Easy to Use, Beautiful Photos, Good Movies.......2007-06-21
This is my favorite camera. I used it constantly for a year and then upgraded last fall to the 7 mega pixel version of it. Now my kids use this one. They love it, too. It's easy enough to use that my 5 year old can even use it! I like the burst mode that lets me take 3 photos quickly in a row. I like that I can mount it to my tripod. I'm not an advanced enough user to need alot of the special features it offers, but I enjoy the action and portrait modes. I especially like the hard lens cover that protects it. The cameras that just have a self-closing lens cover never work for me because the cover can be pushed open easily and then the lens gets scratched. I need a camera like this one that can get banged around in the car. I dropped it off the kitchen counter the other day and it still works fine. It's a good sturdy camera and the prints come out beautiful.
small annoyances.......2007-06-18
I have been happy with the quality of the pictures which has been very rewarding. I do have a couple of compaints though that I find worth sharing with others interested in this camera. The reviews I read before my purchase stated how the pop the lense cap popping off every time you turn the camera on is quite annoying which I found to be the case. There's no option to just look at your photos without the lense pushing out and the cap popping off. I have found that a camera that has an automatic lense like that uses up the battery pretty quickly. I find I need to replace the battery every 3 months with just general use of the camera. If purchasing this camera, buy the recharger along with it and a case as well. Also, the camera is very awkward to carry around to events without a case.
good camera, lots of features.......2007-03-29
This is a pretty good camera, loaded with lots of features. The pros include the 10x optical zoom, use of SD card, and battery consumption. Also, with this camera you have the ability to buy add-ons such as zoom lenses and such - makes it nice for those that are just past beginner experience.
There are a couple of cons that I've found, the most important being the picture quality. Although it does have the capability to take great photos, you have to make sure and wait several seconds between shots to ensure that they'll come out looking great (in my opinion, anyway). The size is okay, although it is kinda bulky for being so small. I prefer something that size to also be slim - it's not so easy to carry around because of this.
Overall, this camera is very easy to use.
Perfect for photographers who want to get their feet wet........2007-03-25
I got this camera for the use in a digital photo class. It was wonderful. There wasn't anything that confused me when I first got it, and it took great pictures. The software was a little tricky because it moved all of my photos to a different place that gave me very little access, but that was easily taken care of by uninstalling the software and using the USB cable by itself.
The 10x zoom is great, but if you move at all your picture can be quite blurry. I would get a tripod to use when you have it zoomed really far in.
Overall it's a great camera that takes great pictures and good video.
Love The Camera, But LCD Screen Failed.......2007-03-07
I have a similar issue as another reviewer had... my Z740's LCD screen failed a few months ago. I turn on the camera and all the screen shows is solid white. The little eye-piece viewfinder still displays fine, and the pictures & videos still come out fine, but I can't use the lcd screen as my viewfinder any more... which was one of the biggest reasons I bought the camera...
Others online have had this problem, but I can't find anyone who has gotten it resolved. My camera is well out of warranty, so I have no hope of Kodak fixing it.
Otherwise though, it's a great camera... very impressive actually. I just wish it hadn't died after a year and a half of occasional use... :-(

Wide Angle Fisheye Lens.......2007-03-03
I got this lens about a week ago and I haven't been able to stop using it ever since. It's a great lens, great quality, all for a low price. It's easy to put on your camera and comes with an adapter. The only problem I have with it is when you use flash you can see the shadow of the lens since it's long on the bottom of the picture. But that may be because I still have to learn how to master using this lens. But overall it's a great product.

