Marvel Comics' first family of superherodom, the Fantastic Four, hits the big screen in a light-hearted and funny adventure. It begins when down-on-his-luck genius Reed Richards (Ioan Gruffudd, <I>Horatio Hornblower</I>) has to enlist the financial and intellectual help from former schoolmate and rival Victor Von Doom (Julian McMahon, <I>Nip/Tuck</I>) in order to pursue outer-space research into human DNA. Also on the trip are Reed's best friend, Ben Grimm (Michael Chiklis, <I>The Shield</I>); his former lover, Sue Storm (Jessica Alba, <I>Dark Angel</I>, <I>Sin City</I>), who's now Doom's employee and love interest; and her hotshot-pilot brother, Johnny Storm (Chris Evans, <I>Cellular</I>). Things don't go as planned, of course, and the quartet becomes blessed--or is it cursed?--with superhuman powers: flexibility, brute strength, invisibility and projecting force fields, and bursting into flame. Meanwhile, Doom himself is undergoing a transformation.
Among the many entries in the comic-book-movie frenzy, <I>Fantastic Four</I> is refreshing because it doesn't take itself too seriously. Characterization isn't too deep, and the action is a bit sparse until the final reel (like most "first" superhero movies, it has to go through the "how did we get these powers and what we will do with them" churn). But it's a good-looking cast, and original comic-book cocreator Stan Lee makes his most significant Marvel-movie cameo yet, in a speaking role as the FF's steadfast postal carrier, Willie Lumpkin. Newcomers to superhero movies might find the idea of a family with flexibility, strength, invisibility, and force fields a retread of <I>The Incredibles</I>, but Pixar's animated film was very much a tribute to the FF and other heroes of the last 40 years. The irony is that while <I>Fantastic Four</I> is an enjoyable B-grade movie, it's the tribute, <I>The Incredibles</I>, that turned out to be a film for the ages. <I>--David Horiuchi</! I>

