Good for its price but a few problems.......2006-01-10

This printer does it job well and is a good 1 or maybe 2 year investment. Personally it did not eat the ink so quick (i actually was amazed how many pages were printed within a year without replacing the original colour cartridges.. and it is i think about 300 pages-for fastdraft and normal options and a small amount of color used). But as the other users said, for some reason it ceased to work after a 2 year usage. I got myself in the situation of it breaking down (one component of the moving cradle snapped). On the other hand, the driver is friendly and helpful. If you have money to spare buy a superior one.

I bought this printer my freshman year of college for about $50. I didn't expect much; I just needed something to last me through the year until I could get enough money for another, perhaps better printer than my 6-year-old laser jet.

I'm now a senior, and this printer hasn't given me problems. I've only had to replace the ink twice in the three, almost four years I've had it -- and I'm a journalism major! That means tons of printing, both in color and black/white, and it doesn't guzzle the ink. The size is perfect, too. In a cramped double dorm room, I couldn't afford to give tons of space to something as insignificant as a printer. With this one, I had no problems. It fit right into a corner, and is smaller than some handbags I have.

This printer is also very user-friendly. It alerts you when there is any problem, and any problem is usually simple enough to solve -- load paper, make sure paper isn't jammed, etc. It's not rocket science.

I am actually pleased to know this is Mac-compatible. I have always purchased HP computers, and now I am looking at a Mac Powerbook. I hadn't anticipated the need for a Mac-compatible printer, but this was a welcome discovery.

The only downfall to this printer is the cost of ink. Separate cartridges will run you $17, but the bundle of color and b/w is $35, roughly the cost of the printer.

Overall, this is a great investment, especially if you don't have the need for some high-tech printer; if you need something to print text or basic images, this printer will definitely do the trick. And at this price, even if it doesn't suit your needs to a T, you're not investing so much money that you'd regret it.

'Out of Paper' Errors.......2004-12-16

I picked this printer because I needed a simple and cheap printer. Realizing that it was cheap, I wasn't expecting or asking for much from it. Yet I got so, so much less.

The most infuriating problem with it is that the paper feed simply does not work correctly. I've attempted to find many workarounds but there is simply no other option than to manually hand feed each page to the printer as it is printing. When I leave a large stack of paper in the tray, the printer constantly alerts me that it is out of paper. Then I have to take a single page and manually push it into the printer for it to accept the page and print it. Repeat X number of times for X pages. It's fun....

Anyway, this experience has completely turned me away from buying HP products. I bought a bottom of the barrel printer and found that a Lexmark bottom of the barrel is vastly superior to HP's bottom of the barrel.

I am glad there will be no more victims of this printer. Although the printer prints exceptionally well for the price and has a wonderful light weight feel to it, there is a strong chance it won't last you 6 months even with minimal usage. Many people complain the printer broke on them, this and the similar light weight models. It seems a little piece inside of the printer wears and breaks off in no time. These printers are said to have a "light weight technology" more like cheap plastic technology to me. I went through 2 of these printers and similar in one year, first the 3420 and then the 3320 which did the same thing in less than 6 months. I don't do much printing and reading these reviews I realized it's not the users fault. HP is a great brand when it comes to printers, however, I suggest you go with a much higher up printer that will give you your monies worth.

Trashed & Forgotten within 6-Months, Drink INK to Last Gasp!.......2004-11-21

Aside from HP Computers--practically anyone is probably imagining their next system...of entirely different make, or indpendent and constructed to personal need and taste.

Accordingly, hp deskjet 3320 (as noted in probably most reviews) uses 'heavily'...'drinks'...'gulps'...'sucks as an ultimate ferocious perfect natural vacuum and/or Black Hole'..!

In all in every conceivable way, it 'sucks' all things, and it's trash within a year if that. Since hp ever marketed this, run screaming and flailing to Canon or EVEN Lexmark...hp 3320 (and hp!) is just that bad for quality and economy that can even last beyond 6-months! Buy only for several $ in a flea-market! (When/If you DO use this printer, watch in amazement as it gasps/gulps/engulfs any ink cartridge dramatically per any/all prints!) This item sucks so very bad...~! ; P
