Customer Reviews:
HP Deskjet 6940 - Excellent Value.......2007-06-27
Excellent value for around $125. Multiple quality settings. "Best" quality more than suitable for professional business proposals, etc. Black & color cartridges, easy to install. Reliable - Daily use for 2 months and have not yet experienced a paper jam. Recommended!
Not good printer.......2007-06-08
Not a good printer. It boasts high speeds, but at high speeds the print is shadowed and very hard to read. I sent this one back and got a Canon MP600 and am very happy with it.
Excellent Quality.......2007-05-17
I have had a number of HP deskjets over the years...this one lives up to the excellent quality HP is known for. Black text prints super-fast, and colors are vibrant. I printed a black and white photo using HP Premium Plus Photo paper, and a photographer friend upon seeing it, asked when I had gotten a darkroom. Highly recommend this product.
Excellent Printer.......2007-05-12
I would highly recommend this printer. Pages are printed quick with great clarity. The price is definitely right as well.
Beware the paper tray and wonky network setup for Mac.......2007-04-11
I just finished setting this guy up. It took about an hour and, as with so many devices these days, the boxed instructions were no help. I think it bears saying that I'm a Mac user, and have been for going on 20 years now. Manufacturers are really out of excuses for not having any Mac specific support on their devices, especially ones that proudly trumpet their Mac support right on the box.
Having said that, I spent the majority of time trying to get the printer to see the network, the Macs to see the printer and the printer to see the paper. Unless the tray is absolutely packed with paper--begging for a jam--then the printer balks at any printing.
Thank goodness for Apple's Bonjour, which allowed me to see the printer despite HP's software ultimately failing to be helpful.
After the setup nightmare, which really isn't any big deal when compared to most any printer you buy that isn't an Epson, the print quality is good and fast. I'd love this printer more if the setup weren't so mysterious. Ethernet is a nice feature at this price point, too. Good product, poor execution.

Customer Reviews:
I love this camera.......2007-07-03
I take about 1500 pictures a year, and previously used a Canon PowerShot S400 4MP - which was a great camera: easy to use, very portable, and took great photos. I started doing some digital editing of my photos (photoshop) and found that I needed more than 4 MegaPixels. So, I looked at the latest Canon and found that the 7MP PowerShot was the same price as HP's 10MP camera. Hmmm, tempting, they seemed to match each other in size and function, but HP seemed to edge it in a few funtions and 50% more pixels! ... so I gambled on HP.
My first concern was that HP would not take as good photos as Canon. Well, I was wrong on that. HP takes great photos ... and has this great feature called "adaptive lighting" that automatically brightens pictures taken in dim light. Wowzers! That's an amazing function. You can watch on the crystal clear 3" display as your dull photo is automatically transformed into a great photo a second or two after you've taken it. Wow!
My second concern was that it would not have the full range of features that I was used to on my Canon Powershot- panorama stitching, zoom, close-up, etc. Well, I was even more wrong on that. This camera is *packed* full of features:
-Firstly, it has an excellent user interface that's really easy to use. The clear on-screen menu is easy to navigate and explains how to get the most of each function as you go, and is also very quick to navigate.
-Secondly, it has instant red-eye removal (that really works) - I've now taken about 900 photos with my HP and I'd estimate maybe 1 or 2 red-eyes have crept by, all other have been removed automatically. I'm impressed.
-Thirdly, it has a ton of other funtions my Canon didn't have -- e.g. burst mode, auto-settings for different lighting situations, etc -- and a beautiful 3" screen that's the clearest I've seen.
I've owned this camera for about 7 months and it's a delight. There are a few things that can be improved, e.g. travel recharging without needing to carry the dock with you, button placement to prevent occassionally accidentally pushing on-off ... there's always something ... but these are really minor compared to the excellent picture quality and great features included.
If you're like I was and wondering if you should gamble on HP, go for it. I'm not looking back!
Amazing .......2007-06-22
I absolutely love my camera. It does everything it says (by the manufacturer), and it does it without hassle.
