I bought this webcam years ago, and I've since used many other webcams, but the Kodak DVC325 is still my favorite to-date. I did have a problem installing driver for one of my computers. I have a valuable story (and some pointers too) about it to tell you.

I started using it many years ago (2000, 2001? - if my memory serves) under Windows 98 with the driver and software that came with the camera. No problem whatsoever. My computer was a desktop, a Pentium III 450MHz. When WinXP came out, I upgraded the computer to WinXP and download the driver from Kodak. 'dd0764.exe' was the exact filename. Still no problem.

I then had a laptop. It was an AMD Athlon XP QuantiSpeed 2500. It ran Windows XP Home Edition. Driver from Kodak.com worked well. No problem here either.

In the beginning of 2006. I had a new desktop, Pentium IV 3.2GHz, socket 478, motherboard ASUS P4S800D-X. 'dd0764.exe' no longer works. It freezes the computer when installing the driver exactly as the person below me describes. I googled and was disappointed to find out, many people had the same problem with this particular combination of hardware + Windows XP.

Almost 1.5 years later (now!), I was frustrated with my other webcams. I tried again (same computer system). Still froze when installing driver. But then I found a different driver for it on Driverguide.com. The filename was 'dvc325w2k.zip'. Download it, folks. Unzip it to a folder. Remove all previously installed DVC325 drivers and software (if applicable). Plug the camera in. You'll see a '?' in Device Manager for it. Right click and choose 'Update Driver'. Manually search, blah blah blah... browse to the folder you had unzip the files to.

Okay. The image quality is great. Clarity, resolution, colors, exposure control, etc. beats many webcams today.

Give it another shot.

Does NOT Work with XP.......2007-01-07

This camera absolutely does NOT work with XP.

I downloaded the driver, extracted to C:\DVC325, ran setup.
Plugged in camera, hit continue on the xp driver-not-digitially-signed dialog, and when it got 99% through the progress bar of copying drivers, hard froze my computer. I tried this on all usb ports, multiple times, all resulting in having to hold the power button to recycle the computer.

On one instance, it even locked it such that I had to physically remove the power (I am not sure how they froze the bios routine that polls the power switch, but they did)

I have had one of these for a few years now. I even bought a friend one. It still gives me a quality picture and hooks and works well. The Kodak site is only a click away for the driver downloads too!

End the rumors - it works on XP.......2005-06-03

Let's end the rumors. This digital camera DOES work on XP and if you can't get it to work, try calling your computer support or 1-800-950-GEEK. This camera works extremely well and has a fantastic view quality. My husband is in Afghanistan and it works perfectly!

Does not work with Windows XP.......2004-08-05

I read countless web sites describing how to install this camera on Windows XP and followed every one of them. Even though XP recognizes that there is a device there, it does not work. You get a blank screen. Kodak blames the motherboard. The motherboard company blames Kodak. When I plug it into a Win2000 box, presto, perfectly working camera. I have read other reviews that say they got it to work with XP, but many more that had problems. If you run Windows XP, you are taking a gamble buying this camera.
