Really great camera!.......2007-06-27

This camera was everything I hoped it would be and more. The panoramic shots are amazing and the pictures that turn out are amazing also. It has plenty of different modes that I love to use and they work wonderfully. The only complaint about the camera that I have is that the night mode is really crumby. It is best way to take night shots in the auto mode rather than the night shot mode. I have had no technical difficulties at all. I love this camera and am glad that I got it even if it was a bit on the high price side.

Compact & Simple.......2007-06-08

I am a REALTOR in Lexington SC and this is a great camera for my work. The wide angle is great in taking picture of rooms. I have used stiching programs and the results sometimes come out distorted. It saves me time from editing my pics for my virtual tours. The movie mode is fantastic. Not the greatest resolution but good enough to create a dvd on the Mac. I have used it to take a video of my home listing for the wife of my client who wasn't able to come and see the home. Mailed her a dvd of the home and a day later we have an offer on the home! This camera just paid for itself. The wide angle is great for family reunion pictures. Now no one is left out.

Great camera for the price.......2007-05-19

I purchased this camera to replace a Kodak V603 that I used for a while thinking that the "V803" indicated a camera with more functions, a "new and improved" version of the V603 that I had been using. The only incremental feature that the V803 offers is a higher 8 Mega Pixel resolution versus the maximum 6 Mega Pixel resolution of the V603. Actually the V803 excludes many functions such as Auto Rotate that are present in the V603. But the V803 does take very satisfactory pictures. If you put the camera in the "fully automatic" mode and simply click away you will get pretty decent pictures. Point and Click is what describes most of my picture taking so I am satisfied with the camera's performance. I would recommend this camera if you anticipate doing mostly Point and Click type of shooting with an expectation of decent (but not fantastic) results. By the way, I would also recommend that you totally skip installing any of the software that comes with the camera as the software is essentially Junk Ware that installs all sorts of unneccesary software and background processes whose main function ends up being to simply slow down your computer. Instead get an inexpensive SD Card reader and use that to read your memory card like a Disk Drive and simply copy and paste your pictures from the Memory Card to your hard disk.

Great buy - - -Kodak 8.2mp camera.......2007-05-15

Great camera to grab and go. What I like best about it (and the last kodak I had (5.2mp)) is the software. As a casual camera user, I nver know which mode to choose when I shoot photos, but the Kodak tells you as you scroll thru like 20 different options. It also takes very crisp shots and travels easily. I used to be an Olympus guy, but Kodak's user interface has swayed me.

I purchased this camera after some comparison shopping, and have found it to be a great value. It is comfortable to carry, easy to use, and takes very good photos. I especially like the ability to overide the automatic settings and get a little creative with this camera. It has a high ISO, which allows you to take existing light photos, even at night. I recommend this camera, especially for under $200, it is a real deal. Negatives? A bit bigger screen, and perhaps a bit better optics. (The optics aren't bad, just not great, but this is typical of sub $300 aim and shoot cameras.) Overall, I am very pleased with this camera.

An Overlooked Wonder.......2007-05-08

Like most people, I used to believe that the more money you had to spend for an electronic item the better it was, I'm starting to believe this theory is false and this camera proves it. This camera is only $199.99, and it's wonderful. It's up to 8MP, and it has like a gazillion scene selections(I just keep it in AUTO). I also like the fact that it has a re-chargeable battery, and yes it comes with the charger. I haven't used the video option yet, so I can't comment on that yet. If you're looking for a camera takes beautiful pictures, comes in a beautiful color (yes I have the purple one, but you have a choice of eight different ones), and it's inexpensive, then BUY THIS CAMERA! You won't be disappointed.

If you're having a hard time finding this camera in the store, I suggest you buy it from the Kodak Online Store. I've actually had this camera since the beginning of March. The Kodak Store has all the colors available.