This camera:
-is very easy to use
-is sleek in design
-is handy
-takes amazing pictures
-takes high quality pictures
-has a sufficient battery life
-has many features
-**and the list goes on
I have many HP products (my laptop, desktop, two digital cameras, two photo/copier/fax/scanner printers, Pocket PC) and I am always satisfied. This camera has not ever let me down (I've owned it for a few months now). I have had many compliments on the camera and the features and pictures it takes. I would most definitely recommend this camera to anyone.
Buy with confidence!!!
Just Great!.......2007-05-31
The Camera is excelent ! I mean, pics look amazing ! (haha, I'm not a expert ). The only thing that I don't like about it, it is that almost need flash in every pic...anyway, it is a great product. Ahhh, and if you want to take photos to your lil kids, it is too slow for that XD !
HP Photosmart R967 10MP .......2007-05-14
It's an excellent camara, I'll recommended, you can get a lot of it, but you should buy a SD to get better results.
10 MP! Great viewing screen.......2007-03-16
I've had the R967 camera for three months. I bought it because 1)I've always had great service from HP, and 2) I wanted more resolution than the 5MP camera I was using.
The camera is a stainless steel box, and has a very sturdy feel. On/off is easy and the 3" focus/viewing screen is nice. There are a myriad of features on this camera, including adaptive low-light shooting and the ever-popular "slimming" feature. I've used the low-light feature, and it worked quite well (sample size=1 LOL)..
A few observations: in low light I had trouble getting the "macro" feature to focus, the document feature is great, who needs a scanner? great resolution, excellent pictures, I'm not wild about the feature buttons on top of the camera.. I've hit one or more by accident.
Over all I'm quite pleased with the camera and I recommend it.

HP Photosmart carrying case for Compact photo printers
Customer Reviews:
Neat, well made & surprisingly large amount of storage space.......2007-03-01
I bought this case for an HP Photosmart A516 printer and it's absolutely ideal for this printer and the other HP printers of the same dimensions. Although the case looks small and sleek when closed, it actually has space for a surprisingly large amount of 'stuff' - Obviously the main compartment holds the printer itself, but there are various other useful slots and spaces to pop your AC and USB cables, the battery, a pack of paper and a few other small items you might want to carry. The bag also has light padding throughout which adds a certain amount of protection from bumps, and a sturdy, quite comfortable shoulder strap. A well designed bag all round, IMHO.
Tight fit for the 475.......2006-05-11
I own the HP 475 and since it's slightly larger then the rest, the printer barely fits in the case. It does fit but it is very tight. I would not recommend this for the 475. Probably I shouldn't have bought this but I really liked the case.

Customer Reviews:
A fairly decent bundle for a beginner........2007-05-02
About a year ago I was looking for a camera/printer bundle because I was interested in taking/printing pictures to make scrapbooks. I had owned a couple digital cameras before this one but figured I might as well buy a new one since printers alone are so much money. If I was spending money on a printer, I might as well get a new camera to go with it. ESPECIALLY if it would cost me next to nothing to get the camera. So I found this bundle on Amazon. I noted that it had 5 megapixels and 3x optical zoom which is pretty darn good. And HP is a decent brand. So I went ahead and bought it.
Now for my review of the camera. Let me first start off by saying that I'm not a camera expert by any means. However, I do know what I want my pictures to look like and I do know that there ARE cameras out there that can take really good pictures (I know this because the camera that I'm currently using is one of those cameras). One thing that I didn't want is a camera that takes a while to process after taking a picture. Not only does this camera take a while to process pictures, but if you move even slightly within 5 seconds after taking a picture, the picture comes out blurry. This is extremely inconvenient if you need to take several pictures in a row very quickly or if you want to take a picture of someone in movement or if your subject is jumpy (I know this because my cousin owns this camera as well and has trouble taking pictures of her 8 month old daughter). Also, the brightness doesn't always show what the true brightness is. I know how to use the flash and I understand what ISO settings are so I don't think that I'm the problem. I've taken plenty of pictures using other cameras and haven't had this problem. As far as the options on the camera, they are decent. You can play around with different settings to alter your photos (like changing the picture to black and white or sepia). These options are a little bonus.
The screen is a good size. No problems there whatsoever. The internal memory is typical. Most cameras can only hold a handful of pictures so an SD card is a necessary purchase.
