Paper jam, every time. It's pretty amazing, this printer can suck in 10 pages at a time, not 1 page at a time, as a printer is suppose to. It jams half way, all the way, one page, two pages, 10 pages. So many variations- just to screw your day.
Don't get it.

Good printer for Home Use .......2006-01-19

It's a good printer for $40! I only use mine at home and maybe print 5-10 pics a month and a few pages of tab's and I've had NO problems!
Now it does go through you ink cartiridges faster than most HP deskjet's I've ever owned, but since I dont print that much it doesn't bother me!
Also it does print SLOW, but just like when burning DVD's the SLOWER the BETTER!!
So Basically, This is a good printer for home use!

Not a bad printer for $39 at Walmart... very good print quality and nice features for a printer in this price range. But it eats ink like crazy. When the cart gets low on a multiple print job you have to do each copy manually which is very inconvenient. I can get only about 20 pages of a full color document before the low ink (color) comes on. These companies that make the cheapo printers know that their dollar is going to come from ink cart sales... $48 for a black cart and color cart at Target! At these prices I'll go broke.

If you're considering this product, consider it no further, it is absolute bollocks. It always jams and the catriges cost almost as much as the printer does. Get a lazer printer and get a good one.

Good but not great.......2005-09-25

This is a good quality printer that I got [...]. It's not excellent, but it gets the job done. As a college student, I needed something small, cheap, and easy to use, and this fits the bill. It DOES need a USB connection cable, which another reviewer pointed out, but those are easily available at any place that sells pritners, and on Amazon.com. The printer can be a little slow and does occasionally jam. The first time I used it I had the most problems-it kept grabbing two or three sheets of paper at a time and then getting jammed, and it kept cancelling print jobs. However, I have had no trouble with it in the past few weeks and have used it a few times. It's nice for the dorm because my roommate can walk over and plug the USB cable into his laptop, so we are both able to use it without any trouble.

Good Printer.......2006-05-03

At the start of fall semester 2005, I had a brand new b&w ink cartridge and a brand new color cartridge. Now, 9 months and over 800 pages later, I'm still using the same cartridges. The ink lasts a lot longer than the indicator says. I just put the print quality on fast-normal or fast-draft, except for when I want to occasionally print out a nice photo, which this printer does exceptionally well. This printer prints as good of quality as I'll ever need. I've had this printer since 2003, and I always get at least a ream and a half of paper out of each set of cartridges. I just use the cartridge until it doesn't print anymore.

AWESOME print quality..........2005-01-25

I recieved this printer when i got my new computer, it was one of those "add a printer for some odd amount", and we did. The printer definitely has its pluses...its very compact, fairly reliable, ink doesn't just give out on you, and it's decently fast. My major problem with it is, this... the ink. I had two full-sized ink cartridges that lasted absolutely no time at all. The print QUALITY was tremendous (not even just for a low-price printer) but considering the ink cartridges are roughly twenty to twenty five dollars a piece, and it's not uncommon to find this printer at less than forty dollars, it seems a little odd to me. If it were not for the cartridge capacity, i would have no problem with this printer and i would reccomend it to ANYONE, otherwise, the ink factor is definitely something to think about. I must say, even to the near-end of its life, the black ink printed, crystal clear and blemish free.

the print quallity was not bad, really.

i wanted to print dvd covers. one should be able to do that on letter size paper. however, there was an 1/8" boarder, whether i asked for it or not!!!

also, how long are those ink carts supposed to last? i think i did about 20 prints and it was through! the lady at walmart told me it was a full ink cart that came with it

Ink hog.......2004-10-14

One principle of economics is that you sell the razor cheap and charge through the nose for the blades. This works well for razors, but most people would revolt if they could only get half of a shave per blade. I haven't gone through a single 500 page ream of paper, but am already on my third $18 cartridge. That comes out to 33 cents a page, folks. Printing in draft or manually refilling the cartridges are the only options.

Great printer deal, but only if you know its limits.......2004-08-22

I had the advantage, I guess, of buying this in a store (Target) so I could tell by reading the outside of the box (duh) that no USB cable or B&W ink cartridge was included. I have extra USB cables around the house and went ahead and bought a B&W cartridge for the printer right away.

Reading some of the reviews here, I conclude that customers who bought the HP Deskjet 3520 from an online seller didn't have the opportunity to know what was and wasn't included. I can understand why they would be unhappy.

I bought this printer to replace an older HP deskjet that finally breathed its last (hey, it survived such incidents as having pretzels dropped into its works) while hooked up to my notebook in my little upstairs computer cart nook. My main printer is an HP Officejet 7130 workhorse, so I didn't need another printer to handle photos or cards. I've become spoiled by being able to print out web pages and other things from my second-string wireless surfing location away from the main office in the basement and so wanted a new second-string printer.

I finally decided to go with this printer because it's lightweight, and I can pack it along on a road trip when I take my Winbook.

It has performed very reliably for me, printing on plain paper, and the software includes the HP "preview" function as well as a cartridge ink level monitor.

As with any low-price inkjet printer, you have to realize that the cost of the printer is going to be less than the cost of feeding it more than once or twice with cartridges, even if you economize with remanufactured cartridges. You can save more money if you can successfully refill cartridges, but my only forays into that created more mess than value so I'll leave that to more capable folks.

I would certainly NOT recommend this printer for photo printing, or expect it to handle greeting card stock. It's very good within its limits.
