emphasis now placed on "winning the top spot" in American society.
Fun, light hearted with conflict and yet constant movement........2007-06-17
I enjoyed this (alot due to Alan Arkin) as it was a very conflicted family with so many problems who go to such lengths to help their daughter reach a dream most likely impossible, and in the end they do just that. It is so funny also, the encounters and what happens along this road to hopeful stardom. Really good movie and highly recommended.
Oddly funny, and funnily odd.......2007-06-17
Little Miss Sunshine is a story of a family that makes a cross country trip for a pagent for their young daughter. Along the way, they encounter personal tragedy, and the loss of a family member. You won't find to many movies like this, it's odd, and awkwardly times humor make it funny, yet uncomfortable. It's not the warm, happy ending, family fold back together type of movie, but you do get some feel-good sense out of it. There are a few moments that make you laugh, but otherwise for me it's not a comedy. It's awkward, and unreal. Again, I am not the biggest Toni Collette fan either, but I think she is less awkward here than in anything else I've ever seen her in. Interesting, and strange- but not for everyone, and not my favorite.

Three seasons of dispensing his own brand of roundhouse-kicking justice have not slowed Texas Ranger Cordell Walker (Chuck Norris). As an appreciative observer remarks at one point during season 3, "You still have all the moves, Walker." Whether going undercover as a cocaine dealer in Miami or "delivering a little pain" against white supremacists, Russian mobsters, street gangs, IRA terrorists, heroin smugglers, or vengeful ex-convicts, Walker is "a damn one-man army" who "walks the walk and talks the talk." No one delivers Chuck-isms such as, "The bigger they are, the harder they hit" like Norris. <I>Walker, Texas Ranger</I>'s third season is a bit edgier than seasons past. The language is a tad cruder and the action more graphic. The episode "The Juggernaut," about a wife beater terrorizing a woman's support group, is particularly rough stuff. In the explosive season opener, "Blown Apart," a Bible-quoting mad bomber unleashes a holocaust of fiery destruction that even Walker cannot defuse in time. Among the season's most memorable episodes is "Final Justice," in which Walker discovers that the man who killed his parents when he was a boy is still alive, leading to a most dangerous game in which Walker becomes the prey of this hunt-happy racist (portrayed by John Vernon, best known as Dean Wormer in <I>Animal House</I>). In "Deep Cover," Walker partners up with a female cop played by world champion kickboxer Kathy Long, who, as an actress, makes a great world champion kickboxer. "Blackout" opens intriguingly with an amnesiac Walker waking up in a casino office clad in a tuxedo, holding a gun and lying next to a dead body. Chuck Norris commentary would have been a real kick, but then again, he is a man of action, and this season does deliver for <I>Walker</I> fans. <I>--Donald Liebenson</I>

The Best Show of all Time.......2007-05-31
To say I'm a Walker fan would be an incredible understatement. I watched every episode when they came out, and now I am enjoying them all again on DVD. How can anyone get enough of seeing Chuck Norris bring justice to criminals, even if only on TV. There is such a feeling of satisfaction when you see justice served. Speaking of which, if you've ever had a "What Would Chuck Norris Do?" moment, Chuck now writes weekly on the very issues affecting the day! What a huge bonus for Chuck Norris fans. It is obvious that a very large budget was spent on many episodes in Season 3, as the action takes Walker to many remote, hard to film locations. Now I just have to restrain myself from watching the rest of Walker Season 3 on TV until I can watch the rest on DVD.

I never get tired of this show. Mr. Norris never lets the people down when it comes to action. As I have said before, it's nice to have his show out there showing that not everyone is willing to give in to the bad guys. Bring the other seasons on!!!!!!!

