Product Description

The ELPH LT 260 Advanced Photo System Camera strengthens Canon's existing line of ELPH-series cameras by providing many of the features offered by Canon's original ELPH camera. Its ultra-compact size and lightweight of 5.3 ounces makes it easy to carry, while maintaining the same stylish design that has made the ELPH-series cameras industry best sellers. The camera measures an impressive 3.7 (W) x 2.5 (H) x 1.2 (D) inches and is equipped with a 26-52mm f/4.2-6.7 (equivalent to 32.5-65mm with 35mm-format cameras) 2x aspherical zoom lens composed of six lenses in six groups. The ELPH LT 260's single-point active autofocus system is fast and accurate with an effective focusing range of approximately 18 inches to infinity. The Canon ELPH LT 260 incorporates a powerful built-in, multi-function flash unit with a flash range of 1.5-18.5 feet (wide angle) and 1.5-11.8 feet (telephoto) at ISO 200. The flash unit pops up and retracts as the camera's main switch is turned on and off, similar to the original ELPH model. The ELPH LT 260's flash system offers several modes, including Auto (with and without red-eye reduction), Flash ON, Flash OFF, and Slow-Synchro. The camera also incorporates all the basic features of the Advanced Photo System, including easy drop-in film loading, three shooting formats and built-in date and title functions. A core capability of the Advanced Photo System is Magnetic Information Exchange (IX), which enables the entire system - from cameras to photofinishing equipment - to share information. Utilizing this technology, the Canon ELPH LT records information for every exposed frame, including date, time, print aspect ratio, flash condition, lighting conditions, etc.

5 out of 5 stars Third Elph I've purchased.......2007-04-15

Great little camera, but does not have midroll rewind despite the description. I owned the Elph LT until it was stolen, and the Elph 370Z (which does have midroll rewind) for seven years of frequent use before the flash quit working. Was delighted to find this one new. Too bad APS cameras were discontinued.

5 out of 5 stars nice successor to original elph.......2007-03-14

This is a great little machine. Sturdier flash than original elph. Slightly larger. Plastic body instead of metal. Great pocket camera. Carry it everywhere and never miss a shot. APS prints best on "H",but the panoramic setting is fun. Like a Leica 111f, always ready, easy to carry fun.

4 out of 5 stars Canon Elph LT 260 Zoom APS Camera.......2007-01-09

I deliberately purchased an out-dated product to replace a similat camera that was stolen, as in some ways it is more flexible than my digital camera, and compements the other. I carry both with me at all times and use whichever is better suited for the particular shot I have in mind.

5 out of 5 stars Excelent camera for the price.......2006-12-24

I bought this camera May 2001 for about $150.00. 20,000 pictures and 6 years later, camera still works although the focus (clarity of pictures) has been lost a little. The camera was dropped many times and it never broke or lost quality for the first five years. $80 bucks for a new camera is a good investment. Highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome camera for the price.......2004-03-23

Like a lot of the other reviewers have said, this camera takes great pictures! Clear and crisp! And I'm the kinda person that takes pictures hanging out the car window and on the back of a 4 wheeler. It's as if I was standing still! It's so nice to be able to capture a panoramic picture whenever you want, and be able to switch back to regular sized photos with the touch of a button. And all on the same roll of film. So easy. I would highly recommend this camera! And with such a low price, you cant go wrong.

5 out of 5 stars The Best!.......2003-12-21

Even for people on a low budget this season, this is a great, fun, easy-to-use gift. I have owned one of these for almost 2 years now, and have found many ways to get exactly the picture I want. With three photo sizes that change in the viewer, one is always guaranteed to know approximately how thier photo will turn out. Though not particularly inexpenxive, the APS film system is reasonable, and the pictures turn out great! For a younger, or older, aspiring photographer, this is the camera to start with!

5 out of 5 stars great camera.......2003-12-16

i bought this camera right before a trip, and was a little nervous using a new camera. i was not disappointed, every picture came out crisp and clear. the size is great, so small you can easily put it in your pocket. the different settings are good too, especially the panoramic. film, batteries and developing may be a wee bit more, but it is definitely worth it. i've owned more expensive cameras that did not take pictures this well.

4 out of 5 stars Tiny but not a toy.......2003-06-10

This is a tiny camera (a good-sized guy could hide it in the palm of his hand.) But the small size doesn't mean the Elph is a toy. No, indeed.

The sharpness on the pictures is amazing considering that the negatives are smaller than 35mm and that this is not an expensive piece of optical equipment. (We used to speculate that Canon made the optics better on APS cameras to showcase the APS format in the best light.)

You can have some fun--one special feature is that you can take 3 different sizes of photos (regular sized, large sized and panorama sized) on the same roll of film. Switch a lever on the back and go from a portrait to capturing the beauty of a mountain vista or a busy plaza.

For a "keep it in your pocket at all times" camera, this can't be beat.

5 out of 5 stars Quality & Versatility.......2002-09-26

I got the ELPH before heading to JazzFest in New Orleans a year and a half ago so I wouldn't have to lug my 35mm rig around. Turns out, it isn't just inexpensive -- it's also a heckuva point-and-shoot camera. I was surprised by the quality of photos it produced. Sharp, clean...usually well-balanced flash (although it has its moments). It has some limitations, but photo enthusiasts will be able to figure them out pretty quickly. I even found a couple settings that allow me to be creative in low light settings in nightclubs.

