Compaq Evo T30 Thin Client ( 238618-001 )
Manufacturer: Compaq
Product Type: CE
Editorial Review:
Product Description
The Compaq Evo Thin Client T30 is a thin client that connects over a network to a server running with or without Citrix MetaFrame software. This combination of client and server solution is referred to as thin client server computing. But the thin client is just one part of that overall solution. It only processes keyboard and mouse input and screen output, leaving all application processing and storage to the servers.Compaq thin client solutions can allow companies to dramatically lower the costs associated with their client/server infrastructure. Unlike a traditional PC with high-speed processors and data storage, these terminals are optimized to act solely as windows to the server where users' applications and data reside. Instead of applications running on individual PCs, all applications are run from a single server or group of servers, greatly simplifying the administration and support needed to run an IT department. While some knowledge workers truly need the processing power of a PC (such as engineers, designers, or financial traders), most workers perform task-oriented, transactional functions in environments, which would be ideal for the Compaq Evo Thin Client T30.
