CompactFlash (CF), which weighs a half-ounce and is the size of a matchbook, is an ultra-small, removable data storage system. Introduced in October, 1994, CF provides complete PC Card-ATA functionality and compatibility. CF has built-in, industry-standard compatibility because the 50-pin CF card can be easily slipped into a passive 68-pin Type II adapter card that fully meets PC Card electrical and mechanical interface specifications.CompactFlash, available in different capacities, was SanDisk's first product based on the company's 32Mbit technology. CF has been designed into more than 200 new mobile products, and more than 135 of those products including digital cameras, HPCs and audio recorders have been introduced. The last roll of film I'll need!.......2000-12-18
With a 48 MB card I can take the equivalent of two rolls of standard film photos on my Epson PhotoPC 850Z digicam. Over the life of the card (which is supposed to be good for something like 10 million photos!) I think this card will pay for itself in very short order.
As I post most of my digital photos on Internet albums or print them out on my inkjet (also an Epson) I rarely go to my local photo developer anymore.
I will probably add a larger SanDisk card at some point after I upgrade to my next digicam.
