Doris Day, the perky, chaste adult star of an odd collection of winking 1960s sex comedies, takes the Irene Dunne role in this remake of the comedy classic <I>My Favorite Wife</I>. As the survivor of a five-year ordeal on a desert island, she returns home the very day her husband has remarried. James Garner, trading his <I>Maverick</I> impish humor and con man cool for a mugging performance of double takes and pratfalls, is her overjoyed husband who is too cowardly to tell his neurotic bride (Polly Bergen). All of this, naturally, leads to a ridiculously complicated plot that combines door-slamming sex farce with mistaken identities (Day poses as a Swedish masseuse) and a goofy sped-up car chase. Chuck Connors, who costars as Day's hunky, he-man island mate "Adam," leads a topnotch supporting cast that includes sassy Thelma Ritter as Garner's no-nonsense mother, Don Knotts as a nervous shoe salesman enlisted by Day to impersonate Adam, Fred Clark at his indignant best, and John Astin and Pat Harrington in early roles. Edgar Buchanan practically steals the film as a gruff, irascible judge who growls through the legal circus that forms the film's chaotic climax. The cast for the most part rises above the tepid script and bland direction and Day sings two songs. Interestingly, this remake was originally developed for Marilyn Monroe and Dean Martin as the never completed Something's Got to Give. <I>--Sean Axmaker</I>
Description
Say "I do" to "madcap comedy" (Box Office) and "exuberant farce" (Film Daily) in this feel-good romp about one groom, two wives and one delightfully daffy honeymoon! Starring Doris Day, James Garner and Polly Bergen, Move Over, Darling is "a funny, funny film!" (Hollywood Citizen News) that's the perfect union of "humor, romance and heart" (The Hollywood Reporter)! <P>Five years after losing his first wife Ellen (Day) at sea, Nick (Garner) is finally ready to have her declared legally dead, get remarried and settle down to a peaceful second marriage! But wedded bliss becomes marital mayhem when Ellen turns up alive -- with a hilarious, hair-brained scheme to win back her husband, put a stop to the honeymoon and give first love a second chance-at happily-ever-after!

I'm a doris day movie collector. This one is my favorite because I named my daughter Bianca after seeing this movie while arguing over baby names with my husband one night. She has a copy in her collection also just for that reason. She also collects all doris day movies.

Fantastic Job!.......2007-03-30
I bought all seven seasons and could not be happier! They are better than the original in that I don't have to watch commercials and the closed captions are white which make them much easier to read. I'm looking forward to the next releases. I would highly recommend these to everyone as there is no offensive language or overly gruesome scenes. A great big thanks to Universal for this re-release and I hope for more of them.

Ok.......2007-02-07
I bought this for my husband for Christmas who is an ultimate fan of Columbo and I was very dissappointed that this particular season contained episodes that he didn't like much. I would say to make sure you or the person you are gifting to like the shows contained in this collection. I had to send it back.

No one loves the cold months better than acerbic fat cat Garfield, who thrives on a bounty of junk food and traditional meals in the delightful collection of musical-comedy TV specials <I>Garfield Holiday Celebrations</I>. "Garfield's Halloween Adventure" finds the portly hero and airhead-sidekick Odie the dog scrounging through owner Jon's attic to find perfect costumes, then encountering ghosts and ghoulies that seem a tad authentic. "Garfield's Thanksgiving" is a screwball special in which Jon harasses veterinarian Liz into being his Turkey Day guest. Trouble is, Jon is clueless about how to cook a big bird; fortunately, starving Garfield has the good sense to call in Jon's spirited grandmother for a culinary rescue. Grandma shows up, too, in "A Garfield Christmas," about a family get-together that covers all the nice holiday stuff and, of course, lots of bickering, pouting, and jealousy. As long as Garfield gets his Yuletide lasagna, however, all is right with the world. <I>--Tom Keogh</I>

