Vibrant colors and crisp black characterize the output of the Epson Stylus 777. It offers print speeds of up to 8 pages per minute in black and 6 ppm in color, 880 x 720 dpi resolution, and quick-drying, smudge-proof inks. Epson also incorporates MicroPiezo ink-jet technology and AcuPhoto halftoning for natural skin tones and smooth gradations for reliable results with each print.

In our tests of the 777, we loved the speedy setup. Color and black ink cartridges snapped in easily with no mess or mistakes. A foldout guide walked us through clearly and thoroughly detailed steps to get running. Epson also covers printer basics for the novice in their user's guide. Software loaded intuitively, though the useful electronic printer manual was a bit fanciful.

We printed a variety of images on some of the specialty papers that Epson included in the box. We selected the photo enhancement setting to improve brightness and contrast when printing photos, and the 777 handled these printing jobs with pleasing results. With quiet print operation, we were undisturbed on the telephone or deep in conversation.

You can expect to get about 400 to 600 pages of black printing, or under 300 for color, before replacing the cartridges. With automatic ink-low and ink-out detection, you can track how much ink you have left with the onscreen progress display during printing. A 100-sheet input tray accepts a wide range of standard papers, envelopes, and many specialty media, including labels, photo paper, and card stock holding up to 30 pages of output at one time.

We appreciated the 777's sleek look--clean curved lines in soft gray--and its compact design. The 777's small footprint measures just 10 by 6.8 by 17.7 inches to save desk or counter space; it weighs a movable 8.4 pounds.

The 777 comes with Corel Print House 2000 for photo editing, Epson Software Film Factory for image editing and Trellix Web for creating Web pages. waste of money.......2007-03-08

The only good thing about this product is the price, but as the saying goes
"you get what you pay for" This ink lasted a small fraction of the brand name ink. I printed maybe 5 documents and the ink ran out. I even used the economical setting on printer so can save ink. Each time I called the manufacturer there was a answering machine.The first time someone called me back and said that they would take care of it and get back to me. Well they never did. Then I realized that I should of tried dealing with amazon instead
and they told me that the replacment time had already passed.So I was screwed. Never again will I buy ink from a no name company!!!!!!!

The ink works fine. It is expensive but I have not found any that were not expensive. I love the fact that it is self-contained (i.e., no spills, no mess - just pop out the old and insert the new).

What You Should Know.......2002-04-20

My printer came with my Home Internet Appliance, so I didn't "CHOOSE" it. I think Epson sells their printers at reasonable prices, and then make their money on the cartridges. As everyone else has stated, their cartridges do not print as many pages as promised.

I payed [good money] for a Lexmark printer in '98 and got tired of paying [high prices] for ink cartridges that seemed to magically dry out.
So when I saw an Epson printer for [inexpensive] bucks last year, I just decided to get a new printer instead of paying [the high price] for a black and color Lexmark cartridge.

But alas, this Epson cartridge is not that much better. I just had to replace a black cartridge installed last summer with less than 50 pgs. printed on them. The funny thing is the last page printed with the finished cartridge was pretty good. Then next thing you know, the printer status program is telling me that there is no ink left. What's the deal here? There is no way a cartridge low on ink should be able to produce that good of a print, only to say "sorry, you just printed your last page and we have a chip that's goint to send an out-of-ink message to the printer so you can't use it anymore (even if there is ink left) and have to go buy a new cartridge for ...

I miss the dot matrix printer I had when I was a kid. When the ink got faint, I remember trying to find the part of the ribbon that could somehow give me a few more pages. With these cartridges, computer chips inside the cartridge decides when you should go out and get a replacement.

This printer and ink stinks.......2002-01-26

I bought the 777i about a year ago and have had to refill the ink about 5 times. I definitely do not get the 300 pages it's supposed to do, more like 40-50. Yes I've tried different ways to get by-but the fact is that this printer and ink stink. I will not be purchasing another printer from the clowns at Epson. I advise you to seriously look at any other brand on the face of the planet.

Do not buy this PRINTER.......2001-09-23

Along with numerous others, I have been unable to get a promised 300 pages per cartridge (more like 100). Due to the high cartridge ... and nor being able to refill I recommend that you not buy this model. I previously owned a Epson Stylus Color 640 and had great experience. Buy a printer with cartridges that you can refill!!! Epson 777 is definitely not one of them.
To give Epson credit - their quality has been superb with the 2 printers I owned over 5 years.
