Product Description
A long-time innovator in the consumer electronics market, Casio was the first to incorporate an LCD monitor in digital camera for viewing and composing images on-screen. Other Casio innovations have included the swiveling lens design, one of the first 3-megapixel cameras on the market, and extended photographic capabilities. Now Casio offers QV-2300Plus - a midrange 2.11-megapixel camera with a wide range of features designed to endear it to both novices and advanced amateurs alike. QV-2300Plus comes with 3x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom for a combined zoom factor of 12x. Combining the signature Casio swivel-lens design with extensive exposure controls and a wide range of "scene presets" for the average user, QV-2300Plus offers a strong feature set in an approachable package. The camera has built-in quartz digital clock, date and time recorded with image, and auto calendar up to 2049.Continuing Casio's practice of bundling the IBM "Microdrive" with their cameras, QV-2300Plus offers extraordinary image capacity at a surprisingly modest price. Take advantage of the latest disk drive technology by adding the IBM Microdrive to your Casio digital camera. 340MB Microdrive that weighs less than an AA battery, can hold up to 400 images in high resolution and 2054 in economy. The Microdrive's very small size and high performance make it ideally suited for applications needing portability and having high data/image requirements.
Amazon.com Product Description
Casio's QV2300 point-and-shoot digicam features a 2.11 megapixel sensor that captures enough detail for photo-quality prints at sizes up to 8 by 10 inches. Shots are stored on an IBM Microdrive, which is a matchbook-size 340 MB hard drive that holds over 400 images at maximum resolution. Sold separately, the Microdrive retails for several hundred dollars, so its inclusion in this package makes the Casio especially attractive.

Though the Microdrive is particularly noteworthy, the camera has a number of additional features worth mentioning. The lens has a 3x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom, allowing the photographer to bring faraway objects closer. Other features include a three-step aperture control, a four-mode automatic or manual white balance, as well as center-weighted and spot-exposure controls. To save on size, complexity, and price, Casio has not omitted the traditional optical viewfinder--all photos must be composed by viewing the 1.8-inch low-glare LCD monitor, which can also be used to review your photos.

5 out of 5 stars Love this Camera.......2001-07-30

Easy to use. Light weight. I'm very happy with this camera.

5 out of 5 stars endless picture-taking.......2001-06-26

This is an excellent digital camera: small, lightweight, easy to use, and packed with numerous preformatted settings for specific situations. For me however, its great virtue is the 340 MB memory card. I recently returned from an extended trip in Europe and this camera enabled me to log over 300 fine quality pictures without having to fiddle with and keep track of replacement cards. Better yet, upon returning home, I plugged the camera into the TV and was able to inflict an extended slide show on my loved ones.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Camera.......2001-06-19

Great camera, I'm not a pro, but so far it does everything I want it to. I was worried about the altitude limit on the microdrive (10,000). I live at 11,200 feet and have not had any problems.

4 out of 5 stars Be prepared for global parts sourcing.......2001-05-16

All vendor descriptions as well as the Casio web site said it comes with a remote control, but when I got the box, lo and behold there was no remote. Casio politely informed me that the web site was a mistake. They were however not able to tell me whether it comes with a remote that I could buy separately. I finally discovered, after studying the serial communications protocol of the 2300 and 2800UX, that the remote that comes with the 2800 (WR-1C) works with the 2300. But then, more surprises - the WR-1C is not available in the US - I had to get it from Japan.

You are supposed to be able to use standard 43 mm lenses and filters by attaching the LU-8A adapter to the camera. But wait! This part too is not available in the US - I had to get it from Japan.

Anyhow, the pictures I get from the camera are great! I just wish the movie mode had been of a higher resolution and/or a higher fps. That would have left little to be desired in this fantastic package.

4 out of 5 stars Awesome Jewel.......2001-05-14

The gargantuam capacity of the IBM Microdrive makes this sufficient reason to get this camera. Fortunately, the camera is also surprisingly very portable and takes excellent quality pictures. All the thoughtful unexpected features of the camera are very much appreciated ie: photo management via the use of folders per day. The anticipated battery problem was alleviated with the purchase of the Casio battery charger/AC adapter and some rechargeable batteries. I'm totally happy with this purchase.