As for the printer, I don't have any real problems with it. I'll admit that I've only used it with the few photo papers that came with the printer. The pictures that I DID print came out looking like pictures that you get developed. So if it's easier for you to use this printer instead of going to a drugstore to get them developed, this printer is a great option. The picture looks exactly like how it was taken. Nothing was cropped out of the original picture. The printing time isn't too long so if you want to print multiple pictures at once, time is not a huge problem. One thing that I did like about the printer is that you can dock the camera on it. Not only does docking charge the camera (let's face it, camera batteries die pretty often), but it also lets you review the pictures you took. This is pretty handy if you don't have a computer around.
So would I recommend this bundle? If this is your first digital camera and you're ok with a) having pictures with incorrect brightness and b) having to play with the camera a bit to get a good picture, go for it. I think it's a great bundle if you're scrapbooking and don't necessarily need to get "the perfect shot". Or if you're purchasing this just for the printer, that's a great idea too. However, if you've owned a digital camera before and want accurate pictures, I'd skip on this bundle. I have a Sony DSC-H2 and it works wonderfully (no playing around with the camera to get a good shot... just press the shutter and you've got a good picture). You truly get what you pay for. I'd suggest testing out cameras at a store before buying one.. If I had tested this one at a store, I would have passed on it hands down.
Very good for the money.......2007-03-16
I've had the camera for over a year, and taken several thousand pictures with it. It's pretty darn good overall. I've been pleased with the image quality, especially for scenery shots. It does fall somewhat short with portraits of people in many cases, though. Easy to use. Minor durability problems.
A good deal, a fair camera.......2007-02-13
I had to have the camera replaced by HP because it never really would stay "on" for more than a few shots. The process was so bad, I'll never by another HP camera. The printer is the older series, using #95 cortridges, so they are not waterproof. But it prints just fine.
Easy to use.......2007-02-13
Gave this to the in-laws for Cristmas and they were taking pictures the next time we went to visit. Definitely buy additional memory, the internal memory is really more of a back-up.
A nice, handy camera.......2007-02-11
This camera works great. And the batteries last quite awhile too. Good quality pictures. A good deal for the price.

HP Photosmart R717 digital Camera.......2007-03-09
This is my first digital camera. Previous to my purchase of this item, I had no knowledge of digital cameras at all but, after reading the manual and with a little practice, I was able to take fairly decent pictures and understand and utilize the various features of the camera. I purchased a 512 MB chip and was able to transfer the images to my computer with ease.
Thanks to the reviewers before me........2007-02-14
I bought this camera due to the great reveiws on Amazon. This is my first digital camera. I've been very impressed with the shots it takes, and with the ease it is to operate it. The on-screen guide is very helpful, especially since I consider myself "low-tech". So, really, "my" 5 stars goes to both the camera, and all those who reviewed it before the end of 2006.
great camera, but delayed shots.......2007-01-25
I love this camera, but a few seconds delay with clicking the shutter means I miss nearly all the quick smiles of my baby. Other than that, this is a nearly perfect camera. Perfect size, great shots, rechargable battery, nice LCD....great!
HP Photosmart Camera.......2007-01-16
Love this camera - I used it as lot in the last few weeks and I am pleased
in every aspect. Good size, easy to use, great pictures-
R717 Camera a Replacement for R707.......2007-01-05
The reason I purchased this camera is that I already owned an HP R707 camera. The On/Off switch broke on the R707 and that left me with a lot of useless accessories. It was cheaper to purchase the R717 at Amazon than to have HP repair the R707. The pictures have been good so far, however I keep looking for the On/Off switch to break on this camera. If that happens I will buy something else.

Not a very good camera.......2007-06-02
I have had this camera since December of 2005.But i got i with the printer too.The printer is very good. But more can be said for the camera. For a few reasons The battery life is very poor.Like it can probley last you 30 mins at the most. And some times if you take a lot of pictures you can use them from the camera. And it will say photo can not be found. And sometimes whene you turn the camera on the screen will be off.And the screen is kind of bleek and dark and blurry too.And the video quality is horrible. And when you are taking a video with the camer the videos are very blurry and poor. And when you take a video you can look at the video on the camera but you CAN NOT HEAR THE SOUND.You have to have a computer to here the sound. And my grandpa has a canon and you can watch the video and hear the sound on the camera too!!!!!And in my opinon HP makes better computers then cameras. Thanks.