Some good scenes but I can't recommend it.......2007-06-22
Long story short, I liked Fantastic Four. It had it's faults, mainly it's portrayal of Dr. Doom, but it was fun. I was disappointed in the extended cut though. Most of the added scenes were OK. More character development, more story, a reference to the Puppet Master and that Herbie robot, but in the end, it felt as though they just Frankensteined this thing together from leftover parts. The scenes with Reed and Sue in the planetarium then again on the bridge being the exact same scene was the worst offender. And the part where Alicia gives Thing a spongebath just felt wrong on so many levels. There were a couple of interesting documentaries and the original version is thoughtfully included on this disc so for those who haven't bought it yet. All in all, worth watching just to see what could've been but it's no improvement over the original.
Almost Better Than Breathing!.......2007-06-21
This movie is like a rocketship that you get on, and then you ride into space and the turbulence doesn't even effect you at all, and it's a very smooth landing either on whatever planet the rocketship lands or on its eventual re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere. Fantastic Four rules the school!
If you've ever seen other comic book movies like Batman or Spiderman or Darkman or Superman or X-Man, you know that they are usually not very good. But the Fantastic Four are absolutely excellent and every superhero movie should take notes on how great this movie really is.
Fantastic Four is about four friends who have wonderful magical powers. One guy is super-limber, and another guy can turn into fire, and another guy is really really strong, and there is a girl who can become invisible if she wants to. Never before and never again have so many different and exciting superpowers been on display, and you will jump out of your chair cheering every time they get to defeat bad guys (which is often). You may not even want to sit down because you'll be out of your chair that much. However, if you want to get good exercise, then you will sit down from time to time, because then it will be very good for your quads.
The special effects are thrilling, the actors are dynamic, and the story is just like a rocketship.
I hope you stop reading this review right now and go rent this movie immediately. And if you are still reading this sentence, why don't you go re-read the last sentence and ask yourself why you're so disobedient?
Be careful: the stretchy man and the fire man may come and get you!!! Just kidding.
Do yourself and your community a favor and buy many copies of this movie.
Fantastic Movie.......2007-06-20
My Opinion: The Fantastic Four is an awesome movie. One of the best superhero groups/Family ever created. Stan Lee out did himself on this group of famous superheroes. The Fantastic Four Rocks.
About The Film: When a group of scentist go up in space to do research on plantary life that could help the human race they get hit by a cosmic storm that changes thier lives forever and turns them into the most famous group of superheroes known to man and they are the Fantastic four, singlely known as Mr. Fantastic, The Invisible Woman, The Thing & The Human Torch.. director Tim Story brings these fabulous begins to life in this awesome movie and the most evil of all villians Dr.Doom. and the Fantastic four are out to stop Dr. dooms most evil plan, Destroying Them.
If you liked this movie then check out, Fantastic Four The Soumdtrack, Fantastic Four The Soundtrack score, Fantastic Four Novel, Fantatsic Four Video game and Fantastic Four 2: Rise of the silver surfer now in theaters. and all other Fantastic Four stuff.
Waste of Money & TERRIBLE Editing!!!.......2007-06-18
Okay - 1st, there are a few scenes in here (character driven) that are good additions (even though they do slow down the pace of the movie)... but that's the only good thing I have to say about this Ext. Cut.
The Editing though, was completely & totally terrible... in a new scene (when Sue finds Reed asleep at the desk) -- we find them revisiting their 1st date in a planetarium... where they end up kissing. Very nice... but the same dialogue was used in that scene... as the VERY NEXT SCENE (shot at the bridge / water) where she's telling him she wanted him to take charge, etc. Completely redundant... the same words, same exact delivery, etc. etc. --- spoken TWICE --- in back to back "scenes".
WORSE -- is the only reason they kept the "bridge / water" scene in there -- was for the "face transformation" Reed does when saying "I thought you wanted a Stronger Man" (referring of course to Victor Von Doom) ------ what makes this scene WORSE (aside from the redundant lines) -- is they took out where he makes his Chin "Squared" --- which he did in the Theatrical Cut do MOCK VICTOR VON DOOM!!! --- NOW -- He turns into a HORRIBLE rendering of WOLVERINE!!!! AS IF THEY EVEN KNOW WHO WOLVERINE IS!!! WHAT THE HECK ARE THESE PEOPLE THNKING!!!???
I mean - okay - poke fun at Wolverine -- he's a tuff "Stronger Man"... but has NO Bearing on the story line... and as I said --- X-MEN DO NOT EXIST TO THEM!! THEY'RE UNIQUE IN THEIR "POWERS" & THERE ARE NO MUTANTS (at this point) in the Fantastic Four "universe".
Those 2 things right there -- make this Version completely unwatchable. The added "scenes" aren't worth having to sit through that for! They should've edited some of the dialogue out of the Planetarium scene -- if they wanted to keep the Bridge/Water scene (simply for the face-change) -- but should've left it alone --- as him Mocking VICTOR (Julian McMahon) for his Chisled Chin look!
What makes this an even bigger disaster -- is the "Free Ticket" to the new F4 movie (Rise of the Silver Surfer)... is ONLY GOOD @ "HOLLYWOOD THEATERS". Sorry -- but "HOLLYWOOD" Theaters aren't a MAJOR Chain... No Where NEAR the amount that Cinemark & Others are.... and there isn't a "Hollywood" Theater anywhere near me. In fact, in order to get to one... I'd have had to drive about an hour! On top of that... EVERY "Hollywood" Theater I've EVER been in -- were OLD & CRUMMY... with SMALL screens & SMALL theaters! What Brain-Dead Goofball decided HOLLYWOOD should get the Bid on the free passes!?!?!
SAVE YOUR MONEY __ KEEP THE ORIGINAL RELEASE --- I'm certainly keeping my Original release... and will be selling this garbage as quickly as possible! (as for the rest of the "extended" parts of the movie --- total additional run-time is only about 15 minutes or so... and most of the special features are on the Original release as well... the good ones anyway!)
Great Revised Version of the Hit Action/Sci-Fi Film!.......2007-06-14
Warning- SPOILERS contained--
Fantastic Four: in the summer of 2005, Marvel Comics "first family" superhero team hit the silver screen, and despite mixed reviews (leaning toward the negative) it had a sizably profitable run at the box-office. Just before its 2007 sequel, "Rise of the Silver Surfer" hits theaters, Fox Home Video has released a two-disc Extended Edition of the first film. With a running time of approximately 110 minutes, previously excised footage has been spliced into the previous cut, effectively expanding the narrative.
The film focuses on four astronaut protagonists: brilliant (but absent-minded) physicist Reed Richards (Ioan Gruffudd); the beautiful (and also brilliant) Susan Storm (Jessica Alba); Reed's former college roommate and Air Force pilot Ben Grimm (Michael Chiklis); and Susan's younger, sarcastic pilot brother Johnny (Chris Evans). As the movie opens, Richards has a proposition for an outer-space-based research project (something involving cosmic radiation's effect on living tissue), but so far all his pitches have been turned down. His only remaining prospect is with Von Doom Industries, run by his former college rival, Victor Von Doom (who, aside from being a business magnate is something of a physicist himself). Von Doom has a rep for being ethically dubious, but Reed's colleagues convince him it's worth a try. Surprisingly, Victor accepts Reed's proposal--but only if he gets to go along for the space trip, and his company gets the patents for whatever useful gets discovered.
In true comic book fashion, as the experiment begins to take place, something goes terribly wrong. A literal storm of cosmic radiation comes bearing down on the quintet, and though in the aftermath, nothing seems to be wrong with them at first, fans of the comics will know that a metamorphosis is about to take place. After setting down on terra firma, each member of the group begins to change in seemingly random ways: the brainy Reed is now enabled to stretch and bend his body like rubber (Mr. Fantastic); the impulsive Johnny can set his body on fire with no ill-effect (the Human Torch); shy Susan turns invisible when she gets frustrated (Invisible Woman); burly Ben finds himself changed into a man of stone (the Thing).
For his part, the calculating Victor finds his body slowly being infected with a `techno-organic' virus, effectively changing him to a cyborg, with energy-manipulating powers. While all parties are duly alarmed at this change of fortune, Reed reluctantly galvanizes his quartet as celebrity superheroes; but Victor broods and casually commits murder in the name of finding a cure for his condition. This sets in motion a series of events leading to the climax, in which Reed creates a device that can cure the morose Ben of his powers, but Doom sets his sights on using it to basically destroy the team.
Pros:
The actors all bear a good resemblance to their comic book counterparts, with the possible exception of Chiklis' Thing, who in the comics has oversized proportions comparable to the Incredible Hulk. Here the Thing is much more human-sized, though the film does an impressive job with the makeup to simulate his rocky exterior. The powers of all the characters are handled well with respect to their four-color origins (Mr. Fantastic can squeeze under doors; the Torch can fly; Invisible Woman can create force-fields; the Thing can uproot street lamps with ease). The bickering-family interaction featured in the comics gets to be seen often as well. The comic strip's co-creator Stan Lee cameos as a letter carrier. The extended cut provides welcome character moments involving all of the primary characters; they include a dinner date with Susan and Victor, Ben having a night on the town with Alicia, and Johnny flaming out while showing off at a nightclub.
Cons:
The film is essentially an extended origin story. Arguably the biggest plot hurdle to overcome in super-hero films, some of the genre have used abbreviated origins or simply bypassed them entirely, with varying results. Here, the full origin tale barely works, if only because of the engaging actors, the capable special effects and stunt sequences. McMahon as Dr. Doom is suitably creepy, but his motivations as a villain are given the short-shrift (comics purists reviled the updated origin, though in fairness it hewed close to the strip's sister publication Ultimate Fantastic Four). The Internet-heavy complaints about the casting of African-American Kerry Washington in a bit role as the Thing's future girlfriend (and to an extent the multiethnic Alba's casting as WASP-ish Susan) can be chalked up to racial nitpicking.
Extras
The three main documentaries are about the making of the film, about the history of the comic book, and about the career of Jack Kirby are very good additions. Each of them is substantial in length. The movie documentary interviews each core cast member as well as select members of the production crew, giving excellent insight on how the film was made. The comic book documentary offers a decade-by-decade examination of the history of the Fantastic Four comics, interviewing various artists, writers and editors who worked on the series over the years. It suffers from no interview footage of the late Jack Kirby--and strangely, there are no interviews with 1980's writer/artist John Byrne, whose work is only acknowledged with a dialogue-less montage. Similarly, the Kirby bio has no archival interviews with `the King'. The extras also include still photos and production drawings.