He's Dexter Riley (Kurt Russell), just a regular-guy college student at Medfield College--until one fateful night he is accidentally transformed into a human computer. His newfound genius makes him an overnight sensation when he gets all the answers right on a college quiz show. This instant celebrity status also brings an instant massive ego, which threatens his friendships as well as his safety. Caught up between battling college deans (Joe Flynn and Alan Hewitt) and a dangerous mobster (Cesar Romero), Dexter soon learns friends are more valuable than money. This movie, released in 1970, is a true romp with silly situations and madcap misadventures. The size of the computer itself is now good for a sight gag. It's likable but goofy, with no real weight. A fun, innocent diversion that the whole family can look and laugh at, each for different reasons. Did people really dress like that? <I>--Peggy Maltby-Etra</I>
Description
Dexter Riley (Kurt Russell), a handsome but bumbling Medfield College student, accidentally becomes The Computer Who Knew Too Much when he is effortlessly transformed from half-wit to genius in an electriyfing computer mishap. Gamblers, gangsters, and greedy college deans are quick to fight for control of his computer-like brain ... especially when Dexter nonchalantly starts blabbing the syndicate's secrets! A riotous comedy, programmed for hours of laughter and fun!
Customer Reviews:
another great nostalgia.......2007-01-10
this movie is from the same triology of the advantures of Dexter Railly
and i loved it very much..all the three of them...
FUN Movie...Silly, but FUN!.......2007-01-03
This movie is typical of the live-action Disney fare from the 60s and 70s. Harmless fun based on a silly premise. Kurt Russell was always so fun to watch in his Disney movies. This is the type of movie that was on Sunday nights when I was a kid and afterwards on various local stations and finally on the new Disney Channel before they started original programming and adding other shows of a dubious (but more "hip") nature. If you like silly fun for the whole family, check out this title or any other family movie that features Kurt Russell, Tommy Kirk, Fred MacMurray, Joe Flynn, Ken Berry, Keenan Wynn & Ed Wynn, Hayley Mills, Jim Dale, Dean Jones, Tim Conway, Don Knotts, Robert Morse, Phil Silvers, or Mickey Rooney. You won't be disappointed!!!
I happen to think this is a fine film.......2006-05-23
I don't know why DJ Honeybear is getting all pushed out of shape. I happen to think this DVD is fine. If he doesn't want to pay some cash for the DVD, don't buy it. But don't insist the VHS tape is better, just because it came out first. That's not the fault of the DVD player, or the DVD.
Sounds like Mr. Honeybear needs to slow down on the ho-ho's and ding dong's and try to remember the enjoyment he once had with these classic Disney movies.

Review, do you know the meaning of the term?.......2006-04-04
This is a classic in a series of Disney films with Kurt Russell. Excellent, nostalgic, fun, a must forthe whole family and generations to come! Please write a review of what you though to f the movie, not a synopsi of film and plot! Amazon already does that! Who the hell is this "A viewer" anyway? Gee maybe you want to buy DVD's because VHS is a dying format, and pretty soon you won't be able to find a VHS player/recorder anywhere, you moron. The thing is, unless your VHS doesn't play anymore, why buy the DVD if you already have the film on VHS? Man, I hate moronic people that don't think before they speak.
Classical Disney.......2005-07-28
I grew up with these classics from Disney. Great family entertainment at it's best! The brilliance of Disney's genius really shines in "The Computer Wore Tennis shoes"! Teenagers and young adults may find the special effects outdated, but if they can get beyond that, they will still find the story entertaining and fun to watch.

Customer Reviews:
Great for everybody!.......2007-04-18
My toddler loves the set of DVDs! She wants to watch one every day. Her daddy and I don't mind because these are the same episodes we watched after school when we were kids!
scooby doo.......2007-01-12
absolutely worth the money. all the scooby movies with famous people like don knotts, don adams, mama cass elliot, jonathon winters, the globetrotters, batman, the three stooges. my 3 year old now knows some wonderful actors and comedians from the past-my teenager doesn't know who they are! we watch them all the time.
Makes Us Smile Every Time.......2007-01-07
Few cartoon programs have stood the test of time as well as Scooby-Doo, and the new Scooby movies are such simple pleasures, generating smiles, giggles and goosebumps for the entire family. Not surprising, we have enjoyed a number of repeated viewings of these DVDs, and they have been well worth the money, that is for certain.
A missed opportunity.......2007-01-04
I am reliving my childhood and my 5 yo is too. I loved Scooby but hated Scrappy, so I've stopped at this the season 1 & 2 DVD set.
This selection really isn't a best of. With Phyllis Diller missing, among others, and some average Harlem Globe Trotter ones, it is a missed opportunity. Why not simply include all of them? Problems with rights? Why aren't we told?! Still worth buying for the fan though.
Great, clean, Fun!.......2006-11-03
These are the same Scooby-Doo movies just as you remember them, except these have been remastered. Great film quality and we experienced no problems with the DVD's. Your kids can watch these and see or hear nothing that will make you want to "change the channel," so to speak. Really entertaining and keeps you guessing right up to the end about "whodunnit." Great for kids of ALL ages!

