For the Money it is a sound buy and it has the essential to get you started. All you really need is a Montor and maybe a printer and scanner. all can be brought for less than 200.00. For 339.00 it's a good starter PC for a Novice or a student to use for just about anything. I have built 6 PC's myself so I would buy it for myself if I were intereted in another PC.

...it's the best deal i've seen in a long time. after having and returning two hewlett packards in less than 6 weeks, this eMachines was a relief! it's simple, not loaded witt too much additional junky... software, but has great specs; dvd player and a fast cd-rw. the only drawback was the 128mb memory, but i upgraded by adding an 256mb ...

in short, if you can find this PC, BUY IT! it's great. i've had no problems. thanks eMachines!

It features a 1.8 GHz Athlon XP processor, 60 GB hard drive, 256 MB of installed RAM, a combo DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive, and Windows XP Home operating system.

The Basics

Hard Drive: The 60 GB hard drive (7200 RPM) is slightly below average in size when compared to other budget-minded desktop PCs. It will provide decent storage space for your family digital photos as well as a large digital audio library--but it's not quite enough for editing digital video from camcorders.
Processor: Because it gets more done per clock tick, this 1.8 GHz processor delivers similar performance to a 2.6 GHz Intel Pentium 4. It has a front-side bus of 333 MHz and an L2 cache of 256 KB. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance.)
Memory: The 256 MB of installed RAM will get you started, but you'll want to add more to handle any kind of multimedia application and most business productivity suites. This desktop has a 2 GB maximum RAM capacity.
CD/DVD Drive: This desktop includes a speedy combo DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive, with 40x write, 16x rewrite, and 40x read speeds for CDs and 16x read speed for DVDs.
Keyboard & Mouse: The T2260 comes with a standard Windows keyboard and two-button mouse.

Screen, Graphics and Sound
Video and graphics are provided by the S3 ProSavage8 graphics chip, which borrows up to 32MB of video RAM from main memory. It also feature integrated audio (AC97) and an internal mono speaker.

Connectivity and Expansion Slots
The T2260 has a basic set of external ports:

6 USB 2.0 ports (4 in rear, 2 in front) for connecting a wide range of peripherals--from digital cameras to MP3 players
1 parallel port
1 serial port
3 free PCI slots

It includes an integrated 56K modem (V.90) and an RJ-45 LAN network port (for a 10/100 Ethernet connection to networks and DSL/cable modems).
