Amazon.com Product Description
Lexar Media's high-speed digital film helps your camera capture images faster, so you spend more time taking pictures and less time waiting on your camera. Lexar's CompactFlash cards are individually speed rated so you know the minimum capability of the card. Lexar uses the same rating system used by the CD-ROM industry, where a data transfer rate of 1x equals 150 kilobytes per second (KBps). The higher the speed rating, the faster your camera will be able to write images to the memory card.

For professional shooters who need immediate confirmation they've captured the shot or who want to identify accurate exposure levels or bracketing range, Lexar's patented 24x speed (3.6 MBps) transfer rate makes the card ideal for fast-paced applications such as photojournalism, sports, and fashion. And Lexar's solid-state design provides reliability in harsh shooting environments, mandated by professionals throughout the world.

The Digital Film Compliance seal assures you that your Lexar Media digital film is 100 percent compatible with your CompactFlash digital camera. It can also be used in all other digital devices that support the CompactFlash format, such as PDAs, video recorders, and MP3 players. All Lexar Media CompactFlash cards meet the CompactFlash Association's specifications and are marked with the CF+ symbol. The 24x Professional series cards are backed by a lifetime limited warranty.

5 out of 5 stars How many pictures will it store?.......2004-11-06

How many pictures will it store? It is the most commonly asked question from digital camera enthusiast but usually the question that is the most difficult to get a straight answer about. Well, considering I worked in the memory industry for over 7 years I can help clarify this perplexing question and do so unbiased as I have since changed industries.

The Lexar Media 512MB 24X CompactFlash Card Pro, like most 512MB cards, will store on average 568 pictures when used with a 2 megapixel camera, 426 images when used with a 3 megapixel camera, 256 pictures when used with a 4 megapixel camera, 204 images when used with a 5 megapixel camera, and 160 pictures when used with a 6 megapixel camera. These numbers are based off the assumption that you are going to shoot your images at the highest quality JPEG setting available for the camera and understand that they are estimates and may be off by as much as 10 percent due to numerous factors including the complexity of the scene being shot and the compression algorithm used by your specific camera.

I truly hope this review was helpful to you in determining whether this 512MB card is the right capacity for your specific needs.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing value for this brand and capacity.......2003-02-08

Without the picture I wasn't convinced that this was actually going to be what it said it was, or maybe they'd cancel the order and say there was a mistake on the price... Nope. The box says "High-Speed Professional Digital Film with Write Acceleration". It had the 24x 512MB Type II (thinner) CompactFlash card with case. Image Rescue software installers for Mac OS X and Windows are on the card. Also inside the box was a JumpShot USB CF card reader (I already had a SanDisk one, but it's good to have an extra). See [...] for more info. Anyway, I was originally looking at the 16X 256MB card for about [$$$], and got this for [...] which seems pretty amazing. Initial observation with the PowerShot S30 was that it was writing images a lot faster than my plain SanDisk 128MB.
