4 out of 5 stars Paperless.......2007-04-15

Pros: Price. Great design, I put it next to my 1717S which now looks like carved from wood next to this baby. Portrait capable, I don't think I saw anybody mention this here! This is may be the main reason for me to buy it, great for reading PDF full screen, no need to print or scroll! DVI!
Cons: Dithering! Very disappointing but this monitor offers 6 bits per color channel as opposed to 8, which therefore causes bad dithering, it somewhat reminds me of my old matrix printer. What is the point of the DVI in this case I really don't know! 1st I thought it was the XP color profile, but the I tried it under SuSe and the same story. Just got to let this one slide.
Other Thoughts: Great for casual use, somewhat old model, with one flaw and no dead pixels. Would not use it as primary monitor however, and wouldn't recommend it if not in a dual configuration.

5 out of 5 stars Very Nice Monitor.......2005-12-28

This monitor has been great from the start. Colors are bright and vibrant, no ghosting, and a very even backlight dispersion. I only have one small quibble with this unit. First the touch sensitive adjustment buttons are out of sight and tightly spaced. This is a problem for my clumsy fingers which inevitably send things awry. I also wish that the rotation software wouldnt screw up some videogames. Instead of the game just starting normally, it would just boot to a black screen. Unistalling the Forte software fixed the problem, so I am blaming it. (I have an ATI X800 XT PE and latest drivers as much as possible)

5 out of 5 stars Great monitor.......2005-10-26

I'm very happy with the monitor. The only thing is that the height could be more adjustable, but not a big deal. Definitely worth the price

3 out of 5 stars forteManager software has issues.......2005-05-23

On the one hand-the monitor looks great, and 12ms is fast. And sure enough, the monitor autopivots. The forteManager color calibration software is easy to use to get the color and contrast right...BUT this software is apparently incompatible with the windows xp screen saver, pc dpms (power management) and NVidia desktop manager software. If u try to come back from your screen saver, you get the dreaded "Out of range error". So I called LG. They said that 1st of all LCDs dont need screen savers, cause they dont burn in and 2nd the monitor has its own power manager. So they said that i could turn off my screen saver and the pc power mgmt that turned off the monitor after 20 minutes. Sure enough they were right, by disabling all this, the monitor stopped hanging, and it powered down all on its own. The problem with that is that I liked my screen saver, screen savers have become more than preventing burn in, you put them up for example to cause a password screen to come up on re-entry. Also, I tried upgrading to forteManager 2.0 (1.01 came with the monitor) and when installed-it blasted all my sound card drivers, thankfully I had windows restore on. So I got the Samsung 711t (also from amazon) instead, and ill be writing a 4-star review on it.
