Customer Reviews:
The lost of the title was not random.......2007-06-13
I didn't know if someone already told that on the millions of blogs that certainly are on for this great show. Surely I'm not the one to think that. But I think that due to the final episode from the third season I solved the mistery. The island from lost is the paradise lost from the Bible.
Even if i'm clueless here, that doesn't matter at all, since Lost is again a great show. Do not miss this pack dude.
THIS MUST BE RELEASED IN SEPTEMBER.......2007-06-11
What the hell is going on??? Are we trapped in hatch? The season will not begin until '08 - this MUST be diagnosed and examined - and releasing it on the 11th of December before the holidays is another American Holiday rip off. Fans will purchase this on the day of release. It must be studied to enjoy and become enraptured with the new season. Get real studio heads; this is a BIG gap between seasons - you will lose viewers. Get with it and release it early enough since we do not get an autumn easter egg. PLEASE!
Bounce Back.......2007-06-06
This season of Lost is on par with the first. Season 2 was definitely a dip in quality and excitement, but these episodes redeem the show completely. The addition of Juliet was a big plus in my opinion - she's one of the most interesting characters. This season is full of answers and also new questions, in typical Lost fashion. It's an exciing ride, from start to finish.
Amazing .......2007-06-05
I guess now that I think about it, season two was a little step backward from season one. The season two finale almost made up for it, but overall, season two was just boring and felt like the plot took forever to get moving. Season three is one giant leap forward, and might even be my favorite season so far. I personally didn't hate the first six episodes. I thought they were ok. I was disappointed with how little happened though. When it came back in Feb, it started to be awesome again. Every episode (with the exception of possibly the worst lost episode ever "expose") was great. This season also had some of the best lost episodes ever in my opinion. The episode where we learn how Locke got into the wheelchair could very well be the best episode of Lost ever! There were revelations and answers everywhere. There were also more things explored, and even more questions raised. The season finale, was one of the best I've ever seen. Not a lot gets answered, but the last minute of the show absolutely changes the entire show's future....literally. Lost's season finales' are always great.
The best show on television.......2007-06-05
I have been an avid LOST watcher from day one of the series. I think the characters and plots are fantastic and season three was no exception. If you like suspense and drama this is the TV show for you.
I think this is by far the best show on TV. I just think it is awful that all of us that love this show have to wait until December 11th to purchase the 3rd season. Oh Well, I know it will be worth it!

Emma Thompson scores a double bull's-eye with this marvelous adaptation of Jane Austen's novel. Not only does Thompson turn in a strong (and gently humorous) performance as one of the Dashwood sisters--the one with "sense"--she also wrote the witty, wise screenplay. Austen's tale of 19th-century manners and morals provides a large cast with a feast of possibilities, notably Kate Winslet, in her pre-<I>Titanic</I> flowering, as Thompson's deeply romantic sister. Winslet attracts the wooing of shy Alan Rickman (a nice change of pace from his bad-guy roles) and dashing Greg Wise, while Thompson must endure an incredibly roundabout courtship with Hugh Grant, here in fine and funny form. All of this is doled out with the usual eye-filling English countryside and handsome costumes, yet the film always seems to be about the careful interior lives of its characters. The director, an inspired choice, is Taiwan-born Ang Lee, who brings the same exquisite taste and discreet touch he displayed in his previous Asian films (such as <I>Eat Drink Man Woman</I>). Thompson's script won an Oscar, and 1995 was a fine year for Jane Austen all around: <I>Persuasion</I> was made into an excellent picture, and <I>Emma</I> became the spritzy high school comedy <I>Clueless</I>. <I>--Robert Horton</I>
Customer Reviews:
Chick Flick.......2007-06-08
This adaptation of Jane Austen's Sense & Sensibility was an exceptional one. With the starring cast who could hardly go wrong. Enjoy!!
Anything by Jane.......2007-06-04
My favorite movie of ALL TIME!! Anything by Jane Austin is wonderful and Emma Thompson did a wonderful adaptation of this story.
Sense and Sensibility.......2007-06-04
An attractive and intelligent presentation of Jane Austen's interesting novel. The acting is superb; the settings are lovely.
EXCELLENT adaptation of Sense & Sensibility!.......2007-05-30
A "MUST HAVE" for the J. Austen fans and the DVD collection! The sisters (Elinor and Marianne) were well-portrayed by Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet. I especially liked the actress who portrayed Ms Lucy Steele-- the body language, the facial expressions, etc. were so effective in portending the true nature of this character (who was found to be quite conniving and insidious in her engagement with Edward and later his brother Robert). With the exception of the male actor who played the Colonel, I found the female actresses to be more convincing in their portrayal of the female characters in Sense and Sensibility. Overall, this film adaptation remains quite true to the book story line. One would not have to read the book in order to understand the film story line. I enjoyed watching it and was glad to have this DVD in my collection!
What's not to love!.......2007-05-15
The cinematography is beautiful, the soundtrack amazing, honesty of the characters and Austen's story. This movie sucks me in every time-- and I confess to weeping along with Elinor at Edwards's confession... every time. This is a keeper!

