I had compared the Kingston with other similiar CompactFlash Cards prior to buying and was impressed by the reviews both on Amazon and offsite. I recently went to China and took hundreds of pictures with this CompactFlash card. The storage compacity is fantastic. I was wondering the quality would be, given I have only used Cannon brands before. I thought it would take awhile to download the over 400 pics I took, but it transferred under a minute. The quality was truly impressive, making me reconsider by mind about always buying Cannon brand, as they are so expensive. Kingston is not only at a budget price, but the quality you demand!

A good storage/money ratio. I use this for trips and other times that I need a lot of space between downloads. Note, however, that this card does not have the write speed that one needs for continuous fire shooting. Once the camera's memory buffer is full, it takes many seconds for the data to be written to the card.

This real plug and play compact flash card reader is a must for every laptop owner. Any laptop has a PCMCIA slot, and every laptop nowadays comes with a modem , LAN , built in, so you use the PCMCIA slot for nothing, but the reader.

This adapter only accepts Type I CompactFlash cards, IT WILL NOT WORK with Type II CF cards because they are thicker than a Type I and the slot in this adapter isn't large enough. Amazon's picture appears to be an older version which WOULD accept a Type II CF card, but SimpleTech's current version of model# STI-CFADII is different. Gread adaptor, easy to use.......2005-01-18

I use this adaptor to read a 1 GB SimpleTech CF card that I use for an A95 Canon digital camera. This adaptor is metal, and the quality is good. Just insert your card into the adaptor, plug the adaptor into the appropriate slot in your computer, and you are off. The computer should recognize the card automatically, and a new drive will show up for it under My Computer (Win XP).

Make sure that you put the card into the adaptor before inserting it into the slot. If you just put the adaptor in without the card, NOTHING HAPPENS! Just telling you this so you can avoid a scare.

I have two SimpleTech cards, and they are both reliable as is this adaptor. I currently recommend SimpleTech, and will continue to do so until given a reason not to.

Ok, I just got a new digital camera and decided to buy another compactflash card from Simpletech and the Flashlink CF card reader, so I can get my pics to my PC fast. Then a friend suggested that I try using my CF cards as mini hard drives! I tell you it works. All I needed was the Simpletech PC card adapter and it like using a small floppy with alot more storage space!! Awesome!!

I recently got a Nikon D70 digital SLR and was having to transfer large amounts of files to my computer. As in, 512MB to 1GB. I only shoot in RAW so they fill up. Anyway, transferring 512MB from the camera (which was USB1 speed) took quite a long time, I think it was maybe like 10 minutes or even more to do 512MB.

With this Sandisk card reader, it's much faster, taking more like one minute. It looks snazzy too; more well-made than the piece of crap off-brand my friend got free with a camera that he bought (and faster). There aren't a lot of features to have on something like this but it does have a nice green light that comes on while a card is inserted.

On Windows XP, no installation of any sort was needed; I just plugged it in and instantly I had an extra removable drive visible in My Computer, which I then setup to automatically open in an explorer window whenever a CF card is inserted. Pretty easy.

For reference, I am using Sandisk Ultra II CF cards with it.

If you have a digital camera that uses CompactFlash memory cards, this is a must-have accessory. Instead of plugging in your camera directly and draining precious battery life, simply take the CF card from the camera and put it in one of these. Use that battery life to shoot more pictures! If you're using Windows 2000 or XP (I can't comment on Mac compatibility, not having tried it myself), it will be detected and configured automatically. No need to install any special software either; just use it like any other disk. Oh, and even if your system doesn't have USB 2.0 ports--mine doesn't, unfortunately--it will still work with older USB 1.1 ports. Just be prepared to wait slightly longer for transfers.

Oh, and if you take the reader and a CF card with you (it's small enough to pocket quickly), it makes for quick, easy, high-capacity portable storage.

Update: I've also had a chance to test this in Linux, and it works perfectly there. Just make sure to compile USB Mass Storage Support into your kernel or as a module.

Great value for a good product.......2004-10-18

This Compact Flash reader does just what it says, and it does it nicely. It is built well and is very light, and the price can't be beat. It is a USB 2.0 connection (backward compatible with USB 1.1) and I've had good experiences with the speed of data transfer.

