Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Nice Phone.......2007-06-28

This phone has a nice, big, well illuminated caller ID panel, and the big buttons are nice. The speaker is clear. It has a flash button for call waiting or call transfer. The only thing I don't like is that it does not have a "hold" button - only a "mute" button, so you can't push hold, hang up the instrument, and pick it up on another instrument.

5 out of 5 stars Good phone at a good price........2007-06-27

I just bought this phone to keep in the house in case of a power outage.
However, I plugged it in and decided to leave it as bedroom phone and I'm very pleased with it. The feature that made me decide to buy this particular phone is that you can actually turn the ringer OFF. Most land-line phones allow you to lower the ring but not actually turn it off. This makes a great bedroom phone for that reason. It's there if you need it but the phone won't wake you with an unwanted call when the ringer is in the off position. Good price for a well-made phone that has caller ID as well.

3 out of 5 stars Instructions are in very small print.......2007-06-20

and that makes it difficult for someone who needs a large button telephone. I got mine yesterday and will have to find someone to install it for me.

4 out of 5 stars Good Phone.......2007-06-14

Nice large keypad, Led large and bright. I would buy another one.

1 out of 5 stars One serious flaw.......2007-06-13

I bought this phone for my elderly mother and it has many great features for her: easy to read large buttons, large caller id screen, easy volume controls. It should be the perfect phone for a person with sight limitations except that it has a very serious flaw that makes me recommend against buying it.

The hand set does not sit firmly in the base, making it very easy to hang up the phone and actually leave it off the hook. This has been a potential safety hazard for my mother and she had to stop using this phone to avoid going without phone service by not realizing that the phone was disconnected.

The Uniden TRU9496 is thoughtfully designed for small businesses or homes that find two separate phone lines to be one of life's necessities. The system is expandable to include a total of 10 handsets with charging cradles (available separately). Combining a traditional corded handset with a 5.8 GHz cordless handset, the Uniden TRU9496 offers cordless convenience when you want it, but will continue to provide basic phone service in the event of a power outage. Only the base system with the corded handset requires a phone jack; any additional handsets simply require an electrical outlet to connect the charging cradle. DirectLink two-way radio communication is built into each cordless handset and the base speakerphone, allowing them to function as an in-home intercom system or baby monitor. Redial any of the last three dialed numbers at the touch of a button, activate five-way conference calls or just enjoy the consistent, clear 5.8 GHz digital signal transmission. The base includes a fully digital answering system with up to 15 minutes of recording time. Additional features include an audible message alert, toll saver, remote message retrieval and a choice between personalized or prerecorded outgoing messages. With subscription to local service, the phone is compatible with Call Waiting Caller ID. It will display the name, number and date and time of each call on the backlit LCD, and will store up to 100 names with two numbers each, so you can return calls at the touch of a button. Even without Caller ID service, a phonebook stores 10 of your most frequently-dialed numbers. What's in the Box: Base with answering system, AC adapter, corded handset, charging cradle, cordless handset, telephone line cord, handset battery, battery cover, belt clip, printed user's guide, warranty card

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Great home/business/intercom phone system!.......2007-07-08

Replaced a Panasonic 2.4GHZ expandable system (that started failing miserably within 2 years) with this one and so far has been worth every penny. Needed a 2 line system, 1 line for personal use, 2cd line for home office. Originally purchased the base (with 1 included handset) and also purchased the waterproof handset TWX977 (see review), was so impressed I purchased 3 more regular handsets (TCX905) locally.

Since my purchase decision was primarily based on reviews here, I thought I would share my opinions as well.

1. Base phone AND handset clarity is excellent, I have a 2 story house (approx 3,500 sq ft) with the base unit in the lower (sub-basement) level. Reception has not been affected in the least in spite of a wireless home network and several home electronics near base. (extra handset in kitchen not affected by microwave or other appliances) Far superior than any previously owned phone equipment.
2. Handsets have great range, wandered out into back of yard whispering to husband "can u hear me now". approx. 75-100ft from base (with lots of wood decking and cement from basement) No static, no dropped calls
3. LCD lighting is highly visible, caller id shows up throughout phone ringing, ample time (mentioned because of a previous post)
4. Easy set up/phone registrations, easy menu items, phone book with 2 numbers per person great feature. Only drawback is, although you can copy an entire phone book to a new phone, you still have to program in the personal ring tones. Also, you have to erase all previous caller id's off each individual phone.
5. Being able to "name" each handset is handy when someone wanders off with a phone you know which room it belongs. Also, makes calling on intercom easier (unlike other phones we've had that only number the phones, you tend to forget which phone is where)
6. Caution on using the room monitor features, all phones default set to allow room monitoring, however, you can switch off the room monitor within each handset setup. (found this out after teens were eavesdropping in on mom and dad, luckily before any damage was done LOL)
7. As far as previous posts about the ring tone volume, haven't found it a problem. If you find a ring is too low (even on high volume) simply choose a different ring tone (some are WAY louder than others)