In the second full season of <I>Walker: Texas Ranger</I> (this is, technically, season 3), a somewhat reigned-in Walker (Chuck Norris) is less <I>Dirty Harry</I> and more by-the-book, providing, of course, that the book has plenty of pictures of criminals being subdued with roundhouse kicks to the head. In one episode, Walker's partner, Jimmy Trivette (Clarence Gilyard), suggests serving a warrant his way, "nice and easy." There's just one thing: Walker never, ever, does anything nice and easy. He does it nice and rough, and when you're dealing with the likes of drug dealers, bank robbers, assassins, cattle rustlers, the Japanese mob, and vengeful escaped convicts, that's the only way to do it. "If you come back here," a bigoted sheriff warns Walker in the episode "Badge of Honor," "you'd better bring an army because you alone just ain't gonna cut it." Actually, that'll cut it just fine. What makes <I>Walker</I> so satisfying is that justice may be delayed, but it is never denied. In the episode, "Mean Streets," Walker goes undercover to protect the homeless from a band of rich kids who are preying on them and videotaping the attacks. If this were, say, <I>Law & Order</I>, the kids' parents would hire an elite defense team and the kids might get off scot-free. That's not the way they roll on <I>Walker: Texas Ranger</I>. With the kids in custody, viewers are promised an "easy" conviction.
What really kicks this season into high gear is the show's new theme song, "Eyes of a Ranger," performed by Norris himself. Jeff Foxworthy has joked, "If an episode of <I>Walker: Texas Ranger</I> has changed your life, you might be a redneck." Granted, <I>Walker</I> may not be life-changing TV à la <I>Oprah</I>, but there is considerable spiritual uplift in watching an incorruptible hero tossing Texas' scum of the earth into the back of his pickup truck and taking them to jail. We join Asst. D.A. Alex Cahill (Sheree J. Wilson) in raising a glass to <I>Walker</I>. "Here's to the Texas Rangers," she toasts in one episode, "the best there are." <I>--Donald Liebenson</I>

Great Show.......2007-06-12
This is a very interesting, action filled show. It's a good law-enforcement show starring Chuck Norris as Walker, Texas Ranger. In every episode there is a lot of excitment and it keeps you wondering who the criminal is through the whole show.
Amazing!!!.......2007-05-15
Walker is amazing! The 2nd Season is full of action, great plot- and of course, "Eyes of a Ranger" is introduced! If you like action or drama, you should love Walker!
"The Eyes Of The Ranger Were Upon Us".......2007-04-22
With new theme song in place Walker roared back for what was really his Third season. This is still one of the better shows about Rangers ever made. The values that are packed into every show make this a must see in my house. keep them coming!!!!!!!!!!!
Good.......2007-03-14
This season was good. Chuck Norris has as usaully that serious stoneface. That is good and a little funny. You can as usaully expect 3-4 martial arts fights in each ep. Too bad Chuck is doubled for kicks in nearly all the fights. I saw he did some stunts himself also in some ep that is good. Of course there is some humor in this season also that is funny. A GOOD SESASON, A GOOD BUY!.
Wonderful to watch.......2007-03-09
These shows are compelling viewing, you cant turn away from them in case you miss something. They are a great tribute to a great man.....and promote public awareness about a lot of issues and alternate lifestyles than those of our own. Wonderful, just wish they would release the other series quicker, we have been waiting a long time for them.

