MiniDV HD cassettes.......2007-06-08

Pricier than their cousins, the Standard MiniDv Cassettes, the one's listed out here on Amazon are almost 50% cheaper than the same ones (exactly the same, brand, etc) that I've found at the local photography store. The box stores don't carry them with frequency...not enough HD cameras in the hands of the public yet...I'm sure availability will change soon though with more HiDef hardware being purchased.

You have to use them in the HD camera's or you'll void the warranty. You'll also gum up the heads of the more sensistive prouser cameras which means poor quality images and possibly ruining the heads themselves.

I just bought a new Canon XHA1 and it's worth the investment to use the HD cassettes.

In fact, I'm going to order more right now.

You don't need to pay extra for you MiniDV videotapes. The cheapest brand of tape will work as good as the most expensive because it is all digital. And having a digital camera is like having Electrolytes on your drink,it makes it all better. Buy the much cheaper TDK MiniDVs and buy yourself a nice microphone with the money you saved.

Not going to elaborate too much here. Great tapes at a great price. These tapes sell for over $35 at local Best Buy or Circuit City stores. For $20, this is a great deal! Use with my Canon HV10 camcorder. Stock up!

This memory card seems to be working good in my LG VX8100 phone, and I have also tried it in my digital camera using the SD adapter. If you want to buy a card reader for your computer, DO NOT BUY THE Kingston TravelLite SD/MMC Reader ( FCR-HS2MMC/SD ) by Kingston Technology. I have had nothing but problems--computer does not see the memory card in the reader, the reader has caused pics to be deleted, and I had to reformat the card. It never really read the files at all on the computer.

I recently purchased this item to use with my Motorola MPx220, and it works great. Only slide it in and that's it. Now I don't have to carry an MP3 player cause my cell is loaded with tons of music and I can also storage a lot of programs, pictures and stuff. And with the SD adapter I can even stick it in the car stereo and listen to my music. The best of all is that I got a great deal for it.

Purchased a Sandisk 512mb Micro-disc for my new LG CU500 phone. Considered the 1 gig chip, but felt the 512 to be more than adequate for my needs. Have stored roughly (120) downloaded songs from my home computer, as well as about (55) pics, and remaining storage space still sits at nearly 50%! This product is really good. I have had it for about 8 months all ready and so far it works perfectly every time. It's speed is really good. You might not get the full 1GM memory that it claims but you still get almost all that memory. It's just that you have to program it, but it still gives you lots of memory. Its really easy to save items as easy as clicking and dragging the item to the GB file. Deleting is just as easy.

I recommend this product, it's easy to use.

good camera for the price.......2007-02-07

this camera takes good pictures out of doors & with a flash or bright lites could take pretty good indoor pics, I think-----batteries can be removed after snapping pics without losing images, in order to save battery life----pics are still bright & clear when enlarged-----main problem is the same as with most cheaper cameras of any type: the view finder is not in same position as the actual lens, so resulting pic is slightly different than what you see (or significantly different for close ups), so you have to adjust & experiment a little. I found instruction booklet somewhat confusing.--------but pretty versatile, all in all-----definately not a rip-off, for the casual phtographer

A wonderful camera is now a super bargain.

I, too, experienced the broken shutter button (mentioned by others) just before 1yr warranty. I got return auth from 1-800...and soon received repaired unit back in usps priority box. the button failed again, later--out of warranty. so I found the secret scrows and taking the neat 3 layer case open...it was easy to repair. Finally the switch-circuit-board connection gave way. The unit still works... as a pencam and retains 24 pics even w/o batts.

I bought a 3.1 mpix digital brand w vga color screen/view finder (walmart again 59$ plus a 20$ chip to retain time-date and pics during batt change...
it's a nice unit but I'm still unable to get time-date memory to sustain...and the vga display is really an impractical batt hog.

SO--I started shopping, reading the other reviews and anticipated the 39$ MINICAM Replacement ...(I had paid 59 at walmart).

Then, after finding the AIPTEK manufacturer's discouraging ad that the minicam was "not available at this moment" I ordered a couple larger 1.3 models with free caps, dolls and cases and a vga model at 9$...

next day I found 2FIDELITY.COM a subsidiary of aiptek had my mini pencam at the new 19$ price (9$ refurbished)...I ordered a new one and all 4 cameras came quickly in 3-4 days...I like all of the aiptek models for their good battery use...1.3 mp resolution. The mini pen cam is my favorite. It has the best design and good looks. The shutter button, however, should be a durable spdt switch attached to the case-not c-board-and the time-date stamp would make it a perfect camera. They might boost resolution to 2mp. More is useless, takes longer to transfer and wastes memory.

Secret to good pixs is steady hand and good software...try polaroid photomax. The flash attachment is unnecessary and wastes batts...some minicam pix are dark-but photomax' one step correction with enlargement and cropping produces excellent results on lexmark x3350 scanner-printer. The stand-alone printer makes beautiful copies of color photos...has its own usb port to download the camera...serves well as a photo copier b/w and color for 69$ (walmart) you only need the computer to edit w/photomax and email the results...

this good company can & should prosper it's sad to see AIPTEK subsidiary giving away the mini pencam...with a little more resolution, time-date memory (keep the LCD screen-no color displays) this model CAN survive. Who will pay $300+ for kodak features...when an improved UNIQUE MINI pencam justifies a $75-125 pricetag & a 2-yr warranty.

This may be more of an issue of wanting to get the right first digital camera for a youngster (a mature 8 yr. old). This is not the camera for this purpose. Image quality was poor. And the build is not ready for young boy energy. Furthermore, if you are lucky enough to find this out within the 15 day return grace period, you will still pay a 15% restocking fee (from Computerbrain.com). It was worth $7.50 to have it out of my life. I guess I'll just need to fork it over for something a bit more robust. This may be a fine camera for very limited applications like a stationary webcam.

its a gud lill product...........2005-10-09

I have two cams a logitech and a this one. Aiptek definately is the better one, its small and performs gud....i have had this webcam for 2 years now. It connects seamlessly with my PC and i never had any problems with it.

It not only very small it is also very rugged. I must have had dropped this camera atleast 20-25 times on hard wood floor but still it is going strong.

As a web cam i think it does a very gud job, indoors or outdoors with your laptop it does a good job. Although i dont expect a webcam to take great still photos but since they advertise it this way, i wud say it takes ABOVE AVERAGE Pics outdoors and does a bad job in less light. It's small camera/webcam n u can easily conceal in your palm.

It does have one major fault and that is stability, the stand that comes with the cam is small and its base is not adequately heavy. The USB cable that comes with the cam have a bulky node towards the side it connects to the camera, this makes camera tip over very often. u cant keep this camera upright on any slanting surface. Since i use this camera with my laptop while i am in my bed, small size and stability matters..............anyways, the base stand broke few months bk....i must admit i used this camera very roughly....now i have to sandwich this cam in between books or pillows on my bed.

If you want a camera for your desktop, i think this will be a good choice but i will not recommend this cam for laptop users.

Picture quality is comparable to other cam's in this price range.
Overall a gud small cam but not for laptop users.
