Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.
Provocative, appealing and controversial.......2006-08-02
Fomenko has succeeded to convincingly demonstrate the misconception about what "history" factually is... It is fiction and -like we can read and judge for ourselves- no science. It indeed is "make belief" only. I "discovered" Fomenko while studying the "old" history of Al Andaluz, Spain. Having found too many contradictions in available data, having seen too many forgeries as to pretend the importance of christianity for its decline, I ventured out to find Fomenko, who convinced me that we know little if anything for sure of the epoch before the XI-century. However, the integration of the Arabic-Islamic cultural history into the heavily distorted Western fails... There are some attempts to fit "the budding new religion" (Islam) into Fomenko's scheme, but they are too weak to be taken seriously and too often focussing on Turkey as the region where things started to influence the West, which is untrue at all.
Islam certainly was no "new religion" in the X-century. That the highly cultivated Al Andaluz ruler Mohammed-I could have been "mirrored" down in time into some myth about the "illiterate" founder of Islam itself is highly speculative. Nevertheless, Fomenko convinces me about the processes that were involved in forging a christian history. Intriguing and controversial as his books are, I recommend them as to rethink our current position in time and space and simply verify what was claimed. It is a "good" book, but not for bedtime reading... Mundus vult decipi, the world wants to be cheated. Fomenko's readers will understand why.
pharaohs lived in the 3rd century AD.......2006-02-16
Traces of white wine were found in Tutankhamen's tomb however there were no record of white wine in Egypt until the 3rd century AD, 1600 years after the young pharaoh died according to the traditional chronology. http://www.newscientist.com/channel/being-human/mg18925395.400
It can be interpreted as a contribution towards New Chronology theory that pharaohs lived in the 3rd century AD.

Product Description
Is a pirate's life for you? Here's how to live the life of a Caribbean pirate!
Think you know everything there is to know about pirates, do you? Well me bucko, you've got a lot to learn, and here's where you can drink your fill!
Recommended by Pat Croce (of Pirate Soul) and two leading pirate magazines (No Quarter Given and Pyrates Way), Caribbean Pirates is an engaging look at pirate history through the lens of the Disney film franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean -- explaining fact from Hollywood fiction. With art especially commissioned by former Disney Imagineer Tim Kirk and 145 color photos, this book not only features over four dozen essays about pirate life ("Were pirates really hung?" and "Were there cannibals in the Caribbean?") but also a wealth of information on how to talk, dress, and live like a pirate: drink your fill at festivals, cruises, and museums with pirate exhibits. The book concludes with recommended resources (books, movies, and websites). A "no holds barred" look at the colorful cutthroats that cruised and plundered the Caribbean!
Customer Reviews:
Charming and informative.......2007-06-11
This is a great book if you are a fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride or of the movies. The author covers every topic I could imagine on the subects of the movies and the historical facts from which they were developed. Don't think it is a bland history book though! It is jam-packed with photos, maps, quizes, and even advice on how to create your own authentic pirate garb! What a charming book!
Yo ho!.......2007-05-29
I'd like to add my voice to the chorus of praise for Beahm's latest volume!
Despite its pirate-booty of information on the hard facts and history of pirate life, the book remains completely accessible and as breezy as a Caribbean night. Young adult readers in particular, their curiosity piqued by the Disney films, will find CARIBBEAN PIRATES an enticing port of entry to the legendary world of piracy.
So, if it's a pirate's life for you, pour yourself a flagon of grog and set sail with Captain "Scurvy Dog" Beahm and his loyal crew of cutthroats. Yo ho, me mateys!
A sheer delight.......2007-05-16
This truly is a "gem" of a book, as one reviewer already noted. Using Disney's efforts--both on film and in theme parks--as his tie-in, the author adroitly and pithily talks about pirate culture, and does so in a way that will fascinate young adult as well as adult readers. Smartly organized, beautifully illustrated, this book is a good read and would make a terrific gift.
A Treasure Chest Of Gold!.......2007-05-04
If you like anything to do with pirates--fact, fiction or folklore--this is the book for you! Well written by George Beahm and beautifully illustrated by former Disney artist Tim Kirk. A real gem of a book! Highly recommended!
Excellent companion to all things pirate.......2007-04-28
As he did with his books on Harry Potter and Stephen King, George Beahm has done it again with CARIBBEAN PIRATES: He has taken the historically rich subject of pirates and presented just about everything you could possibly want to know about them in a readable, accessible format. The book bills itself as a treasure chest of fact and lore and that is, in fact, the term that immediately comes to mind when you pick the book up. It is gorgeously designed with a great array of photos; it has beautiful French flaps that open to a full-size map on the end papers. Inside, the design is equally lush and appealing. The photos, many of which were taken by the author, span the gamut of pirate history, legend, and popular culture.
But what makes a book worthy of a reader's time and money is not its design, but its content. What's inside. And in this, Beahm also delivers spectacularly. The first section, "Pirate Fact and Fiction," is essentially a "Pirates FAQ." A question is asked; an answer is provided. And the questions are irresistible: "Did pirates consult voodoo priestesses?" "Did pirates use marooning as a punishment?" "Did pirates make their victims walk the plank?" And dozens more, all of which are answered clearly, and are great fun to read. (And I won't spoil said fun by providing the answers!)
The second part of the book is called "A Pirate's Life for You" and is basically a "how-to" on how to speak, dress, and live like a pirate. This, too is great fun. There's also a pirates quiz, and sections on pirate books, movies, websites, and memorabilia. There's also a glossary of pirate terms, including a section on "Insulting Terms." You'll learn that calling someone a "bilge rat" is a great way to start a fight, if you're so inclined.
The Disney PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN films have spurred interest in all things pirate, and George Beahm's CARIBBEAN PIRATES is the perfect companion to the whole pirate experience. It's concise, clearly written, historically accurate, and, above all, a delight to read. Recommended.

