The CAMEDIA C-1 was created in response to the growing popularity of digital photography. Its user-friendly simplicity and portability make it a camera that people can take anywhere, and use anytime. The CAMEDIA C-1 automatically switches on when the lens barrier is opened. It boasts full-auto operation that allows users to obtain high-quality images simply by aiming the camera and pressing the shutter button, and the number of control buttons has been kept to a minimum to simplify operation as much as possible. The camera's body is slim, light and compact, and features a sliding, egg-shaped lens barrier that accents the cameras stylish design. The flat, protuberance-free body and sliding lens barrier also make it easy for users to carry the camera in their pocket or handbag, and take beautiful pictures at a moment's notice.Two aspherical glass lens elements are incorporated into the bright, F2.8 lens. As a result, the lens is extremely compact, yet it offers high resolving power that maximizes the performance potential of the camera's 1.31-megapixel CCD. In addition, users can obtain superior image quality even when shooting smaller-sized images for on-screen/Web display or transmission as e-mail attachments, because advanced TruePic technology ensures that the full range of pixel data is incorporated into all images, regardless of size. The CAMEDIA C-1 is equipped with a built-in LCD color monitor that can be used to view the subject when shooting, and to display images after they have been taken. Offering all the functions of its elder C-2020 Zoom digital camera, the Olympus C-2040 additionally provides the world's first Super Bright 1.8-2.6 3x Optical zoom lens which extends the flash working range for shooting at greater distances and in lower-light conditions. For greater flexibility, the CAMEDIA C-2040 Zoom features up to a 2.5x digital zoom and up to a 5x digital zoom in VGA mode. Helping to capture these images at a high-quality image resolution is the camera's 2.11 megapixel 1/2-inch RGB CCD. These images can then be transferred more quickly than in previous models due to the "Storage Class" USB design to instantly mount the camera to your USB Mac or Windows computer. As for power, the C-2040 Zoom can be used with CR-3V (LB-01) batteries as well as AA Ni-MH, alkaline, lithium or NiCd to provide a longer life battery capability.
