Created at least in part due to popular demand, Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars will provide some closure to fans who were dismayed by the demise of the popular science fiction television show in 2003 and campaigned mightily to bring it back. Indeed, this miniseries (originally broadcast over two nights on the Sci-Fi Channel) will likely appeal primarily to the Farscape faithful, as the somewhat convoluted storyline may prove baffling to the uninitiated.
A brief bit of backstory explains how John Crichton, an astronaut from Earth, went through a wormhole and ended up on Moya, a living spaceship, with a motley group of aliens, including D'Argo (Anthony Simcoe), Chiana (Gigi Edgley), various puppet characters (designed by the Jim Henson Company), and Aeryn (Claudia Black), Crichton's love interest, who's expecting their first child. As The Peacekeeper Wars begins, our heroes find themselves in the middle of a war-to-end-all-wars between the lizard-like, implacably evil Scarrans and their rivals, the Peacekeepers. Crichton is the lynchpin in all of this, as his knowledge of "wormhole technology" is coveted by all, including his old nemesis Scorpius (Wayne Pygram), who captured and tortured Crichton back in season 1 and with whom Crichton must now form an uneasy alliance against the Scarrans.
Over the course of the three-hour miniseries, we get lots of weird- and cool-looking aliens, some nice sets and special effects, plenty of battles, and lots of portentous talk about the fate of the universe--nothing especially original, but all presented with outstanding production values. There's drama and action, love and betrayal, tragedy and triumph, war and, ultimately, peace, with a suitably spectacular ending (and a nod to Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey). With a 30-minute "making of" documentary among the DVD special features, The Peacekeeper Wars is a fitting way to end the Farscape saga. --Sam Graham

Confusing.......2007-06-11
If you are a fan of the Farscape TV series, you may well like this movie. I have never seen the series and found The Peacekeeper Wars to be confusing because it assumes you know the history of the characters and story line.
Although I have found other Jim Henson productions engaging - I especially liked Labyrinth -- I found this one to be seriously lacking in depth of character. They were walking paper dolls. Only 'Pilot' showed any real personality.
There was a plot twist at the end that I found interesting - even ironic - but it wasn't enough to redeem the movie. I'll be putting this one back up for sale: not a keeper.
perfect blend of comedy drama scifi and sexy.......2007-05-30
The wonderfully whimsical realm of Farscape culminates terrifically in this series mini-movie. Gorgeous yet goofy Ben Browder and the entire cast make it must-see viewing for any scifi fans.
Farscape Peacekeeper Wars.......2007-03-20
I'm glad they made this movie because where the show was ended and not continued was not a proper ending. Other shows have suffered a bad ending because of being cut-off (Enterprise) but because this movie wraps up a plot line the show was heading toward there is a sense of completion. Its a shame they killed a good character (seems to be a common feature in endings). But because they had so much material due to unfinished business the movie doesn't have as enjoyable a pace as the series often did.
Peacekeeper Wars Rock.......2007-03-09
It's a shame that the Farscape series was canceled, but the producers were able to take the last season of the series (which was already made) and condense it to a movie in order to give fans closure to previously unanswered questions, while still leaving a door open for future series/movies.
Must See Film for Farscape Fans.......2007-01-24
If you are a Farscape fan this movie is a keeper. It has everything that a Farscape fan would love. I have view this movie countless of times.

Owing a major debt to Alien and its cinematic spawn, Pitch Black is a guilty pleasure that surpasses expectations. As he did with The Arrival, director David Twohy revitalizes a derivative story, allowing you to forgive its flaws and submit to its visceral thrills. Under casual scrutiny, the plot's logic crumbles like a stale cookie, but it's definitely fun while it lasts.
A spaceship crashes on a desert planet scorched under three suns. The mostly doomed survivors include a resourceful captain (Radha Mitchell), a drug-addled cop (Cole Hauser), and a deadly prisoner (Vin Diesel) who quickly escapes. These clashing personalities discover that the planet is plunging into the darkness of an extended eclipse, and it's populated by hordes of ravenous, razor-fanged beasties that only come out at night. The body count rises, and Pitch Black settles into familiar sci-fi territory.