<I>Frequency</I> is really two different--though inextricably linked--movies. First, the emotional drama of a father and son reunited after 30 years of separation. Then there's a science fiction thriller, in which a couple of chance solar storms, occurring exactly 30 years apart, can provide the agency through which the father and son can communicate using the very same ham radio in parallel time frames of 1969 and 1999. The son is John Sullivan (Jim Caviezel), a cop, and his father is Frank (Dennis Quaid), a firefighter who died on the job when John was 6, which just happens to be tomorrow for Frank when he and his now-adult son begin talking across time. This is great for John, because now he can warn his dad about the upcoming fire and avert the catastrophe that left him fatherless for most of his life. Accomplishing this gives John new memories of his life with Dad, but unfortunately alters the course of a serial killer, with tragic effect on John's family history. Since John's a cop, and the case he's working on turns out to be the same unsolved case from 30 years before, he and his father work together over the ham radio to solve the case and hopefully avert the tragedy that befell their family.
Time-travel stories have always been problematic, demanding either an extra degree of credulity on the part of the audience or an extra level of explanation on the part of storytellers, which is invariably cumbersome. <I>Frequency</I> handles the troublesome time paradoxes by having John explain how, having altered his past, he now experiences both timelines, as if he's had two pasts that converge in his present. And as changes continue to be wrought in John's past, we see him becoming more and more confused. No doubt the audience can sympathize, at least those of us who try to follow the ramifications of the rapidly accruing time fractures. Luckily, the bond between father and son is so strongly realized in the deeply felt performances of both Caviezel and Quaid that you don't even need to consider the science fiction elements in order to enjoy the film. But if you can suspend your disbelief long enough to allow for the possibility of time shifts, you'll have a far richer experience. <I>--Jim Gay</I>

Making it Right.......2007-06-18
Frequency is a remarkable movie. I just discovered it and am glad to see that others continue to add their comments here. First, I must applaud the premise - the use of a ham radio as the device that connects father and son in a supernatural way. My uncle was a ham radio operator and even taught classes. It had a tremendous mystique all its own.
Dennis Quaid is fabulous. He effortlessly portrays Frank Sullivan, a man who is passionate about his values, devoted to his family, and larger than life as a fireman. The movie opens to this father's heroic rescue of a pair of workers trapped underground after a tanker crash. He comes right home to the wife he loves, the son he loves -- John, his "Little Chief" -- in the home he loves; he has it all. Moving forward thirty years, we meet the adult John. James Caviezel tears me to pieces in these early scenes as we learn that this father died in a fire 30 years ago. John is a cop working homicide. He is still living in the house he grew up in. He did not completely recover from his father's death. He drinks to find numbness and his girlfriend (who he loves) walks out on him. But he is a good man in his own right. His mother's phone number is on his speed-dial and he takes the time to stay involved in her life. On this difficult night in October 1999, as he approaches the anniversary of his father's death, his childhood friend Gordo (Noah Emmerich - The Truman Show) helps set up his father's old ham radio that they find looking for fishing gear under the stairs. Later, with the aurora borealis glistening overhead, father and son make contact on this radio over the distance of 30 years. Awesome! My favorite scene on the DVD is captioned "Catching Up," and takes place after a skeptical Frank, up to his ears in smoke and flames, follows his son's frantic warning that he should "go the other way" to safety rather than the death that John remembered. On returning home unscathed, Frank, accidentally wakes his six-year old son, evolving into a joyous bike-riding lesson. He then finds adult John's voice on the ham and they catch up. At one point, Frank asks adult John if he is still his "Little Chief" and James Caviezel's tearful reply "I'm trying to be" is profound. Dennis Quaid and James Caviezel run with their roles here. They are two great American actors at work.
The entire cast is wonderful. Elizabeth Mitchell as wife and mother plays so much love and strength into her role. The screenplay, by Toby Emmerich, brother of Noah, is tight, tender and imaginative. (The brothers do a great commentary together on the DVD special features.) The crime-thriller sub-plot is gripping and the ending satisfying.
Let's rewrite H.G. Wells.......2007-06-16
A thriller that associates many interesting elements. First a serial killer, running after him, trying to stop him, in the radical way of today, a good self-defense shot. Then a fireman (yes not very politically correct: firefighter it should have been, but in 1969...) father and heroism, and dying on duty. Then a nurse mother, which is rather banal but explains the overworking schedule of the mother and the over-protective attitude. Then a time warp that happens in a strange way, through an old radio from the time before transistors and computers, with beautiful lamps and diodes. The orphaned son of the fireman father in 1999 gets in contact through this radio with his father in 1969 or about and they try to stop the killer. After discovering he is a cop. And it works, and the past is changed, and the future of that past is changed, hence the past future is no longer what it could have been or should have been and is what we would have liked it to be. Father, son et grand son. Grandfather, father and son. Three generations instead of two and the orphaned son of the second generation no longer being unable to cope with starting the third generation. Typically American: the desire to change the past, the only thing you cannot change. The future? Maybe if you try hard, and yet without any guarantee. But the past, no way, no hope, and yet there is always an American somewhere who is trying and believing Auschwitz can disappear in thin air. But the most difficult part of the film is the constant shifting from one time to another without being very clear all the time where we stand or are. Except that we get confused after a while.

