The Hardware is actually very good. This card works perfectly with Windows MCE 2005/Vista Home Premium. The picture is sharp and clear, the channels switch quickly... It does what it's supposed to and does it well.
Hardware: 5 stars.

The "Free" Remote is NOT "Free". You have to send them an inflated S&H charge for it to be sent to you. The actual Remote works OK and seems well made once it arrives. By the way, if you buy more than one TV Wonder, they will refuse to send you a 2nd "Free" remote unless you argue the point with a representative.
"Free Remote" Fiasco: 2 Stars. (only because it is a nice remote)

Software: This is the REALLY BAD part. The included Catalyst Media Center software is so bad that it is no longer supported with no updates available for DL at ATI's site. What is on the disk is what you get. The software can cause various system problems, and is nearly impossible to completely remove once installed.
On a Fresh Install of Windows it wouldn't work correctly and the only way I found to stop the errors it caused was to do another fresh install.
You would be best advised to consider CMC as MALWARE.
Software: ZERO Stars.

As long as you have your own TV/PVR software such as Windows MCE or Vista, this is great Hardware. The "Free" Remote is NOT MCE compatible, so there would be little point in paying for it.

It is not great thing... it does not worth the money. The ATI fame did not satisfy me this time. It gets stuck often, the image is not great deal, ther is no remote, the software catalysis is extremely bad...
I should have bought a terminator, you get the same (and an extra remote) for a fraction of the cost.

I had an ATI card in my old computer that included a TV tuner. I have just purchased a new machine (my old one died) and decided to add the ATI TV Wonder 550 PCI card. My new computer runs Windows MCE 2005. I was able to load the ATI drivers after three unsuccessful attempts. I could not load ATI's Media Center from the installation CD. I tried downloading a newer version from ATI but it would not install. I attempted to contact ATI several times but they never responded. I have given up and ordered another brand TV tuner card.

I work on windows xp sp2, and in fact it was me bad I have tried to install it but he enters in conflict and it doesn't allow to install the controllers it asks me him to move away the previous controllers and I make it but it is not allowed to configure with controllers standar VGA and therefore it has not been possible to install. I disappoint myself since I have always used ATI, therefore I had to reinstall the old ATI 9700 Pro 128

Expect no free lunch.......2007-05-21

My employer replaced our server about ten days ago. I was the recipient of a Dell Precision 530 running Windows 2000 Server with a fried video card. So I dropped an old Matrox video card into a vacant PCI slot and my old hard disk into the secondary position and ran one 17" CRT after installing needed applications on the primary. I need two screens to do my job properly, so I bought the Radeon X1650 Pro 512 AGP...and crossed my fingers.

Amazon came through for me like clockwork, BUT the card I received split DVI and VGA (not dual DVI). That was my first hurdle, easily overcome with the enclosed adaptor; just a minor disappointment.

After removing a ventilation cowl from the computer, the Radeon fit neatly in the AGP slot; BUT no video output from the DVI port. Downer #2. A little back and forth with ATI via website and telephone proved conclusively that I was totally ON MY OWN having already downloaded and installed all the likely Microsoft and ATI frame-support and current drivers:
"Windows 2000 Server is not a supported operating system for this product, and combination with the card you've purchased is entirely discretionary on the part of the enduser." (That's a paraphrase.)

Presently, I'm running both 17" analog monitors from the VGA port on my discretionary AGP blunder and the old Matrox in its PCI location. The Display>Settings dialogue lets me position the monitors just like I want them, and I dread only the necessity from time to time to reboot.

WISHFUL THINKING: Amazon might have indicated that the card I bought would not be DVI + DVI. The labor-intensive process of selecting accessories would be GREATLY simplified if somebody (maybe Microsoft) created a search engine for upgrades that allowed consumers to enter existing hardware and software, add information concerning what we want to do (today AND tomorrow) and let the engine list all available upgrade-probabilities of successful outcomes (regardless of proprietary considerations) so that we get (with our eyes wide-open) what we pay for, install the sucker, and still have time to go buy lunch.
Crossed fingers and elbow grease are not presently optional, they're mandatory.

The best video card I can use.......2007-05-14

This is a very good video card. It's not the fastest in the world, but it is definitely at the top of the heap for an AGP model card.

I want to get a new 30 inch monitor and both of the ones I am considering require a video card with a dual link DVI-D port. I also game a lot so it needed to be a good 3D accelerator. There are some great ones out there, but they were mostly PCI express cards and my current gaming rig still only has an AGP slot. I don't want to build a new rig until next year, so I was looking for a good card I can use with my current system.

All of the reviews I saw said this card is the best AGP part on the market and it looks like they were correct. When I installed it and started trying various games, I was able to increase the resolution and turn on more of the bells and whistles that games supported. I didn't get the new monitor right away, but with this card once I get it I should be able to enjoy it a lot until I build a new computer.

