The Samsung SyncMaster 172T is a 17-inch TFT-LCD monitor that delivers high performance and advanced functionality. Part of Samsung's exciting new T series, the 172T delivers the highest quality images possible with dual analog and digital source input, producing flicker-free video with razor-sharp clarity and vibrant color. The SyncMaster 172T delivers a 500: 1 contrast ratio, pixel pitch of 0.264mm, 1280 x 1024 maximum resolution, a scanning frequency of 30-81 kHz horizontal and 56-75 Hz vertical, and a horizontal/vertical viewing angle of 170?/170?. The monitor, designed to meet any user's needs, also features a new slim design with height, depth and tilt adjustments up to 90?, a retractable base, and a bracket for wall mount capability. Input connectors for the 172T include 15-Pin D-Sub and DVI-D. Input video signals include Analog RGB and DVI Digital Link. Available in color combinations of black/black or silver/black, the 172T delivers a maximum of 16.7 million colors. The monitor supports PC/Windows, Macintosh and Sun Microsystems.

Great value, great design!.......2003-07-23

I heard that Samsung was stepping up their line of LCD monitors. What I love about this product:

1. Dual Interface: Analog/DVI
2. Hinge design - this thing can fold down flat and the profile is awesome
3. Looks great! I have the silver one and generally has small footprint on my desk.
4. Automatic adjustment, under analog - under DVI everything is pretty much automatic
5. Solid design!

No complaints and no problems. Next time I may target the 19".

Great Monitor, a little [more money].......2003-04-15

Got this monitor about 4 months ago and it has worked quite well. Its a bit [more money] but comes with a few more features than most. It has the DVI connection as well as the standard. One of the advantages of this is that you can connect two computers to monitor and just switch between sources with the button on the front. The clearity of the images are terrific, i am not exactly a video-phile but i have not noticed any negitive attributes. I have never watched a full length movie but movie clips like previews for instance play quite well and there is not any noticable lag in color change. Its probably not worth the price if you dont have the dvi connection for you computer, but it certainly increases the quality.
