The WizCom SuperPen is a handheld scanner and translator. It includes the functionalities of WizCom's second-generation products, QuicktionaryII and QuickLink.

Scan and Translate
The SuperPen comes with over 30 downloadable language dictionaries, absolutely free! With these dictionaries, you can scan full lines of text, receive instantaneous word-by-word translation, and hear scanned English words pronounced aloud. By changing dictionaries as needed, you can recognize words almost anywhere in the world. Integrated text-to-speech technology pronounces new English words with confidence. These and other SuperPen Voice features have made this product the reading tool of choice for students and travelers alike.

Scan, Store, and Transfer
Capture essential printed data anytime, anywhere. The SuperPen can store over 1,000 pages of printed text, to be transferred to a PC, PDA, or any Windows application at your leisure. Users working with their computer can scan text directly into an application at its active cursor point. Collected data can be transferred to any Windows based applications seamlessly.

Excels at Mediocrity.......2004-04-01

This is neither a satisfactory product nor a helpful organization. The company is a study in mediocrity. Their website, although newly redone, ultimately isn't helpful at describing products or distingushing between products, their salespeople hardly know their product, their technical support are unhelpful novices. The better news is that the product somewhat works. On clean print, the product did scan well. Practice helps but you still need to concentrate on a perfect swipe. I was suprised that it scanned very small print and even worked with fast swipes. Ultimately between the futzing around with trying to get a perfect swipe, incomplete dictionaries, frequent pen reboots, I decided to return the product. In its present state, this pen is only good for a narrow group of uses. I am hopeful that a future generation of product will scan with less effort and have a complete dictionary. Bluetooth instead of IR would be very desireable. Hopefully they will get staff 2.0 too.