The second and last season of <I>Dark Angel</I>, the inventive James Cameron show about mutants during a future Depression, has some real strengths as well as one or two bad ideas that partly explain its much-regretted cancellation. Among the strengths are Alex (Jensen Ackles), the thoroughly unreliable mutant charmer whose flirtations with heroine Max (Jessica Alba) complicate her doomed love for Logan (Michael Weatherly), the crippled newshound whom she cannot now even touch--she has been infected with a deadly virus tailored specifically to kill him. The distrust this sows between the doomed couple does not always avoid soap-opera clichés, but often produces fine performances from all three, especially Alba.
On the deficit side, John Savage's memorably ambiguous villain Lydeker from season 1 (who is alternately the mutants' nemesis and their protector) disappears to be replaced by the melodramatically sinister Agent White (Martin Cummins). White appears to be just a shoot-to-kill operative of the state and turns out to be another sort of superhuman, a product of an occultist breeding program going back to the dawn of history. After White's first ruthless killing, Max's reluctance to use deadly force is tested to near-implausible limits. The show ends with a rousing and moving finale, "Freak Nation", in which a theme often neglected in this final year--Max's relationship with her fellow couriers at Jam Pony--reaches a powerful climax. <I>--Roz Kaveney</I>

Dark Season.......2007-06-07
Unlike the first season of this series, the second one didn't have me hanging on every word the characters said.
The second season lost many of the appealing plots the first one had, and the relationship among the characters grew simpler and simpler.
But even not being as good as the first season, the second season of Dark Angel is worth seeing. Too bad they didn't do a third one.
Dark Angel Season 2.......2007-05-30
I loved this series and was sad when it ended. Season 2 held some wonderful additions such as Joshua (Kevin Durand) and Alex (Jensen Ackles). One of the highlights for me was "Hello, Goodbye" with the wonderful Mike Mitchell as Mule ... he totally broke my heart.
I'm thrilled that this series is on DVD and will enjoy it for years to come.
Best show ever!!!!.......2007-03-24
Dark angel was an excellent show that should of been picked up for a third season. there were so many questions that went unanswered. The second season to me wasnt as good as tyhe first because they rushed through it so fast. Despite that the series as a whole was excellent
It could still happen..........2007-03-08
It sort of a how to manual if the planet backs up on itself. It is all about a group of individuals committing to rescue other members of humanity. It is different and funny.
Why not a third season!?.......2007-02-17
Very good show, too bad it ends like this... there is material for a third season!

Great Picture Quality and Sound Makes a Good Movie Even Better!.......2007-06-12
I'm not going to remark on my opinion of the story, actors or direction of the film because you can read that kind of stuff on a movie review site.
What I will tell you is that the Blu-ray version rocks! The picture is great - so clear you feel like you are right there and the sound is clean, defined, and will shake the foundation of your house on the exciting parts if you crank it up.
Don't even bother with the DVD version, you'll feel like your watching the flick with blur goggles on. Go with Blu-ray and experience the movie the way it was meant to be seen!
Good movie.........2007-05-07
I'll be the first to admit. Fantastic Four has found a way into my "guilty pleasure" movies. I hear people go on and on about how it wasn't so great, that it was bad, etc. I, however, enjoyed it immensely.
I'm not going to review the movie itself...since it would be like beating a dead horse. What I will speak about is the picture quality of this BD.
The transfer is done by using a MPG2 codec. Unfortunately, while the codec can produce an excellent high def transfer, it requires a lot of disk space; for this transfer, a 25GB BD disk was used, which is not enough for the better MPG2 transfers. With that said, however, the quality is not bad at all. I wouldn't put it up there with the best, but it's definetly a big jump from regular DVD, and your eyes will be pleased.
Great fun.......2007-04-05
Fantastic four actually delivers what it promises- a film which is based on a comic book. So if you put aside the negative reviews and watch it in a light and "popcorn" mood you will actually enjoy it.
The film is about a team that goes into space to study a unique phenomenon which, in turn, alters their dna and they get special powers. And the Fantastic Four are born. Jessica Alba is gorgeous but Flame and Thing/Rock really spice the film up.
The film is not really true to the comic book but it does not really matter as it is entertaining provided that you watch it in a relaxed mood. There are some flows and the romance outcome is predictable but you will enjoy it.Moreover it sets it self up for more sequels and hopefully they will be as good.
The blu-ray version is excellent and the special effects come out in a stunning form. The picture is as sharp as it can be and makes the film even more enjoyable.
A good fun flick with shallow story.......2007-01-19
I know you have probably hear that this is a really bad movie. It is no spiderman but it has a couple of good qualities. It is a fun action movie. The stroy is shallow yet it never reeally get boring. I would say if you like the Fantastic Four then you will like (not love) this movie. Hope the sequel is better.
OVERPRICED ?.......2006-11-16
I'm really excited that FOX is finally releasing some of it's catalog titles on Blu-Ray. But these titles are exactly that catalog titles, that are priced higher than most studios day and date releases. The picture and sound quality are on par with Sony / Warner Bros. / Paramount / Disney, not any better or worse. The "extras" are sorely missing. I'm really getting tired of certain studios setting up for the "double dip" by not including the basic extras from their dvd couterparts. Yes, I did purchase this movie, but I feel cheated having to pay this much to enjoy the Fantastic Four in Hi-def, when M:I:3 looks a lot better, is packed with features, and costs less. Come on Sony, Fox, & Disney step up your Hi-def game.