Greenwich Village satirist Theordore J. Flicker made one of the zaniest spy spoofs of the '60s--the ultimate in paranoia and conspiracy. James Coburn stars as a hip New York psychiatrist recruited by his mentor to take on the president as his exclusive patient. After quitting his job because of the stress, he's forced to go into hiding when spies from all sides want to know his secrets. The social and political satire never lets up, as the usually unflappable Coburn becomes completely neurotic. Godfrey Cambridge is hilarious as his cohort and former patient (his opening monologue about self-hatred is a classic), and so is Severn Darden, who plays a charming Russian agent. A true original with the utmost retro appeal today. <I>--Bill Desowitz</I>
Customer Reviews:
That's my car gun. *snickers*.......2007-04-10
I just think James Coburn is sexy. If you like the camp of the Flint movies, give it a try. It is not as delicious, feels more dated, somehow, not so iconic, but some good moments. Seeing lanky Coburn dressed as a wigged hippie banging a gong will give you a good long laugh.
Required reading for anyone in the Internet biz.......2006-12-03
This film is a true classic - it captures a time, place, and mood with remarkable clarity, but moreover, it predicted the future with amazing prescience.
Everyone involved in the communications revolution should know about "TPC" and "Arlington Hewes".
The President's Analyst.......2006-11-05
My husband and I are both James Coburn fans but we found this movie to be unwatchable. The story line is boring in that you just keep seeing him getting called in the middle of the night and then leaving the President's room. We watched this once and will not waste the time on watching it again.
A '60s Cult Classic.......2006-08-18
This is one of the great cult classics of the 1960s. It rolls all of the political, racial, gender, corporate and establishment fears, misunderstandings, stereotypes and psychosis of the '60s cultural revolution into a big ball and then throws it at the nearest bureaucrat. No matter how often you watch this film, you always find something new that you didn't see the last time.
Coming soon : Gulliver's Travels through the webosphere?.......2006-07-29
This 1967 movie may seem dated to some, it's a product of the now mythologised "swinging sixties" but classy, unpretentious and funny satire, like "The President's Analyst" is really ageless.
Jonathan Swift's 1726 "Gulliver's Travels" was a satire on British politics of his day. Gulliver, marooned on Lilliput, met it's six inch high inhabitants. They were in mortal conflict with similarly vertically challenged neighbours, the Blefuscu. Their war was a holy war based on different ways to crack open boiled eggs. Do you open the big end or little end first? Swift was drawing attention to how small policy differences between the Whigs and Tories were inflated into cosmic conflicts by politicians who benefited from the controversy. The story hasn't got old.
"The President's Analyst", of course, isn't classic literature like Swift but it still packs a punch. It variously satirises modern American politics, the Beatles ("the puddlians"), the power of technology (TPC's plan for "a brain chip"), the cold war (the stock portfolio of Kydor Kropotkin ), psychiatry, gun ownership, inter-service rivalry within government (the "FBR" versus the "CEA" that is much more deadly than any East-West rivalry), the bizarre "Spy Vs Spy" world of espionage (who knows how many agencies are chasing the protagonists!) and the modern corporate state (The TPC's secret agenda to control the country by controlling the president by controlling his psychiatrist).
Gulliver is our tour guide through Swift's various satirical worlds. In "The President's Analyst", the ever cool James Coburn as Dr. Sidney Schaefer, plays the same role.
My guess is that before too long this movie will be remade for the X-box internet cell phone generation. Hollywood doesn't seem to write much new material these days. It's probably more relevant today. We're already seeing RFID tracking chips ("Spychips") being inserted into dogs and cats as well as human beings. The connected always on world is an everyday reality. So intead of being dated, maybe "The President's Analyst" was really ahead of it's time.