camera has many flaws.......2007-05-07
I purchased this camera 1 year ago, and I was so disappointed in the performance. The battery life is terrible, I took it to our town's Christmas Parade, and all the pictures are grainy and really poor quality. I posted some so you can see, also when you take a picture you can not take a picture for another good ten seconds. I had a two foot away shot of the rapper Nelly, and the camera didn't take the shot, and I only caught a shot of his tattoo on his arm! Save your money and get a better camera, like the Canon A630 the same price and much better quality, the battery life is fantastic and the night shots are great too. The shutter speed is much better too. I now have my HP in the closet because when I tried to use it on Thanksgiving the zoom would no longer zoom, and the lense does not retract. The only way I can turn off the power is too take out the batteries! I never dropped it or mistreated my camera, it is just not a good quality camera.
One of the better cameras.......2007-01-04
I've used several digital cameras in the past and this one is my favorite. It has the fewest number of confusing buttons (especially no awkward, symbol-laden dial around the on/off button) and most of the menus are pretty self explanatory. Its highly compact and very durable-- I took mine on a cross-country trip through the middle of the desert. And, of course, it has the best picture quality of all the cameras I've used. Admittedly, it is hard to get pictures in low light (the shutter has to remain open for a while to capture enough photons, resulting in a blurry picture if you hold it in your hands), but this camera does have a hole in the bottom for a screw-in tripod for stabilization.
Plus, its one of the cheaper brands out there. Best bet for my money.
The camera with a glass chin!.......2006-11-29
While I agree with others that this camera takes some pretty nice pictures and is easy to use, I've had the same problems as many have noted here. For starters, the thing eats through batteries like there's no tomorrow. I was lucky to get 20 pictures before the batteries crapped out. My biggest problem, however came when my son was handing the camera over to me at the dinner table and it slipped out of his hand. The camera literally fell only 10-12 inches to the table, but that was enough to render this camera permanently inoperable. Be warned: if you are a little bit clumsy or have butter-fingers, think twice before buying this camera! Red-eye reduction is also a bit of a joke with this one.
Sloooooow flash recharge.......2006-11-24
Like everyone else has said, this camera takes great pictures, but it can take a very long time for it to recharge its flash. It is very inconvenient when you are trying to take a cadid shot. If you have a large group posing for a picture and you don't like the first one, they all have to wait about 10 seconds for the flash to recharge before you can take another.

Customer Reviews:
Nice camera (when it works!).......2007-04-01
I've spent a small fortune on batteries for this camera and tried new and rechargeable batteries. It's gotten progressively worse and now (after 2 years) the camera turns on only occasionally and even then only when it's plugged into the battery charger. It's a shame because it's a nice camera when it's operating.
Don't waste your money. Now I have to buy a new camera. You can bet it won't be an HP.
Hunk of Junk - eats batteries, short warranty.......2007-02-25
We wanted a smallish idiotproof camera b/c one person in the family was a bit intimidated by our Canon's many options. The HP was reasonably priced and seemed to fit the bill, but was a big mistake.
The first set of photos, indoor, came out really poor and yellow-ish. After that every time we tried to use it it was dead - it seemed to eat batteries (freshly charged rechargeables) just from sitting around for a week or two. We'd open the little door, but no red light. When we put freshly-charged OR new alkaline AA batteries in it and tried to use it immediately it worked only occasionally - it would take proably 3-4 battery swaps to actually work. These are the SAME rechargeable batteries we use in the Canon and in other devices, with NO problems.
All in all we've used it THREE times in almost a year - the initial set of yellow-ish shots, a few outdoor shots that worked ok, and a few indoor ones that were also ok.
Today we decided to check on warranty repair since it's almost one year old, and guess what, it has only a 90 day warranty! Hmmm...it's not too hard to figure out that HP didn't put much faith in this camera.
On the positive side, when it worked it did work easily, and it was easy to download the photos onto our Macs. Unfortunately, "when it worked" is the important phrase here - it seldom worked, and after seeing other reviews with similar battery problems, it doesn't seem that ours is unique. Too bad we didn't get smart and read the reviews before buying it!