Brutal and breathtaking, Sin City is Robert Rodriguez's stunningly realized vision of Frank Miller's pulpy comic books. In the first of three separate but loosely related stories, Marv (Mickey Rourke in heavy makeup) tries to track down the killers of a woman who ended up dead in his bed. In the second story, Dwight's (Clive Owen) attempt to defend a woman from a brutal abuser goes horribly wrong, and threatens to destroy the uneasy truce among the police, the mob, and the women of Old Town. Finally, an aging cop on his last day on the job (Bruce Willis) rescues a young girl from a kidnapper, but is himself thrown in jail. Years later, he has a chance to save her again.

<span class="tiny">Read our interview with Frank Miller. </span> </td></tr> </table> Based on three of Miller's immensely popular and immensely gritty books (The Hard Goodbye, The Big Fat Kill, and That Yellow Bastard), Sin City is unquestionably the most faithful comic-book-based movie ever made. Each shot looks like a panel from its source material, and director Rodriguez (who refers to it as a "translation" rather than an adaptation) resigned from the Directors Guild so that Miller could share a directing credit. Like the books, it's almost entirely in stark black and white with some occasional bursts of color (a woman's red lips, a villain's yellow face). The backgrounds are entirely digitally generated, yet not self-consciously so, and perfectly capture Miller's gritty cityscape. And though most of Miller's copious nudity is absent, the violence is unrelentingly present. That may be the biggest obstacle to viewers who aren't already fans of the books and who may have been turned off by Kill Bill (whose director, Quentin Tarantino, helmed one scene of Sin City). In addition, it's a bleak, desperate world in which the heroes are killers, corruption rules, and the women are almost all prostitutes or strippers. But Miller's stories are riveting, and the huge cast--which also includes Jessica Alba, Jaime King, Brittany Murphy, Rosario Dawson, Benicio Del Toro, Elijah Wood, Nick Stahl, Michael Clarke Duncan, Devin Aoki, Carla Gugino, and Josh Hartnett--is just about perfect. (Only Bruce Willis and Michael Madsen, while very well-suited to their roles, seem hard to separate from their established screen personas.) In what Rodriguez hopes is the first of a series, Sin City is a spectacular achievement. --David Horiuchi</p>

Description
An amazing cast of big-screen favorites is directed by Robert Rodriguez (DESPERADO, FROM DUSK TILL DAWN), Frank Miller -- and special guest director Quentin Tarantino (KILL BILL 1 and 2, PULP FICTION) -- in an acclaimed and visually stunning hit that's the coolest movie of the year! Straight from the pages of Miller's hip series of "Sin City" graphic novels, Bruce Willis stars as a cop with a bum ticker and a vow to protect a sexy stripper (Jessica Alba -- FANTASTIC FOUR); Mickey Rourke (MAN ON FIRE) as an outcast misanthrope on a mission to avenge the death of his one true love (Jaime King -- PEARL HARBOR); and Clive Owen (KING ARTHUR) as Dwight, the clandestine love of Shellie (Brittany Murphy -- LITTLE BLACK BOOK), who spends his night defending Gail (Rosario Dawson -- THE DEVIL'S REJECTS) and her Old Town girls (Devon Aoki and Alexis Bledel) from a tough guy (Benicio Del Toro -- 21 GRAMS) with a penchant for violence. Also starring Elijah Wood, Nick Stahl, Michael Madsen, Carla Gugino, and Michael Clarke Duncan.

Soooo Freakin Good.......2007-06-19
So, you watch movies to be entertained and that's what you get with this movie. You never want to stop watching AND then you want to watch it again. There is a lot of gore but, it's kind of abstracted by the comic book setting but overall it's a pretty rough movie. Still, it was good enough we are planning to watch it again.
A nice DVD package........2007-05-30
This is a nice package for a film such as this. My only wish, is that it would contain more interviews with Frank Miller and how he brought Sin City to life as a comic book. But other than that, there's a nice selection of interesting features on how they made this fantastic film. Plus, this DVD contains a complete copy of The Hard Goodbye, which is one of the original graphic novels. It's fun DVD to have. I hope you like it!
Frank Miller Fan.......2007-05-26
This is an amazing two-disc release. Director Robert Rodriguez brilliantly brings to life Frank Miller's graphic novels, and does not hold back with the development of these gritty characters. Mickey Rourke alone deserves 5 stars for his portrayal of Marv. This set is worth having strictly on the merits of the development of that character. For anyone who has a love for the making of films and the time consuming processes involved in the "behind the scenes", the bonus disc will satisfy your appreciation for the multifaceted areas of story telling. Let's hope that when Frank Miller's "300" is released to DVD, that the extras will be just as enjoyable.
a 12 year olds review.......2007-05-26

it`s sick yet I can`t look away.......2007-05-26
I have to give this movie five stars It is mezmerizing. I used to read a lot of comic book and graphic novels and even though I never read the Sin City novels I still read some of the dark black and white Manga. This whole movie looks and feels like a dark gothic comic book. I give it one star for the great story line another star for it`s cast, another star for the way it`s is filmed (black and white with accents of color )very cool, another star dark for the and creepy musical score and the 5th star well....I think I will just give that to Nancy .God bless you little girl.

