Designed to allow printing, scanning, and copying at the same time, the V40SE also works as a standalone copier to produce both color and monochrome copies. With 600 x 600 dpi monochrome printing (2,400 x 1,200 dpi color), the V40SE offers copy speeds up to 4 copies per minute in black and 2 cpm in color, plus reduction/enlargement from 50 percent to 200 percent.

The flatbed scanner features resolution of 600 x 1,200 dpi with 36-bit color and 8-bit gray scale. The printer delivers speeds of up to 5 pages per minute in black and 3 ppm in color. Fax at six seconds per page with 14.4 Kbps. Program up to 60 speed -dial numbers. A 50-page memory preserves data, and a 20-page automatic document feeder speeds your work.

The paper tray handles plain paper, ink-jet papers, labels and transparencies, glossy and matte photo paper, and more. A one-year limited warranty covers parts and labor.

Great Little All-In_one.......2006-11-26

I have had my v40 All-In-One for over two years now and have had no problems at all. I do not do professional work but for the home, it is perfect. Even the cartridges are reasonable if you shop around on-line. I do wish it had separate color cartridges but hey, if it's not broke, don't fix it. Too bad HP has discontinued this item.

Pretty good all-in-one.......2005-05-06

The printer is great for office and home use. Its copier is also excellent and faxes are great. The only few problems i have with it is the feeder scanner... most of the time it gets sucked in sideways or crooked and it comes out printer at an angle, most of the time it only feeds it at a tiny angle, and very rarly it has trouble sucking the paper in, but thats not to much a problem you just tap the paper into the feeder. Overall i would reccomend this printer its a great size for what it does if you have small desk space, the ink cartiges can be a bit pricy compared to just regular printers, but the cartages last a very long time if you just using it for office use, and very little photos.

carriage jam.......2005-02-07

We only had this printer for a little over a year and it no longer works. We have not used it extensively either. The carriage jam problem just showed up and now it is completely uselss. We now have to buy a new printer/copier/fax. I will not be getting an HP. We will also be getting a copier that you can lay the paper on flat, not a feed through. Save your money. I am very upset that I now have to buy a new printer.

Works great for one year!.......2005-02-03

I used this machine to copy and fax. I thought it worked great, until.... I got the infamous "Carriage Jam" that has rendered it useless after just over a year - and out of warranty! If you think buying a new machine every year is reasonable, then I recommend this product. If it burns you to see your hard-earned money go into the garbage, then I would say buy something different. Google it and you'll see that hundreds of people have had this same problem.

Very good printer/copier/fax..........2005-01-15

We actually have two of these v40's. We have two computer stations in the house so decided we would get the same printer for each, saves hassle buying differant cartridges for the printers. One is set up for using all its functions including fax and the other is used mainly for printing and copying. I really like these printers, they do it all quite well. I was amazed at how well they will print photo's...using good photo paper and setting the printer properly...this machine prints excellent photos...every bit as nice as my Canon Photo printer, and a lot faster. Though not as fast at printing doc's as a laser printer, it is faster than some other ink jets we have had. Being able to use the copy and fax modes as stand alones is a plus...don't even need to turn the computer on, saves time.
We have had both of these printers for about three years now and have had no problems or complaints. You get a resonable amount of printing from the cartridges and they arn't too outrageously priced. Recommend this one.
