Ok, I admit it, I'm a huge, huge, HUGE fan of Michael Buble, and that was the only reason I decided to sit down and watch this film. I have to tell ya, ok it's really chessy and corny, but in a funny sort of way.
Meg is tired of dating all the wrong guys so she decides to go blonde in the hopes that it will help. She ends up attracting the attention of the owner of the V Club, Van Martin played by talented Michael Buble. But she is actually in love with an old high school friend.
My heart goes out to Van in this silly yet fun movie. If I ever saw Meg, not the actress but the character herself, walking down the street, she better run. LOL!
There are alot of funny jokes. Michael is great at the different voices, that's my fave scene in the whole thing, and the IAG thing is too cute. My friends and I use it so much, it's sunken into our vocabulary now, in fact I have them saying it at work now too. LOL!

it's funny how these things happen.
i'm flicking through the channels late one night last week and happen upon a scene from a movie with a terrifically buxom blonde who has just stripped down to her underthings. naturally my eyes were riveted.
i don't remember too much more probably because i fell asleep.
several nights later,or,was it several nights before,while i was watching one of those late night chat shows(i think it was carson daly)who should be introduced but the very fetching actress krista allen. i knew her from the emmanuel in space series of movies(although i never watched one all the way through) and the girl-in-the-elevator scene with jim carey in liar,liar. again, i was half asleep so unfortunately i don't remember too much of the interview.
and then, and then, a few days ago i'm up late, eyes once again afixed to the tv screen and my nimble fingers caressing the remote button landing me on a movie......a movie with a very attractive tall blonde gal and THIS time i'm awake to watch it all the way through.
the movie was 'totally blonde'.
as i'm watching it and enjoying more and more krista's character in the movie as she giggles and frowns and jumps up and down to whatever the situation is, the scene, THAT scene, where our terrifically buxom blonde begins to strip down to her bare essentials appears and i gleefully recall "oh! i saw that a few days ago!" now i'm REALLY wishing i had payed attention to the daly interview a few nights before! arghhh
anyway,
in this movie, krista who plays a girl named meg is having an emotional tug-of-war with a guy she likes and another guy who she is really heads over heels for. but the guy she just likes, or as she calls him, her 'friend', happens to be the real life singer(or more accurately, crooner)michael buble. and michael, in this movie, plays a guy named van who owns a jazz club featuring himself as a singer very much in the mold of michael himself. i hope this is not too confusing! lol
anyway, van is a very sweet guy and meg is very close to upgrading him from 'friend' status to something more when along comes an old high school crush-the guy she falls head over heels with. but van is really smitten with meg and sings to her several times in his soft and debonair style-anything a girl would melt for.
i did not realize until after the movie was over that this singing and the actor playing van is actually the singer michael buble~!
as well as having an outstanding singing style, michael is a very good actor. i really enjoyed watching his character in this movie. the part he played, van, was so likeable and natural and easy-going.
it kind of makes your head spin when meg becomes infatuated with her old high school crush who's a rather dorky(but, yes, hot looking hunk)surfer dude and in the process giving van his walking papers.
without giving the whole story away i would like to conclude with what i feel is a new discovery-her name:krista allen.
in this movie, she played her part of meg so sweet and playful. i really fell for her in a big way. she may look like a typical stuck up 'dumb blonde' but that stereotype does not apply here to fun-loving and big-hearted meg.
as played by krista i really fell in love with her, and krista.
i also thank this movie for introducing me to mr. buble-a great singer and actor .
if i may sum up this movie it would make sense to use the code that van himself uses several times during the movie......"i.a.g." which stands for 'it's all good'!
oh wait!........it's not ALL good because the dvd version of totally blonde does not.....repeat....does NOT include the ESSENTIAL scene wherein meg/krista strips down to her bare essentials! this scene on the dvd is severely edited! for shame for shame
i have to deduct a star for that!