Very good movie.......2007-06-11
I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. I got it used through [...]. Some comic turned movies, or cartoon turned movies are not that great. This is well worth the money. Plus, it has Jessica Alba in it!
Fantastic Four.......2007-05-14
A must for everyone who loves superhero movies, especially those based on Marvel Comics characters. This was the original "first family" of superheroes created by Stan Lee. They are brought to the screen by accurately lifting them from the pages of the ocmics with their diverse personalities and petty bickering. Whether you saw it at the theater or not, this is a DVD to own, especially with the sequel only a month away.
Very good movie........2007-05-13
Purchased this DVD because my grandchildren wanted to see it. Well worth the price.
AWESOME!.......2007-05-07
This movie is one of those that you can watch over and over again just because it's so good!! There's action, love, despair, comedy....all the qualities of an awesome movie! They did a very good job making it entertaining, while also keeping it clean so that kids could see it too. DEFINITELY A MUST SEE MOVIE!
Dr Doom, Mr. Fantastic, the thing, the human torch, and the invisible girl.......2007-04-17
Before the Incredibles there was the Fantastic Four.
Dr. Doom and the Green Goblin share many common characteristics:
1. Both were billionares 2. Both were put in financial ruin by the board and its bank members 3. Both became insatibly enticed by power, revenge, and hatred of the good guys. 4. Both possessed increased strength, put on a mask and kill.
The Thing and the Hulk share many common characteristics: 1. They both weight nearly a ton 2. They possess emmense strength 3. They have a handicap girl friend 4. They exhibit limited intelligence 5. and they are fear by the people. The Thing can smash a semi truck. The Hulk can smash a tank. The Thing can lift a fire truck. The hulk can jump for over a mile. The Thing can not return to human form, but the Hulk can once his rage deminishes.
Mr. Fanatastic and spiderman seem similar: 1. They are both scientist 2. They are ackward in love, but their girlfriends still love them even after severe disappointment. 3. They both fight evil with great heroism 4. They use a clever but intelligent trick to defeat their enemies. 5. Spidie invents things and Reed is an MIT genius inventor and owner of numerous patents. Spidie protects humanity and Mr. Fanatastic cosmic radiation experiment was designed to remove disease from humanity. Spidie loves and protects Mary Jane, Mr Fanatasic loves and is rescued by the Invisible girl.
Human Torch and Tom Cruise are look alikes. 1. They have famboyant and womanizing attitudes 2. They love celebrity life 3. They like to smile 4. They seem bigger than life 5. They protray a boyish charm on the big screen. 6. Its clobbering Time toy, motorcyle jumps, and snow boarding, hot tub on the mountain, characterize the Torch. 7. Seduces his nurse to join him on the mountain for skiing where she tells him "last one down pays for the room." Moral debauchery soften by humour and high risk adventure.
College girl innocence, seduction, and nudity: 1. Convinces Mr Fanastic to take charge and marry her: To act without thinking, to respond to attraction/beauty/pleasure and marry Sue. What gave Mr. Fanastic the courage to over come his disbelief in love? Mr. Fanastic learns that science does not alway lead to what he wants. Instead, Reed learns to believe in love and use science to help humanity. Reed learns too love Sue more than science. Dr. Doom's competition for Sue may have helped Reed too realize he valued Sue and wanted her. 2. Sue protrays herself as innocence, temperous, and a whitty school girl in style 3. Sue is often the voice of passion and the voice of reason and the voice of compassion for the team 4. Nudity: Two characters partially nude and the suggestion of full nudity: The torch burns off his cloths and walks around with a blanket around his midsection. The invisible girl strips herself of clothes, twice. I'm disappointed in the directors choice to put so much sexual inneundo into the movie.
Mr. Fanastic and Invisible girl, even their names suggested the struggle to see each other and build a relationship. Reed is married to his work, sterlized by his devotion to science; Reed finds any commitment to family or relationships a distraction from his work and withdraws; Sue tells Reed, "You never got it and you never will. Do I need to explain it through a quantum physic equation?"; Reed blames Sue for walking out; Sue blames Reed for the resulting fustration where she waited patiently for Reed too build his business; Reed fails at his business and fails with Sue's love never paying attention, time, or devotion, too her. Sue says about Victor, "It is nice to be recognized and have a man who know what he wants", too Reed. Reed believes he needs time to think out all the possiblilities. Reed believes he must focus on his survival; Reed is engrossed in his projects and a company on the verge of bankruptcy. Reed seems doomed to be a batchelor.
In the mean time, Victor has proposed to Sue, Victor wants to take Sue away from Reed, and Sue gives Reed a second chance. Victor and Reed start their faternal competition for Sue; Sue becomes the prize; Reed wins. Reed realizes he can have science and Sue at the same time, fantastic! Fame has given Reed recognition, self-actualization, and confidence to save the team by building a machine to reverse the cosmic ray affects. Reed is at the top and he wants more, so he pursues a relationship with Sue, transforming her from the invisible girl to his wife.
Teamwork:
The invisible girl by herself can not defeat Dr. Doom, who seeks revenge blaming Reed for the failure of his business and the lose of his fiance. Reed in his weaken condition can not defeat Dr. Doom and after being super heated melts down like warm cheese. The thing is put out of commission by Dr. Doom after returning to normal. The torch is momentarily delayed after the blast of a heat seeking missiles extinquishs his flame and puts him far out in the ocean. Dr. Doom fears the thing the most, probably a mental position of Ben being Reeds protector. The group discovers they must fight together to destroy Dr. Doom and save the world.
Mr. Fanastic wraps Doom up preventing him from shooting out electrical bolts of electricity, rubber is non conductive; the Thing pulls Mr. Fantasic free and gives invisible girl the opportunity to contain the human torch and Dr. Doom inside a force field bubble; the human torch ignites too 4,000 Kelvin, the temperature of the sun and goes super nova - super heating Dr. Doom ; the Thing aims water from a water hydrate at Dr. Doom and Doom soldifies, tempered and refined metal, too perfect and too strong for movement. High Four to the team.

