The Lexmark Z705 can handle a wide variety of media types and sizes, up to 8.5 by 17 inches, including transparencies, labels, many envelope sizes, Japanese Hagaki and Kakugata, as well as the usual letter, legal, and executive sizes. All media input is directed through the auto-sheet feeder on the top of the printer, which accommodates up to 100 sheets of paper or 10 envelopes at a time.

Maximum print speeds are rated at 17 ppm for black, 10 ppm for color (both in draft mode), and resolutions can be as fine as 4,800 x 1,200 dpi on photo paper, or up to 2,400 x 1,200 dpi on other paper types.

The Lexmark Z705 offers standard USB connectivity for both PC and Mac users (USB cable not included), while optional networking and wireless support is available with the separate purchase of Lexmark's N1 Ethernet Adapter or N5 Wireless Adapter. The Lexmark Z705 comes backed by a one-year warranty on parts and labor.

I agree with the other reviews this print is not good........2007-02-05

Its been about a 1 year and half that I have had this printer and I must say I am very displeased. The first few months of this printer was great! It was fast and print quality was excellent, but that didn't last long. After those few months, this printer started to have major problems. First when printing in quick, better, etc the quality was extremely awful. Left streaks everywhere, like I said, even in better quality. Maybe around the 2 or 3rd try the printer would start to print normally. Want good quality images? Don't do it with this one. It won't give you a single decent picture. Did I mention this thing sucks up ink like there is no tomorrow? Its seems every month, (even on normal print use) I have to buy an ink cartridge. I love lexmark you know, but this printer just plain sucks. We have another lexmark printer in our house which is excellent, but this one is just blah! Don't buy it...even for a dollar. Its just not worth it!

Costly to run.......2007-02-02

In our experience, this printer runs fine. The problem is that ink seemingly cartridges last about two minutes. And the ink cartridges, at this point, have run us far more than the printer did in the first place! When as and if we get a replacement for this machine, it won't be from Lexmark.

Lexmark makes lousy products.......2006-12-28

I've owned two Lexmark printers, and both of them did not last two years. One had problems after 3 months of usage--would not print in black ink. The other one lasted two years, and it also stopped printing in black ink. I've tried installing new cartridges, and I've tried their ink nozzle cleaning program on numerous occasions--it doesn't help to fix the problem. I will never voluntarily buy a Lexmark product, ever again.

high maintenance.......2006-05-03

Don't buy this - yes, it's cheap, but unless you like babysitting your printer by feeding each sheet in by hand, you're better off spending a few more bucks and getting something that works.

Economical and Long Lasting.......2006-04-20

This printer has lasted a long time. I've had several HPs that jammed then died within six months of purchase, but this printer is a workhorse. It has been overused for three years now and still has great quality. I find the ink cartridges extremely simple and quick to change out. My only problem with the printer is that the color of printing on envelopes is sometimes a little funky (brownish), rather than the black it should be.

High Color Ink Use.......2005-01-31

I've only had mine for one year and only used it for photos. At first it printed well, but the paper feeder is hard to set and often misfeeds (more than one page at a time). The ink in the color cartridge dried up quickly and replacements are expensive. I've had a lot of problems with this one and even though their customer service responds quickly, they didn't always address the issue I was experiencing. I would not buy this brand again.

I have used my z705 for less than two months. The reason I gave it any stars is because the print quality is quite good for a disposable printer. Unfortunately, the black ink cartridge runs out quickly and replacements are overpriced. This is the second Lexmark I have ditched and purchased a Canon i560 instead.

You are better off buying another brand of printer than feeding the overpriced Lexmark cartridges to this printer.

Great printer for the price.......2004-03-11

Setup is fast and easy. The printer is reasonably fast and very quiet. Even without the special photo ink cartidge, photos printed on glossy paper look great. Printed text looks fine, too. It's a great little printer.

Low price, good quality, easy setup.......2003-10-14

This is a compact and fast little printer. I use Windows XP Pro, and the setup was practically instantaneous; I've never seen setup instructions with no words, just diagrams, before, but it worked flawlessly first time.

The construction is reasonably robust -- not too plasticky. The footprint is about 18" by 9" with the feed racks pulled in, but realistically you need about 18" wide by at least 10-12" deep -- the front rack, which gathers the paper, can stick off the table OK. The footprint is 18" by 18" with both racks pulled out. The cartridges snapped in perfectly; everything worked fine immediately. The paper feed is not finicky at all and aligned the paper perfectly.

The only criticism I have is simply that this is an inkjet and so without special paper (and even with) it's just not as precise as a laser. I printed out a couple of text pages: the text looked solid and black until I got up fairly close. There was just a tiny hint of fuzz on the diagonals, when I squinted, and a magnifying glass confirmed what I thought I saw -- the line is a little blurry.

The colour is strong and clear, and as precise as the black.

A couple of other points to note: the installation process will make this your default printer. That may well be what you want (it wasn't, for me), but if not then don't forget to go back and reset the system default via Start -> Printers. And secondly, note that Amazon also sells this with a USB cable for just one more dollar; this model doesn't have the cable, so get the other one if you don't have a cable to hand. Search for Z705 if you can't find the other one.

This is a great inkjet printer; for the price, this is as good as you're going to get.

Awesome prints, awesome price!.......2003-10-13

Best printer I've ever bought, at the best price I've ever paid! Prints gorgeous borderless 4x6 prints, especially with the Photo cartridge (not included). Printing photos on regular paper don't generally come out looking all that great, however. But for photo printing with glossy paper, and general web page printing is lightning fast in Quick Print mode. Would highly recommend to anybody who doesn't print often, but who needs good photo quality.