How's this for impressive trivia: <I>Dodgeball</I> faced off against <I>The Terminal</I> in opening-weekend competition, and 29-year-old writer-director Rawson Marshall Thurber aced Steven Spielberg by a score of $30 to $18.7 in box-office millions. That's no mean feat for a newcomer, but Thurber's lowbrow script and rapid-fire direction--along with a sublime cast of screen comedians--proved to be just what moviegoers were ravenous for: a consistently hilarious, patently formulaic romp in which the underdog owner of Average Joe's Gym (Vince Vaughn) faces foreclosure unless he can raise $50,000 in 30 days. The solution: A dodgeball tournament offering $50K to the winners, in which Vaughn and his nerdy clientele team up against the preening, abhorrently narcissistic owner (Ben Stiller) of Globo Gym, who's threatening a buy-out. That's it for story; any 5-year-old could follow it with brainpower to spare. But Thurber, Vaughn, Stiller, and their well-cast costars (including Stiller's off-screen wife, Christine Taylor) keep the big laughs coming for 96 nonsensical minutes. With spot-on cameos by champion bicyclist Lance Armstrong, David Hasselhoff, Hank Azaria, Chuck Norris, and William Shatner, and a crudely amusing coda for those who watch past the credits, <I>Dodgeball</I> is no masterpiece, but you can bet Spielberg was unexpectedly humbled by its popular appeal. <I>--Jeff Shannon</I>
Description
You'll dodge, duck, dip, dive. . . and laugh out loud watching Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller settle their differences in a winner-take-all dodgeball competition. Under the painful tutelage of legendary ADAA champ, Patches O'Houlihan (Rip Torn), Peter LaFleur (Vaughn) and his Average Joes take on the Purple Cobras, led by egomaniacal fitness guru, White Goodman (Stiller). It's an over-the-top underdog tale filled with hilarious sight gags and balls-out fun!
Customer Reviews:
Silly and totally hilarious movie!.......2007-05-25
I really didn't know what to expect when I watched this movie, but I certainly didn't expect to be laughing so hard that my stomach hurt! Ben Stiller truly inherited some comic chops from his comedian dad Jerry Stiller, and it shows in this movie. He is unequivocably funny every time he's on screen. Vince Vaughn, with his less flamboyant and more deadpan style of humor, is just as funny as the leader of the opposing team. And what a silly premise - dodgeball! It's the game you haven't thought about since you were 10 years old, and to think there's a movie about it that is actually VERY FUNNY. Enjoy this silly movie that is very, very entertaining.
Entertaining Comedy.......2007-05-21
I am glad that once in a year a person can see a good comedy where people try to achieve something to save themselves from downfall.
Ben Stiller is pretty awesome and rough in his character. I would have preferred more effects when contestants are hit by the ball.
Neverthless outstanding 'unique' comedy- belongs with Get Shorty, Borat, and Dumb and Dumber.
FUN! A poopy-flavored lollipop will never look the same.......2007-04-26
A superb cast, super-funny script and lots of fun loaded with physical comedy make Dodgeball a winner. Never a lull in the laughs, this film is an upbuilding, fun flick to share with friends. Rooting for the underdog is an exciting and hilarious experience. Watch with friends.
Dodgeball has the Patches O'Houlihan seal of approval.......2007-04-23
What is there to say about Dodgeball - A True Underdog Movie other than it's a no-brainer of a hilarious movie that doesn't aspire to lofty heights. What it does do is come out firing with some of the funniest physical comedy and one-liners since The Farrelly Brothers' Something About Mary. First time director Rawson Marshall Thurber does a good enough job to keep the laughs coming one right after the another to keep Dodgeball from becoming too repetitive.
The movie is a riff from the stock underdog sports genre with a Peter La Fleur (played by Vince Vaughn with his usual sardonic wit) having to find a way to save his Average Joe's Gym from being foreclosed by his bank and turned by a rival hi-tech gym next door into a parking lot. Who else would be the perfect foil for Vince Vaughn's Peter La Fleur but none other than Ben Stiller as the former-fatty turned workout fitness Nazi, White Goodman. Goodman's Globo Gym is a state-of-the art, sterile and BALCO-like gym where insults and making its members feel ugly, fat and useless is the way to clean health and the perfect bod.
Already, within the first fifteen minutes, we know who to root for and who to boo. In one corner we have the Average Joe's guys played with comedic timing by Justin Long, Stephen Root, Chris Williams, Alan Tudyk and Joel Moore. Stiller's Goodman and his consigliere Me'Shell (Jamal Duff channelling Barry White) with a hand-picked ringer of a dodgeball team he calls the Purple Cobras. With the two sides set the dodgeball carnage begins as Average Joe's must win the Las Vegas Dodgeball Invitational to earn the $50,000 needed to save the gym. To round out the Average Joe's team will be the bank accountant who ends up sympathizing with the Joe's, Kate Veatch (played by Stiller's real-life wife, Christine Taylor) and Patches O'Houlihan (Rip Torn in a scene-stealing role).
Rip Torn is hilarious as the acerbic and insane former Dodgeball great Patches O'Houlihan. He pretty much gets all the best one-liners in the movie the moment he appears on the screen. He coaches the Average Joe's team by browbeating them, insulting them and, failing that, throwing wrenches at them to help them in learning the 5 D's of dodgeball: Dodge, duck, dip, dive, dodge. In fact, I would say that if it wasn't for Rip Torn's character dominating the middle part of the movie, I think Dodgeball's constant ball to the groin shots would've gotten old. Instead Patches O'Houlihan constantly gave people watching a reason to laugh out loud.
Dodgeball - A True Underdog Story is a movie that the Academy voters will not think twice about showering with praises and awards, but I'm sure most of them will be watching it and laughing out loud like the rest of the movie-going public. Dodgeball is one hilarious, one-liner after one-liner ball to the nuts funny and it doesn't aspire to be anything else but that. This movie will never get old with each viewing and will continue to make people laugh out loud.
Purchased for my nephew.......2007-03-19
I would never have bought this movie for myself - I think the movie is lame. I borrowed it from my nephew to see it and a friend "borrowed" and never returned it. I just bought it because I owed my nephew the movie. There were very few original funny moments in it.