The two-disc edition of Sin City easily makes the earlier single-disc theatrical-cut release obsolete by including the regular theatrical cut on the first disc, recutting the movie into four extended segments on the second disc (separated by story line), then piling on an impressive load of bonus features. But there's a catch. Billed as "Recut, Extended, Unrated," with "over 20 minutes" of new footage, the new set's four separate stories are extended by only about 6.5 total minutes of movie action (see details below in "What's New"); the rest of the added running time is the splashy new title shots (named by the title of the story or book) and the four minutes of credits that run at the end of each segment. Each addition makes the movie even closer to the comic books, and these extended segments are generally preferable to the theatrical equivalents (unfortunately, there's no Play All option), but don't expect the same impact as Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings extended editions. And although this version is unrated, the only risqué addition is a bit of violence from Miho that's no worse than the rest of the crazy violence in the film.
<b>How Are the Bonus Features?</b>
Robert Rodriguez has always loved DVDs, so the bonus features are extensive. On the first disc, there is somehow room for the theatrical cut of the film with its DTS track (the extended versions have only Dolby 5.1), two commentary tracks, an alternate audio track with a live audience in Austin, Texas, an interactive map of characters and locations, and 47 minutes of featurettes covering Frank Miller, Quentin Tarantino, cars, costumes, props, and special effects. The first commentary is Rodriguez and Miller discussing the concepts and the cast. The second commentary is mostly by Rodriguez, but Tarantino drops in briefly for the scene he directed (with Clive Owen and Benicio Del Toro in the car), as does an enthusiastic Bruce Willis for his segment.
The Tarantino scene gets a lot of attention on the second disc as well, in a 14-minute take in which he can be heard coaching the actors. Also on the disc are Rodriguez's usual "flic school" (among the topics is how scenes were created by merging footage of actors who never actually met), footage of Bruce Willis's band performing in Austin at the time of the shooting, and another Rodriguez cooking school (this time it's breakfast tacos). But the most interesting feature is the "green screen version" of the film: the entire film as it was shot in front of the green screen, sped up to play in only 12 minutes. You can see the actors (in color!) interacting only with the props and each other. Last, there's a DVD-sized complete comic book of The Hard Goodbye.
<b>What's New in the Extended Version?</b>
"The Customer Is Always Right" (the opening sequence with Josh Hartnett and Marley Shelton) has no new footage, but now goes straight into the one-minute epilogue with Hartnett and Alexis Bledel that closed the theatrical cut. "The Hard Goodbye" (with Mickey Rourke as "Marv" ) has two new sequences totaling about two minutes: Marv encounters his mother and finds his gun, and talks to Weevil in the club. In "The Big Fat Kill" (with Clive Owen and Benicio Del Toro), some short dialogue is restored, along with another wicked slice by Miho (Devon Aoki)--about a minute total. "That Yellow Bastard" (with Bruce Willis and Jessica Alba) has about 3.5 new minutes: there are more visitors to Hartigan's hospital bed, including his wife and a nurse; Carla Gugino's Lucille character comes to assist Hartigan when he wants to get out of jail (probably the best addition); and Mr. Shlubb and Mr. Klump have some more lines. --David Horiuchi

Let's hope that when Frank Miller's "300" is released to DVD, that the extras will be just as enjoyable.
a 12 year olds review.......2007-05-26
i have never read the comics but i got to say that this is one of the best movies ever!!!! lots of great action vilonce and some humor i loved this movie so much i have seen it about 6 or 5 times sooooo good i love this movie. i give it a 5 outta 5 i have to say that this movie is a cult classic!!!!!!(but my friend said he didn,t like it)!!!!!!

it`s sick yet I can`t look away.......2007-05-26
I have to give this movie five stars It is mezmerizing.

One and only one reason.......2007-06-16
There is mainly one reason to buy this movie, the action is so/so, the plot is grossly contrived, but the saving grace for this film is in the underwater camera work. By that I am referring exclusively to the way the cameraman follows Jessica Alba around from behind underwater as she swims. There is no nudity, there needs to be no nudity, this is simply a film about the hottest woman in known existences butt. Its super high def Jessica Alba, you'll be on the slow mo button half the film anyway so I doubt you'll notice an actual story.
A Good Action Adventure Film.......2007-03-10
I enjoyed this alluring film.I found it to be very interesting and thoroughly engrossing. The cast (Paul Walker, Josh Brolin and Scott Caan) was refreshing. The score composed by Paul Haslinger was very effective. Shades of Peter Benchley's THE DEEP seem to glitter in the waters here.
Good.......2007-02-28
I liked this movie. I am a Jessica Alba fan and mainly got it for that reason. The movie is kind of flaky in the sense that the storyline is not original nor is it necessarily a great story. It did have enough action and Jessica Alba to make it a good movie though. I would watch it again, though its not going to make my top 50 movies. Worth it for a bargain price.
Jessica Alba looking good in Blu-Ray!.......2006-12-14
Story Synopsis:
If you are a clothing minimalist, Into The Blue is for you. With the azure skies and crystal waters of the Bahamas their backyard, Jared (Walker) and his girlfriend, Sam (Alba), enjoy a peaceful existence...and incredible tans. But, with the arrival of Sam's childhood friend, Bryce (Caan), and his girlfriend Amanda (Scott), and the subsequent discovering of a possible sunken treasure, greed rears its head jeopardizing not only their friendship, but their very lives.
Disc Picture:
The 2.32:1 MPEG-2 Blu-ray Disc picture looks great, overall. There is a purposely oversaturated look to the picture, with blown-out whites and colors. The underwater color schemes seem to really look good as well. The picture quality is outstanding, with beautiful locales, which is improved of course by the presence of Jessica Alba.
Soundtrack:
The linear PCM 5.1-channel soundtrack uses a broad front stage, good surround integration, and well-recorded dialogue to deliver an enjoyable audio experience. Deep bass is not very prevalent, making the soundtrack sound a bit thin.
Underwater Thriller.......2006-11-17
Jared (Paul Walker) works as a scuba teacher but dreams of being a treasure hunter who finds a gold-laden shipwreck. His girlfriend Sam (Jessica Alba) supports him in all that he does and truly loves him. When Jared's brother Bryce (Scott Caan) shows up with a new girlfriend Amanda (Ashley Scott) luck seems to go their way. They have access to a boat and have found a few scattered remnants of a wreck that might be the pirate ship that's supposed to be the mother lode of treasure ships. Unfortunately, a plane with cocaine has crashed into the ocean nearby and complicates the situation when the drug runners come looking for their lost product. Further trouble happens as everyone argue how best to proceed with the search for the treasure ship, and what to do about the cocaine.
John Stockwell directed the movie and does an amazing job of shooting eye-catching imagery that's stunning on the Blu-ray presentation. I found myself getting sidetracked more than once by the seascape captured in the camera lens, and the fact that I noticed it at all while Jessica Alba was swimming around in a bikini is saying a lot. The audio portion of the movie is packaged uncompressed, allowing the film to take full advantage of a surround sound system and throughly wow the audiophile.
Although INTO THE BLUE doesn't go anywhere spectacular for the experienced moviegoer (films like THE DEEP and A SIMPLE PLAN offer similar plot lines and conflict), it does deliver a very watchable story. The added bonus of the incredible underwater imagery and the impeccable sound system is worth getting the movie in Blu-ray if you don't already have it on DVD.
As a thriller, INTO THE BLUE works. And it's a great buddy flick. Not exactly date material, but if you're with someone who likes action and tension, this will fit the bill nicely.