Outstanding movie. Thank you Amazon........2007-06-14
Though FREQUENCY is a bit old but has a brilliant story. Everything is perfect. I searched for the complete DVD in our local shops (in Sri Lanka) but couldn't find. You know, most of the movies are copies and they don't have the complete stuff (making the movie, discussions, deleted scenes, etc.).
About the service of Amazon, I should say THANK YOU. When I put my order it said that the item should arrive between June 14, 2007 - July 25, 2007 and I got it yesterday (June 13). Simply brilliant. This is my second order with Amazon and I will definitely continue.
Frequency.......2007-05-12
Frequency is a totally different story-line than the usual fair and
a much overlooked fantastic movie. It certainly never received the
attention it should have. It is a movie you'll never forget and
definately want to own. If it seems slow at the beginning, stay
with it -- it gets really dramatic and when you figure out what is
going on, you'll be intriqued. Great Movie!
My Alltime Favorite Movie!!!!!.......2007-05-08
This has to be the most underrated movie ever. It has incredible performances from two incredible actors (Dennis Quaid is awesome and Jim Caviezel is beyond awesome!!!) It keeps you on the edge of your seat nearly through the entire movie, and it has some awesome plot twists. I highly recommend this movie!!! Buy it because you will want to watch it again and again!
p.s. The music is also great! If you don't like the song "When You Come Back to Me Again", there is something wrong with you.

Lane Myer (John Cusack) is stuck in a personal hell. A compulsive, adolescent Everyman growing up in Suburbia, USA, not only does he fail to make the prestigious high school ski team (again), but his beloved sweetheart, Beth, also leaves him for Roy, the team's popular, arrogant captain. If this isn't bad enough, he's stuck with a mother who frighteningly experiments--rather than cooks--with food, a brother who builds rockets out of models, and a best friend so desperate for drugs that he settles for snorting powdered snow. Faced with these prospects, Lane opts to end it all ... until he comes up with a ridiculous plan to gain acceptance and win Beth back. Director Savage Steve Holland warps this simple, clichéd premise, letting his wacky imagination twist it into a fairly original, slightly dark, and completely hilarious '80s teen comedy. Not as serious a "suicide-attempt" movie as, say, <I>Harold and Maude</I> but just as funny, the film's more a collection of screwball sketches than a narrative. Holland livens the high jinks with surrealistic fantasy touches, including Jell-O that crawls, a hamburger that sings Van Halen, drawings that mock its creator, Japanese race-car drivers who only speak Howard Cosell, and a psychotic paperboy seeking blood over a missing $2. Cusack puts the whole thing on his shoulders and carries the insanity with another one of his touching, obsessively romantic performances, which, along with <I>Say Anything</I>, <I>The Sure Thing</I>, and <I>One Crazy Summer, made him the quintessential (and appealing) personification of lovestruck adolescence and suffering. <I>--Dave McCoy</I>

One for your collection.......2007-06-10
If you are looking for a corky, funny movie this is it. One of my all time favorites.
This flick is genius! TWO DOLLARS!.......2007-05-29
Who else loves this film? Apparently, John Cusack doesn't. Oh well!
The film is about a teenager, Lane Meyer, who is ridiculously obsessed with his girlfriend. After breaking up with her, he tries suicide. Of course, the attempts backfire on him. Meanwhile, she's with a new guy, Roy, captain of the ski team, and he's trying to avoid a paperboy who will try anything to acquire his two dollars, and unbearable events at his house with his off the wall family members. Fortunately, Lane's neighbors have taken in a French exchange student, Monique Junot, who seems to have a crush on Lane. Meanwhile, Lane has to defeat Roy in order to get his girlfriend's respect...
"Better Off Dead..." is DEFINITELY one of the greatest teen comedies ever conceived. It's truly an original, off the wall, hilarious film. Cusack will always be Lane Meyer to me.
Classic 80s.......2007-05-23
I love this movie! I watched several times when I was a kid and loved it. It was a must for my DVD collection. Hilarious, classic one-liners!
rofl.......2007-05-14
This movie is a must for anyone with a sense of humor. Cusak is witty and funny portraying the feelings of the average teen with great skill. The plot, characters, and everything in-between are simply perfect for its time and their value still carries today.

There's a reason why Cindy Crawford was dubbed "Baby Gia" when she first hit the modeling scene. Indeed, Crawford, now the world's best-known supermodel, greatly resembled model Gia Carangi, who went from high school to the cover of British <I>Vogue</I> in less than two years. Carangi appeared on many more covers of <I>Vogue</I> (French, British, Italian, and American) and <I>Cosmopolitan</I> before dying of complications from AIDS (she was an IV heroin user) in 1986. Now most people recognize Carangi's name from this powerful HBO film that stars Golden Globe-winner Angelina Jolie, who comes by her talent honestly. Jolie is the daughter of veteran actor Jon Voight, and her own training as a model serves her well--she has the moves. Throughout, she's heartbreaking--as no doubt the real Carangi was--effective, and stunning.
With good source material (Stephen Fried's <I>A Thing of Beauty: The Tragedy of Supermodel Gia</I>), Jolie's stunning performance, and strong directing by Michael Cristofer, the movie goes beyond the merely sensational. The script was cowritten by Cristofer and novelist Jay McInerney, whose <I>Bright Lights, Big City</I> covers similar territory. As a cautionary tale, <I>Gia</I> works. But to watch Jolie in her character's tragic self-destruction is utterly compelling. <I>--N.F. Mendoza</I>
Description
It's late 70's New York. Studio 54, designer jeans, drugs and disco. This is the outrageous, breathtaking story of the first fashion super-model - her rise to the top, and her fall caught up in a whirlwind of drugs, sex and celebrity.<P><b>DVD Features:</b>