All in all, a great value for the price. Highly recommended for someone looking for a home business and personal phone/intercom system solution.

4 out of 5 stars Nice set of features with only one small wish and a small annoyance........2007-07-03

Uniden has done a good job with this phone. I like it very much with only one small wish: I wish it had a headset port and the ability to take it "off-the-hook" without actually lifting the handset.

I had been looking for a decent analog phone to replace my broken Contel that I wasn't happy with before it broke. After researching the available phones and based upon past experience with Uniden products (we own a couple of their 900MHz DSS phones for the house) I decided to go with this model. I have not been disappointed.

Now, to the annoyance: The ringer on both the included cordless and the base unit is not loud enough. Some nice tunes, but none of them really loud enough to be heard when asleep. As I used to be on-call quite a bit, this was an important feature. Now, I need it louder so calls from friends and family when I'm sleeping in on Sunday morning wake me up so I can answer.

2 out of 5 stars good phone...but some annoying features.......2007-06-07

If we didn't have an office environment this phone would be okay. It's super easy to set up and the reception is crystal clear. But I'm returning it because:

--the ringer on the base is completely annoying--shrill and excessive
--even though there's a "line-in use" feature to prevent jumping in on someone's private call by accident the system automatically defaults to conference mode when the 2 lines are busy...and unprofessionally, a 3rd phone user crashes your phone call.

5 out of 5 stars Very useful product!.......2007-05-20

I use this in my office and it's a wonderful and reasonably priced alternative to those expensive systems being sold for offices. I've had no problems with it and recently installed my second phone line which works just as well as the first line. Highly recommended! Oh I almost forgot, because the base doesn't need electricity to work even if there's a power cut you still have a working phone and therefore no need to buy an expensive UPS.

1 out of 5 stars Not worth the money!.......2007-05-15

unacceptable line static...sounds like a record player. I've tried moving the base and remotes all over the house and there is no difference.

The speakerphone is also weak. Compared to my old model Uniden Power Max, this one doesn't cut it. The old model had no static whatsover and was a 5.8 ghz also.

5 out of 5 stars AT&T 265 - Trimline Telepone with Caller ID & Call Waiting.......2007-06-27

I needed a no-frills caller ID wall-phone. This is exactly what I got. It will not stop working when the power goes out. No external power needed. Large numbers for the caller ID. I did not need a lighted display. I am very satisfied.

1 out of 5 stars I wasted my money on this one........2007-06-20

This phone lasted about two and a half months before the caller ID function failed. The retailer would not take it back, and, after four calls totaling about two hours of being on hold and speaking to "customer service," I first got the advice that I should attach another caller ID phone to the outlet or take my phone to someone else in my area code who has caller ID and ask that person to permit me to hook up my phone to see if the display worked. The best part of this advice is that I found a better phone at the same price. Assured that my caller ID function worked, I called "customer service" again and discovered that they wanted me to package the phone, ship it back to them, and wait six to eight weeks for a replacement. I do not recommend this phone, and I regret that AT&T has licensed its name to the company that manufactured this "product."

4 out of 5 stars Does the Job........2007-03-21

This phone mounts well on our kitchen wall and works fine. Only negative so far is that the hook that keeps the phone handset connected to the base seems pretty cheap.

5 out of 5 stars Love my phone.......2007-03-09

I bought the phone to replace a phone that broke and I'm glad I did. The phone was inexpensive and works great. Will definetly order from them again.

3 out of 5 stars Nice phone but hard to see Caller ID.......2007-01-23

I needed a wall phone with caller ID that you could see before picking it up so this seemed perfect since they are hard to find. However, the LCD is small and light, difficult to see. This is with the contrast adjusted as much as possible and fresh batteries. Otherwise a nice phone with a good concept.