Let's get this straight: Drew Barrymore started a production company to develop original scripts outside of Hollywood and the first project she chose to produce was this, a romantic comedy written by USC grads Abby Kohn and Mark Silverstein about a nerdy, virginal woman who returns to high school as an undercover reporter, finally gets to be popular, and falls in love. And Barrymore decided, as producer, that the perfect actress to play this virtuous, clean-cut, and downright annoying geek would be... Drew Barrymore? It's hard to believe that after <I>The Wedding Singer</I> Barrymore's not getting enough dopey, formulaic, predictable romantic comedies coming across her desk. The complete inability to buy Barrymore as unattractive, awkward, and unpopular ruins <I>Never Been Kissed</I> from the start, but it's doubtful a better actress could have saved it. The jokes fall flat, the romance between Barrymore and her English teacher (played by Michael Vartan) lacks chemistry, and the portrayals of high school and the newspaper newsroom is clichéd and uninspired (big surprise here: the director, Raja Gosnell, previously made <I>Home Alone 3</I>). Gosnell can't even give the gifted character actor, John C. Reilly, anything to do. Only David Arquette, who plays Barrymore's out-of-control brother, brings any energy to the film. <I>--Dave McCoy</I>
Description
In this hilarious, heartwarming comedy, Drew Barrymore shines as a budding journalist who's determined to go from 'geek' to 'chic' when she is sent back to high school on her first undercover assignment to lern about today's teens. At first, Josie is thrilled with the opportunity until she remembers her nickname from years ago: "Josie Grossie!" Can a former clueless nerd navigate the hallways of high school without trippin over her own feet?

Purchased Never Been Kissed........2007-04-19
I totally love this movie, definitely worth watching. Check it out!
REMINDED ME OF THOSE OLD 80'S HIGH SCHOOL COMEDIES.......2007-04-18
When I watched this film, it reminded me of so many of those comedies from the 80's about high school. I thought Barrymore was good as usual and the film was pretty good for a romantic comedy. The DVD has a very good transfer.
A modern classic comedy.......2007-04-08
For those of us who went through the "Josie Grossie" stage, this movie is a welcome comedy, a sort of Revenge of the Nerds meets The Princess Diaries. Josie Gellar (Drew Barrymore), a 25-year-old copy editor/reporter, has never quite gotten over her traumatic high school years, replete with bad hair days and insensitive classmates. Understandably, she has mixed emotions when her boss, noticing how young she looks, decides Josie can go undercover and give "Sun" readers the latest scoop on high school life. So back to Fast Times at Ridgemont High... Not only is Josie anxious about this assignment, but she's worried about her personal life. At 25, Josie has never even kissed a guy (or rather, been kissed by a guy)--but she doesn't just want to kiss any guy, but someone really special.
While researching this high school expose, Josie has painful flashbacks as she witnesses how kids treat each other. (That a woman as pretty as Drew Barrymore would be willing to look as bad as she possibly can is sheer dedication to her art!) Through her brother's influence on the popular kids (he earns coolness points as a local baseball phenomenon), Josie gets inducted to the alpha crowd and unwittingly slights her "uncool" (second-time around) high school friends. Josie enjoys her English class and surprises her teacher, uber-handsome Sam Coulson, with her love for words and knowledge on the subject. Meanwhile, the Sun eavesdrops on Josie and her high school adventures.
Sam (Michael Vartan), is noplussed by Josie's maturity yet apparent youth. When he learns that Josie is an undercover reporter, he becomes hurt and angry. Josie tries to apologize through the very tabloid that brought on her trouble--and readers anxiously await to see if Sam will meet Josie in a baseball stadium to deliver her first kiss before the appointed time.
(Let me interject my two cents here: Michael Vartan is hot...he has my ideal body type, sigh...I was writhing with jealousy during the kissing scene!)
This movie is hilarious and well-written. It's been accused of being formulaic, but so what? It has a good message and is very funny.
My friends and I never tire of watching this movie, and the expression, "Josie Grossie" has taken on a life of its own. When we show pictures from our childhood to each other, we often qualify them as, "This picture was taken from my Josie Grosie years." (You know, glasses, braces, bad hair, the works...) Or, even in our grown-up years, we'll tell each other if we're feeling particularly Josie Grossie on a given day.
A Fantastic Romantic Comedy.......2007-01-05
The storyline is simple and fun. That's the way I like them. It also helps to be a huge fan of Drew Barrymore.
Why?.......2006-12-17
This is a completely ridiculous and unrealistic movie. Josie, at 25, is still not over the fact that she was unpopular in high school, and whines for the entire movie. It's unclear why any one likes her, espesially her teacher. It's also hard to get over the fact that the teacher, beleiving that she is in high school, makes no attempt to hide his feelings. The final scenes tie nothing together and the issue of her betrail is not delt with. Never Been Kissed isn't good as a silly unbeleivable comedy; it's both painful to watch and devoid of any redeaming qualities in its content.

