4 out of 5 stars Been an ok computer.......2007-02-10

Well I have the GT5012 and so far I have had problems with the darn thing ever since Gateway shipped it back to me after they fixed it! Not only did they ruin the back of the computer and not welling to do anything about it, but the on board HD Intel Audio board sucks badly it doesn't even do true sourrand sound and I don't care what they say on their website(intel) it doesn;t work. Prior to shipping it back to gateway I still had problems with it locking up and rebooting..

But it does run Windows Vista 32-bit quiet well, I never tried the 64-bit yet, but so far it does a good job on deceting new cards that are added, even CD-Roms and the connectors in the back works good!

Oh yeah the on board graphcis also from Intel, don't use it get a video card instead cause the onboard one it doesn't do 3D at all or any thing that ATI cards can do!

Other then that it has served me well so far and the Serial connectors do come in handy to added at least another DvD ROm that is built for Serial connectors. Oh yeah
the one thing i did find out about this computer:

you can only have 2 internal hardrives in this computer case! If you want a 3rd one it has to be external.

And also gateway puts in also a very cheezy CD-ROm drive for the 2nd player.. worth replacing with an actual DVD Drive.

2 out of 5 stars very bad support services from Gateway.......2006-08-14

I bought a similar computer to this one and have had problems with the keyboard functioning intermittently. I returned the first one I bought and was given another but the problem exists with this one too. I called Gateway on the first one and was told that they could send me a box and it would take 3 to 4 weeks to fix or I could go to the store and buy a new keyboard at my expense! When I complained about that the tech said he could no longer talk to me if I refused to except those options for a computer I had 1 day! and he hung up on me. The web site for support is useless also. I will never buy another gateway product. Do yourself a favor and buy and HP or a Sony I have owned both and wish I had bought another instead of this.

4 out of 5 stars Great computer.......2005-12-21

Hello. So far, this has been a great computer. It is now 2 months and it works very well. I use many products at the same time (including background stuff like antivirus, antispyware, sw firewall) and the performances are amazing. I really like this machine.

1 out of 5 stars Average Computer but NO Support.......2005-11-18

I recently purchased this computer and I would rate it as average for the price range if Gateway would support their products. In my case, the problem was an error message that "Intel Audio Studio does not support the board connected". The web site listed in the error message did not exist. Gateway's download link for the current audio driver did not function. I tried to email Gateway, but their email form required a product serial number and did not provide a place to enter it. I phoned Gateway, but was told that since I did not purchase my computer from Gateway, I had to call a different number. Gateway did not answer at that number, but if you like to listen to loud music via long distance, you can call their retail support. I tried to vent by rating their customer service online, but that page also requires a serial number and has no provision for entering it. The bottom line is that you should try contacting Gateway technical support before buying their products.
