Size, however, is no measure of strength, as its slim, shiny exterior holds the power to achieve a surprisingly high level of image quality. This has been made possible through the incorporation of a powerful 4.13-megapixel 1/1.8-inch primary color CCD and advanced Pentax image processing technology. The Optio 430 also has a high-performance 3X zoom lens (equivalent to 37.5 - 112.5mm in 35mm format), which provides superb compositional versatility and has been reduced in size through the integration of two dual-sided aspherical elements and a redesigned lens barrel. This lens successfully combines impressively high image resolution with a low level of image distortion, and adds a further enhancement to the performance of this powerful compact camera. The Optio 430 even has its own alarm clock function. It can be set to display pictures relevant to your schedule at preset times, or to wake you in the morning with a favorite image. Several shooting modes are available for a variety of creative choices, such as standard and night scene. Movie mode records movie clips of up to 30 seconds at 15 frames per second in AVI format. You can add filters such as sepia, monochrome, and other colors for added style. The 3-D image mode gives photos a sense of depth and perspective when viewed with the included 3-D viewer.
A 16 MB CompactFlash card is included for memory storage. Control and keep track of all the camera's functions with the large 1.6-inch LCD monitor. There is also a video-out jack so you can watch your work on a television.