Stunning tropical scenery and gorgeous athletic movie stars may not make a movie great, but they sure don't hurt. Jared (Paul Walker, <I>The Fast and the Furious</I>) dreams of finding sunken treasure and making millions, but his girlfriend Sam (Jessica Alba, <I>Fantastic Four</I>, <I>Sin City</I>) is content with their poor but idyllic life in the Bahamas. Still, when they find artifacts from a 19th century pirate ship, she gets caught up in the excitement--until they also find a crashed plane full of smuggled cocaine. Naturally, someone's going to want that cocaine back... From there, <I>Into the Blue</I> is a surprisingly well-plotted action movie, unpredictable in its specifics if familiar in its broader outlines. Even more pleasant, the action itself stays plausible and genuinely engaging throughout. Jared seems able to hold his breath for a preternaturally long time, but aside from that the movie is meticulous about the dangers and threats the characters face and is all the stronger for it. Add to this its unabashed ogling of Alba and Walker (both of whom are astonishing physical specimens) and you have a solid romp. Also featuring Scott Caan (<I>Ocean's Eleven</I>), Tyson Beckford (<I>Biker Boyz</I>), and Josh Brolin (<I>Flirting With Disaster</I>) as a slimy rival treasure hunter. <I>--Bret Fetzer</I>
Customer Reviews:
Great summer rental! Eye candy, action, blue waters, and did I mention eye candy!.......2007-06-06
This is the type of movie that DVD rentals were made for as this movie delivers on showing you engaging underwater scenes, action, sexy sexy Paul Walker and Jessica Alba, hungry sharks, humor and a nicely packaged little love story with some flavor.
While 4 stars may seem like too much for this type of flick (OK I give it 3++), it actually delivers in its own way. We're not talking Oscar material here as the script is full of cliches, the acting is a little wooden, poor Jessica's character had nothing to do except look stunning (lips and back ;-) and there are some plot holes. But irrespectively of all this, it kept me smiling from start to finish.
This movie was massacred by critics and I can see why, but I always would rather see a movie deliver on its own scale than fail in every scale, like some movies that are supposed to be funny and they are not. I recommend this one if you want to feel summery and spend a couple of hours with hot/tanned people surrounded by bad guys and gorgeous blue water.
Hot Hot Hot.......2007-05-31
This is a really good movie and Jessica Alba is SO incredibly HOT,I mean WOW.
Did any one see Jessica Alba's little NIP Slip?
It is really hard to catch unless you know where you are looking.
I recommend watching this movie over and over again.
Fun Ocean Flick.......2007-05-28
Being a big fan of Walker and Alba,I looked forward to see how they would be on screen together.I watched it,when it came on tv and was amazed. The chemistry was very cool.It is one of those movies, for me anyway, that whenever it is on,I would watch it.It has all the elements of a beach type movie, with the bikinis and peril.Being it is a action/drama type flick. I'm sure ,that if you are checking out the review for this, you pretty much know about the movie. I waited til the price went down and see Amazon has one of the better prices. It isn't great, but it keeps you on the edge ,til the end. Couple of surprises and cool ocean action....
2.5: dumb dumb dumb...but really pretty.......2007-05-25
A movie like Into the Blue is one of those kind of films where if you have doubts as to its merits and then watch it, well, it's your own fault. You notice the 2 leads on the cover, the setting, the plot and you just say to yourself "oh no, I might not like this right?" Well you'd be pretty right, depending on what you think you're getting into. You wanting to see an original script? Good acting? Well no but if you want to see beautiful cinematography and actors that look just as good well here you go.
Jared and Sam (Paul Walker and Jessica Alba) are a young couple living in the Bahamas. Jared was fired recently as a scuba dive guide while Sam works at a dolphin show as an announcer. One day, Jared's brother Bryce and his new girlfriend Amanda (Scott Caan and Ashley Scott) arrive and go on a scuba dive. They discover 2 things: a plane that crashed which carries a large supply of cocaine as well as artifacts underneath the sand. But of course they don't have the equipment to haul up what could be a sunken vessel so it becomes a question of ethics: get the cocaine and use the money to fund the vessel expedition or leave it alone. Well, there is also the business of a treasure hunter rival as well as the cocaine owner who wants it back and is willing to go far to get it back.
I'll get the positives out of the way because I'm gonna blast this film later. This is one attractive looking movie with the cinematography showing off the idyllic life that you can have in the Bahamas and the underwater photography was well-done as well. The other is of course seeing Alba and Scott in bikinis, which'll get the males salivating. In fact you can make a case this is really the only reason to watch. As for the ladies, well I'm sure Walker is bound to get them going nuts since he's shirtless for a huge chunk of the movie.
Everything else though is just awful. Granted, parts of the story were kind of surprising since half the time I didn't know where it was going but whether that was the script being ahead of me or it just didn't know what it was doing, I haven't a clue. Not to mention these characters are some of the most dumbest I've seen with so many bad choices and you wonder maybe they've been out in the sun too long. And while attractive, all 4 of the leads either look uninterested or they're just not bringing all their acting cards to the table, especially Walker who just feels so...bland. And what's with his Aquaman-like lung capacity?
Should you buy it? No, unless you're a Walker or Alba fan. Should you rent it? If you haven't found anything else, I suppose you can but don't say I didn't warn you.
Amazing!!!.......2007-05-05