Description
That infamous cat and his twisted life are back! Staying within the tradition set by the audacious and racy Fritz the Cat, director-co-writer Robert Taylor takes Robert Crumb's way-cool felinecharacter from the boundary-pushing '60s to the harsh realities of Vietnam, racial riots and Watergate of the '70s in a sequel ripe with "pure silliness [and a] hip story-telling style" (Variety)! Fritz has got the post-college blues he's married to a mouthy wife who beats him constantly, and he's out of work and on unemployment! To escape his sad, nagging reality, Fritz launches himself into a psychedelic haze with a mind-blowing catnip that takes him to his eight other lives. There, he lives out fantasies as an out-of-this world astronaut, an aide to President Kissinger and worse...an orderly to Hitler! But as his star-crossed hallucinations put him on a collision course with reality, Fritz becomes a casualty just waiting to happen!

A REALLY CRAZY AND SICK CARTOON OF THE 70'S!!! COOOL!!!!!.......2007-05-20
Man I love the 70's (that's the main reason that I bought this film), they also say that the first film is about the 60's but I DON'T CARE! I only care about the 70's!!
The reason for me that this cartoon is SOO COOL is because of the MASSIVE FOUL LANGUAGE!!! The drugs and sex scenes were also cool (but don't worry they weren't THAT intense but still sicky), the concept of making fun of politicians was FUNNY and the cool character desing and animation were GREAT!
I think that the soundtrack could be better but the movie still AWESOME!.
This film is ever WORSE than Ren and Stinpy, Heavy Metal and Meet the Feebles! IS SOOOOO SICK AND DISSGUSTING!! But I like it!! Because is from the 70's and everything that is from the 70's is cool for me!!! (I didn't know that the 70's was such a CRAZY decade).
WARNING: This low-budget movie contains MANY controvertial subjecs and ethnic stereotypes! But we have to understand that it was made ONLY for adults and it was made in a time of great political changes and war!
Adios.
Nastalgic.......2007-05-07
Anyone that lived in the early 70's, can get nastalgic and remember the "good ol' days".......I recommend this for anyone that saw it then...and would like to remember some of the old times.....toke & enjoy!
Fun for a laugh.......2007-02-13
And social insight to the 60's/70's. A bunch of funny, and quite crude and racially offensive cartoons, but still made with talent and good. Don't take it too seriously, though.
Heh, just would love to see the "Freak Brothers" animated, esp. "Fat Freddy's Cat"! Garfield should see it so he'd not give Jon so hard a time.
The Nine Lives of Fritz the Cat.......2006-08-03
Not worth your money or time. The sender was excellent but the quality of the DVD (regarding the content) was very racial. Very insulting!!
awful.......2005-09-13
The Nine Lives of Fritz the Cats succeeds in being offensive, but that's about all it does. Unlike the South Park movie, which came out in 99 and had a lot of comparisons to the Fritz the Cat serious, Nine Lives is neither funny nor smart. It's disgusting, just like Crumb's comics.

