Product Description
Includes: USB & Video cables, 2 AA batteries, wrist strap, driver CD, & operating instructions. The Rollei dr5, is a stylish ultracompact model 5 five megapixel imager and D-Vario-Apogon branded 4.8x optical zoom lens. Scheduled to reach stores in March (with pricing as-yet unannounced), the dr5 offers both an optical viewfinder and 1.8" LCD display, ISO sensitivities up to 800, 3 metering modes, SD / MMC and 12MB built-in storage, as well as USB and video connectivity.

Thanks to its instant readiness, the Rollei dr5 is ideal for spontaneous candid shooting and capturing elusive subjects: It is ready to shoot in just 0.8 of a second. The camera's shutter lag is no more than 0.10 second.

Manual control options on the Rollei dr5 include exposure control either by programmed AE or compensated manually. In addition to automatic white balance, there are manual presets for sunlight, cloudy, tungsten and fluorescent. The built-in flash will automatically compensate output at close range and has red-eye-reduction auto and fill-flash modes as well as slow sync. The Rollei dr5 will also record brief video clips, complete with sound. Video and photos are stored either in the internal 12MB memory or on an SD or MultiMedia card. Since the camera also supports PictBridge - pictures can be directly printed on a suitable printer, without going through a computer. And if you just wish to view your pictures or edit them at a later date, simply connect the camera via its USB or video port to a computer or TV set. Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Excellent combination of performance and value.......2006-02-20

Small enough to carry in your pocket yet large enough to give you contol, 5 MP and most important the optical zoom (at 4.6x) is 50% stronger than the typical 3x in cameras this size and price. You can shoot by viewing the subject on the screen or thru the lense. Metal case with solid feel-you can feel the "German engineering" in your fingertips. Batteries last a long time. Sufficient features (like the close up mode that lets you get up to within inches of the subject) to keep the run of the mill camera user happy. Downloads to computer are very quick and easy. Use of lots of the functions can be figured out intuitively, without having to study the manual. Decent "movie" capacity. Negatives: software is not explained at all in the printed manual, and not very well in the CD manual, although once you figure it out, it works pretty well and has lots of flexibility. You will also want to buy a larger memory chip right off the bat, but JR has these cheap too. The view screen is kind of small, but otherwise works fine. All in all great performance for the price. I've used this camera for about 9 months and am pleased with the purchase. I previously used a cheap digital ($50), just to see if digital was for me, before that 35 mm film.