What sets the movie apart is Twohy's developing visual style, suggesting that this veteran of B-movie schlock may advance to the big leagues. Like the makers of The Blair Witch Project, Twohy understands the frightening power of suggestion; his hungry monsters are better heard than seen (although once seen, they're chillingly effective), and Pitch Black gets full value from moments of genuine panic. Best of all, Twohy's got a well-matched cast, with Mitchell (so memorable with Ally Sheedy in High Art) and Diesel (Pvt. Caparzo from Saving Private Ryan) being the standouts. The latter makes the most of his muscle-man role, and his character's development is one more reason this movie works better than it should. --Jeff Shannon

Director's log.......2007-05-02
(Pitch Black) is an unrated movie about transporting forty passengers and one Furian murderer. The ship gets caught in a meteor shower, kills the captain. The ship crashes on a baren desert planet. Soon the as lights go off, the only one they can trust is the murderer, because he's the only one who can see in the dark so I hope you're not afraid of the dark.
Great movie even better on HD-DVD.......2007-03-24
The extras are sparse, but the transfer really shows how much better HD-DVD looks over DVD. I have both and side to side you can see the lifelike coloring of the flashlights in the dark, details are clear. The movie is one of my wife's favorites and one of Diesels best.
good movie.......2007-03-06
not saying Vinn Deisel knows how to be anything else, but I do think he plays this role well. I genuinely enjoyed this movie.
Not too hot.......2007-02-15
Not sure what I was expecting but it was a let down as far as the movie goes, would not suggest to other to spend the bucks on this one.

Description
It's her time. Her place. The wickedly regal Mother of All Vampires is ready again to rule! Aaliyah plays the title role in this stylish shocker based on Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles. Stuart Townsend portrays Lestat, the undead antihero previously seen in the movie version of Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire. This time, Lestat finds acceptance in a tattooed and pierced world. He's a rock star. And his intoxicating Goth-riffed sound rekindles the desires of all-powerful Akasha.
Customer Reviews:
Love this movie!!.......2007-04-11
I am both an Anne Rice fan and a fan of vampire/sci-fi stories. I first saw this movie without having read the books. I agree that the stories are very different, but taken separately, QotD is a fantastic movie!! The music simply rocks and the cast worked so well, especially Stuart Townsend. Definitely one of the best vamp movies I've seen! Would definitely recommend this!!
Dissapointing.......2007-04-10
In "The Vampire Chronicles" by Anne Rice, "Queen of the Damned" is the sequel to "The Vampire Lestat." In the movies, it's the sequel to "Interview with the Vampire." The problem is, "Interview with the Vampire" is a masterpiece and "Queen of the Damned" is not. It doesn't even work as a sequel, but more of a stand-alone film that went wrong in many places. Replacing Tom Cruise as Lestat is Stuart Townsend, an underrated actor who has both the looks and charisma to play Lestat, but went wrong with his accent. Townsend threw on some fake-sounding Transylvanian accent and it really sounds fake. The long, dramatic pauses between statements doesn't help either. While the film basically picks up right after "Interview," if that film had ended ten minutes before it did. In case you don't recall, Lestat came back from his place of rest at the end of that film...In this film, he's in the cemetery in a sort of coma that he is awakened from by a budding rock group. He joins the band, renaming them The Vampire Lestat, and begins telling the world that vampires do exist...Something a vampire is never supposed to do. As Lestat grows in popularity and the underworld of vampires get angrier, he awakens from the grave Akasha (Aaliyah), the Queen of all vampires. Throw in some concert sequences (with Jonathan Davis of Korn doing the music) and flashy, music video like direction...You have "Queen of the Damned." Take a look at "Interview" for a moment. None of the actors used accents and all were perfect for their roles. I'm not the biggest Tom Cruise fan, but he captured Lestat so well I don't think many others could do it. Townsend, I believe, could...But he screwed up. Also, "Interview" was soaked in a gothic, moody atmosphere. "Queen of the Damned" has the atmosphere of a straight-to-DVD movie. The fact that it's directed as if it's a music video doesn't help either and caused it to age almost as soon as it was released. "Interview" was a film that was trying to appeal to adults and critics; it worked, it's a great film. "Queen of the Damned" was trying to appeal to young kids who like horror movies and rock music, the MTV generation if you will. It's no wonder the film was #1 at the box office when it was first released and is rarely ever mentioned anymore. It's sad to see real talent like Townsend, Lena Olin, and Aaliyah put on these fake accents and make themselves look like fools. Aaliyah did it and came out with the most dignity though; even those she just kind of belly dances her way through the film. I haven't read the book, but I'm pretty damn sure that not only does this film not work as a movie but it probably doesn't work as a literary adaptation either.