We're going to get another Canon and the non-tecchie in the family can just set it at auto and leave it there.
Work well but very picky about batteries.......2007-01-07
I read all the negative user opinions on the web only AFTER I bought this model. There are definitely issues regarding draining batteries and inability to turn this unit ON. Here is my experience and I hope it would be helpful.
Alkaline batteries - Forget them. You'll likely only get 5-7 shots from them.
Rechargeable batteries - I already had numerous Ni-MH batteries (hi capacity 2000-2500 mAh) at home so I grabbed a pair of Rayovacs out of a recharger base (where I stored them) and popped them in the camera. When I turned on the camera the display said "batteries too low to take pictures". So I grabbed a different pair made by Sony from their charger and they worked without any problems. In fact, they lasted a whole day of picture taking and video shooting with plenty of juice to spare. I have done some research and experimentation (mixing and matching my batteries with different chargers) since that first day and truly believe the problems others have reported are related to the batteries used. To avoid problems, you'll need high capacity Ni-MH rated over 2000mAh. But more importantly, you MUST have a good (smart) recharger that has built-in circuitry to properly monitor the condition of the battery and charge the batteries at the proper rate in order to top them off and then turn itself off at the correct time. Also, a good charger can trickle charge batteries stored in it for a long time. A cheap charger will either overcharge the batteries or allow them to drain (either way, the batteries will weaken over time). Avoid the quick 15 minute chargers as most of these only charge the batteries partially to 85% (as they say: there is no free lunch). And finally, keep this in mind: alkalines are rated 1.5V while Ni-MH are only 1.2V. If you have Ni-MH batteries that are partially charged or worn out, or not recharged optimally by a good charging base, you would be putting in a set of batteries measuring well under 1.2V and far below the 1.5V the camera is expecting. To think of it another way, if you put depleted alkalines into the camera, do you really expect the camera to work?
My other digital cameras share the same Rayovacs without problems. It seems the HP is just very sensative to the level of battery charge and is highly likely to report an error when the voltage is low, which is too bad for I think it's a decent camera for the price. I also updated to the new firmware available on the HP website. This does not solve the powering up problem or the pickiness with the batteries, but seemed to have reduced the power consumption.
Hopefully my review will have helped others who are frustrated with their experience with this model.
I love my camera!.......2006-11-24
I have had my camera for about a year now! You can't use regular old AA batteries, you have to spend the extra few dollars and get the energizer lithium batteries. Then you can get about 100 pictures from the batteries. I have dropped my camera a million times, and it still works perfectly. The camera I purchased before this one was a kodak easyshare, and it was horrible, it just shut off ALL THE TIME. So I am happy I picked a good camera the second time around! Also you can get cheap SD cards from amazon, try searching for them. They are usually like 80% off =) Not a bad deal.
Good Camera , no doubt!!!!.......2006-09-16
i was scared this was my greatest mistake, since i bought the camera locally and came to amazon just to read the reviews aftewards.
if you use the right battery there is no problem. i have been taking lots of photos with flash for the whole week with and still going....
go ahead, buy it.

Nice printer and camera.......2007-01-13
I bought this for my daughter (8 yrs old) and she loves it. Great printer and camera for the money. Takes good pictures and is easy to use. Printer is fairly quick too. Be sure to buy some rechargeable batteries because the camera will use up regular batteries pretty quick. I bought the duracell 15 minute charger with four 2400mpa batteries and they are great!
Photosmart Review.......2007-01-13
This item did not work correctly. The photo docking station was supposed to charge the camera, but did not. It took fine pictures in the 5 minutes that it would hold a charge. It had to be returned and was more trouble than it was worth.

it was a gift to my daughter, from what i've been told it was a great gift and very ;much appreciated.

Customer Reviews:
Would be okay for someone's first, only out of ignorance........2007-02-19
I've had this camera for almost two years, despite what others have said I've found it a somewhat tough camera physically.
Ok now to the long list of problems;
It has horrible motion capture, pictures often come out with a mild funhouse mirror warp effect, is utterly worthless in less than direct-sunlight and finally its far far to reliant on its flash. Also having to reset everything everytime you turn it on is a major annoyance. I've taken many pictures with it on many trips reaffirming its faults and still, If not for being a receipt-less present I would have returned it long ago.