V603 6.1MP Awsom Digital Camera .......2007-06-09

First off I would like to say this is the best pocket camera for the price and mega pixel range out there . I tried the Cannon, two different models of the Nikon the Olympus

I found may reasons not to keep the other cameras I tried , This Kodak camera is absolutely great it take a great photo, takes a SD card, I never even tried the Sony because I refused to buy a camera that will not use a standard memory format for their storage why should you have to pay double the price just because Sony and Olympus make special memory sticks for there cameras .

The photos on the Kodak 603 are sharp it has a (LARGE) lens the key to any camera is the larger the lens the better the photo. It has may setting mostly automatic takes a great photo , as far as night photos , as with any small camera if you are taking a photo more that 10 feet away the flash just isn't going to do the job unless you have perfect
conditions.

Now one of the best features I found on this camera is it takes absolutely great video , I would buy it just for the video it takes I have just played a bit with it out of the box it look great I got a couple of 1 gig cards $14.00 each a 5 min video is about 100 Megs
If you go to youtube.com and look at jimwebb603 you can view some of the video that was put up with this camera .

Things I don't like , the battery is small when it is used hard with the flash the camera will lock up and will need to be shut off and turned back on I purchased a second battery on e-bay for under $10.00 including shipping this takes care of that problem.

I do not use the software or the data cable I just pop the SD card our and put it in a reader and go from there , I did get a docking station for Christmas and I leave it in there so it is always charged .

All in all I love this camera for the $200 price range , I would recommend it , as my first choice the Nikon as second choice and the Cannon as a close second . I would not recommend the Olympus at all I don't think I had any photos that were in focus with the Olympus

Horrible night time pictures.......2007-05-14

DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA IF YOU ARE GOING TO TAKE PICTURES AT NIGHT.

This is a great pocket digital camera, except for one major, major flaw. It has a very weak flash. The spec's on the camera give it a range of 5 feet, which is accurate. Anything greater than 5 feet, and the pictures come out way too dark.

Any good camera will have a flash range of at least 11 feet. The flash range on this camera is just impractical. Who takes a picture from only 5 feet away? All you can get is a picture of a head.

Other than the flash, this is an excellent camera. It takes great daytime shots. The video is comprabable to other cameras this size.

This is also one of the fastest cameras in terms of the shutter delay and the time between shots. It doesn't turn on quite as fast as some newer cameras, but it is still pretty fast.

This is only a 6.1 Mega pixal, and the new standard is 7 (and you can get the over 10). 6 is plenty for most people. Also, because of the fewer pixals, this camera is faster than most of the newer, 7 pixal cameras.

Like many pocket cameras now, this one does not have view finder. You have to use the LCD screen. I prefer to use a view finder, but that is probably just because of old habits.

In summary, great camera to buy if you only take day time pictures. Very bad choice if you take in door or night time pictures.

Me encanta esta camara, antes de ésta estuve cambiando cámara cada 2 o tres meses, ahora me quedo con esta, es muy atractiva, funciona excelente, los videos son buenísimos, talvez se compara con la calidad del Hi8.
Como la mayoría de las cámara compactas, las fotos nocturnas no son muy buenas, el flash no tiene mucho alcance, aunque es mucho mejor que el de la Sony, en general, un producto totalmente recomendado.

Easy to use, pretty good pics.......2007-03-26

I bought this camera to replace the Kodak EasyShare 5.0 MP digital camera that I had (it was stolen, unfortunately). This model is very much like the previous 5.0 version. It is very easy to use, which I consider it's strong point. The process of taking and reviewing a picture is simple and doesn't require the user to go to menu screens and such, as do some digital cameras. I like the Easy Share Software included with the camera. It makes downloading pictures from your camera to your computer quick. The battery life is very good too.
The only complaint I have is that some pictures in dim light come out a little fuzzy, even with a flash.
All in all, I think it is a good camera for the money.