An unofficial Chuck Norris fact: With apologies to Al Gore, global warming does not cause hurricanes. They are caused by the wind generated by Chuck Norris' flurry of roundhouse kicks to the head. Which is why this seven-disc set will blow you away. After Norris's movie career stalled, <I>Walker: Texas Ranger</I> revived his career and catapulted him to international icon status of Hasselhoff proportions. He has since been transformed into an affectionate punchline for the likes of Conan O'Brien and the purveyors of the Official Chuck Norris facts website ("Those aren't credits that roll after <I>Walker: Texas Ranger</I>. It is actually a list of fatalities that occurred during the making of the episode."). Co-created by future Oscar-winner Paul Haggis (<I>Crash</I>), <I>Walker: Texas Ranger</I> is a tailor-made vehicle for Norris, whose eponymous character dispenses somewhat suspect justice. "You screwed up," one particularly nasty miscreant tells Walker. "You forgot to read us our rights. Walker obliges, but not before kicking him into submission, "You have the right to remain silent." Walker's methods may perturb Asst. D.A. Alex Cahill (Sheree J. Wilson), but they sure come in handy when she is menaced, <I>Cape Fear</I>-style, by the recently freed corrupt sheriff she sent to jail ("Borderline") or kidnapped by a cult leader ("In the Name of God").
There are three crucial elements for a great <I>Walker</I> episode: A particularly vile villain (drug dealers, rapists, baby-stealing politicians), coolly delivered Chuck-isms ("When I want your opinion, I'll beat it out of you," reprised from the great <I>Code of Silence</I>), and, to quote Jimmy Trivette (Clarence Gilyard), Walker's new, more by-the-book partner, the "squinty-eyed make-my-day stuff" that Walker punishingly dispenses near the 40-minute mark of nearly every episode. When you've got Chuck Norris, you don't need A-list guest stars, but <I>Walker</I>'s first season does feature some familiar faces, including the future <I>Spider-Man</I> Tobey Maguire ("The Prodigal Son"), Stuart Whitman ("The Reunion"), and a post-<I>Wonder Years</I> Danica "Winnie" McKellar ("Stolen Lullaby"). Norris may not be Oscar or Emmy material, but watching Walker unfailingly lay out the bad guys and making the guilty pay is the essence of comfort television. As Trivette says, "I hate to admit; the man is good." In short: don't mess with <I>Texas</I>! <I>--Donald Liebenson</I>
Product Description
Texas Ranger Cordell Walker, one of the last old-fashioned heroes in the West, is a protective friend but a relentless foe who will stop at nothing to bring a criminal to justice.

Before the Ranger got his eyes.......2007-04-22
The only part of this set that isn't good is that the theme song that we all came to know and love for this show wasn't part of it yet. Other than that, this show is what kept my family watching for the full run.
As Walker, Norris found the roll he was born to play. With the belief that Justice should be served no matter what, Walker fought the good fight every week to keep the streets clean. Thank you Mr. Norris and company for giving us this great show.
I love Walker!.......2007-04-10
I love all the episodes of Walker. It is fun to watch. I think part of what made Walker so good was that Chuck Norris and the writers, directors, etc., really understood what many Americans wanted to see. We want to see the good guys win! I watch these episodes over and over. I miss the series. Maybe they will consider doing a movie down the road to "let us see what happened to everybody." This would be great!
This is what T.V. Used to be!.......2007-03-12
It's a tribute to a great guy and some very special Law Enforcement People. It promotes positive values and morals and tells some very compelling stories. This is what good T.V used to be.
Wonderful viewing.......2007-03-09
These shows are compelling viewing, you cant turn away from them in case you miss something. They are a great tribute to a great man.....and promote public awareness about a lot of issues and alternate lifestyles than those of our own. Wonderful, just wish they would release the other series quicker, we have been waiting a long time for them.
Walker, Texas Ranger - The Complete First Season.......2007-01-23
I really enjoy Walker, Texas Ranger. The message is good, & the values taught in the series are very worthy of being taught to others.