GRADE: C
Wretched!.......2007-01-29
Like many of the reviewers here, I am an Anne Rice fan. However, I knew that there were going to be liberties taken and was comfortable with them. I mean, few of the "Dracula" movies throughout the years have had anything to do with Bram Stoker's novel. All I wanted - and expected - was a flashy, no substance guilty pleasure movie, a la "Dracula 2000." That alone should tell you my expectations.
But QotD failed even as a guilty pleasure. The storyline didn't make a lot of sense when taken on it's own, and the acting was bad to bland. I also take issue with the badly-done look of the vampires. Rice's vampires are supposed to be beautiful, whereas this bunch looked like Eurotrash or people at a Halloween spook house.
However, one good thing about this movie is the music videos for Lestat. SInce the videos are included on the DVD, it earns 1 star.
The vampire Lestat & the ancient Queen Akasha .......2007-01-11
After many years of sleeping in his coffin, the vampire Lestat awakens only to find that the world has changed and he wants to be a part of it. He gathers a following and becomes a rock star only to find that his music awakens the ancient Queen Akasha and she wants him to become her king. Worth at least a rental!
Cool movie.......2007-01-10
This movie is one of my favorites. Although at one point it's a little corny, it's overall an awesome movie. It's definitely a plus that Jonathan Davis of Korn does the music. The music is definitely beyond great. I would recommend buying this dvd.

After the romantic courtship and the awkwardness of first dates, Once and Again in its second season settled into charting the growing relationship between fortysomethings Lily (Sela Ward) and Rick (Billy Campbell), who finally shook off all their angst and family pressures to embark on a long-term relationship. And of course, once finally committed in their love for each other, life rudely interrupts what should have been a comfortable, winding road to happily ever after. Rick's architecture firm is hand-picked for a new high-profile project, but it's dogged by community protests and run by the ever-devious Miles Drentell (David Clennon, reprising his shady character from thirtysomething); what's more, Rick's ex-wife, Karen (Susanna Thompson), is the lawyer representing the project's opposition. Lily finds herself as the assistant to a twentysomething entrepreneur at a fledgling dot-com, and the victim of the amorous, non-professional interests of a consultant for the troubled company. She's also faced with the fate of her late father's restaurant, run by her ex-husband, Jake (Jeffrey Nordling), who's charming but not the best of businessmen, and his financial strain soon becomes hers as well. Oh, and then there are the kids: Rick's son Eli (Shane West) would rather start a band than go to college, and daughter Jessie (Evan Rachel Wood) may be anorexic; Lily's daughter Grace (Julia Whelan) falls into a friendship with a troubled girl, and only Zoe (Meredith Deane) seems to be the most normal--that is, when she isn't worried about Rick and his kids moving into her house.