I gave the video 5 stars because it is Michael Buble's first movie and he is wonderful in it!! And, I love the music of the big band era. But quite frankly, the movie is a little cheesy! You really have to be a Buble' fan to appreciate it! It's a 2 star movie with a 5 star entertainer!!

Im actually 18 and i REALLY love Michael Buble. He has an amazing voice but when i go to his concerts im amazed that not a lot of people has seen his movie!! I LOVE IT! well good luck michael and keep up the good work!! :)

Silent but deadly funny.......2005-02-13

I love this movie that goofs on Silence of the lambs, Phycho, Addamms Family so many more.

Many fammiluer faces like that guy who played Captain Chaos. The guy who wore purple pajamas in The Phantom. That guy who wrote Blazing Saddles. The dudett from this movie. The guy who played the father in Adamms fammily. Hightower from Police Acadamy, and Proctor. many, many more household names.

So you love Leslie Neilson, and you can't get enough of the movie Airplane or mafia. Here's your next step. This movies kicks out the physical comedy like Steve Martin drunk on New Years Eve. A must watch for stupid spoof movie fans.

Some people take comedies too seriously. The Silence of the Hams is a funny movie. Maybe not the funniest of spoofs, but it is worth watching. Another reason to watch this movie is too see
the great looking Charlene Tilton. I didn't particularly watch
Dallas, but I can see why it was a popular show and she was one of the reasons. Billy Zane is good as the monotone Jo Dee Fostar.
Dom Deluise is always Dom Deluise. I think my favorite actor in
the movie is Ezio Gregio. His bad or horrible Italian accent had
me cracking up.

I'm sorry, but the last review was hilarious. i hope it wasn't serious. this is obviously not "The Silence od the Lambs" this is just a horror movie spoof with very cheap and bad jokes. The reason i gave it 2 stars is because it's a horror movie spoof that came before "Scary Movie"

What was all the hype??.......2003-08-27

I read this was a great action thriller with a ton of suspense. It was terrible. I can't believe the Academy gives awards to flicks like this. I don't even recall seeing Jodie Foster or Anthony Perkins in any scenes either, what was that? Was Perkins pretending to be Delouise and was Foster Billy Zane or something. Ick! Anyway, terrible. I guess it's one of those "art" movies that are supposedly deep. I just thought it was stupid. The Hannibal sequel is much better and understandable! Stay away!! Don't believe the hype!!

one of the best comedies! one of the best kid movies!! the boy who plays the child is a great actor, and a natural born comedian!! it just seems like he is that in real life, but he's not! this kid should have been Oscar nominated. i didnt think they could bring another great element to it and they did with Trixie! that girl is a great actor, and rude and funny as hell! she gives the boy a run for his $! whoever calls this movie bad or not funny, DOES NOT know comedy and is as funny as a wet sandwhich!! this is classic comedy! i think people are just put off b/c it stars kids.

Problem Child 2.......2005-05-18

The sequel picks up where the last movie left off with Ben and Junior moving to a new neighborhood and trying to start a new life. Along the way, Ben tries to date various single women but they are all scared by Junior's antics. A greedy rich woman takes interest with Ben, but Junior soon finds himself being persecuted by another local problem child, older classmates, and his soon to be new mother. Sparks will fly in this laugh out loud comedy for the ages. I do admit though that this film falls under a lot of the same flaws as its other film did with bad acting, cliches, and stereotyped characters. Overall, if you're looking for a comedy that doesn't require a lot of thought, then I highly recommend it.

Good Movie, when on TV and edited.......2004-07-28

I used to watch this movie all the time on TV and loved it! I then got the video and was absolutely shocked! I couldn't believe how much needed to be edited for TV. The barfing scene was horrible and the kids swore a lot. I don't see why they had to have those things in it in the first place. I watched it for years as the edited version and it is much better.

A box-office bomb, the only thing this movie is notable for is the lawsuit Universal Pictures filed against the mother of the child star Michael Oliver.