Taking its Age into Account, Pretty Good Transfer to Blu-Ray.......2007-06-10
I was impressed with this transfer to Blu-Ray. Resolution was great, although colors and detail not as vivd (due to reproduction from old film). Still, better than some of the newer BRD releases such as Legend of Sleepy Hollow (stay away from that one).
Excellent.......2007-05-19
The definitive copy of Enter the Dragon for any Bruce Lee fan. The movie itself looks as good as it ever has. The single disc also includes something like 3-4 hours of Bruce Lee documentary including home video footage of Bruce training, and footage from him at martial arts expositions. The interviews are excellent throughout. Finally the real big plus is that it includes a new release of all available unedited footage from Game of Death.
It's basically Enter the Dragon, plus all the actual Bruce footage from Game of Death, and all the documentary you will ever want to watch.
everything and the kitchen sink.........2007-05-07
the picture quality and audio quality being remastered here is an absolute beauty....this is worth the price alone..
but then you have all of the extras and pretty much every..if not every documentary on Bruce Lee...
if you're a Bruce Lee fan and are wondering if this is worth the purchase.....
the anser is YES...
Bruce Lee's best HD-DVD Transfer and The Best Movie........2007-05-07
This is an excellent martial arts movie, the never seen before for HD-DVD. Has an excellent video transfer and a good sound not the best sound possible, but an excellent movie to see.
Greatest martial arts movie of all time in HD!.......2007-04-19
I recently purchased a Playstation 3 and an HD LCD TV, and this is the first Blu-Ray disc that i have bought. Ive seen this movie dozens of times on TV, VHS and DVD and i thought i knew every fight scene back to front. Since seeing it today, i discovered how much i was missing in those old video formats. There really is that much more detail and smoothness in the images. Its a great showing for a 30yo movie. There is also a great deal of documentaries and extras if you dig that kind of stuff.
As for the movie itself...its a classic action movie with fantastic fight scenes, a convincing bad guy, funny bits, armies of dumb henchmen, hot chicks and Bruce Lee in his prime! What more could an action film lover want?

In the world of <I>Walker, Texas Ranger</I>, there's no problem that can't be solved with a big truck, a few roundhouse kicks, and the unflappable-bordering-on-comatose cool of martial-arts-champion-turned-B-movie-star Chuck Norris (<I>Good Guys Wear Black</I>, <I>Forced Vengeance</I>). As Texas Ranger Cordell "Cord" Walker, Norris helmed this fusion of karate chops and cowboy hats for nine seasons; for some reason, the last season is being released on DVD before any of the earlier ones. By this point, the show's formula--non-stop action and high drama with no concern for common sense or coherent storytelling--has been honed to a science. No opportunity for peril is overlooked, particularly when it affords Walker a heroic moment. In the season's first episode, firemen recoil from a burning building, but Walker strides in without a word (and without any of that cumbersome protective gear) to rescue a cute boy and his loyal dog. This is refined cheese: Bad guys wear evil on their sleeves and criminal masterminds act like morons whenever it's convenient to conclude the episode. Norris wisely keeps his dialogue to a minimum, usually curt commands to his multi-ethnic troupe of high-kicking Rangers (Clarence Gilyard Jr., Judson Mills, and Nia Peeples) or warm endearments to his beloved wife Alex (Sheree Wilson). Most episodes bounce between a couple of overlapping high-tension elements (say, arms dealers and an outbreak of the Ebola virus), though this season also features an epic four-episode arc about a villainous computer genius known as "The Chairman" (Michael Ironside, <I>Scanners</I>, <I>Starship Troopers</I>). The standard two-pronged attack can be amazingly effective; no matter how absurdly the characters may behave, the next stirring scene is underway before anyone has time to notice. It's as addictive as potato chips. Fans will find <I>Walker, Texas Ranger: The Final Season</I> crunchy and completely satisfying. <I>--Bret Fetzer</I>
Description
Starring karate champion, Chuck Norris, WALKER, TEXAS RANGER centers around Cordell Walker, a contemporary Texas Ranger who is old-fashioned in his method of dealing with criminals, which entails using a lot of force. Joined by his partner, Jimmy Trivette, Walker does not shy away from his "eye for an eye" approach to law enforcement.
Customer Reviews:
Best of Walker Texas Ranger.......2007-06-17
Be looking for cheese, but of the walker series, this is the best season. Don't get your hopes up for quality acting or story telling, but these shows are always good for a laugh. The action sequences are unparalleled, Chuck Norris at his round-house-kicking best.
Must watch tv shows.......2007-03-09