The course of true love never did run smooth, and truth be told, there were a bit too many plot twists cooked up for this season of the Edward Zwick-Marshall Herskovitz drama (including a hostage episode at Jake's restaurant that garnered high ratings), but the creative team behind this show managed a deft balancing act among all the characters and plotlines. Teenage angst co-existed alongside more adult worries, and the specter of professional and money troubles for both Rick and Lily kept the characters grounded in a reality not often seen in television dramas. And in addition to giving all the cast members shining moments, Once and Again developed an extensive number of secondary characters, including Lily's mentally ill brother Aaron (Patrick Dempsey), Jake's flighty girlfriend Tiffany (Ever Carradine), Karen's hunky younger boyfriend (Mark Feuerstein), and an uncredited Edward Zwick as Jessie's therapist. It was the core cast, however, that made Once and Again soar--teen actors West and Whelan broke their characters' stereotypical molds, the young Wood (who would go on to star in thirteen) was outstanding as she navigated blooming adolescence: Nordling and Thompson, as the exes on the periphery, were two of the best supporting actors ever on television. As always, though, Ward and Campbell were the show's heart and soul, always communicating the underlying waves of frustration and anger in their character's facades as well as the love and happiness. Despite low ratings, ABC renewed Once and Again for a third and final season, giving all us fans of great television (and hopeless romantics) one more year with Rick and Lily after this one. --Mark Englehart

Viewing "Once and Again" once again: Brilliant television.......2007-01-01
It's hard to believe that "Once and Again" ever graced our television screens with programming now at an all-time low. It was truly brilliant televison. Never given the audience or the critical respect it deserved, watching episodes of "Once and Again" all over again, I was reminded about how intricate the writing was, the strength of the nuanced life-like performances of all cast members and most especially the most believable pre-teen and teenage characters in televsion drama history. I am still stunned that this program never racked up Emmy Awards even for Outstanding Drama Series.(Sela Ward was honored in the first season as Outstanding Lead Actress, however) If you have never seen it, watch it. You will laugh, and find the journeys these characters take very real and poignant. I still find the episodes from Season two the best..most especially a gut-wrenching performance by ("Grey's Anatomy") Patrick Dempsey as Lily's schizophrenic brother Aaron. Nothing since the finely written drama series of the early 80's ("Hill Street", "St. Elsewhere", "Cagney & Lacey")has moved me more.
Once & Again, Short Lived but what a Great Show.......2006-11-27
When I read the reviews for the pilot episode, I was thinking this is to good to be true. But I was immediately blown away after watching the first 3 episodes and was captivated by it.
For sometime now, I have been searching around for the 3rd season of ONCE & AGAIN. As many of the fans of the series state, this was and still is an incredible show with great actors, directors, and writing. Why the Network canceled such a great show is beyond my comprehension. Could it be that the series was bounced around from night to night that eventually contributed to its demise? I think it was. But then again, networks have show developers that come up with ideas such as these ridiculous reality based [...], and yet they think of this as quality entertaining television?
This series was a breath of fresh air in the midst of a time period where every network was creating and producing "Reality Series [...]"!
PLEASE RELEASE SEASON 3!
Buena Vista - Release Season 3!!!!.......2006-11-20
This was one of the finest written, and acted shows ever on television. The stories were truthful and heartbreaking. The characters flawed and likable. It is a shame for the fans of O&A to have to wait years between the release of the 3 seasons of this show. Especially when you see so many shows of, let's say it, "LESSER QUALITY" like "The Dukes of Hazzard" has SEVEN seasons released. Buena Vista, this is just sad. Release season 3 for the die-hard fans of the show PUHLEEEEEEZE!
Lily, Rick and their fractured families struggle through to the "again" part.......2006-08-05
Watching "Once and Again" is one of the most painful television shows to watch, let along watch again. This is not because it is a bad television show, but because when it comes to dealing with the aftermath of divorce it is the most painfully realistic television show that has aired to date. I would like to be able to identify with Rick, but my personal situation is more like that of Jake, and instead of focusing on the romantic relationships between the adults I keep paying more attention to the pain of the children when they talk about what divorce has done to them. Watching "Once and Again: The Complete Second Season" on DVD, the character I found myself paying attention to more than the first time around when the series aired on ABC was that of Zoe Manning. There is a moment when she reads her parents, Lily and Jake, the riot act regarding being the youngest and not only getting hand me downs from her older sister Grace, but also ending up with less years where the family ("Scribbling Rivalry"). Anybody who has been in a family that has gone through a divorce will find this show hits home time and time again. If you have been spared that particular experience, then I really do not know why you would want what these people go through.
