Product Description
Get two for one with the WorkCentre XE80 from Xerox. It doubles as both a digital copier and a laser printer, a benefit for small offices that need both but can afford only one.The XE80 makes up to 100 monochrome copies at 6 copies per minute. Reduce or enlarge the original using one of five presets, or pick your own level in 1% increments from 50% to 200%. Automatic exposure adjusts for light, dark and colored backgrounds for readable copies each time. The Photo mode makes clear copies of black and white or color photographs to retain fine details and shading. For file copies or draft documents, the Toner Saver mode yields presentable copies while saving toner. The XE80 also works as a monochrome laser printer, yielding up to 8 prints per minute at 600 x 600 dpi resolution. This monochrome laser digital copier/printer is also good for home or school use, with a 1000 copy/month rating and the ability to copy on paper, transparencies, labels and envelopes. A front-loading paper tray holds up to 250 sheets, letter or legal size.
Amazon.com Review
Reap the benefits of fast and sharp digital copying and laser printing with the Xerox WorkCentre XE80. Advanced but accessible technology, a simple but well-chosen suite of features, and a compact but sturdy design combine to make a great addition to your home office or small business desktop.
The WorkCentre makes a great impression, even just coming out of its box. It seems solidly built, attractive, and unimposing. To setup the WorkCentre, we followed the included Quick Reference Card, which covers unpacking the unit, attaching the accessories, inserting the toner cartridge, and installing the PC software. These instructions permitted essentially flawless setup in about 10 minutes.
Just after we turned on the WorkCenter, we started making copies. The controls were intuitively obvious for enlarging, reducing, and setting the number of copies. The output was rich, sharp, and detailed; the gray shades were balanced, and there were no unexpected spots, blemishes, or streaks.
To test the printing functions, we started our favorite graphics program and printed previously scanned artwork. The output was very sharp, and the WorkCentre's gray-scale interpretation of our original's color was utilitarian-looking in 300 dpi and warm-looking in 600 dpi.
We also tested a variety of TrueType fonts, and the text was, of course, 600-dpi-laser-pefect. Colored text was interpreted and gray-scaled as we expected, although the red and green in our original appeared not only gray but also pixelated in the output.
Overall printing was very fast, both in terms of paper path throughput and the time to transfer data from our PC to the WorkCentre's memory buffer. Only 65 seconds passed between clicking the Print button in our Windows application holding eight copies of output in our hands.
Except for the initial setup, we did not need to consult the documentation for any printing or copying functions. We admire the WorkCentre's straightforward design, setup, and suitability to function. This is an excellent printer/copier for the small office environment.