5 out of 5 stars 992 2 line corded phone & caller id.......2007-07-03

Excellent functioning, easy to use 2 line phone. I wish it was made in the USA instead of made in China.

5 out of 5 stars 992 is a great phone.......2007-05-12

After frustrating experiences with both Polycom and Siemens phones not working correctly with caller ID, voice mail notification, etc, I was delighted to pick up a AT&T for less than half of the price of the other 2 line systems and find it worked perfectly.

I was concerned initially that voice mail detection didn't work, but after reading the manual and discovering that it is shipped as default off and turning it on everything is great.

3 out of 5 stars ok except for fast dialing..........2007-05-03

I use this with my Vonage line in my home office. I'm only using one line with the phone, but it's well behaved. Caller ID works fine, as does call waiting, etc. I agree with another of the reviewers that the mute function is a little strange. It mutes just fine, but it makes a little beep acknowledgement when you mute/unmute, which doesn't seem consistent with the idea of, um, muting. Programming speed dials was a little confusing at first, but not too bad.

My only real gripe with the phone is if you are fast with your fingers when dialing. I have to slow myself down and dial no faster than about one digit per second. So, 1-800-555-1212 would take you 10 or 11 seconds to dial. Otherwise it somehow mangles it and you get a phone co. response saying it doesn't understand the number you put in. Speeddials work ok, as does redial. And it does this on both vonage and my regular land line - so it's something with the phone. It can be pretty d*mn annoying, so you just have to learn to dial slowly.

3 out of 5 stars Good phone.......2007-03-31

I've used for a month now. All the other reviews seem to be dead-on.

Have been mostly pleased with the speaker phone. I have had a few instances where I have issues understanding people on it, they keep cutting in and out. I've about decided this is some sort of connection issue or maybe a combo effect of their speaker phone and mine. Not sure, it's not often, so when I start getting this sort of every other word effect, I just pick up the handset.

I haven't used half the features the phone has, but it's working great.

1 out of 5 stars Mine is junk.......2007-03-21

I would not take the chance and buy this phone. I bought 2 batteries for the phone as it always indicates the battery is low. Found out after further examination that the battery compartment does not fully close. I've tried all kinds of remedies including taping it shut. Nothing works. Now if I jiggle the battery compartment, the phone disconnects and "Power Failure" flashes. If I stand up or move the phone while talking to someone, the phone disconnects. Sometimes when I'm simply dialing a number it freezes and stops dialing. The red light indicating a new call has come in is always on. It does not flash when someone has left a message. It's going in the trash and I won't buy another AT&T phone.

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Cute Retro Phone.......2007-07-09

The Retro Phone is definately a cute design to look at and the detailing has been well thought out. However, from a practical point of view it is a bit lacking. The phone does not have any weight to it and moves around the table too much (partly because the cord is not quite long enough). If the phone had more weight and would stay in position, then the cord would stretch.
Also, because of the shape of the handset it is impossible to rest it in your neck, making it difficult to use your hand while talking.
I am keeping the unit because i don't use my land line all that much and it looks cute on my desk for the infrequent times that it is needed.

5 out of 5 stars COOL PHONE!!!.......2007-05-29

I purchase this phone for my bedroom so I would have a corded phone in the event of a power failure. It is very elegant and looks nice on my bedside table. works great and has great sound quality. Can't beat the price for such a unique looking phone either!!

4 out of 5 stars Adorable little phone..........2007-05-17

This compact, retro little corded desk phone is replacing a separate caller-id, call-waiting unit and larger retro-styled phone for my home office. It is quite small, freeing up valuable inches of desk real estate, and has a very clean design.

Push-buttons in a dial-like layout are fairly small (easy for my fingers, but perhaps a problem for larger hands) and the arc of feature buttons under the "dial" (flash, menu, delete, etc.) are even smaller. Again, once you get used to where they are, it was no trouble for me.

When a call comes in, the liquid crystal display in the center of the dial lights up in green (unit requires 3 AA batteries) so you can read the incoming call information. After about 5 seconds, the light in the display goes off, but a small red light above that panel continues to flash intermittently, to let you know you've missed a call. When you go to review your call history, the green light comes back on, to help you read the display.

The unit has the ability to automatically dial the missed call, plus the standard buttons to review and delete the phone numbers. You can also store memory numbers to any of your phone's number buttons, like any modern phone. There is a redial button, as well.