If the first season of "Once and Again" is about Lily Manning and Rick Sammler falling in love, then the second season is about how that relationship has a ripple effect with their family as the inevitability of the relationship forces their children and ex-spouses to a new level of acceptance. There is actually more abut Lily and her new job (e.g., "Scribbling Rivalry") and Rick working on a mega-project for Miles Drentell ("Edifice Wrecked"), than there is about them being with each other. While Lily and Rick are happy, for the most part, everybody else is wallowing in misery to varying degrees, and throughout the season getting all the kids together and on the same page proves to be problematic again and again (e.g, "Feast or Famine"). The major irony is that the dyad I am most interested in is Karen and Jessie, especially knowing what is going to happen to Karen in the third season and what Evan Rachel Wood has done since this show ended (although I am equally impressed by Julie Whalen as a young actress as well). So I tend to pay attention to what each of those characters are doing, albeit for different reasons, but with more of an appreciation of how Jessie is her mother's daughter, which is not always a good thing ("Best of Enemies"), especially since Jessie is having trouble adjusting to high school and stops eating ("Food for Thought").
Having Miles Drentel is a mixed blessing, because while watching David Clennon is always a pleasure, when he becomes a wedge between Rick and David it is like watching Michael and Elliot on "thirtysomething" all over again. But it does inspire a true moment of vision for Rick ("Ozymandias 2.0"), and by the end of the season it becomes clear that the purpose of having Miles around is to bring Rick down to the point that all he can offer Lily is himself at the end because his professional reputation and business are pretty much shot. This becomes important because it means Rick and Lily do not have the money to find a house where their merged families can have enough space to breathe, let alone live. But dramatically the whole bit of Karen and her law firm trying to stop Miles, and Rick, from building their project is more interesting ("Edifice Wrecked"), especially when it seems Rick might end up going to prison ("Won't Someone Please Help George Bailey Tonight"). When the psychiatrist that Jessie is seeing points out that only married people get as angry as Rick and Karen get at each other, it seems so obvious.
This really is a year of one step forward and one step backwards for most of the characters. Jake is the big hero when an emotionally disturbed bus boy shows up at the restaurant with a gun ("The Other End of the Telescope"), but bails on Tiffany when she wants him to be a father to their baby ("Forgive Us Out Trespasses"). Judy comes up with the great idea of "Booklovers," despite Lily's negativity, but needs the entire rest of the season to figure out Will Gluck. Eli has found something he likes and is good at with his music ("I Can't Stand Up For Falling Down"), but is unable to build on it as his problems with school and romance continue. Note: why Rick and Karen wasted time letting Eli apply to the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana is beyond me, because I have taught there and my oldest daughter is graduating from there this December. I have to tell you that unless Eli is going on a basketball scholarship, he is not getting it to that school and thinking he had a chance was a totally unrealistic expectation. So, my question is whether the people who put the show together know this was a big mistake and it is an insight into Eli's parents, or simply me once again reading way too much into the situation.
My only real complaint is that this time around it becomes clearer to me that Lily is really way too judgmental. At least when she does not immediately accept Rick's proposal (another painfully true moment for me), she does not leave him hanging for long and I liked the way he found out she had accepted his ring. The fact that season two ends with the wedding ("The Second Time Around") might seem like the end of the story, but only if you make the mistake of thinking "Once and Again" was simply about Lily getting remarried. It really is about trying to make two families one, which is why fans are sitting around waiting for the third and unfairly final (and incomplete) season to come out on DVD.

Description
After years of slumber, the legendary vampire has awakened and found acceptance in a tattooed, pierced and black-clad world. He's a rock star. And his awesome punk-chic sound has echoed around the globe...and stirred to life the fearsome Mother of All Vampires. Based on "The Vampire Chronicles" by Anne Rice, whose work previously came to the screen in "Interview with the Vampire."

Rick (Billy Campbell) and Lily (Sela Ward) are fortysomething parents with two kids; both are still feeling the repercussions of their failed first marriages; both are haplessly single and consumed by their family identities (plus, let's just face it, both are gorgeous beyond belief). Dropping off their respective kids at school in their respective SUVs, they spy each other across a crowded driveway. Granted, it's not terribly romantic, but sparks fly and tentatively, embarrassingly, like teenagers, they embark on a first date--awkward conversation and fumbling make-out sessions in cars included. So begins the acclaimed TV series Once and Again from producers Edward Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz, the guys who brought you über-sensitive dramas thirtysomething and My So-Called Life. And like those award-winning shows, Once and Again mines the mundane and ordinary to find extraordinary drama, tackling both midlife crisis and teen angst, as Rick and Lily's kids (most notably heartthrob Shane West and blooming wallflower Julia Whelan) navigate the perils of high school while their parents traverse the mine field of adult romance, with ex-spouses and disapproving family members lurking in the shadows.