General Hitorical Overview.......2007-05-31
A good compilation of facts about pirates in general. This book basically covers a one to two page general outline of main piratical subjects. Not for scholarly use, but a fun general read. It seemed to be a little advanced for children's use however it is a more advanced type of broad useful and interesting facts.

Encyclopedia of Piracy (A Good Start).......2002-09-15
This is an A-Z coverage of pirates and related topics. It includes coverage of books, authors, movies, actors, places and, you got it, actual pirates. If you want information of something piratical this is a good first place to look. There's a lot left out though, so I'd consider this as a good beginning on a more comprehensive book.
One big caution though, Rogozinski, doesn't seem to be overly constrained by history, so don't take everything written in this book as gospel. P-)
a fun coffee-table book.......2002-08-25
This is basically a coffee-table book, with lots of neat facts and figures about all things piratical. It certainly has some errors here and there, but it serves as a nice cross-referencing tool with other books on the subject. And where else can one find such a diverse discussion, including entries on the origin and formation of the pop-culture image of the pirate (peglegs, yo ho ho, etc), camp movies like the various Treasure Island features, and reviews of stories from Sabatini to Pope? While this book could certainly cover the pirate pulp novels of the 40s, 50s, & 60s better (think Jay Scotland), it's great for what it is. For a more scholarly book, I strongly recommend Ritchie's Captain Kidd.
A good reference book, but an average history one........1999-06-17
This book is practical for references. But the author is often wrong. I found about a dozen fatal errors, and several minor ones. I have read many, many books of pirates history. If the author had truly read with care his masive bibliography, then he would not have made so many mistakes. I do not believe he did his homework well. Also, he does not gives any body of notes, so we the readers do not know where he took his data from, nor can we distinguish when is he using primary sources or when he is making things up. I recomend it only with reserves. For a better book, see David Cordingly, or go to the masters as Gosse.

Gentlemen of Misfortune.......2005-11-11
I was thrilled when my parents found their 1921 hardcover edition of Howard Pyle's Book of Pirates! There are seven chapters, each of about 30 pages in length, thirteen beautiful paintings, and countless sketches that were included for the first time.
The confusing thing is the title: is the book fiction, or does Pyle relate the facts of certain pirates? By the second chapter, it is evident the book is fiction loosely wrapped around real-life elements and historical characters. For example, "With the Buccaneers" utilizes Henry Morgan and some of his affairs, while "Jack Ballister's Fortunes" is about the downfall of Blackbeard. Both are fictionally portrayed while containing elements and dialogue reportedly true to the events of the time.
The first chapter, Buccaneers and Marooners of the Spanish Main, is probably a reprinting of Pyle's article (or an excerpt from the book) of the same name. In it, Pyle breezes over Pierre François, Bartholomew Portuguese, and Roch Braziliano, all of whom are several minor characters who helped instigate, in their small way, the piracies of the 17th century. Pyle continues by recounting brief histories of Captain Henry Morgan, who was knighted by King Charles II, and Captain Avary, whose exploits twisted against him. Captain Kidd gets but one paragraph asserting (and correctly so) he was never a true pirate. Pyle then focuses on tales regarding Blackbeard in and around the Carolinas; Captain Low, who revenged against Yankees; and Pyle then concludes by mentioning the likes of "Ned" England, Captain Howell Davis, and of course the great Bartholomew Roberts.
The chapters that follow are merely short stories that disappoint when it comes to swashbuckling affairs, but are entertaining nevertheless, and more so, probably, for younger readers. My favorite yarn in this book is "Tom Chist and the Treasure Box," where a young lad espies Captain Kidd burying a treasure chest late at night. The tale is so simple and so romantic that I enjoyed it immensely. "Blueskin" is perhaps the most mature story and most readers will relate to the struggles of lost love found here. The story is the darkest and most frightening of the collection.
The compilation leaves out many of Pyle's greater paintings, and the stories simply aren't as well written or as imaginative as I had hoped. But the book can be read quickly while your crew careens the ship.