Problem Child 2 is the funniest comedy of the 90s,but if you watch Problem child 2 on TBS or USA there are scenes not found on the VHS,like the scene were Junior asks Trixie were's the principal's office and she shows were it is and puts a sign on his back,also when Trixie beats up Junior and marks his face with a permanent marker,Junior and Ben go home and put icepacks on their heads and Junior tells Ben girls are stupid,and also when the open house scene Murph sticks his face in the ranch dressing.all those scenes are deleted from the VHS,so record them off your TV but there are edited scenes from the TV version,so if Universal makes Problem Child 2 on DVD they should put deleted scenes on it.

Classic Made-for-TV Movie!.......2002-09-16

I remember seeing this movie when it premiered as the movie of the week back in 1979. Charlene Tilton of "Dallas" fame plays a teen that has a job down at the beach. She is saving for a car, but in order to get to the job she must hitchhike. This movie wasn't very violent, but it had some strong images. The image that sticks out the most is the bikini/haltar top clad girls getting into the murderers car laughing, and oblivious to the news reports, then the next scene is the girls clothing being slowly driven over after the murderer has killed his victims. A pretty strong message, without being graphic. There are a lot of recognizable faces in this classic too, like Dick Van Patten from "Eight is Enough", and Christopher Knight from "Brady Bunch" fame. Dominique Dunne also stars in this unforgettable made-for-tv classic! If you like movies from the '70s, especially made-for-tv movies, then this one is a great choice!

wincott is terrific.......2006-08-27

It seems that just about every kickboxing movie that takes place in Vegas ends up being pretty decent, and Deadly Bet is no exception. Its always nice to see flashy Vegas lights, casinos, and betting, but Jeff Wincott is just about good in every movie he is in. He has great martial arts skills but is also above average as a martial arts movie actor than most B-movie actors. Steven Vincit Leigh is also in Deadly Impact, one of my more favorites as well, usually playing the villain, and does here.

Deadly Bet is about a man (Wincott) who puts up one last bet before leaving Vegas for good to live with his fiance in Colorado. He loses his bet to Rico (Vincet Leigh) which includes his fiance. There isn't a deep story to the movie, but it is interesting to see everything the Wincott character goes through to repay his debt, try to get back his fiance, and change his life around for the better by loosing his bad habits.

Most of the action takes place in ring fights where guests place bets. The fights are a bit above avergae, but I have seen better. There are plenty to keep you entertained. The final tournament last almost 15 minutes, with Wincott in the ring against Vincet Leigh at the end (lasting about 5 minutes there). They actually have a fight in the beginning of the movie too.

The acting is decent in the movie, even though the script didn't give a whole lot to work with. There are a couple of songs in the movie that actually aren't very cheesy, unlike most songs of the 90's era that are used in martial arts movies.

If you like Vegas kickboxing movies such as "To Be The Best" or "Final Impact", Deadly Bet will be just as enjoyable, if not a little more. Deadly Bet is definetly an above average B-movie.

I think Jeff Wincott is a good martial artist and shows charisma in this film. Its a different sort of storyline than the average B Grade but i like the way its been put together. Its about Jeffs character who is a local living in Las Vegas and has a bad habit for gambling, drinking and whatever else, one night as he was planning to leave the city for good with his wife he begs her for one last bet on an illegal fight organized by Rico (Steven Vincent Leigh) who he ends up fighting eventually but not only does he lose all his money, he mistakingly bet his wife as well! thinking he could beat Rico. It takes a while until he turns over a new leaf, gets back into training and tries to convince his wife he has changed for the better.

Wincott makes the flim worthwhile.......2000-02-10

Not the most original storyline: a guy heading nowhere with his life. His only assets are his muscles which he uses in ways that don't make for an honest living. His gambling and boozing drives his finacee (Charlene Tilton) to the arms of his adversary, Rico. He cleans up his act, but must fight one last fight. Guess who wins? Wincott and Tilton are too talented for such a lame script, but Jeff Wincott's talents make up for it.