The first season takes Rick and Lily from first date alone to first date en famille, in which their respective broods finally meet and confront the fact that their parents--gasp!--like each other. Along the way, there's amazing writing, pitch-perfect direction that takes scenes from comedy to drama in seamless swoops, and a tight-knit ensemble that hits all the right notes. Ward won an Emmy for this first season as the anxiety-ridden Lily, but she's equally matched by the quietly stunning Campbell, and their interaction is touching, funny, sexy, and heartbreaking--everything you could want in a romance, and more. --Mark Englehart

JUST LOVE IT.......2006-11-21
I love this show. I would recommend it to anyone. I wish it was still on the air. I like that it includes the kids and the ex-spouses.
Herskovitz and Zwick bring the drama of divorce to prime time television.......2006-07-18
I do not know if I can take another television series created by Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick. When they came out with "thirtysomething" in 1987 it was like watching our lives on TV. I can still remember all the married couples that talked about how they recognized themselves in the myriad machinations of Michael, Hope and the gang. Then in 1999 they came back with "Once and Again," and all I can is that I hate to think what would have happened if I was not already where the characters ended up in the third season, because if I was still in first season mode when this aired it would have been way too painful. In fact, I would maintain that there will always be moments from this series that will threaten to rip off the scabs, twist the knife, or at least keep you up all night because they hit too close to home for those who have been involved with a divorce.
You might have heard originally the idea with "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" was for Mary Richards to be divorced, and they could not get that idea to fly because the networks thought audiences would think Laura had divorced Rob Petrie. But divorces are so painful, despite their regularity on soap opears, that there have been other concerns with having a show that is about divorce. "Once and Again" is more about life (and love) after divorce, and the series dodges a major bullet by making sure the principle couple to be are already divorced and separated respectively when they first meet and sparks start to fly despite the train wrecks that are their lives. This television series might be too painful to watch for some (I want to be Rick but I know I am a lot closer to Jake and that conclusion certainly hurts), but that is what happens with shows that are real rather than merely being considered reality programming.
The fortysomethings in the main spotlight are Lily Manning (Sela Ward), who kicked her husband Jake (Jeffrey Nordling) out of the house for having an affair, and architect Rick Sammler (Bill Campbell), who has been divorced for three years from Karen (Susanna Thompson). Lily works part-time at a bookshop with her sister, Judy Brooks (Marin Hinkle), while Jake runs the restaurant once owned by Lily and Judy's father, and Karen is a lawyer. Both ex-couples have two children. Living with Lily are Grace (Julia Whelan), an awkward high school freshman, and young Zoe (Meredith Deane), who has the ability to ask the pointed question at the wrong moment. Living with Karen but frequently visiting Rick are Eli (Shane West), a high school junior who plays basketball and has some sort of learning disability, and Jessie (Evan Rachel Wood in the role that first got out attention), who is smart, thin, and working on her black belt in tae kwan doe.
Lily and Rick meet at the high school when Grace has an injured ankle and Eli has academic problems, and from the start the couple find they are embarrassments to their children ("Pilot"). Rick is clearly smitten and Lily is surprised to find herself enjoying a relationship with another man ("Let's Spend the Night Together"), which is not easy when she finds herself working with his ex-wife at a school carnival ("The Scarlet Letter Jacket") and her sister clearly disapproves of the guy ("Liars and Other Strangers") and his involvement in Lily's life ("A Dream Deferred"). Meanwhile the kids have resorted to parallel euphemisms: Lily is "The Mom" and Rick is "The Dad" and have to deal with their own teenager crises in terms of sprained ankles ("The Ex-Files"), out of control parties ("Outside Hearts"), and the revolving door of adolescent affection ("Sneaky Feelings," "Daddy's Girl"). Then there are the ups and downs of the love lives of both Judy ("The Mystery Dance") and Karen ("Cat-in-Hat"), in the wake of Lily and Rick's romance, as well as Jake's ongoing involvement with young Tiffany (Ever Carradine) becoming painfully clear to Grace ("Letting Go").