Not the worst Elvis picture, but not near the top, either. This is the one with Elvis as a Navy frogman, diving for sunken treasure--which means lots of underwater photography (inspired by <I>Thunderball</I>, perhaps?). What's fun about it is seeing Elvis collide with the summer of love: he falls in with a beatnik buddy (Pat Harrington in a goatee) and meets a commune of artsy hippie types; they stage obscure "happenings," and Elvis calls 'em "kooks." It says something, though, when the musical highlight is a number called "Yoga Is as Yoga Does," staged in Elsa Lanchester's groovy yoga class. E.P. looks indifferent to the proceedings, an understandable reaction given the painful quality of the comedy (especially the old sea salt who's never been on water). The red Dodge convertible is sweet, however. <I>--Robert Horton</I>
Description
In "Easy Come, Easy Go" Elvis hits the high seas a Lt. (L.G.) Ted Jackson, and underwater demolitions expert who sets out with the skippers' daughter to find gold in a sunken wreck during his final service dive. Entangled in an action-packed adventure of romance and intrigue, the pair must battle adversaries on land and underwater as they attempt to claim the treasures before their plan is foiled. Featuring the songs "Love Machine" and the title tune "Easy Come, Easy Go."
Customer Reviews:
Not Really An Apt Title.......2006-03-22
I remember managing to find a drive-in that was showing the first run ECEG; and I remember my girlfriend not saying a word while we watched. She was too kind. In retrospect, it was so totally wrong for the time that one almost has to respect it. I say almost. It was a numbing experience then and the most one can say for it now is: At least the Elvis impersonators will leave it alone. The story is weak, the co-stars are painful, and the soundtrack so bad, the weakest selling record of Elvis' career managed to kill of the Extended Playing record. But , for all that, it is Elvis, and the true beliver will find something in it worth carrying away. Its just best watched alone.
Elvis In The Psychedelic Sixties.......2005-01-09
Elvis Presley stars as Lieutenant Ted Jackson, a Naval SCUBA diver, who discovers a sunken ship while deactivating a mine. He decides not to re-enlist and teams up with his former band member and partner Pat Harrington, the notorious maintenance man of "One Day at a Time" fame, to help him find a possible treasure in the shipwreck. However, the best character in this movie is yoga teacher Elsa Lanchester, who played the Bride of Frankenstein, co-starring with Boris Karloff. The soundtrack is excellent, with Elvis singing and strumming six wacky tunes, including the unforgettable "Yoga Is as Yoga Does".
Groovy and Shaggy.......2003-02-01
Once again Elvis is hip and ahead of his time in this odd and zany movie. Fun for the whole family.
THRILLING MUSICAL-ADVENTURE!.......2003-01-07
The "Yoga is as Yoga Does" production number remains one of the most memorable moments in cinema. Amazing underwater photography still stuns audiences today. Truly a great film.
What a formula. Goes to show you, only times changed........2002-11-12
"Easy Come, Easy Go" is a likeable in some sense. Elvis is a Navy frogman who's on a search for buried treasure hidden in a sunken ship under the sea. He finds it's linked to Dodie Marshall and with her help he tries to find it. But, there are some unwelcome searchers looking for it too. One of them being the enticing Pat Preist of "Munsters" fame. When the treasure is found, it's all in copper. But, they're able to get some money out of it. A good thousand or so dollars. Elvis' characters were never money hungry. This film has got all the '60s fads and fashions: yoga crazes, body painting, spaghetti/body art, swinging dance moves, swinging music, and a wheel full of girls called "The Love Machine". That one's a great movie song that's often looked down upon. It's so '60s themed like the Bond movie "Casino Royale" is. Take about 95 minutes out of your life and see this swinging flick.