A fantastic OUTDOOR camera........2006-08-30

I work at a professional photofinishing lab, and I can attest to the quality of the film inside this camera. The Kodak FunSaver produces excellent results in outdoor and bright indoor shots. However, it does not perform well under normal circumstances indoors and in low-light situations.

The flash on the FunSaver is designed for outdoor use. Even if you are shooting outdoors with this camera, make sure you use the flash. In general, using a flash outdoors provides extra versatility when shooting subjects against bright backgrounds, and in all but the brightest sunlight, the flash will not wash out your subjects.

For indoor or low-light shooting, consider the Kodak PowerFlash camera.

Not Bad For The Money.......2005-11-15

Sure, the types of photos you can take with this camera are limited, but I'm guessing that if you buy one of these little cameras you aren't doing photo work for National Geographic or Life magazine.

Instead, this camera is perfect for those quick little getaways to the beach or on a trip down the road. If you're serious about your photos, then you might want to buy something that doesn't have "Single Use" printed on it. But in the case of this camera, it is perfect for a weekend or just a few silly shots of your friends.

Very easy to handle and stow away, this camera comes in handy for folks wanting quick pictures of damaged property. I'm talking about everything from a fender bender to house damage for insurance purposes.

Good camera, BAD software.......2007-03-10

We've enjoyed this camera except for the week where the lcd screen wouldn't function. It started working again the day I was going to send it off for warrantied repairs. The camera is stylish and takes very nice pictures for the price. It also is really handy for taking videos. They actually come out pretty good. I would purchase it or something similar again. The idea of the printer dock is very handy. In theory it is a fantastic product but needs some bugs worked out to make it really good.

I do have some difficulty getting the printer dock to print from my laptop and end up having to unplug and replug it and generally mess with it for longer than I would like.

The worst part is the software. It will not save a video correctly. It is over simplified and there really isn't much you can do to edit pictures. Sometimes it won't allow you to correct red eye which seems like a basic function. I HATE the software and am in the market for something else which is an expense I wish I didn't have.

Great Camera, only a couple short-comings.......2007-02-09

The camera is a great little machine! It's so tiny you can tuck it in your pocket or purse without sucking up serious space.

Most of my pictures are clear & sharp. The sport function ROCKS. It was the fastest one I tested when I bought it (1.5yrs ago) I have pictures of my daughter in mid-air jumping out of a swing.

The shot-to-shot refresh is non-existant (in most fuctions, except the nighttime or fireworks settings). As soon as you take one shot, you're ready for the next. This was a big bonus over my last SONY digital that took about 4-5 seconds to refresh.

My primary complaint is the zoom & flash range. They both fall VERY short of what I need. I was in the 6th row at my son's graduation in an auditorium & wasn't able to get a clear shot. They were all muddy & dark. The same held true at my daughter's gymnastics meet. Any distance at all & you've lost the clarity. The zoom almost always turns out shaky looking.

I'd recommend the camera however.

Camera is great, so long as it is working.......2007-02-07

Had the camera for 4 months and it worked like a charm, loved it! Went to charge it one day and the camera got really hot and subsequently wouldn't turn on. Call Kodak, they tell me to send it to their repair center--United Camera--and am reassured so long as the camera was not a victim of water or impact damage, it could be repaired under warranty.
Receive letter from United camera saying the main board needed to be repaired, that no 'customer misuse' present. Okay, I think, fine. Receive subsequent letter from UC saying upon further inspection, the damage is due to customer misuse and warranty is void and it will be $180 to fix the camera. I challenge this with UC who says I must call Kodak. I call Kodak who says that the final decision is made by UC. I call UC again and get them to admit that they cannot prove that the camera was damaged by 'customer misuse' however that they cannot repair the camera under warranty as Kodak's policy states that they must categorize it as such. They admit to me that the policy is bulls@#$ but that they cannot do anything about it. And you have to pay about $50 to have the camera returned to you ($35 inspection fee plus shipping) if you do not pay to have the repairs done.
In summary, the camera is great while it's working, but good luck if anything ever happens to it. 3 of 4 of my friends who also purchased this camera had similar experiences, none of which were covered under warranty. OH, and NO other camera repair places (Wolf, etc.) are allowed to fix Kodak cameras--Kodak insists that only United Camera fix them... And don't bother with a civil suit against Kodak, they're already buried in them.