cast better than direction.......2007-05-30
Cast is excellent, Jolie totally believable. 4 stars because of her.
Something bugs me about direction. At times "told" as documentary, at times overdramatized... It's like director wasn't quite sure how to tell the story.
Script also has a few holes in it, for people not familiar with Gia Carangi story - Why wasn't her mother there for her, ever? What happened to her friends? Actually what happened to all the people a person in her 20s has around her? Was her agent not only her second mother but also the only friend?
And finally, what was it about Gia that propelled her into stratosphere, just like that?
On last note, this film will most likely leave you feeling "heavy" and depressed.
Who knew?.......2007-05-18
In this true life portrayal of Gia Marie Carangi's life, Angeline Jolie lays the ground work for her monumental arrival to the big screen. I think with this film, Jolie establishes herself as the most courageous actress to grace the scene in quite sometime. On another note, it's sad that someone as beautiful as Gia Carangi struggled with so many demons. You never know what's going on in someone's mind. In any event, Angelina Jolie is magnificent!
Buena........2007-05-09
Angelina como la queremos ver!
Con cruel exposición de la realidad del mundo del modelage.
Sad Girl Sad Life.......2007-05-01
I watched this movie because my daughter was watching it. What a sad story. I think all young girls at one time or another wish they could be in a magazine. Most forget about it as they pursue real careers that would satisfy them. There were two lines in the movie that really struck me,one from the actor that played the famed photographer Frances Scuvullo, who states "We use them up and throw them away"!And one from the main character Gia(Angelina Jolie) I go on go sees, I go, but they don't see me.Gia should have had a parent with her. She was 17 years old when she entered the business. From the movie part Gia seemed to want her mother to stay with her and she couldn't or wouldn't, you don't really know. Also where were her friends when she began this spiral downward? Sad story about to much, too fast and no guidance.
Well acted by Mother Thresea, oh I mean Angelina........2007-04-04
What really bugs me about this type of movie is - girl/boy from no where gets the opportunity of 1 million lifetimes and then blows everything because they use drugs as a excuse for their crappy past life baggage they insist on letting interfere with their present life. What a waste of life and time and money. Enjoy.

Trying to explain the wildly accelerated plot of this non-stop action thriller would be like convincing Quentin Tarantino to retell the saga of The Sopranos in 15-minutes or less. Don't misunderstand, Running Scared wastes little time on the nuanced details that make the violent, narratively precise, and intricately characterized world of The Sopranos so stylish and compelling. But boy, does it have style to spare, not to mention plenty of violence, narrative, and a cast of characters that all engage in a heady battle for your attention. Paul Walker has the unenviable task of fleshing out the role of a low-level mob flunky who's assigned to get rid of a gun that was involved in a bloody drug deal gone bad. When he botches even that little job, it's not just his wife who gets mad at him. Creepily threatened kids, put-upon women who save the day, and an array of pimps, hookers, sleazy gangsters and dirty cops straight ouuta central casting are all part of the intricate jumble of the story (not to mention bullet-time close-ups and a nifty scene that imparts the inherent danger of hockey pucks in a whole new light). It's hard to believe this outlandish piece of ultraviolence came from writer/director Wayne Kramer, the same creative mind that gave us the smooth little caper flick The Cooler. Don't think about that too hard though. Considering the madcap rush of Running Scared's wicked fun and inspired lunacy, you won't have the time to anyway. --Ted Fry
Description
Slick, fast-paced and brutally shocking, this gritty actioner will jolt your senses like nothing else you've ever experienced. Struggling mob hand Joey Gazelle (Paul Walker) finds his life turned inside-out when a "hot" weapon he's in charge of concealing goes missing. With two mafia families and a team of crooked cops watching his every move, Joey sets out on a chilling, bloody pursuit, maneuvering his way through a horrific web of creeps and criminals, praying he can retrieve the gun and make it home to his family -- alive.
Customer Reviews:
GOOD ACTION FILM MUCH BETTER THAN AVERAGE.......2007-05-31
This movie is way better than I expected. The action never stops and the story is interesting enough to keep you in the groove. The DVD transfer is excellent and is a worth a look for sure.
Disappointing.......2007-05-28
I don't know why I expected more out of Running Scared, but I did. The film is written and directed by Wayne Kramer, the same guy who brought us the surprisingly good and stylish The Cooler, but when watching Running Scared, you'll never think that this movie can come from the same guy. Paul Walker plays Joey, a low level mob hood who is charged with the disposal of a gun that was used to ventilate a cop. Next thing you know, his kid and neighbor Oleg (Cameron Bright) discover the weapon which Oleg later uses on his abusive stepfather (Karel Roden). Now Joey has a barrage of mobsters, crooked cops, pimps, drug dealers, euro-trash, and more on his tail. Yeah, the story itself takes a back seat to Kramer's ultra stylish and ultra violent set pieces which continuously up the ante in terms of bloodshed. One scene in particular involving hockey pucks is worth the price of admission alone, but as a whole Running Scared fails. While Kramer's got style to spare, his leading man is what ultimately ruins the film. Paul Walker is not a good actor by any stretch of the imagination. His frequent over-acting is nerve grating, while Kramer's script features plenty of corny dialogue and an abundance of swearing that would make a sailor blush. The rest of the cast, which includes Chazz Palminteri, Johnny Messner, and the Departed's Vera Farmiga, are also wasted as well. All in all, Running Scared may be worth a look for action and adrenaline junkies, but don't expect much from it at all.
Paul Walker best action Movie !.......2007-05-10
Creo que una de mis peliculas favoritas de este actor, complementado con la belleza de Vera Farmiga hacen que esta pelicula de accion te haga permanecer sentado y agitado. creo que la historia esta bien estructurada y contada magnificamente... no dude en comprarla !!
Good, but still Paul Walker..........2007-04-28
I was actually very surprised at enjoying this movie . There are a hand full of seens that are really, really good . The plot is good enough to hold your interest, and the climax is worth the wait. I never had any interest in Running Scared , because it stars Paul(worst actor in the world) Walker . He is one of a increasingly large number of talentless actors who I can't stand to watch . In the spirit of that theme, I will note that he adds nothing significant to this movie. Actually I could think of many actors who could have done a better job with the role . His character, Joey, spends the majority of the movie evading multiple groups of dangerous people who are looking for him , and trying to find a gun that was in his care and was used in two seperate crimes . I would recommend seeing it, and I will probably watch it again myself .
Bizarre and Surreal ... But Also Corny.......2007-03-21
Bottom line: If you're looking for a good popcorn action movie, pick this up ... now! There is no reason to give this movie a bad review, so I'm not going to. It's obvious that the director valued style over substance. But there's nothing wrong with that ... after all ... it is a very visually stylish movie. The ending WAS pretty corny, unecessary, unrealisting, and dragged on for about 15 minutes too long ... but, again, I really think the director was just openly and unabashedly toying with the audience at that point.
Other than that ... there IS a scene in this movie that's so good it also makes the movie a must-see. I wont go into great detail, but it is one of the eeriest scenes I've seen in a film in a long time ... and yet somehow (especially given the graphic nature of the rest of the film) subtle. I mean, Kubrick would have loved this scene ... and so did I, especially because Paul Walker wasnt in it.
Check it out.

