My new 5610.......2007-07-03

For not much over a hundred bucks I can print, fax, and scan, as well as make copies. Moreover, it's easy to set up, and the instructions are clear and simple enough for any dummy.

I've had this model about 2 years and have never had any problems with it. It gets more occassional use than heavy use, but it always turns on and works and paper has never jammed. Great little all-in-one for the basic user.

Like others have mentioned, it does well in all categories...then the paper jams start and you are out looking for another printer. I had it since 2/06 and it went out 4/07 and have only gone thru one cycle of cartridges.

Fabulous printer, easy to use!.......2007-06-11

We bought this unit as a replacement for an older lexmark unit, we needed something Vista ready. This wasn't Vista OTB, but the HP site had drivers available. Very easy to install on our desktop. I also have it hook via USB hub to run from an XP laptop.
Both PCs run great.
A definite purchase if you are in the market for an inexpensive home PC.

Great All in One.......2007-06-10

This product is user friendly and was plug and play into my computer so it was a no hassle way of getting it installed. It was inexpensive and did exactly what I wanted to do. It gives you so many ways to copy, feed and scan your documents. I truly enjoy this product and plan to utilize it for many years.

HP's OfficeJet 5510 is an all-in-one color printer, color copier, color scanner, and color fax machine. This versatile unit is perfect for the home office or small business where space is at a premium. The 5510 has a standard input capacity of 100 sheets and up to 10 envelopes, with an output capacity of 25 sheets. The flatbed scanner provides up to 600 x 2,400 dpi optical resolution and 36-bit color, with software-enhanced resolution up to 19,200 dpi. The 33.6 Kbps modem fax machine has a 3-second per page transmission speed and is capable of color faxing. A 90-page fax memory ensures that your don't miss important faxes when you run out of paper, while fax auto-redial, delayed sending, and auto-reduction provide added convenience. Copy speeds are as fast as 17 cpm for black and 12 cpm for color, while up to 99 copies can be made at once, freeing up your time for other tasks.

Not worth the aggravation.........2007-06-09

I own this printer a little over a year and regret the purchase. It paper jams regularly as does the printer cartridge. I cannot print more than a page or two without it jamming. It requires constant attention and a print job that should take 5 minutes can take as long as half an hour given all the fits and starts. I doubt the repair is worth the price so we will be purchasing a new, better one.

I don't know if it's because of the software cd that comes with the printer for installation, or if it's just a plain bad model but I've had problems with this all in one printer since I first bought it...It wouldn't print and so I send it back and HP did actually send me a whole new one in return, but then that one had problems functioning also...in the end I can't print with it though I already exchanged it for a new one once before.

Cheap & Quirky.......2007-03-02

I'm on my second version of this machine which I bought because I could scan legal size from the glass. It's one of the few electronic purchases I regret.

The build is cheap. Paper guides are loose and ADF jams easily. Carriage stalls easily. Noisy. The trap door to access the print carriage finally broke off it's little plastic pin...do I need to go on? HP's mindless customer service told me it wasn't a 'user replaceable' part and I'd have to take it in for service to replace this little 9" piece of plastic. For quality and service, I'd have done just as well at a pawn shop.

HP Director software is slow, bloated and hangs constantly, despite HP software updates (2GHz Pentium4 running XP with 1.5GB RAM). Even my poor ol' Canon with parallel printer cable that the HP replaced was better than this.

Upshot is that I replaced it with a Brother multifunction (MFC-665CW) considering, for one, I have a 20 year old Brother fax/ans machine that still works just fine.

Never worked right, drivers... blah........2007-02-15

Well, the printer part is ok, but the scanner stinks. It's a 50/50 shot whether it will work when I turn it on. I can fax something and it goes into limbo "connecting" forever until it is turned off. Scanning is the same.

Paper handling is bad too, it grabs as many sheets as it wants, and forces me to hand feed it. Don't buy this printer unless you want to hold it's inky hand.

Does nothing great, but does everything as advertised. I don't use the software that came with it because it is limited. Scans, prints, and copies with good enough results for me. Don't expect a Rolls Royce for the price of a Yugo.
