    The mouse worked perfectly up until today when the scroll wheel stopped responding. Still works when you press the wheel but no longer works "as a wheel". The rest of the mouse still works including that pointless rear facing LED which does nothing at all

    I bought this mouse due to the rave reviews here at Amazon. Prior to this I was using the smaller brother to this mouse, the basic optical mouse. However, the basic optical mouse has major problems. You have random skipping when you don't even move the mouse and it was just a PITA. I finally decided to invest in three of these. I plan to invest in three more. This mouse works without any drivers. I use these mice on laptops since I dislike using the actual track pad. I haven't had any issue so far. You won't be sorry by investing in this mouse. Stay away from it's smaller brother, the basic optical mouse.

    The MS Wheel mice as a family are your basic optical mouse, with two buttons and a scroll wheel that can be set as the third button. While I did not test this on a Mac, for the PC it is thoughtfully equipped with plugs for either USB or PC2 connections.

    The fact that it has no special features is bad for gamers, good for 'the rest of us'. I find that the fewer options on the equipment, the less there is to stick, break, or (in the case of mine) fewer button combinations to accidentally push. Personally, I also prefer a corded mouse as there's no need to buy batteries.

    It's also a classic 'middle of the road' mouse in that it's medium in size and weight, and will fit in most people's hands. What sold me on this mouse versus other comparably priced mice were two features. First, the part of the mouse on the buttons and top have a somewhat textured feel, which is pleasant to touch compared to the more common slick flat surfaces. Second, the scroll wheel turns smoothly with mild "clicks" so that you have a tactile and audible gauge for scrolling when reading a long web page or document.

    Some final notes:

    1) The black rubber pads on the bottom can come off over time, if it bothers you a dab of superglue will fix 'er up.

    2) If you dislike the grimy look of mice after grubby hands have been on it, the black color will hide the dirt a while longer. :-)

    3) Finally, be sure to actually curl your hands around the mouse in a store before you buy - I've found that people with small hands and/or wrists would rather opt for a more lightweight mouse that this one; people with larger hands or who do fine detail work would probably be better off with one of the king-size mice, perhaps one with a thumb-mounted trackball.

    My personal favorite mouse to use with a laptop, or for people with smaller hands is the Logitech V450 Cordless Laser Mouse. It has the same characteristics as this mouse (nice feel, scroll button clicks) in a smaller, wireless package.

    I purchased this optical mouse and have been extremely, extremely pleased with it. I love how it performs, and I also like it's appearance as well. It is very comfortable to use, and I have not had one problem with it yet. I believe that it is an terrific optical mouse, especially for how much it costs--it is quite a good value. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a affordable optical mouse.

    Unless I'm missing something, I don't see how many of these mice you get in the "multi-pack". After a Google search, looks to be "5". This is a pretty glaring omission,IMO.

    Haven't used this product yet, after picking a couple of these up locally on sale for around $13 ea., but generally speaking, MS produces pretty good quality components, so I expect this product to work well.

    An old joke, but a good one. The ball-less mouse is awesome! It can be ported to the usual mouse plug in slot (uhh, my brain isnt working the way it used to, PS/2?) or to USB. As I have USB 2.0 on my mobo, (lots and lots of USB slots) this was a nice and fast option.
    It is incredibly fast, (adjustable, of course) and already, within two days, I can see the AMAZING difference between my old mouse Microsoft IntelliMouse 1.2A PS/2.
    The balls arent there to collect fur, hence it will awalys stay fresh and fast (without, as so many of us are used to, having to 'shave our mice' or take the roller ball cover off and get tweesers out to get the grunge out *ick! do my hands really get covered in that crud? No wonder I get colds from my children!).

    This mouse has a LOT of options for tweaking, if you like that sort of thing, or can be used straight up as a one wheel, two click mouse. I LOVE IT.

    I WILL NOT GIVE IT BACK.

    THIS MOUSE IS GREAT. IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT BUYING IT, DO SO!

    This is the best mouse I've owned. I tried the wireless rat and it did not meet the reliability standards with the batteries and inconsistent operability. This optical wheel mouse works beautifully with the smoothest scroll wheel going. I switch back and forth between left and right hands for ergonomic reasons. The symmetrical design facilitates this practice nicely.

    I have used this mouse for over a year with Windows 98SE and Windows XP Home. I was a bit surprised that XP had no driver update, but it works fine just the same. I have yet to find a superior mouse. Trust me, I have looked. I recommend this product without any hessitation to anyone looking to replace the traditional mouse. It functions even without a mouse pad. I doubt that there is a better product out there.

            Microsoft has replaced that old-fashioned mouse ball with the Wheel Mouse Optical featuring an IntelliEye optical sensor that provides smooth and precise motion. Without a mouse ball, there are no moving parts to clean or wear down. The IntelliEye optical sensor is sealed in to keep out the dirt and lint that can cause a traditional mouse to skip or jam.

            The Wheel Mouse Optical comes with a scroll wheel for scrolling and zooming. Move through documents by simply rolling the wheel forward or backward, instead of clicking on a scroll bar. Use the wheel to see either close-up or big-picture views without having to use menus or toolbars (in compatible applications). The mouse also features an ambidextrous design for comfort. Whether you are left-or right-handed, or have a large or small hand, the design of Wheel Mouse Optical feels comfortable.

            The Wheel Mouse Optical's IntelliEye optical sensor scans the desktop 1,500 times per second, delivering smooth, precise motion on virtually any surface, even through dirt, dust, and fingerprints. The IntelliEye sensor performs best on surfaces with detail to track. It will not function on surfaces without visible detail (e.g., glass) or surfaces where it will see its reflection (for example, mirrors or glossy surfaces). The sensor may also have difficulty tracking on highly repetitive patterns (for example, some printed photographs from magazines or newspapers).

            I bought this mouse in Feb. 06 and loved it until this week. Simple to use, good for a left-hander, cheap, etc. However, it's now driving me crazy and I think I have to run out and buy a new mouse. For a few days it's been blinking/flashing and behaving erratically--rebooting or unplugging and replugging the USB cord seems to help temporarily. Now it's not blinking anymore but it isn't highlighting my text properly. It's just enough "off" to disrupt my work. So I'm not sure I can recommend this mouse.

            This is by far the best mouse I've ever used. I have one at work and one at home. It glides smoothly on just about any surface but if you want the best control and feel use a mouse pad. The only caveat is you can't use it on a mirror or clear glass surface. That's not a problem for me and I'll never go back to the old ball mouse.

            This mouse is great. It fits my hand perfectly, and is smooth when I move it. The only issue i've had with it is when I move it really really fast. Granted, this doesn't happen much, but when I need it (during game play) the mouse makes a wierd zig zag pattern. Totally messes me up. But as far as optical mice go, all have this problem. Another thing that bugs me, is that red light shines through the cracks around the scroll wheel. Not really a problem, but just bugs me because this wierd "Y" shape shines on my monitor or speakers.

            Besides those two pitfalls, it is awesome! I got this version rather than the 5 button version for one reason. I don't need the other 2 buttons (thumb and ring finger/pinky). I would never use them. So I saved myself the 15 bucks, and got myself a sweet piece of hardware.

            This is the best mouse I have ever used, it moves smoothly, works with my USB ports, works on both my PC and Mac, works really good without a mouse pad or a one level everywhere area to put it on, but best of all, you don't have to clean it.
            I've had mine for a few months now, and the most I've had to do to clean it was, nothing! :)