What Appears To Be A Natural For Film Conversion Proves Not To Be So........2006-08-27

Popular fiction writer Elmore Leonard has hammered out a number of rather simplistic Western novels, of which one, "Law at Randado", is utilized as basis for this heavy handed adaptation, with the original apparently being tailor-made for a feature film since it is principally propelled by action and dialogue in lieu of any alternate emphasis upon psychologic insight, of which there is none. However, director Chris McIntyre's screenplay is constructed with a surfeit of plot threads, and this failing, in combination with some unfortunate casting choices, and a plotline full of flaws in logic and continuity, lowers the work to the point of its being a confused and unintended pastiche of the Western cinema genre, certainly a boon for stuntmen but a seemingly endless bore for a sentient viewer. Leonard's tale focusses upon the activities of protagonist Kirby Frye, played here by seventh billed Cody Glenn, including his efforts to perform his duties as deputy sheriff for an imaginary southwestern U.S. border town, a post he has assumed only with reluctance, but McIntyre's undistinguished additions to the story are merely weakened by his own erratic direction, while choppy post-production editing accentuates the dreary affair's lack of cohesion, apt to leave a viewer asea when trying to locate a rationale behind most sequences. Cinematographer Dennis Dalzell's inventive efforts with his camera, essentially the only tolerable aspect of the film, make appropriate use of the Western flavoured settings, shot in Arizona and Burbank, California, but in general this work is but a pale shadow of Leonard's piece that is itself but a heavily denatured example of the Western school of fiction. The film becomes increasingly more slapdash as it moves along, with a strong quality of the ridiculous marking a great deal of the often risible dialogue, a favourite line being read by Charlene Tilton, performing as a married doxy who spends most of her screen time struggling with an off the shoulder blouse, never seeming able to adjust it either off or on enough to her satisfaction. In a climactic scene, wherein her character entreats for exoneration by her cuckolded husband, she describes him thus to others present: "Haig might not have had two nickels to rub together when he met me, but he spent those two nickels on me.", thereby matching the film's extensive array of visual non-sequiters. Among the players propelled in and out of the narrative is Glenn Ford, in his middle seventies and top billed for obvious marketing purposes, but in reality filling a supporting role as sheriff of Randado, plainly too old and stiff-jointed for the part, while being awkwardly edited out and replaced by a stuntman during an action scene wherein the sheriff quells four tough rivals.

Better than I expected.......2003-11-19

I expected this movie to be a joke, and while it certainly was not the best movie I've ever seen, I was very impressed for a low-budget film. Scott Baio carries the film very well, and his underestimated talents shine in this film. The acting of the supporting cast is spotty, but anyone who is a fan of Baio will be impressed, as long as they are not expecting to see little "Chachi Arcola" from "Happy Days." Of course the lighting is not superior, but this was a low-budget independent film, so that is understandable. The bottom line is that for the type of film and the type of budget it had, it's very impressive. It is just a shame that Mr. Baio cannot seem to get a part in a mainstream feature these days. This film proves his acting talents are far too good for the types of movies he has been able to get parts in.

What if Ed Wood were making movies today?.......2001-03-21

This no budget American re-make of "The Professional" is hysterically (unintentionally?) funny. Pointless flashbacks of scenes we just saw, actors improperly miked, bad lighting, over the top performances, stock explosions from other films, may very well make this the modern day "Plan 9 From Outer Space". If you love bad film, this is a must own masterpiece.

Scott Baio is playing a "tuff guy" role, which of course is very different from the fun, light hearted charecters we are used to seeing him play, whom is trying to rid him self of a past he regrets. He has a "dream" for which he will do whatever it takes to acheive, even if it means continuing to face a past he is running from. For those Scott Baio fans-it's not his best acting, but the "rugged" look looks good on him. I enjoyed the film simply because of being a fan of his. Others would view the film as being generic. It's definatly a "B" movie.

A box-office bomb, the only thing this movie is notable for is the lawsuit Universal Pictures filed against the mother of the child star Michael Oliver.

It turned this movie did no good for no one no way no how!!!