There is a major subplot in the first season regarding Lily's father, Phil (Paul Mazursky), who shows up for "Thanksgiving" expecting things to be patched up between Lily and Jake, who is clearly more like a son than a son-in-law, to Lily's absolute frustration. Add to the interpersonal complications, which includes Lily's brother Aaron (Patrick Dempsey), the escalating financial problems of Jake that are putting the house that Lily and her daughters live in at risk ("Mediation"), and force Lily to go out and fin a job ("My Brilliant Career"). As for Rick, Herskovitz and Zwick introduce him to a new circle of hell when who else but familiar face by Miles Dentrell (David Clennon), who has relocated to the Chicago area from Philadelphia. The conceit of the series was the use of black-and-white "interview" segments where the characters admit to themselves things they would never say aloud. This matters on "Once and Again" because getting these characters to say what they are thinking without being prompted by anger or fear is often difficult and our feelings towards Grace, Judy and Karen are tempered because of these moments where their pain becomes most clear. The season ends with an indication that the genesis for this series might have been the romance between Lily and Rick, but that what it is really going to be about in the next two seasons is how these two families become one, while maintaining tangible links to the families they were in the past ("A Door, About to Open").
3rd once and again.......2006-05-30
i wish that there would come out with the 3rd season of once and again i just love that show soooo much. i wish it was still on tv.
Young Evan Rachel Wood is Hollywood's best young actress.......2006-03-01
If you have not seen this series, I strongly urge you to give it a try. Young Evan Rachel Wood is simply the best teenage actress in all of Hollywood! My heart just ached for her, as her character dealt with the problems of her parents being divorced. Evan, you are the best!
Came because of Sela Ward. Stayed because it was a phenomenal show.......2006-01-04
There are very few shows in my lifetime that I have been fiercely loyal to, but the now defunct `Once and Again' without question, topped that short list.
I will admit that my lifelong crush on actress Sela Ward was my main interest in this series, originally. Single, with no kids, and in my late 20s during O&A's debut, I was far out of ABC's target demographic for this show. I didn't expect to like the show very much, but I got sucked in not because of Sela, but because the show was nothing less than fantastic.
Superbly acted and superbly written, ABC never gave this show a chance to find its audience, and it bounced around from time slot to time slot until it's all too early demise. Even the best shows need to be pitched correctly to viewing audiences to have a chance. The premise of the story is of Rick Samler and Lily Manning, two fortysomething single parents who re-enter the adult dating scene after their divorces. They fall head over heels for one another, and find that life and love in the (then) late 1990s is far different than what they remember. Adding children, careers, parents, and ex-spouses to the mix just adds different layers of complications and challenges for Rick and Lily.
Most shows `jump the shark' at some point during their lifetimes. While some could argue that the hostage episode in S2 was that point for O&A, I disagree. Once and Again always presented two kinds of television : good, and better. The stories and characters could fill you with hope, heartbreak, or both every week almost without fail. And best of all - everything about this show was real. Very little, if any, suspension of disbelief was required.
Perhaps the best thing I can say about O&A is that it is the only show that I was so passionate about saving, that I sat down and wrote a letter to ABC, asking them to reconsider their canceling of it (as part of an organized campaign with other fans). While the campaign wasn't successful, the release (finally) of the series on DVD will allow those who loved this show then to enjoy it forever, as well as allow those who didn't get to view O&A during its run to discover it, and they too, might find out why we who followed this show from the beginning understood that this was just a beautiful story.

Customer Reviews:
SPACESHIP-WRECK SURVIVORS.......2007-01-27
Transport crashes onto hostile planet.
The usual crew and passengers(Claudia Black),
and bounty-hunter(Cole Hauser) with murderer(Vin Diesel).
The worst kind of murderer, experienced, smart, with piloting skills.
Monsters (billions of 'em) and mazes.
What should you do when it's hopeless?
Give up hope, and then work the problem!
DRAMA,ACTION,THRILLER,VIOLENCE,DRUGS