I was looking for a video card because I was in the process of upgrading an older computer and I had installed the ATI HDTV Wonder TV card. I chose the ATI video card figuring that I would try to avoid any compatibility issues. The ATI Radeon X1650 was the latest 8X AGP card that I could find. The card definitely improved the graphics, however I was unable to install the software provided and had to download the software and drivers from the website. The install from the website was not a problem just an extra step. I have been using the card several months now and the picture and colors are noticeably better, however my computer occasionally crashes when I use the TV function causing me to uninstall and reinstall the graphics drivers.

Almost works.......2007-05-07

I had a hard time installing the drivers. I'm using Win XP with a dual-core Athlon system. I finally "tricked" the system into installing the driver, using a work-around I found on the company web site. The card works beautifully in games and other rendering.

Unfortunately, it also has serious problems. Any video in Quicktime is jerky. I have to reboot to get a movie to play smoothly, and then it's still a little problematic. I didn't have this problem with my previous, slower card with less memory.

Also, there is something wrong with the driver's digital rights management, and Media Player refuses to play any DVDs with it.

I think if the drivers had installed correctly, maybe I wouldn't be having problems.

Pretty Good.......2007-04-26

My former system which is 3 years old have a system rating index of 2.1 with VISTA that I installed. That have gone up with the ATI video card to 4.3. thats the lowest I have on the scale and that is from the 3.2 gighertz HT. The Aero index is now at its highest possible at 5.9 and the gaming is now at 4.8 (up from 3.0). For the price my system has greatly increased in performance. Flight Simultor X is better (not terrific), Doom 3 is now running like a champ as well as other 3D games such as Need For SPeed underground 2. I have my plama connected for extended display, meaning two monitors can be used at the same time.

Strongest in the $100 Range.......2007-04-07

While I still have to receive my 2nd card from Amazon to complete the Crossfire, I have to admit that this card is pretty impressive.

This is indeed the strongest and unbeatable card available in $100+ range here on Amazon, as well as Tigerdirect. It can only be beaten by the Sapphire Radeon 1950x Pro, which is only $189 and available on Newegg.

Installs like a charm: card is not too long, not too thick and not too heavy but it does require quiet some power in order to run in all of it's glory.

It is a little bit loud but if you are not the kind of person who sleeps in the same room while downloading things at night then the loudness will not be a problem.

Games like HL2, BF2 and Call of Duty run very impressively. Doom 3 and even 2003's Graphic-Hungry Jurassic Park Operation Genesis run on high settings without a problem.

I purchased this card not for gaming but mostly for working in 3D applications such as Bryce and Vue, as well as Photoshop and Cinema 4D. So far one of these cards is doing amazing job. When I receive my 2nd one the power will be even greater.

If you are tight on budget and want a great, stable gaming performance then this card is for you.

ATI Radeon x1650 Pro... You can't go wrong with that.

A Great Graphics Card.......2007-02-12

This ATI X1300 is a great graphics card. It has a great performance for gaming. I play Half Life 2 at very high settings (not full, but still high), and Halo 1 at full settings. I recomend this card because is really affordable and has a great performance.

This card is excellent!... good price, I'm a gamer so a run a lot of games on this card.. no problem at all. I play DVDs no ploblem, easy to install.
I think that this video card is for the next level gamer... for some games.. an ATI 9250/9550 is not enough, so.. you need this card!

CrossFire: Twice the Fun
With the purchase of a X1300 CrossFire Edition card, your X1300 can be upgraded to take advantage of ATI's CrossFire technology, giving you twice the power to throw at the most demanding games. Based on the same technology used with ATI-based commercial flight simulators, CrossFire soars into a new dimension of graphics capability with multiple graphics processing units (GPUs) working together in your PC. With two X1300 cards installed in your PCI Express-based PC, you can choose from three operating modes. First, Alternate Frame Rendering mode balances GPU tasks between the two cards for optimum performance. There's also a multiple load-sharing Scissor mode for compatibility with all games, as well as a Supertiling mode that divides the screen into multiple sectors that are selectively targeted by the two GPUs, offering the best load balancing between them. Note that to take advantage of CrossFire your computer must have a motherboard that is CrossFire-ready. The Radeon Xpress 200 CrossFire Edition and Intel i955X based dual-slot motherboards are supported platforms.

Not compatible with Vista.......2007-06-02

As of June 2007, many of ATI's products (including the ATI Radeon x1300 Pro) remain incompatible with Vista. Now understand, ATI will claim that it is compatible but buyer beware because once installed with Vista your machine may essentially become unusable. The problem stems from the software drivers that ATI has made available for their products, with the latest being Catalyst 7.4. The software drivers are extremely buggy and there are many, many users who are pulling their hair out because of poor customer service in resolving these issues. Note, most of these bugs, including a broadly experienced problem where a system process known as ATIMKDAG.sys fails, have been oustanding and unresolved by technical support since Vista was first released. Beware ATI's products until they can fix their software for Vista, I advise that you go with Nvidia for the time being.

I suggest that interested buyers do a few internet searches on the ATIKMDAG issues that users are having with Vista to see if it has been resolved before purchasing what is a defective product, in my experience.