Great Camera!!!.......2007-01-09

I got this camrea with some Christmas money and I just LOVE this camrea!! The Wifi works great with a home network. The on-camrea editing works just perfect! I love the Kodak Perfect touch editing! It improves the WHOLE picture quality.

The one bad thing is the battery life... The first night I got it the camrea told me I had to recharge the battery withing the first 6 hours. But I did use the Wifi quite a bit so that probabally makes a big difference.

This camera is excelent with outdoor pictures, excelent with movies, has excelent size, zoom, is very beatiful, and so on, BUT... has a very big problem at indoor enviroments.. It fails to measure the correct light, and the correct exposure for the picture... so, all the indoor pictures become dark... you have to set it manually, or film it (because in the movie mode, it's ok)... Hope Kodak can fix that in a firmware update, but I don't think so... I think they will correct that in a future model.

I bought 6 of these cameras for my wedding. The pictures developed were grainy and awful. Not one shot was usable. We took pictures in the light, the dark, all the shots were terrible. The photo lab told me that the film inside the camera was instructed to be developed using standard colors (?) and there was no way she could have altered the pictures or film to turn out better. I am extrememly disappointed and would never recommend this camera to anyone.

Excellent pictures, but not for everybody........2006-08-30

I work at a professional photofinishing lab, and I can attest to the quality of the film inside this camera. The Kodak Black & White OTUC performs comparably to the Kodak HQ Max Versatility camera; it produces a high-quality image in most situations.

The camera comes loaded with Kodak BW400CN film, which is safe for processing at any facility that can process color film.

Because this camera uses 400-speed film, it is much better suited to well-lit shots. If you use it indoors, always use the camera's built-in flash. Try to avoid low-light situations.

The higher contrast and image clarity offered by black-and-white film, coupled with the novel 'classic look' of black and white prints makes this camera a good buy for the casual artist or for unique circumstances. However, this camera is not pro-grade by any means. More serious black-and-white photographers would do well to purchase a reusable film camera and select their own black and white film stock.

Note also that many photofinishing labs will offer black and white prints from color film. While these pictures won't have the same contrast and clarity produced by true black and white film, they still have the novelty of being black and white. Depending on your application, this might be the way to go.

Basic / no frills / good.......2006-03-09

Highly recommended for anyone who wants just a taste of black & white film. I purchased this item as a experiment into the realm of film after years of work with digital. The flavor of prints from film is distinctly different from that of digital, and I would encourage anyone who is very familiar with digital, but not film to purchase a disposable camera just to experiance the difference.

If I had one complaint about this item, is that I was unable to toggle the flash to "off" once I charged it the first time. Even after letting the camera sit overnight, the flash was still enabled. Perhaps I simply didn't understand the instructions.

Fantastic results from a camera that costs <$10.......2004-10-14

Lets start this off by saying this is a sub $10 disposable camera.

It has no zoom or special features apart from the flash.

These were meant to be quick and easy to use with little fuss. And in that capacity they work really really well. I have a 35mm point and shoot zoom, a high end Sony digital and a mid range Sony camcorder but I always make sure I have one of these handy.

These are way faster and easier to use than either my digital or my 35mm. I get quick shots that I could never capture on any other camera because they simply take too long to turn on and/or set up.

As for picture quality I am more than pleased with the output. Remember the person developing your photos has as much control over how they turn out as you did in taking the picture. So it is important to use a developing service that you like and trust. That said, this little camera is capable of taking some terrific shots provided you shoot within the limitations of the lens and film.

