Optics and Resolution
The PowerShot A310 has a maximum 3.2-megapixel resolution for images up to 2048 x 1536 pixels. You'll have the depth and detail you need to create beautiful prints and impressive online results. It also has 1600 x 1200, 1024 x 768, and 640 x 480 resolution modes.

It's is equipped with a 33mm f/3.6 (35mm equivalent) moderate wide-angle lens, suitable for scenic views and group portraits, as well as general photography. A 5.1x digital zoom facility enhances reach, creating an effective maximum zoom length of 168mm (35mm equivalent).

Movie Mode
The movie capability has been upgraded from the A300, with the ability to capture 30 seconds of video with audio at a 640 x 480 (VGA) resolution. You can also capture up to 3 minutes of video at 320 x 240 or 160 x 120 pixel resolutions.

Direct Printing/Sharing
The PowerShot A310 introduces a new Print/Share button that speeds and simplifies printing to compatible Canon and PictBridge enabled printers and one-touch image transfer to Windows XP, Me, 2000, and 98 computers for use with image processing programs, uploading to the Internet, or placement in e-mail. When connected to a Canon Compact Photo printer, a Movie Print mode divides the selected clip into equal parts and prints thumbnails of a maximum 63 equally spaced frames onto a single sheet of Postcard Size Paper.

Storage and Transfer
Images and video are stored on CompactFlash memory cards (Type I only) and the included 32 MB card holds approximately 33 images at the Large/Fine setting. Images can be downloaded to either a Mac or PC via USB 1.1 connectivity, which means the camera can be connected to any USB-based Windows Me/2000/XP and Mac OS 8.6 or later computer without installing any software.

Power and Size
The camera is powered by two AA batteries (alkalines included; rechargeable NiMH batteries recommended). With the LCD on, you will get approximately 75 shots on when using alkalines, or 350 shots when using NiMH batteries. It measures 4.33 by 2.28 by 1.44 inches and weighs 6.17 ounces (without batteries).

What's in the Box
This package contains the PowerShot A310 digital camera, 32 MB CompactFlash card, wrist strap (WS-200), two AA alkaline batteries, and USB cable. The supplied software on the CD-ROM includes browsing and printing software ZoomBrowser EX (Windows) and ImageBrowser (Mac). Other software includes PhotoStitch, plus photo and movie manipulation software ArcSoft PhotoStudio and VideoImpression.

Excellent camera, but LCD issue confirmed by canon.......2007-04-24

We bought this as our first digital camera experience when we had a baby 4 years ago. Considerably higher priced then, but well worth the usage. Easy for beginer, but photo quality of expert. We loved sharing our high quality pics, most especially the short mini-video clips of baby to share. Problem is LCD stopped working, the icons are there but you can't see the pics before you snap. Canon has confirmed that they acknowledge use of defective chips in this model and have offered to repair my camera. Now you just can't beat that!

Stayed Strong For Four Years.......2007-03-15

This was a fantastic camera, and if the display hadn't stopped working a few weeks ago I'd stick with it for as long as it'd take pictures. The 3.2MP is perfect for 4x6s, I've printed some 8x10s and they've come out fine as well and they don't take up a lot of room on my computer. The colors are vivid and the settings easy to use. I found that photos without the flash turned out best (I think this is true of most cameras, even the digital SLRs have flash issues). The video option was particularly useful, although it only allows video in 30 second clips I found this was often the best option as I could stitch videos into a montage rather than a long string of video (which I find boring).

The best thing about the camera was its durability. It's been across three continents in a backpack, dropped from a window, dropped in the ocean, and survived years in a messenger bag at college. It only recently stopped working after a day trip, so I'm looking for a new Canon, but still giving this one an excellent review. If you can find it, get it!

THIS IS THE THIRD A310 I HAVE BOOUGHT - WE ARE A CONTRACTING COMPANY & THESE CAMERAS ARE GREAT TO SEND OUT TO A JOB SITE WHEN I WANT PICTURE BACK UP OR TO SHOW CLIENTS BEFORE & AFTER SHOTS. IT DOES TAKE ITS TIME GETTING READY TO RESHOOT BUT FOR OUR PURPOSE THE PRICE FOR THE CAMERA IS MY DECIDING FACTOR.

Excellent Camera.......2006-11-30

This is just an Excellent camera. I have bought 3 till date for me and my family. There are people out there to criticize it for faults like No optical zoom but these are functionalities of the camera that are specified in the Description, so if they haven't read them before buying it then its their fault. Its not that it malfunctions after u buy it or the Optical zoom capability disappears after one purchases it, so please think before criticizing such as excellent product.

This product from Canon may go down as a Classic. Its photographs are mind blowing and videos are crystal clear. Ive dropped the camera from my pocket while jogging onto solid Tar and it came out unscathed. It can a beating and its worth more than the 125 bucks Ive paid for it.

Just not my kind of camera.......2006-10-09

This camera did not live up to my standards. I just wanted a simple nice camera that took clear shots and was able to take a picture without taking 2 mintues to do so. And a camera that can take good pictures even if your hand is shaking a little...apparently this was not the camera for me. I had this camera for this years, I got it for my 15th birthday and at first it was a great camera because it was my first but then it quickly got annoying. Now I can't even download any pictures onto my computer and it takes a long time to even take a shot...while you hope it turns out semi-clear. I was not happy at all. Plus, I found another camera that was actually cheaper than this one and was 100 times more coperative. So I would say this is a horrible purchase and do not even think of giving it a try.