How about a new villain and a dash of <I>It's a Wonderful Life</I> to spice up the third installment of the popular Tim Allen holiday franchise? Under the onslaught of another Christmas season, Santa Claus/Scott Calvin (Allen) is feeling even more pressure because Mrs. Claus (Elizabeth Mitchell, reprising her role from <I>The Santa Clause 2</I>) is expecting a little Claus and also longing for the company of some "tall people." So Scott agrees to let her parents (Ann-Margret and Alan Arkin) visit as long as they believe that they're really in Canada rather than at the North Pole. Further complicating matters is a visit by Scott's ex-wife (Wendy Crewson), her husband (Judge Reinhold), and their daughter, Lucy (Liliana Mumy). Enter the bad boy of the Council of Legendary Figures, Jack Frost (Martin Short), who's supremely jealous of the figures who have their own holidays, especially Santa. So he launches a plan to sabotage the toy factory and compel Scott to invoke the little-known Escape Clause and wish he'd never become Santa. The resulting evocation of a classic Christmas movie, <I>It's a Wonderful Life</I>, is seasoned with a splash of <I>Back to the Future</I> when Scott rewinds 12 years (has it really been that long?) to when it all began. Though neither sequel has matched the charm of the original <I>Santa Clause</I>, both have been safe, reliable family fare. (All ages: some crude humor) <I>--David Horiuchi</I>
Description
Walt Disney Pictures presents the next hilarious holiday comedy in the hit Santa Clause movie tradition, starring Tim Allen and now featuring Martin Short as Jack Frost. Customer Reviews:
A Decent Movie, that Kids would enjoy.......2007-04-26
It wasn't the best movie, and granted it was probably the weakest of the three, but as long as the kids enjoyed it, and judging by their reviews they did, I'm happy.
This movie started out strong, but towards the end, it felt rushed. Like the director and the production team realized they were running out of time and had to wrap the movie up ASAP. But, it was still decent. It was better than half the crap they have out in the movie theaters now.
Will I buy this DVD? Of course. I have the first two, and I can't leave the trilogy open. And the bonus features are a big plus from me.
wow.......2007-03-25
this is my favorite one out of the seris it very fast paced i never got bored at all watching this movie unlike the second movie you need 2 see the first one to understand it clearly yes u good understand it without seeing the first one but it helps u follow through once the escape claus happens though it is now out of theaters when it comes out on dvd in november see it u won't regret it!
Excelent !!.......2007-02-13
I loved it. I love Tim and think he makes his best effort in every movie.
for my granddaughter Sasha.......2007-02-09
Great family movie. Sasha, age 6, loves the movie. She focused on a secondary character (Jack Frost)
and has almost instant recall on all things concerning him, music of the film, and plot. She is amazing. For fun I am trying to find out the
COLOR of Jack Frosts shoes in the movie Santa Claus 3, the Escape...
she didnt remember seeing his shoes and she wants to know every detail!
DOES ANYONE KNOW THE COLOR OF JACK's shoes?????????? Costume designer's
names is Ingrid Ferrin. Dont know how to contact her to get this answered.
THANKS!!!!!! Grandma in Texas.
This movie gets a big fat PASS from me, because ... .......2006-12-30
First of all, the trailer was the best part of the movie & had me expecting a totally different story ...
Second, the story I got turned out to be the "Grinch Who Stole Christmas" crossed with "It's A Wonderful Life" (the latter of which was even more boring than this hokey remake) & doesn't that therefore make "Santa Clause 3" SO cliche & SO done before?!
Third, the kids in the audience seemed to enjoy it, but MAN was I bored! (& I actually enjoyed the original Santa Clause, so I can't blame the boredom factor on the fact that this is supposed to be a kids' movie ... )
Fourth, I found the Christmas council to be extremely offensive (read: inappropriately pagan for a movie that is ostensibly about Christmas).
*****WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP!*****SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT!*****READ NO FARTHER IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY SEEN THE MOVIE!*****
Fifth, I found Jack Frost's conversion to be ...
zzzzzzzzzzz
Whazzat? Oof. I must have dozed off for a minute. Sorry. Now what was I saying? Oh yeah. Poor, pitiful, evil Jack Frost.
(ho hum)
Wouldn't it have been much better to kill him off than convert him? I mean, come ON. Is the converted Jack Frost supposed to be an improvement? YUCKY. He's disgusting! I liked him much better as a villain. Better hair. Better duds. I say: just freeze him off next to a wooly mammoth & be done with him. Or bring him back in next year's sequel (because you know there's going to be one). For goodness' sake. Do we always have to embrace our inner icicle? (hurl)
& sixth -- not only Jack -- but there was SO much about this movie that just didn't make sense!
(yawn)
Okay, I'm done with it. It's not even worth the time I took for it ...

