Over the years, I have experienced good and bad qualities in printers. This ranges from home use to purchasing and maintaining printers in research and academic labs. I can honestly say, I have not had any problems with Canon's brand of printers. For this reason, I searched for a printer that would accommodate and provide good quality documents in word processing, photo printing, scanning, and copying in my home. Most multi-purpose units include a fax ~ which I did not want. Excuse me ~ anyone for a dinosaur burger? I love this machine. It provides great prints, scans, and copies. It is easy to install and use. I highly recommend the PIXMA MP-450.

As much as I like the MP450, I use it for photo printing mostly, and must say I'm still looking for a printer that represents black better.
Comparing photos from an actual lab to the MP450's output, the print doesn't use the black cartridge when printing color, so black is generated by mixing all available colors, resulting in a grayish tone instead of black.
Other than that, it's a fine printer.

I bought this printer because it was recommended by consumer reports magazine. It prints well, scanner and copier is good. It also prints good photos. For this price, this is a good printer.

I've just had the printer a short time, but it meets all the criteria I needed. I had a few problems at first with the settings for "copy" but, when I finally figured it out, it's wonderful.