Jack Parr kept a low public profile after turning over the reigns of <I>The Tonight Show</I> to Johnny Carson in 1962. Thus, his passing in January 2004, did not receive nearly the attention it deserved. <I>The Jack Paar Collection</I> restores the legacy of the talk-show pioneer who brought the art of conversation to the barren landscape of late-night television. But, I kid you not, it is an indispensable time capsule that preserves appearances and performances by politicians, personalities, and entertainers who shaped the 20th century. And Robert Goulet, too. Disc 1 of this three-disc set is an appreciation of Paar that combines vintage clips with reminiscences and insights from the likes of Regis Philbin, Hugh Downs, who served as Paar's announcer, Dick Cavett, one of his writers, and the Smothers Brothers, who were among the legendary performers who made their earliest TV appearances on the <I>Tonight Show</I> stage (there are hilarious clips featuring Woody Allen, Bill Cosby, and, from 1964, Kermit the Frog, then just a tadpole in local television).
As Paar demonstrated when he quit <I>The Tonight Show</I> after one of his jokes was censored, anything could happen. In one hilarious clip, he fouls up a Goulet-Judy Garland duet by mixing up their cue cards. <I>Washington Post</I> TV critic Tom Shales observes that, unlike predecessor Steve Allen and successors Johnny Carson and Jay Leno, Jack Parr's <I>Tonight Show</I> combined "the edge of journalism and sparkle of showbiz." Then-Sen. John F. Kennedy was one of the first politicians who ventured into this more informal, unpredictable setting. There is amazing footage of guest Richard M. Nixon playing piano. Discs 2 and 3 present the master at work. Disc 2 contains complete monologues and guest interviews with Nixon, the boxer formerly known as Cassius Clay, Liberace, Billy Graham, and Robert Kennedy. Disc 3 offers three complete broadcasts, including a 1964 program with Cosby and Richard Burton (an added bonus is an embedded clip of Burton's towering performance as Hamlet). Forgive the obvious pun, but to watch Jack in his prime is to see why today's hosts are just not up to Paar. <I>--Donald Liebenson</I><I></I>
Description
Talk at its finest, The Jack Paar Collection captures the pioneering talk-show host at his very best. From his years spent hosting The Tonight Show to his own Jack Paar Program, Paar took the traditional interview out of the mundane, engaging actors, athletes, musicians, and politicians on a whole new level. His interviews were occasionally controversial, frequently emotional, and always-always-provocative. Created with the participation of Jack and his family, this deluxe DVD set serves as a moving tribute in light of his January 27th passing. <P>Disc 1: Contains December 2003's PBS documentary Smart Television: The Best Of Jack Paar, which appeared on stations throughout the country, so awareness is high. Included are clips of Woody Allen, Fidel Castro, Bill Cosby, Jonathan Winters, Judy Garland, John F. Kennedy and more of the era's most celebrated personalities, plus contemporary interviews with Dick Cavett, Regis Philbin, Hugh Downs, and unseen bonus material. <P>Disc 2: Some of Paar's most important interviews are offered whole, including Richard Nixon, Robert Kennedy, and Cassius Clay (soon to become Muhammad Ali) on the eve of his legendary championship fight with Sonny Liston, plus six of Jack Paar's favorite monologues. <P>Disc 3: Three complete episodes including guests Richard Burton, Bill Cosby (doing one of his earliest routines), Judy Garland, and Bette Davis.
Customer Reviews:
A "MUST HAVE" set for any Paar fan.......2007-06-12
It isn't as if there's an abundance of video available on one of the greatest talents to ever grace the tube. Therefore, let no criticism (however valid) of this set keep you from getting it if you're a Jack Paar fan. I too, thought the erstwhile NBC page's reminiscences were a bit excessive and not particularly interesting (OK, maybe I'm a bit jealous, too), but in no way does it detract from the set. Bonus inclusions, like that of an entire Vaughn Meader (as JFK) routine on video (also as scarce as hen's teeth), help me to easily overlook any production or selection shortcomings. Public domain or not, unfortunately, too much such classic entertainment was either destroyed accidentally or purposely erased (like many of the early Johnny Carson "Tonight" shows) by short-sighted nitwits, so in such situations, I'll gladly take what I can get.
The Best Talk Show Ever.......2006-09-12
Jack Paar was the greatest of all talk show hosts then and
now. No question about that. This collection brought back
many, many memories of TV when it was really good. Paar was
the most interesting interviewer-his monologues were as
fascinating as any interview with his guests. This collection reminds you how funny Jonathan Winters was. I could listen to
Robert Morley for hours. It made me sad to see President
Kennedy and the wonderful promises we lost in his death.
The most intriguing facet of Paar was that he actually wasnt
in charge of the conversation-the guests were and that is what
set Paar aside from all other talk show hosts since. We have lost alot, I mean alot of good TV since Paar which is a very
sad thing.
A Very Worthwhile Collection.......2006-09-06
I'm not sure why so many people are irked by what ISN'T in this collection. You can't put everything in any collection (unless it's the collected works of Francis Scott Key). I'm grateful for what IS in this collection and it's luverly to have this early Paar material on disc - plus the recent interviews, especially with Cavett. It reminds us how long it's been since talk shows centered on intelligent conversation instead of blather.
Above Paar!.......2005-09-30
Jack Paar was unique. He was funny and cerebral. This outstanding set of DVDs shows why he was such fun to watch.
Could have been done better.......2005-09-10
Being born in 1958, I never saw the Jack Paar show when it was on because I was too young, but I have always heard about the mercurial Paar. The set starts off well with a documentary featuring old footage mixed with current interviews with Paar sidekick Hugh Downs, Dick Cavett (who wrote for the show and was himself a Paar disciple) and the Smothers Brothers, among others. The second disk contains show highlights including Bobby Kennedy's first TV appearance after the assassination of his brother, the Liberace/Cassius Clay duet, Richard Nixon playing the piano, and a Billy Graham interview, which I could not suffer through.
The highlights of Disk 3 include Jonathan Winters teasing Bette Davis, who teaches everyone how to do an impression of herself (everyone smoking) and an obviously inebriated Judy Garland doing 2 songs and holding hands with Paar during the interview. Yes, Bette Davis is hoarse and Garland is way out there, but these are fascinating to watch BECAUSE of these quirks, you would never see anything like this done on TV today, it has gotten so slick and produced.
The drawbacks are: 1 Some of the clips from disk 1 are repeated on the other disks, which is maddening. 2. The great Judy Garland / Robert Goulet show is discussed, but the show is not shown, only a short clip. 3. Worst of all, where is the infamous walk-off???
I wouldn't purchase this set, but it is definitely worth renting to see the originator of the unscripted talk show format, perhaps the most copied format in all of TV. The on-line services have it available for rental.