I made a huge mistake when I bought this camera.......2006-05-06
I had a Pentax Optio 4 MP camera that I LOVED. Unfortunately I was careless and dropped it in water. In searching for a replacement, I saw that this camera was considered to be just as good and it was considerably cheaper. I figured since I was going to be careless with my camerea maybe I should buy the cheaper one, especially if it was supposed to be as good. What a MISTAKE. First off, this camera is a little bit bigger both in depth and width than the Optio. It just doesn't have the same sleekness. Secondly, the picture quality is definitely not as good. Every other picture I take is out of focus. I just want a simple point and shoot camera, one that can focus without having to mess with things...this isn't doing the trick. Now its been doing this weird thing where every picture I take has lines running through it (looks almost like the picture is ribbed). Its VERY annoying. I have such buyers remorse. I really wish I hadn't have tried to save money and had just bought the Optio. There's nothing positive I can say about this camera.
Disappointing software and support.......2006-04-11
We got this camera as a gift. We have gone round and round with HP tech support and still have not managed to install the camera software into our computer. (We own other brands of digital cameras, all installed without a hitch.)
First of all, the HP software is 170 Mega-bytes large. Talk about bloat-ware! Why does it take such a huge program to manage a camera?
Secondly, HP knows about the software problem. A "fix" is posted on HP.com. After downloading all 170MB of it, it still failed to install. We contacted HP tech support through chat sessions, their suggestions all failed. HP send us an upgraded CD, it still halts on an error during install.
Lest you think we have a weird, off-brand computer, this is an HP Pavilion ZE4125 laptop.
It has been a thoroughly frustrating and disappointing experience.
Excellent camera for it's price and size!.......2006-01-19
This was my first camera I've owned and I wanted one to take pictures of my friends at school as well as scenery. Due to the camera's compact size I can carry with me everywhere I go. It has many options but I usually keep it on auto and I get great results. The main standout point for me was the HP Adaptive Light Tech. feature. It is made to bring faces out of shadows and details out of backgrounds which makes the picture look 100 times better. I put one of my images of Lake Dixon in the customer images section if you want to see just how good these pictures turn out. If your thinking of buying a camera at a reasonable price, one you can take anywhere, and still take great pictures, this is the camera for you! I love it!
Good and Bad.......2005-12-31
I have owned an R607 for a few months now. (I purchased one of the limited edition 'Gwen Stefani - Harajuku Lovers' cameras, but that doesn't make much of a difference) I'm very pleased with it but there are a few things that miff me.
For one, even in medium light, sometimes it will take very long to take a picture if you're not using flash. Sometimes you have to hold your hand/arm/body very, very still - usually someone would buy a tripod for this, but it even happens when simply doing a quick shot of a few friends on an outing or something. I practice holding my breath and keeping very still when taking pictures with this camera. (And sometimes it's awkward when someone poses for the camera and they have to stay still for 10-15 or even 20 seconds.)
The audio quality of the video mode is absolutely horrible. All you hear is loud static. It's very hard to capture any sound at all and when you do it's nearly drowned out by the static.
But there are many good things about this camera as well. First of all, the design. Although it has a small screen, it's no big deal. It's tiny enough to take anywhere with you but not fragile.
There are different macro settings which can produce gorgeous pictures with lots of detail. It has 'Image Advice' - a little notification thing that pops up every once in a while to tell you how you might improve a picture.
There are many different modes - sunset, portrait, beach, snow... there's even a panoramic mode that allows you to take large, wide pictures of landscapes or other things like that. It has different colours; B&W and Sepia. You can adjust the hue and sharpness and exposure and all sorts of things. There is red-eye removal right on the menu and an automatic printing function - select the number of prints you want on your camera and hook it up to a special HP printer and you get professional pictures right from your camera.
It has an InstantShare feature as well, which, when set up, allows you to send your pictures off to different people on your contact list immediately when you hook up your camera to your computer.
So, for what it is, it's a spectacular camera - if you can settle with it's drawbacks. A tiny screen isn't much of a deal, right? I thoroughly enjoy using this camera and I'm going to continue using it for a long time to come.