One of the best mystery tales of all time, <I>The Moonstone</I>, based on Wilkie Collins' 1868 novel, is the story of a stolen Hindu diamond that makes its way into the care of Franklin Blake (Greg Wise of <I>Sense and Sensibility</I>). Acting as executor of the estate of the late Colonel John Herncastle (Terrence Hardiman), Franklin is obliged to deliver the diamond, called the Moonstone, to Herncastle's niece, Rachel Verinder (Keeley Hawes of <I>Tipping the Velvet</I>). The two fall in love, but after the disappearance of the Moonstone, Rachel refuses to speak to Franklin or anyone else, and rebuffs an investigation by a renowned detective (Antony Sher), who suspects Rachel herself is involved with the apparent theft. The long trail to the truth is endlessly surprising, requiring the participation of a number of fascinating characters who each contribute something to the solution. A handsome production directed by Robert Bierman (<I>Vampire's Kiss</I>), <I>The Moonstone</I> is most entertaining whenever Sher is on screen, humming incessantly, prattling on about roses, and sharing scenes with such estimable supporting players as Patricia Hodge (<I>Betrayal</I>) and Peter Vaughan (<I>The Remains of the Day</I>). <I>--Tom Keogh</I>
Description
Greg Wise (Sense and Sensibility) and Keeley Hawes (Karaoke) star in this sumptuous adaptation of Wilkie Collins' classic mystery, the first detective novel ever written. <P>The Moonstone, a sacred Hindu diamond was stolen from the head of the Moon God, in its shrine by John Herncastle in 1799. The stone is said to be cursed if it is removed from the shrine. <P>In 1846, Herncastle visits his ister to wish his niece, Rachel, a happy birthday. His sister refuses to see him, and he vows that he will always remember his niece's birthday- a vow which later takes on sinister undertones. <P>Two years later, just before Rachel's birthday, a man named Franklin Blake announces to Rachel that the Moonstone has been bequeathed to her by Herncastle. Blake gives her the jewel on her birthday and offers to mount the jewel for her, in order that she might wear it. Inevitably, the jewel is found missing the next morning and Rachel believes Blake stole it. Determined to prove his innocence, Blake leaves in order to pursue the real truth behind the theft.
Customer Reviews:
A Who-Dunnit Detective Film........2007-04-06
Attractive lead actors perform an average script of a period murder-mystery.
Technically good in costumes, lighting, and attractive sets. If you like a light Whodunnit; you may like this. As good as anything on TV today. The detective is interesting, and his sleuthing has some interest. The story holds your attention; therefore, maybe 3-stars for some people (I rate 2-stars, if I do not keep it to watch again years later).
5-star Mystery DVD's are: "Road to Avonlea-Season 3", episode: "A Dark and Stormy Night", starring Christopher Reeve; or the modern, clever, murder-mystery series "Columbo", Seasons 1-7 (have not seen the other seasons).
This did not have what I was looking for, some adventure, more believability, more charm, and more cleverness.
The sets are attractively "staged"; rather than sets that take you there. Has pleasant characters; but not deep. Some good humor personality with the servants.
Brit lite.......2007-01-11
The "twist" was common enough at the time, but we tend to forget that our generation didn't discover all of the "vices." A nice period piece. I would have liked to have had some of the relationships better explained.
Excellent transaction.......2007-01-10
I have been looking for this book for years and here it is. Brilliant. Thank you so very much for a smooth, easy, straightforward transaction.
Wonderful Adaptation of a Wilkie Collins novel!.......2007-01-08
I am a big fan of Wilkie Collins this movie was just wonderful! I became totally engrossed and couldn't stop watching, even though I had already read the book. Wonderful acting and beautiful backgrounds. I highly recommend this movie.
A lot of trouble for nothing........2006-11-07
The characters in this book and production are its downfall. The young lady owner sees someone take her diamond. She has access to this person; it is someone she knows. Why not just ask this person to give the diamond back? Why not ask "Why did you take it?" Why condemn this person without giving him or her a chance to speak? This stupid girl (Rachel is her name) soured me on the whole book! This is not the way that people would really act in this situation. Collins asks readers to suspend disbelief too much. If Rachel had spoken up, she could have saved others, like Sargent Cuff a lot of trouble.