Timeless, captivating fun for children and fine nostalgic nonsense for adults, the Harlem Globetrotters episodes from the Scooby-Doo canon border on goofy anarchy. During the four-year run of <I>The New Scooby-Doo Movies</I> on 1970s television, the Mystery, Inc. gang of Fred, Velma, Daphne, Shaggy, and the preternaturally skillful canine hero Scooby-Doo hooked up with cartoon versions of many real-life celebrities (who provided their own voices).
The Harlem Globetrotters, a traveling comedy act showcasing basketball tricks and unsportsmanlike high jinks, had a core team of well-known performers, led by Meadowlark Lemon, who were naturally funny partners in <I>Scooby</I>'s ghostbusting investigations. This disc contains two of the three HG programs, "The Mystery of Haunted Island" and "The Loch Ness Mess," the former a somewhat creaky, run-of-the-mill <I>Scooby</I> haunting, while the latter features a more interesting conspiracy for Shaggy and the others to crack. <I>--Tom Keogh</I>

Happy memories.......2007-06-06
Its great to be able to watch these with my kids. They are relatively innocent cartoons with minimal violence where the good guys solve the mystery.
Good but missing something.......2006-08-19
I loved the two episodes on here but I remember seeing other Scooby Doo/Globetrotter episodes as a kid. I wonder why they didn't just release ALL of the episodes on one disc. Weird.
while these are good you do better getting the best of scooby doo movies set instead.......2006-06-01
my boys got this one very soon after we got them so we watched this one many times and have enjoyed it. that said you would do better getting the best of the scooby-doo movies on the dvd set and you get these plus many more of the scooby movies.
Well, it's not the greatest Scooby Doo ever........2004-09-22
Scooby Doo was still in it's early phases back when these 2 hour long episodes were made. So expect it to be very 70's and yet without the charm of the 1969 series. The New Scooby Doo Show at the time had 40 minutes of animation and 20 minutes commercials. This gave the writers a chance to have a bigger story and more mysteries and clues. The Harlem Globetrotters (who?) showed up some of these episodes and this DVD features 2 of them.
Unfortunately too much time is devoted to them being rather unfunny than any plot development. And why oh why are they not a natural brown color? Instead the Globetrotters are an un-nervingly vague Michael Jackson greyish color. Either the animation is very old and sun-bleached or that was just bad coloring.
The DVD is in 1.33:1 full frame, as originally broadcast with Dolby Mono sound. Some slight extras are included.
Scooby Doo Meets the Harlem Globetrotters DVD.......2004-06-17
My daughter loves Scooby Doo, just like her mom did. I was surprised to see two movies with the Globetrotters because I remember only one. If you love Scooby Doo, this is a good one to buy. I have watched Scooby for years and cannot remember ever seeing the lock ness globetrotter movie, a real bonus for me and maybe for you.