Easy to Use, Beautiful Photos, Good Movies.......2007-06-21
This is my favorite camera. I used it constantly for a year and then upgraded last fall to the 7 mega pixel version of it. Now my kids use this one. They love it, too. It's easy enough to use that my 5 year old can even use it! I like the burst mode that lets me take 3 photos quickly in a row. I like that I can mount it to my tripod. I'm not an advanced enough user to need alot of the special features it offers, but I enjoy the action and portrait modes. I especially like the hard lens cover that protects it. The cameras that just have a self-closing lens cover never work for me because the cover can be pushed open easily and then the lens gets scratched. I need a camera like this one that can get banged around in the car. I dropped it off the kitchen counter the other day and it still works fine. It's a good sturdy camera and the prints come out beautiful.
small annoyances.......2007-06-18
I have been happy with the quality of the pictures which has been very rewarding. I do have a couple of compaints though that I find worth sharing with others interested in this camera. The reviews I read before my purchase stated how the pop the lense cap popping off every time you turn the camera on is quite annoying which I found to be the case. There's no option to just look at your photos without the lense pushing out and the cap popping off. I have found that a camera that has an automatic lense like that uses up the battery pretty quickly. I find I need to replace the battery every 3 months with just general use of the camera. If purchasing this camera, buy the recharger along with it and a case as well. Also, the camera is very awkward to carry around to events without a case.
good camera, lots of features.......2007-03-29
This is a pretty good camera, loaded with lots of features. The pros include the 10x optical zoom, use of SD card, and battery consumption. Also, with this camera you have the ability to buy add-ons such as zoom lenses and such - makes it nice for those that are just past beginner experience.
There are a couple of cons that I've found, the most important being the picture quality. Although it does have the capability to take great photos, you have to make sure and wait several seconds between shots to ensure that they'll come out looking great (in my opinion, anyway). The size is okay, although it is kinda bulky for being so small. I prefer something that size to also be slim - it's not so easy to carry around because of this.
Overall, this camera is very easy to use.
Perfect for photographers who want to get their feet wet........2007-03-25
I got this camera for the use in a digital photo class. It was wonderful. There wasn't anything that confused me when I first got it, and it took great pictures. The software was a little tricky because it moved all of my photos to a different place that gave me very little access, but that was easily taken care of by uninstalling the software and using the USB cable by itself.
The 10x zoom is great, but if you move at all your picture can be quite blurry. I would get a tripod to use when you have it zoomed really far in.
Overall it's a great camera that takes great pictures and good video.
Love The Camera, But LCD Screen Failed.......2007-03-07
I have a similar issue as another reviewer had... my Z740's LCD screen failed a few months ago. I turn on the camera and all the screen shows is solid white. The little eye-piece viewfinder still displays fine, and the pictures & videos still come out fine, but I can't use the lcd screen as my viewfinder any more... which was one of the biggest reasons I bought the camera...
Others online have had this problem, but I can't find anyone who has gotten it resolved. My camera is well out of warranty, so I have no hope of Kodak fixing it.
Otherwise though, it's a great camera... very impressive actually. I just wish it hadn't died after a year and a half of occasional use... :-(

The easy share dock is a great little device delivering everything promised. My one complaint, albeit minor, is that the entire "Easy Share" system of Kodak might be wonderful to someone new to digital photography. It would be very useful to that newbie in storing pictures with a PC to hard drive, CD or DVD, but I found the software's folder stucture contrary to the way I do things. "its way" isn't flexible enough to allow me to continue to do various picture tasks my way. After using EasyShare to download pictures from the camera via the dock, I always have to move files around to suit the way I've done things for several years. As to the dock, I'd recommend it to anyone. It's a nice unit.

My concern is the bag. Very uncorfortable when you are carrying the camera and the Tripod at the same time. The bag is for a small camera not for a slr, I have to detach the lens from my Nikon N60 because barely fit in there.
The tripod is very light, is easy to use and is worthy considering the price. But if you are looking for one more strong and steady this is not for you.

This is one of those on line item purchases that flies in the face of the conventional. This tripod combo meets the need with no extravagant bells and whistles. It is well designed and engineered from the weight of materials to the quite acceptable fit and finish for the price. I will actually smile incessantly using this combo.

I was amazed to see so many features put into this tripod. The product quality looks good too, but its base is not as strong as it should have been. When I need low shutter speeds, I always use a timer with this tripod. But it is quite effective and very good for the price it has been offered for.
I hate paying half its original price for shipping though!

This is a decent polarizing filter. The lens rotates to allow for you to adjust which light you dont want t appear in the shot. Works great for shooting fish in ponds or capturing people on the water at the beach.
One interesting problem I had is this is for my SOny Alpha. THe auto zoom feature of the camera rotates which throws on the the circular filter I just adjusted. Have to make all focus adjustments then adjust the filter ring.

Opteka specializes in manufacturing special optical devices for the past several years, would like to take this opportunity to introduce a newly developed product called the "HD² Infrared X-Ray Effect See-Through Multi-Coated Filter". This filter makes it possible for you to see images that are normally invisible to the human eye. It sounds like science-fiction but it isn't; this fantastic new product has been developed using the most highly advanced optical technologies available. This filter will filter out 99% of light seen by the naked eye only allowing infrared light through so that technically the naked eye can see 100% black when the filter is in place. Multi-coating prevents light reflection, ghost light...etc, making images clearer and sharper. On your digital camcorder, turn the "Nightshot" function on - the naked eye cannot pick up the high contrast black, so with the infrared filter and Nightshot combination, for example, it will help you see in the images provided, that we 'accidentally' spilt some permanent ink on this document and the text is now impossible to read. However, when we attached the filter to our Sony 'TR250PK' camcorder, the writing is clearly legible through the ink - thus the x-ray effect! The Opteka IR Filter is also able to see through some types of clothes, for example, thin clothes, tight clothes, sundresses, swimsuits, sunglasses, and so forth. Be aware that this means that you can see a person's body or underwear through the external garment. In other words, this filter allows you to "see through" someone's clothes. The filter screws into the stationary lens hood and acts to protect the lens. I had had a difficult time locating this product at the "big stores" and buying it online was just too easy. Get one if your actual lens cap doesn't fit well on your camera, it will save your lens in the long run.