They are a great tribute to a great man.....and promote public awareness about a lot of issues and alternate lifestyles than those of our own. A show for the Simple-Minded.......2007-02-13
If you want to watch something without thinking, select Walker, Texas Ranger - Final Season. There is nothing clever about it. 5' 3" Nia Peeples beats up 5 huge dirtbags and everyone gets arrested. Norris remains asleep throughout the episodes, as 9 years of shows has honed this ability. The shame is that the plots start out nicely, but no creativity is introduced from there. The cleverest criminal can't add 2 plus 2 in the last 5 minutes of the show and every episode ends with Texas Rangers out-kicking any number of people despite the possession of firearms. Poor acting, terrible dialog, complete predictability and frustrating repetition highlight this series. There is a good bit of action attempting to disguise all the other shortcomings, and apparently it succeeded for 9 years. Give credit where it is due, low budgets and entertaining the mindless worked for 9 years. And I really do like Nia Peeples, just not in the invincible role. If you prefer good acting and clever endings, steer clear.

Chuck Norris fans will find <I>Lone Wolf McQuade</I> to be one of his best. Playing a rebellious Texas Ranger, Norris single-handedly wipes out an entire gang of horse thieves--and that's just the opening scene. From there the plot involves arms smuggling, McQuade's daughter being kidnapped, and a dwarf in an electric wheelchair. But the movie's real trump card is a face-off between Norris and David Carradine of the TV show <I>Kung Fu</I>, who plays a badass villain with a penchant for argyle sweaters (though truth be told, Norris's wardrobe is very 1980s as well). Barbara Carrera makes a suitable bad girl/love interest and science fiction fans will enjoy some familiar faces (Robert Beltran, who would later be part of <I>Star Trek: Voyager</I>, and William Sanderson, a supporting actor from <I>Blade Runner</I>). All in all, an action-packed romp with a reverent, almost mythological view of the Texas Rangers. <I>--Bret Fetzer</I>
Description
Martial arts master Chuck Norris (The Delta Force) takes on kung fu king David Carradine (Kung Fu) in this modern-day western/action adventure that packs a wallop! Happy with Lone Wolf McQuade.......2007-05-17
I was very happy to get this movie. I have had trouble finding it locally. I just wish it was closed captioned as I have trouble hearing. Thanks
An Old Favorite.......2007-04-14
A must-have for Chuck Norris fans. Masterful martial arts action, and the added bonus of seeing Kung Fu star David Carradine, too! Norris always shines as a Texas Ranger.
LONEWOLF MCQUADE.......2006-11-07
An excellent movie. Chuck Norris as a Texas Ranger is at his best. Its an oldy but a goody made in 1983.
Its a story of love set in an western action adventure genre. When the bad guy (David Carradine) kidnaps his daughter Chuck Norris rises to the challenge and over comes all odds in this excelent martial arts adventure. Coupled with sexy love scenes with Barbara Carrera, this movie is a must see. I give it two thumbs up.
Chuck Norris is the man!!!.......2006-08-31
If you like Texas Rangers, guns, karate, beer, and great dialogue, then you love this movie. Imagine Walker Texas Ranger and then make him even more bad a**. Trust me you will like this movie or Chuck will roundhouse kick you in the face.
Guns don't kill people. Chuck Norris kills people........2006-08-08
I would say this is the greatest Chuck Norris movie, no wait, the greatest movie of all-time except for one thing. And that is that all Chuck Norris movies are created equal and better then movies like the Godfather, Schlinder's List, Back Door Sluts 9, and Braveheart combined. Chuck Norris is a much better actor then Tom Hanks and Marlon Brando because he knows karate. Hell Chuck Norris invented Karate as well as Judo, Kung Fu, and Hamster style Jap Slapping. Do yourself a favor and buy this movie so you can call yourself a man. And if your a woman buy this movie and pray Chuck Norris comes to your house and gets you pregnant.