I had an old Pocket PC for years but recently had to get rid of. However, in the Pocket PC I had a Compact Flash Card that was still in working condition and I wanted to keep it. Purchasing this product allowed me to take the old data off of it and even use it as an extra storage device (like another disk drive).

In addition, I recently bought a Canon Elph camera (which uses Compact Flash cards) and I wanted the ability to transfer data to my computer WITHOUT using my camera. This was a very important reason for my getting this item. I can now take out a Flash card and send the pictures to my computer even though my camera is low on batteries, or is not available.

It is a pretty simple item, but it does have a couple of minor features. First there are 4 rubber circular pads (about the size of dimes) on the bottom of the reader. This helps prevent it from slipping on a table. (This is important because the reader is so light that the USB cable can curl and push the item around).

Second, there is a little green light (on the top) which comes on whenever you have media inserted. This is good because you can tell if you've inserted it correctly.

I am very happy with this product.

Fast, efficient.......2004-09-19

I have a similar device that came with my 512 MB Lexar CF card, and it works fine. However, it doesn't want to read my 1GB card, nor does it read CF cards from other manufacturers. Clearly I needed a better reader.

I was a little averse to go to SanDisk to handle my Lexar media, but it turns out that they are completely compatible. Speed is blazing (if your machine has USB 2.0, which it probably does if you bought it last year or this year). I can transfer 1GB in about 10 mins, which is pretty good. Some CD burners are slower than that.

Overall, good quality product, has served me well for a month. Will post an update if there are any problems in the future.

Don't Take the Chance!.......2006-11-28

I purchased this card so my mother could use it on a trip to Alaska. It worked for exactly 2 weeks; up until the day she arrived home. According to the data recovery company I sent it to, it short circuited. The images could never be recovered. Although SimpleTech replaced it, it was not worth the frustration and loss of once-in-a-lifetime pictures. I am now using the replacement card but it seems to write slower than my other cards and, frankly, I just don't trust it. I keep waiting for it to short circuit again.

I ordered the SimpleTech 1GB CF for my Canon Digital Rebel XT because the price was great and because I had read that SimpleTech made Canon-labeled cards.

Two weeks after placing my order, with no word from SimpleTech and no tracking number, I contacted SimpleTech via the Amazon website. I got a very prompt response explaining that they never received the order from Amazon (some technical glitch) but to make it up to me, they would refund my shipping charges and send the card overnight.

The card arrived as promised. I put it in my camera and... nothing. I put it in a card reader and got an error. I contacted SimpleTech tech support through their website and got a very prompt response saying that the card was dead and they would gladly replace it. They sent me a UPS shipping label for the return and a few days later I had a new card.

The new card works perfectly and, although the fates conspired against me, I would definitely recommend SimpleTech to anyone looking for an affordable, top-notch product. Their customer service was extremely quick in responding and they replaced the defective card quickly and without hassle.

Pricey, but for a Good Reason.......2005-10-15

This is a great card to use for your 8 megapixel digital camera. I have the OLYMPUS C8080, and at the highest-quality camera settings, I can get 254 color shots from this card. SimpleTech is my favorite brand, because I've never had any of their cards fail on me, even after repeated washings. Oops.

This CF Card is totally dependable. SimpleTech is pricey, but you're paying for quality, which is cheaper in the long run.

Works great with Cannon Powershot A70.......2005-09-12

I had a 512 simpletech card, and loved it. I got this 1gb card a week ago and it has worked great. The 512 card was used very heavily for nearly 2 years, and so I purchased from simpletech again. The card maxs out the meter which suggests how many pictures I have remaining to take, unless it is on the highest setting. It says I can fit roughly 950 pictures from this 3.0mp camera on the highest settings, but I have not been able to take that many yet! Batteries only last for 300 pictures, so I probably don't need a card this big. It is nice for videos though, and it can hold about 15-20 minutes of video at 640x480 15fps. It also seems to write very quickly. Much quicker than my lexar card. For most users, I would suggest having 2x512 cards rather than 1x1gb. Don't keep all your eggs in 1 basket.
