Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Great Multi-function printer / love the WI-FI.......2007-03-29

Just bought this printer (although at costco at a better price), and have to say after my HP all-in-one clunker this thing is great.

- sleak/small and light
- everything is nicely tucked away & within easy reach, installation etc.
- preview lcd screen which works nice and thorough menus
- wifi networking (via your wlan)
- it prints great images, quick and quality
- scanner and faxer work very well

One of the highlights is definately the WIFI functionality. Previously on my HP I had to do some XP printersharing magic to get it to work with my Macbook. Now I just looked for the printer, found it in a snap and added it.

I'm done with HP. Go Brother!

5 out of 5 stars WOW.......2007-02-04

This is my first posted product review I have ever written on the Internet and there is a good reason why.

The reason I wanted to get rid of my HP printer is because I was sick and tired of the HP software, it was causing nothing but problems and annoying pop ups, STAY AWAY FROM HP. Many people will tell you that HP software is horrible and invasive.

First of all, it is important to me that the design (color, shape, size) of a producut matches its target location. This device is small, flat and desrves the title stealth bomber of multifucntion printers. It looks modern and will never g out of style. This is important to me becasue I dont want something big and ugly sitting in my living room when not in use.

After a few minutes of programming the device on its LCD screen the device became identified to the network.

The wirelss function is amazing. I am now not restricted by close proximity integration. I now have the choice to install the device anywhere I want within ints radio transmission range. This provides integration flexibility.

The coolest feature for was the fact that I could scan something and tell the machine I want the image emailed. A couple of seconds later my email client popped open an email with the image attached, truly amazing.

On the software side, No popup messages, no nothing. It nicly does its thing in the background without letting you know its there. You can even do away with the software but the scan features it provides are awesome.

So to all the contemplative buyers like me,

this thing may not be the fastest printer on the market but it will make you happy.

It deserves 5 stars.

5 out of 5 stars Two Words - Simply Awesome.......2007-01-16

This is an incredibly compact, lightweight, user-friendly product. Who knew that a combo fax/printer/scanner/modem complete with digital photo print capability could be so easy to use amd so compact. If you're used to bulky, crappy office machinery at your workplace (like I was), then you'll be bowled over by how simplistic this unit is. You can be up and running in just a few minutes. Kudos to the folks at Brother, they got this one right!

4 out of 5 stars Very good all-in-one.......2007-01-11

I've been using this Brother inket printer/fax/scan for 3 months and have used all of the functions. Overall, I am happy, but there a couple functions that I have had trouble setting up.

It was very easy to get it up onto our network, and both my Dell laptop and our MacBook pro found it very quickly and were able to print without any snags. The print quality is good; I am using it to print the travel info to go in our wedding invitations, and I'm very happy with the results. It easily prints on various paper sizes and I haven't had a paper jam yet. I do not yet know how long the catridges really last. The print speed is pretty slow, but I rarely do large projects, so that wasn't an issue. The PC fax and fax from the machine work fine. And I absolutely LOVE the small size (for our tiny NYC apartment).

I think scanning is more difficult to set up because, being on a wireless network, the brother needs to know where to send the data (as opposed to simply accepting a print job over the network). I've been able to scan okay by opening the control center on my computer and telling it to scan from there. However, I sometimes have to tell it to scan a couple times before it does; and turning it off and back on usually helps. If I simply press the scan button on the machine (and actually choose my computer's name to send it to), the scanner scans, but it doesn't actually get to my computer (that I know of).

The LCD is nice. I liked having it there for inputting our network's wep. I'm sure I'd use it more if I printed photos directly from a memory card.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone who either works from home or needs an all-in-one -- especially if you have a limited amount of space, and/or your household or office would benefit from having the printer on the wireless network.

4 out of 5 stars good machine.......2007-01-11

once you get past the start up it works great, printing, fax, copy and scan results were very good. Set up was the only problem, the software would not print from a computer with XP with the inset drivers I had to use Microsoft wizard supplied drivers. Photos also come out very good.
