The Samsung ML-1450 is a network-capable laser printer that offers high 1,200 dpi resolution, a 15-ppm rated speed, and a powerful 66 MHz processor. It's PC and Mac compatible and easy to use. A basic control panel permits quick cancellation, reprints, demos, and activation of toner-saving mode.

The large-capacity input tray and two output stations expand your printing options. It's difficult to rate a product like this, but I marked it down some since I previously had one that failed to give any where near the service life that it should have. My current cartridge has been great. The best thing about this order was the price would be hard to beat. I saved $30 over purchasing at a local office supply store, and the free shipping was quick!

I purchased this remanufactured unit to replace an old off brand small laser printer. I just do standard printing on 8 by 11 regular copy paper.

The tray hold lots of paper and I had no problems with it. The laser cartridge is extremely easy to load and the loading process was very well engineered.

With the printer on and warmed up a single page completes printing in 21 seconds. After that the printing speed in one page every 4.75 seconds or 12.6 PPM. This was at 600 DPI. This is with an old non-directional parallel port printer cable from the early nineties.

While it is true that the lights flicker a bit when the printer is warmed up the flickering is not bad and is intermittent. I get 2 or 3 flickers in five minutes. Under document defaults, graphic, printer option you can change the power save mode time to five minutes.

The noise level of the printer is fine and has a nice hum to it.

It looks like the printer takes a single 8MB 72 pin SIMM (8MB 72-pin 60ns EDO Tin-lead FPM SIMM (p/n XEA8). It's about $10.

1 out of 5 stars Does not hold up, poor site support.......2004-07-24

After a year with this printer the envelope feed no longer works. Attempts to find information on the site bring offers to advertise more Samsung products. This product may still be on the market, but it is not worth what it costs. The new cartridges, furthermore, are outrageously expensive. (We have had the Samsung for 1.5 cartridges, as we do a modest amount of printing.) It worked well in the beginning, but not we will either need to repair it or buy a new one. Not cheap at this rate.

My HP Laserjet 4 finally died, and I spent several days looking at laser printers. Now that I've had this one for a couple months, I'm convinced I made the right choice. It's a great printer at a great price! It holds a huge amount of paper - 500 sheets at once. I've fed thick card stock and cover stock through it, and envelopes/labels load and print with no problems. Many of the inexpensive laser printers feel cheap and flimsy - this one feels substantial, much more like my HP than most of the lasers on the market.

One feature I really love is the "reprint" button- press it, and it prints another copy of the page you printed last. Why don't all printers do this? It prints a lot faster than my old HP - plenty fast enough for a small office environment.

The toner cartridge includes the drum - very important, as many of the cheaper printers have a separate drum which must be replaced with every few toners, sometimes for almost as much as the printer cost! The included starter cartridge is good for only 3000 pages at 5% rated coverage (less than that in real life), but considering how cheap the printer is I still think it's a bargain that they include a cartridge at all. The regular cartridge is rated for 6000 pages.

Compare this to an inkjet (where they basically give the printer away to sell you overpriced ink cartridges for the rest of your life) and I can't see why anyone wouldn't buy a laser. This one has the right combination of features and a great price - highly recommended!

1 out of 5 stars Macintosh Users - This printer is the wrong option.......2004-02-23

This printer needs extra memory to print in 1200x1200dpi, and it needs an extra PostScript Simm to use PostScript capabilities, this you find out after reading carefully the instructions. This if you use a PC, because if you have a Mac, neither those option will work. So i guess what is printed in the specifications does not match the real printer capabilities. I am sorry Samsung, but for me this printer was a great dissapointment. A mistery for me is how it is possible that a new toner cartridge is costs 60% the printer's price ? ( at least where i live ). I sold this printer and now i have a HP-1015, just great.

If it is DOA, Samsung will only replace it with a remanufactured unit (if you are unable to lug it to their service center). So, you pay for a new one, it dies within one year, and you get a remanufactred one in its place. No more Samsungs for me. HP seems the way to go.
