4 out of 5 stars Rule of thumb to learning how to use anything well, "Read the directions".......2006-08-17

Personally owning this camera for over 5 yrs, I would recommend it for everything, starting with beginner usage to small internet business work. Professional photographers will not brag about the photo quality because they generally spend alot more for that, but this camera offers up very clear resolution and color quality if you read the directions fully and familiarize yourself with the functions of its features. The software is an easyload cd, which the directions clearly identify how to load onto any computer. If you do not have a 95/98 Windows program installed on your computer, the Polaroid website offers easy backup support for adding it to XP and others. The Polaroid website also offers replacement software, serial cables etc.. Taking pictures, is a snap as long as your batteries are fully charged (especially during flash shots). The one con to the camera is the battery usage. A good recommendation, would be to also invest a small amount into the rechargeable camera batteries and use the ac adaptor chord when working with internet auction type photos. The Flashpath adaptor is an excellent plus feature, but there again familiarize yourself with the directions. Its batteries are much stronger and will last a very long time, however if the user begins to have difficulty uploading photos from the flashpath, the disc batteries should probably be replaced, and are easily found in the camera or watch dept of any store. With a little patience and the initiative to read the complete directions, the owner of this camera will get a lot of very happy smiling photos, for many years.

1 out of 5 stars slow and downright terrible.......2003-02-09

just let me name four things that make this camera the WORST in the world: 1.you would miss most of the great photographic opportunities because the flash has to recharge, and it takes FOREVER!!!! 2.how do you get, say, a natural history photograph at the zoo if it doesn't have a zoom lens!? don't be fooled by what ebay says about the lens, they are just trying to make money off you! 3.the SUPER fast shutter speed doesn't allow ANY dim light, whatsoever into the camera, if you even tried to take a picture in dim light the picture would just turn out BLACK! 4.the software is totally screwy (with some things) like the brightness system, you set it to a certain brightness, but you dont like it, so you keep tweaking the brightness and before long it is all white!

that is the end, but just remember one thing, this is the one camera that you don't want to buy!

1 out of 5 stars Made me want to rip my hair out.......2002-03-16

Ok, the camera takes great pictures. However, they're absolutely useless because the software that comes with the camera is terrible. Now I have a load of pictures that are just stuck in my camera. I cannot get them to come up on the PC no matter what I do, and I can't seem to figure out why. If you use anything other than windows 95, the Photomax software won't even work. Buying this camera was probably the biggest waste of money I've ever done.

3 out of 5 stars its nice but.......2002-01-30

very nice camera, but dont try to take pictures and expect to look good enlarged to to the 640x680 pics, also had a problems with shuting off and uploading images, seems to be problems with this camera. other than that not bad for the price.

5 out of 5 stars Polaroid PhotoMax PDC-640 FL Kit is a GREAT VALUE!.......2001-11-30

This is a lot of camera for small bucks! If I had an internet business or was a professional photographer, I would go for more camera, but for family fun, hobby photos, sharing with friends and first cameras for beginners, this is just a super little camera. It is easy to use and a very complete kit. Since the flashpath floppy adaptor is included, that in itself is a great value (...). It is also lightweight and compact which makes it a perfect traveling camera.
