Amazon.com Product Description
The affordable, ergonomic Olympus D-535 digital camera makes it easy and fun to capture the memories of your life with its easy-to-use one-button, one-function operation. It features a 3.2-megapixel resolution, 3x optical zoom, built-in pop-up flash, 12 MB internal memory and XD Picture Card compatibility, and a movie mode with sound that can capture as much video as your memory card can handle.
Optics and Resolution
The 1/2.7-inch CCD captures 3.2-megapixel images for printed enlargements up to 11 x 17 inches. Image resolutions include: 2048 x 1536 (3 MP), 1600 x 1200 (2 MP), and 640 x 480. The lens, which is seated in the top-right corner of the camera's front, has a 5.8-17.4mm focal range (35-105mm equivalent in 35mm photography) with an f2.9 to f5.0 aperture range. The camera has a 3x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom for a total 12x zoom.
Movie Mode
The camera's QuickTime Movie Mode (at 15 frames per second, or fps) without sound can be used to make mini movies limited only by the amount of available memory (internally or externally). It features the following movie resolutions: 320 x 420 and 160 x 120.
More Features
- 1.5-inch TFT color LCD (approximately 130,000 pixels)
- Super macro mode as close as 2cm
- 4 scene modes: Portrait, Landscape, Indoors, and Night Scene
- Exposure compensation: +/- 2 EV (exposure value) steps in 1/3 EV steps
- Flash modes: auto, red-eye reduction, fill-in, and off
- Self timer of up to 12 seconds
Storage and Transfer
Images are stored either within the 12 MB internal memory or on optional XD memory cards. The XD card's small size, about the same as a postage stamp, helps to keep the camera size down. The internal 12 MB memory will store approximately 14 images at 2048 x 1536 pixels (at HQ, JPEG setting) without sound. Images can be downloaded to either a Mac or PC via USB 1.1 connectivity.
Direct Printing
The D-535 is PictBridge compatible, which enables you to transfer pictures from your digital camera to a compatible printer (such as the Olympus P-10), without a PC or image-editing software. All PictBridge devices share three basic features: camera-to-printer connecting, single-image printing, and uniform error messages (in case something goes wrong).
Power and Size
This camera is powered by 2 AA batteries (alkalines supplied; NiMH rechargeables recommended). It measures 3.4 x 2.5 x 1.5 inches (WxHxD) and weighs 4.9 ounces without battery or media card.

Gave as a gift and they still love it..........2007-06-17
This camera is still getting good use after a couple of years of abuse and trips! The camera is strong and runs nice. It's not complicated and the shots come out great.
It's too old to recommend now but I still give it 5 stars because it is still going after all this time. Olympus makes good stuff!
Still Working.......2006-12-23
I've had this camera for 2 years now and it's still great. I am tempted to buy all the newer cooler cameras out there, but I don't need to because this camera does everything I want it to do. It took some experimenting to get the right settings. First, it's important to change the brightness settings on the camera if your pictures are coming out too dark. I just figured this out recently and every picture I have taken since then has been excellent! The best mode to use in the Auto Mode. There are several quality settings and I usually use the HQ setting. There is also SHQ, but there's not much difference between SHQ and HQ besides the amount of pictures you can store. I have not noticed a significant amount of time between when you press the shutter and when the picture takes. That has never been a problem for me, I always get the pictures I want. My prints always come out great too, I go to Walgreens for prints. Also, buying rechargeable batteries has saved me a TON of money!
If you just need a simple camera to take pictures around the house or on vacation, this is a great choice. I believe they have more updated models of this camera with more megapixels now.
Just remember to change the brightness settings!
pretty good!!.......2006-02-26
i luvvv this camera (i just got it today and its allllll that iv been doing!)its great the only things i dont like is how long it takes after u press the button till the time the picture actually takes!!, theres no sports mode on it (for xample at basketball today my dad couldnt take pictures because they all turned out blurry, and last is the movie feature doesnt hav sound sooo tecnically its not a movie!!! but overall i luv the camera!!!!!!!
Not so great.......2006-01-31
I selected this camera, my first digital, because of the price and the interesting features (such as movie mode). While the convenience of digital cameras make them attractive, I would not recommend this camera. Inside pictures are always way too dark and blurry. I had some of the pictures that I took printed and they are terrible! Also, this camera has a VERY long pause between pushing the button to take the picture and the actual time that the camera shoots the scene. It takes so long that the subject (kids, dog) move before it is done! This is very frustrating. When I am in a situation where pictures are important (new baby, birthdays, Christmas), I always reach for my reliable film camera (Canon Rebel X). I like the idea of a digital camera but the quality that I expect is not present in this camera.
Olympus Camedia D535.......2005-11-26
The camera is pretty good for its price. It was my first digital camera and was pretty good but now I'm looking to upgrade only because indoor pictures, even in well lit areas look very dim. Also I have to keep playing around with the settings in order for it to take a picture at all indoors, and it often times takes a really long time to actually take the picture. You have to have very steady hands in order for night mode/close up mode not to blur. It takes a bit of practice. Also I found the video to be quite pointless since there was no sound to it. Also I tried to take firework pictures, but that was a disaster. Pictures are excellent outdoors, and sometimes the bluriness during night photos can give an interesting effect...sometimes.
It's very easy to use though, and I usually brighten up dim pictures easily in Paint Shop Pro.