A lot of movies can be described as "dripping with atmosphere," but in the case of Silent Hill it's literally true. Faithfully adapted from the Konami video games by French director Christophe Gans and Pulp Fiction cowriter Roger Avary (both self-confessed video game addicts), this dark and grisly horror-fest is nothing if not a triumph of cinematography and production design, consisting of a minimal and mostly incoherent plot propped up by a mysterious maze of sets that literally seep, drip, and ooze with the atmospheric evil of past misdeeds. Welcome to the abandoned and perpetually foggy ghost town of Silent Hill, where grey ash falls like snow, a devastating coal-mine fire still burns in a hellish underground, and demons of various shapes and sizes make your worst nightmares seem like a walk in the park. It's here that distressed mother Rose (played by Pitch Black heroine Radha Mitchell) has taken her daughter Sharon (Jodelle Ferland) in hopes of discovering the source of Sharon's sleepwalking nightmares. What they find instead is a burned-out legacy of unspeakable evil, as Silent Hill's dark secrets are revealed. As opposing denizens of Silent Hill's meta-morphing underworld, Canadian actresses Alice Krige and Deborah Kara Unger seem to be the only ones who recognize this morbid mess as campy comedy; Gans (who established his visual flair with The Brotherhood of the Wolf) and Avary take it far too seriously, and the entire movie is utterly devoid of any emotional hooks or plot logic that would make us care about anything that happens. In crafting a loyal big-screen rendition of Silent Hill and its Playstation sequels, they've forgotten that movies play by a different and more demanding set of rules. As a result, they've made an impressive-looking but ultimately hollow horror film that only Silent Hill game-players can truly appreciate. --Jeff Shannon

Silent Bore.......2007-06-19
Saw 'Silent Hill'. Actually I wasn't gonna see it at all and wish that I hadn't. The trailer looked dull and uninteresting, but then everyone's been saying they want to see it cause it looks so good. Never believe all you hear.
Horror movies seem to think that having someone running around empty corridors with a panicked look on their face, rasped breaths, chilling? music and calling out for another person continuously, makes the movie frightening and edge-of-your-seat. News flash: it doesn't. Okay maybe it does for some audience members who are easily scared.
For hours this mother just runs around a bunch of corridors in the ash-ridden buildings of Silent Hill screaming for her daughter. And then these Golum from 'Lord Of The Rings' lookalikes try to kidnap her, then cockroachy beetle things crawl all over everyone, and somehow she escapes from every single obstacle which comes her way.
The ending with the burning of the so called 'heretic' was about the only time when the movie really took flight in action and fear factor. Everything else was filler.
"Mothers are God in the eyes of children" - Laaaaame. Are we supposed to faint with how sweet this sentence is or something? Please.
This is a video game?.......2007-06-18
The film is like House of Wax; Nice set but the only real thing that stuck out from this so called "horror" film. It is a good mystery movie but its just too long. Alot of the movie could have been trimmed down. The ending looked like the guy stole it from Hellraiser. The video game for this must be a very boring video game.
I liked it.......2007-06-14
Has the same problems as all video-game based movies, it has a lot of hype to live up to, and it's target audience is small. But overall I thought it was pretty well done.
Cool movie! Similar to the game.......2007-06-01
The movie captures the feel of the game, although it doesn't follow it lock-step. I thought the first 3/4 was awesome, but the finish is kinda weak. Still a must see--especially if you were a fan of the game. The first time when she's walking down the stairs.. and the horn goes off and everything goes dark.. wicked scene. The "dark world" scenes are awesome.
Highly recommended.
You have to love the game..before the movie !.......2007-05-13
Well for starters, you have to love the game first before you even like this movie and before you even begin to watch it to understand it all. If you haven't, more than likely, you will not like this movie. I have yet, not met one person who hasn't played the Playstaion game yet and not like the movie. To me, this is one of the best Playstation games turn to movies by far, it has played right down to the music and the darkness of the game it self all the way to its disturbing creepiness.
The only down side is that yes, the movie is a tad too dark and sometimes makes it hard to see the "monsters" and what not, however, thats how the game is played and wasn't really that big of a deal for me. But, the story was decent, the acting was so-so and not a lot of gore within the movie as you would see in the game, but, still not a huge deal. Anyways, if you are a fan of the game, you will truly like the movie. Recommended !

