Product Description
Compaq's most popular thin client, the T1010, is the ideal way for IT managers to simplify the management of their computing environment. Whether lowering the total cost of ownership or easing the burden placed on an understaffed network administration department, the T1010 provides a robust set of features to help achieve the firm's business objectives. The Compaq T1010 Windows-based terminal simplifies network administration and lower ownership costs.A Windows-based Terminal or thin client is a client device that connects over a network to a Windows NT Server running Windows 2000 or NT Terminal Server Edition or either of those operating systems with Citrix MetaFrame software running atop the server OS. This combination of client and server running a thin client solution is referred to as Thin Client Server Computing. The thin client is but one part of that overall solution. Unlike a traditional PC with high-speed processors and data storage, these terminals are optimized to act solely as "windows" to the server where users' applications and data reside. Instead of applications running on individual PCs, all applications are run from a single server, greatly simplifying the administration and support needed to run an IT department.