The small lens means you will need to be fairly close to your subject to get good detail. Also, the B&W film is a slower ASA so you will generally need more light than you may be used to with color film. I find the camera works best using the flash on most all pictures I take unless you are in direct sunlight. B&W pictures are worth the effort as they have a distinct feel and warmpth that color film dosent easily capture.

Again, due to the small lens you cant expect a lot of depth in your photos but the clarity is on par with my Canon point and shoot.

Either way at this price you can't go wrong buying this camera.

I was quite taken by the look of the Camera. Very Compact, Professional looking (almost real) to previous "Cardboard Box" Disposable Camera's Kodak have brought out in the late 80's early 90's.
When I got the Photos developed they just looked Average, not much Depth in each shot, almost like they were overexposed. Not "true" B&W Pics. I've taken many B&W Photos before with a proper Camera using Ilford B & W Film. The Photo's were just so-so. I don't know about this whole Ektanar Lens stuff either, the Photos produced were no clearer than any other One time use Camera. I probably shouldn't expect so much from a Single Use Camera.

Easy to use and easy to carry.......2007-06-02

This camera is awesome. I love the fact that now I can carry my camera with me everyday and not have to lug an extra carrying case. The pictures are sharp and clear and it it easy to use. I do suggest using the wrist strap as my husband had a hard time with the "smallness" of the camera. I did not find it hard to use or handle. The picture on the LCD is clear and easy to see in all lighting conditions.

NOT FOOLPROOF - .......2007-04-06

Bought the Kodak Easy Share V550 about a year ago because I need the simplest most dependable camera I can find. Up front, I need to say that I'm pretty much a complete idiot when it comes to photography. While my husband, who is an amateur photographer has gotten some pretty good photos, my experience has been hit and miss. I find the teeney tiny buttons, some just pressure pads, difficult to use. Also, I don't think the icons clearly indicate the button function. The main selection button on the back has so many options, its staggering. I will say that the warranty service is very good. The LCD screen wasn't working properly and there were some other problems. I contacted the service center listed at the Kodak website and received promptly friendly replies. Camera was sent off, repaired and returned without any charge to me other than the initial shipping.

This is a good camera but buy the newer kodak. I don't even think they make this one anymore. Think they are up to the v600 series now.
A tad slow in shots but this was my wifes and I use a Rebel XT so not fair to compare to a D-SLR.

This camera does a few things well... But only a few.
The first, is that it does take decent candid videos. But even my phone can do that. I'm looking for better photos and this camera does not perform well. You have to have an incredibly still hand to take decent pictures with what seems like a VERY slow shudder. Inevitably, I get blurry photos. The reason I give it 2 stars is because of its form factor, and some of the features that can make it "cool". This camera is better than others because it has both a large LCD to view pictures and an optical viewfinder to frame pictures when the sun washes out the LCD. The latter is essential, no matter what manufactures say about the new screens being bright enough to handle direct sun on them. They are not. You still need an optical viewfinder for many outdoor pictures, but most cameras with big sceens don't have one. The Kodak V550 takes great pictures easily.

This is a low-speed black-and-white Panchromatic film. It is characterized by excellent sharpness, fine grain and good tonal reproduction. If exposed without the built-in filter, the film has a daylight ASA of 100. In Tungsten light, again without filter, the ASA is 80, due to the difference in spectral quality of the light. With the filter in place in Daylight, the ASA becomes 32. (Automatic cameras will usually expose this film as ASA 25 with the filter, at ASA 80 without the filter, which is satisfactory).

A continuous tone, panchromatic black-and-white negative film that is especially useful for photographing dimly lighted subjects, fast action, extended range flash pictures, and subjects that require good depth of field. This film is highly useful for scientific and biomedical work, especially when fluorescence photography is required. Its high speed (EI 400), very high sharpness, extremely fine grain, and high resolving power enable a high degree of enlargement. You can expose it at a speed of EI 800 with normal processing, or at EI 1600 with push-processing to obtain excellent results.