Despite a limited TV budget and a tight 20-day shooting schedule, ESPN's <I>3</I> pays honorable tribute to NASCAR's greatest hero. Barry Pepper (the ace marksman in <I>Saving Private Ryan</I>) is perfectly cast as Dale Earnhardt, who rose from humble beginnings as a cotton-mill worker to legendary status as "the Intimidator," whose aggressive racing style was frequently controversial. While basing its drama on Earnhardt's relationship with his stern father Ralph (himself a fearless dirt-track champion), Robert Eisele's teleplay struggles with trackside clichés while functioning as both intimate portrait and highlight reel of pivotal races from Earnhardt's career. As directed by Russell Mulcahy (<I>Highlander</I>), the film succeeds as a blue-collar drama about a man driven by destiny--and ominous fate--who embodied the best (and sometimes the worst) of NASCAR culture, popularizing the sport like no driver before or since. All of the essential bases are covered, and the superb supporting cast includes Elizabeth Mitchell as Earnhardt's third wife, Teresa, J.K. Simmons (J. Jonah Jameson from the <I>Spider-Man</I> films) as Ralph Earnhardt, and newcomer Marshall McGee as Dale Earnhardt Jr. Titled after Earnhardt's black #3 Goodwrench Chevy, <I>3</I> is a conventional TV biopic, but it's essential viewing for those who loved--or even hated--the man who died too young, at age 49, on the final lap at Daytona in 2001.
Bonus features in this two-disc set are abundant and excellent, including an in-depth "making of" featurette, a definitive ESPN documentary on Earnhardt's life and career (featuring a virtual who's-who of NASCAR superstars), a generous archive of Earnhardt interviews, and extensive highlights from four historic races, including Earnhardt's controversial contact with Terry Labonte to win the 1999 Bush 500 at Bristol, and the Earnhardts' (Sr. and Jr.) 1st- and 2nd-place wins at IROC round 3 that same year. All in all, this is DVD heaven for NASCAR fans. <I>--Jeff Shannon</I>
Product Description
Biographical story of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. starts with his young life and growing up with his father, Ralph, who raced for a living, but initially wanted more for his son. When Dale quits high school to start driving full time, his father aids him and shows a reluctant pride when he is initially successful. Armed with many of his father's philosophies, Dale pushed himself to be the best. His aggressive track mannerisms earned himself fans and detractors. Fellow racer Neil Bonnett was one of those long time friends and whose death deeply affected Dale. Darrell Waltrip clearly was a detractor and the two men's rivalry is clearly depicted. Off the track, Dale's determination to make it impacts two marriages. Third wife Theresa was closer to racing and met Dale when he had started his rise into the Winston Cup circuit. The story also looks at his relationship with his children, particularly son Kerry from his first marriage and whom he did not see again after age 5 until Kerry in his late teens showed up to meet his father again. Similar to his own father, Dale drove Dale Jr. to be the best, including temporarily sending him to military school when his grades slipped, but like his father, Dale Jr. only wanted to race. Contains mild profanity.

My Review.......2007-03-08
wow, this movie is truly amazing- it follows Dale Earnhardt Sr from childhood untill death. When the DVD arrived it was in EXCELLENT condition! I would recomend Amazon to anyone that asks me about them.
A Nice Surprise.......2007-01-18
I was ready to be disappointed ~ I couldn't imagine anyone pulling off Dale Earnhardt ~ But Barry Pepper did (and that is coming from a Die-Hard Earnhardt fan!) I didn't learn anything new about Dale but was entertained by a great story and some very good acting. The Movie alone was worth the purchase price but the Bonus Features are so amazing I was floored! They don't just show some clips here and there ~ there is lap after lap racing footage that could be an entire DVD itself. This would be a great gift for any racing enthusiast!
great movie/ highway robbery price.......2006-08-01
I liked the movie but the price they are wanting for this is crazy. Everywhere else wants 20 and under for this and they want 30 somthing for it crazy. Some places are selling it for 13 brand new
if espn would've waited for theresa to give them input .......2006-07-31
if only espn waited they probably would've gotten more info from theresa they probably would'nt wait till she was ready.
3 is number 9.......2005-12-22
I put this film at #9 of the greatest films of all time, just ahead of Breakin at #10. Here are some of the films that missed my list:
Citizen Kane
Forrest Gump
Eight Men Out
Animal House
My Mommy is having a baby
Gone with the Wind
Better off Dead
The folks at ESPN were given the second most impossible task ever, make a movie about E. The toughest task will be to make a movie about me after I die, where would you even start casting? Back to E. He is a really a neat guy. This movie portrays him as the cuddly prankster we all got to know and love when he was driving in circles Sunday after Sunday. Is there anything in the world of sports more engrossing than guys driving in a circle for 4 hours? Only the tour de france can compare in terms of sheer excitement. In this movie, Barry "Dr." Pepper plays the god of automobiles, Tim Dayer(I think that's what people down here called him). He grows up in a backass town where no one has any hope of benefitting society in any way shape or form. His dad runs cars in circles and Timdayer thinks it looks like a lot of fun. He ends up doing the same thing and being better at it than his dad. He makes a lot of friends along the way because he's a good racer. Sometimes he makes other drivers mad because he passes them and wins (that is the object of this sport). I made a lot of other kids mad on the BMX circuit in Gretna with my style, but as Timdayer said, Rubbin your facin. In the end, E runs into a wall and dies.
Now onto the movie about me. Where do you start? I personally think it would have to be a North and South type 10 hour mini series. You'd have to have my life broken up into five year periods or you'd run the risk of leaving out something that changed the world. You'd also open the network to countless complaints that my life wasn't covered properly. Some of the great scenes would be:
1. Sparrow flies into my forehead and dies
2. The great pickup on dodge(Natalie Portman would play the girl)
3. Me dropping 43 against Rhombus
4. Me winning at a lot of things (montage with "you're the best around" music).
E is solid family fun until he dies at the end.