It has become my everyday camera (football games, birthday parties, JazzFest), while my 35mm and medium-format are for more specific "shoot" purposes. So small it fits in a pocket; so light you forget you have it with you; so capable you'll wonder why you didn't get one sooner.

    Product Description

The ELPH LT270 is based on the concept of compactness, simplicity, and high quality. With its 2.7x zoom lens and very high cost performance resulting in a reasonable price, the ELPH LT270 is the high quality compact camera. The 2.7x zoom 24-65mm (135 format equivalent: 30-81mm) lens effectively corrects for various aberrations and gives high contrast by optimally placing the aspherical lens element resulting in excellent image quality throughout the zoom range. The extremely compact, lightweight body continues the basic "box and circle" design concept resulting in a dignified, yet casual new generation design. The large, bright, clear viewfinder and large display panel make operation simple and easy. The ELPH LT270 has a full compliment of fine Advanced Photo System features: Mid-roll rewind and cartridge replacement (MRC), three different custom functions, six shooting parameters recorded for improved print quality (PQI), a selection of three different "print types" (formats), date and title printing, and specification of the desired number of prints.

    Amazon.com Product Description

The Canon Elph LT 270 camera gives you the options of three custom shooting functions so you can pick the one that best suits your needs. You can select from real-time shutter release, flash mode preservation, or autorewind so you can shoot in absolute silence. This camera has an active autofocus system with center one-point measurement that uses PSD and IRED as the measurement element, giving you a focusing range of 1.5 feet to infinity.

The 2.7x zoom lens lets you take close-up images of your friends and family or any subject you want. The LT 270 comes with three print sizes, including panorama so you can capture large group shots or breathtaking landscapes. With the real-image viewfinder, you can switch between all three image sizes (C, H, and P) and know exactly how your image will be framed before you take the picture. You also get information on the camera's settings inside the viewfinder, including: object lens frame, close-up frame, AF frame, standard size mask (C size), panorama size mask (P size). A green "OK to shoot" and an orange "camera shake warning/flash ready" are visible on the LED indicators outside the viewfinder eyepiece.

For those times when you can't use flash photography, like at a concert or museum, you can turn the built-in flash off. The LT 270 also has a slow-sync flash mode that gives your nighttime images sharp foregrounds and gently glowing backgrounds, while the red-eye reduction feature helps eliminate the glowing red eyes flash photography can cause, giving your portraits a more natural look.

Canon's IX (information exchange) feature records the following: date, print aspect ratio, cartridge loading direction, subject brightness, title, magnification, artificial lighting, flash use, flash exposure, and print quality of each image. This information is recorded on the film using a single track, write-only magnetic recording head and is then transferred from the camera to the film. Your photo finisher then uses this information to give you the high-quality prints available.

    Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Too much hype over this camera.......2004-05-27

Alot of my photos taken at night are grainy or blurry. This camera is ok, not worth all the hype it's getting. Not to mention developing doubles will cost you about $15 per roll. I would stick with digital or 35mm over this.

    3 out of 5 stars not bad.......2002-12-11

I have owned this camera for about six months now, and overall I like the compact design, the variety of features it offers and the pretty decent zoom. If you also have a Canon EOS, slow your trigger finger, since the autofocus of the elph is not quite as snappy as the one on your high performance SLR. The flash is very limited in range, so this is ideal for indoor shots at smaller parties, but not at bigger events where you want to cover some distance. Twice I have had problems with fresh APS film involuntarily rewinding and popping out of the camera as used even though only one picture had been taken, but that may have been an issue with the film rather than with the camera. The zoom and autofocus use up quite a bit of battery juice, and the power will go pretty much without warning, so if you travel, have extras handy.

4 out of 5 stars Great replacement camera.......2002-08-10

I have a 10 year old Minolta 35-mm camera that I've just about beaten up. So, I borrowed this camera from my sister for my trip to Europe last month. The color and B&W pictures came out great. I especially loved the panoramic feature for those broad Italian landscapes and the great outside shots of Versailles and the Louvre! The only time the pictures didn't come out nice ... and this is my only complaint ... was when I was taking shots in a dark church or taking night shots. More often than not, those pictures came out blurry or grainy. Maybe if I used different film (I only used 400 speed while I was in Europe), or held my hand steadier it wouldn't have been a problem -- I'll have to play around with it a little. Otherwise, it is a great camera! Perfect for traveling -- light, compact, and inconspicuous. In fact, I plan on buying one for myself before my next trip abroad!

1 out of 5 stars Nice Marketing - Bad Results.......2002-03-24

My wife and I are very disappointed in this product. Pictures were very grainy using both 100 & 400 ASA film and the red eye reduction should have been labeled "Give Everyone Intense Red Eyes". Bottom line, don't even think about buying this cameria. It [stunk]!

4 out of 5 stars Small and conveniant!.......2002-03-05

I have one of those very expensive Nikon's, it takes fantastic pictures, but it is big and very heavy! I needed something I could carry around in my purse for those "I wish I had a camera!" moments. Having a son they are a lot more frequent! I decided to try the Elph, and when I got it I was suprised how light and small (maybe I'm just used to big and heavy?) but I decide to hurry and test it to make sure it took decent pictures. When I got my pictures developed I was very pleased. I tried it in low light and bright outdoors, it did well on both. Of course, with all small cameras, because of where the flash is located, you cannot avoid red eye. Only the flashes that detach can, so that is to be expected. Other then that it is perfect for what I need it for. I would certainly suggest it to anyone.