Pros:
Very small, corded, integrated unit has the keypad on the base, which I find more useful when working, than having to punch all the numbers into the handset (a la cordless models)
Inexpensive

Cons:
Rather a strange, high-pitched ringtone
Handset is very small, but still quite heavy

4 out of 5 stars Great phone for the price - no speaker though.......2007-06-10

This is a very reliable, easy to read phone (for all of you with aging eyes!)
My only problem is that is doesnt have a speaker - which of course is my fault for assuming and not checking. It has a very easy memory function, which I love. All around for the price, a great, reliable phone.

5 out of 5 stars Caller ID-No electric socket needed!.......2007-04-20

I selected this phone in order to provide caller ID in our kitchen. Our phone is mounted in a part of the kitchen that does NOT have a nearby electrical outlet that most of Caller ID phones require. This one operates on two AA batteries and is simple and easy to use. The only drawback is that when the phone is mounted on a wall surface there is a space of about 1/4 inch between the phone and the wall that is a bit unsightly when viewed from the side, but this is not a serious drawback.

Amazon.com Product Description

The 974 from AT&T is a four-line corded telephone with powerful features and reliable operation. Caller ID/call waiting compatibility and multi-user expandability to 16 stations (compatible with AT&T models 945 and 984 along with other 974 models) provide you with plenty of options.

Four-line operation, intercom function, and conference calling help you easily manage call flow from several clients, colleagues, and customers at once. For the busy office environment, a built-in speakerphone and headset compatibility allow you to comfortably communicate hands-free.

The 200-name-and-number phone directory helps you keep track of your important contacts, and a 32-number speed dial lets you quickly dial the most frequently used numbers. Two hundred caller ID locations are also provided, and incoming call information and most setup features are easily viewable on the built-in LCD.

A new-message indicator provides a visual alert to any new voicemail messages, while the redial feature lets you easily dial any of the last six outgoing numbers. Two data ports are integrated into the 947, allowing you to hook up peripherals, such as a fax machine or modem, with ease. You can install the 947 on any desktop, or mount it on the wall to free up space. The unit also comes backed with a one-year limited warranty.

4 out of 5 stars Works fine for us, with one exception.......2007-04-28

We use an AT&T 974 speakerphone in our small business. It works fine for us, and the built-in caller id display is a big help. It will even display incoming caller information when the line is in use, if you have the "caller ID on hold" feature from the phone company.

The only big drawback we've found so far is with the "hold" feature. When you put a call on hold and pick up on another extension which is not one of the compatible AT&T models, the AT&T 974 does not release the line. After the extension is hung up, the AT&T 974 keeps the line on hold for 30 minutes! AT&T says this feature only works properly with other compatible models made by AT&T. It's an inconvenience, to be sure, and for our household, where we have seven phones, a big investment which we haven't been able to justify yet.

5 out of 5 stars Great basic phone.......2007-03-26

I had several Verizon business lines setup with Centrex and this phone allows me to route up to four lines through it, with different settings for each (different rings, or even no rings), it shows caller id data, tracks calls, and has all of the basic features you would want in an office phone (speakerphone, DND, autodial, headset out, etc).

I do not use this in a large environment, so I can't speak to how well it transfers calls or deals with that sort of life - I have a single small office and suits my needs well.

The only thing that I don't like about it is not really a fault of the phone, it is a fault of my own for not looking for a phone with it in the first place - but I want a phone that can talk to my computer. Pass the caller id on to my computer, log, screen, etc - I am in the software business and would like more control over anything in my office.

This phone is basic, but has every feature a small office would need.

4 out of 5 stars Comments on hte phone.......2007-03-08

The phones are pretty good but I am having a little problem with a gate phone which I connected to one of the lines

2 out of 5 stars Speakerphone Problem on 4 of these.......2007-02-12

I have four ATT 974's. All the speakerphones cut in and out, making it impossible to have a conversation. Anyone looking to sit on conference calls will be disappointed. Other features are pretty good, but the speakerphone problem trumps the rest. I do not recommend this product, but good luck finding a decent one, I've tried many others with no satisfaction.

3 out of 5 stars Caller ID does not function well..........2006-12-21

I like the phone overall, but it has some weird problem with caller id not functioning properly. It is extremely unreliable.

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Sleek phone - Software Bugs.......2006-09-09

- I woke up one morning to find my two cordless units with message "Searching for Base"

- On the base unit, I hit the DEREGISTER ALL option

- The display unit of the answering base shows the following message:
E 2562
M51 S51 FDXI
May 15, 2002
14:12:06

All keys are totally dysfunctional. I tried plugging into a different location after 5 minute gaps and all other options.

CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSE:
They asked me to try plugging the answering machine base into other locations around the house after removing batteries from the cordless units.

Unfortunately I barely ran out of warranty to take advantage of the warranty replacement process.

Please advise if there is a fix for this.

I obviously misspent $199 + $75 for the second cordless unit.

2 out of 5 stars Expected better from AT&T.......2006-04-25

I actually find the sound quality and range pretty good, but I think the system is designed poorly. I can't tell you how many times I have been on the phone and wanted to scroll through my caller ID to get a number for someone I was talking to. No dice, it won't do that. There are a number of issues like that. I can't program it to prefer line 2 to make calls. You may think this is a not a big deal, except I don't like to reveal the line 1 number to my clients via there caller ID. So there went my private line.

Also the belt clip is worthless and after what seemed like hours on the customer support line they want to charge me $5.00 to replace it even though the phone is still under warranty. I'll try a different brand next time.

1 out of 5 stars Complete piece of S***.......2006-04-24

Sound quality is poor more than about 20' away. I had to the move the base to the center of the house (rather than the kitchen where we wanted it) to get it to work at all. I had to return a unit. Now I'm stuck with it sort of working but with clicky-popy sound. Don't buy this system.

3 out of 5 stars hmm.. so-so.......2006-02-25

For the price I paid ($145) this phone has a looot of shortcomings. For e.g., if you pick up the receiver, there's no way to press the redial option. The redial option is only available on the screen when the phone is on the hook. Secondly, if line 2 rings and you pick the phone up, it goes into line 1. Instead of line 2 (duh..)
The cordless has a very short battery life has to be constantly recharged!!
Also, if you have a power cut, both phones don't work. I bought this one thinking at least the corded phone would work (GE has a model like that) but unfortunately, I was mistaken.

It's a good phone all-in-all, and serves the purpose of a 2-line corded + cordless set, but it's overpriced. Next time I'm sticking with GE!

1 out of 5 stars Answering machine problems, miserable customer support.......2006-01-19

That's right, ANOTHER review that the answering machine hangs up in mid-call. Some days it's fine, most days it's not. This is the SECOND unit I've tried; BOTH units began exhibiting this problem after a month or so of service. It seems the problem begins as soon as you throw the packages away...

Additionally; -the handsets don't easily register button presses, which makes dialing many digits difficult. -the ink labels on the chrome buttons have worn off (one of them being "OFF"!). -line 1/line 2 selection on the base unit is not intuitive. This "feature" doesn't add any special function and is counter-intuitive. -the power button blinks constantly, reminding you that... wait! It doesn't remind you of ANYTHING. -the handset units can't initiate a voice page to the base without someone at the base to pick it up.

Customer support: AT&T's phone systems website does not provide any telephone #'s. Additionally, AT&T recently merged with SBC. Just great, since SBC has to be one of the WORST companies in regards to customer service. It took me 6 phone calls, which included at least 10 transfers, to find out they didn't know anything about the phone or whom to call for support. It took 45 minutes for me to learn that everyone at SBC/AT&T is clueless. One rep even said, "We make desk phones? Really?".

Sadly, it is obvious that AT&T & SBC don't rate customer support, satisfaction or product reliability very highly. What type of QA department overlooks a phone/answering machine that DOESN'T RECORD MESSAGES????

With a complete set of high performance features and expandable functionality, the Uniden TRU9488 offers a full set of convenient options for busy homes. Call Waiting Caller ID includes a 100-station memory (with subscription to local service) that allows names and numbers to be transferred between handsets or moved into the permanent 100-station speed dial. DirectLink two-way radio communication is built into each handset, allowing them to function as an in-home intercom system or baby monitor. Redial any of the last three numbers at the touch of a button, activate three-way calls or just enjoy the consistent, clear 5.8 GHz digital signal transmission.

This set includes one corded handset and one cordless handset with a separate charger; the system is expandable to a total of ten (additional cordless models available separately). You can transfer incoming calls between each handset, and make use of the convenient hands-free design by using the included belt clip and built-in headset jack (headsets available separately). A page button lets you quickly locate the cordless handset if it's strayed under the couch cushions.

Easily adjust handset and ringer volume levels to your comfort, and set the handset LCD menu to one of three menu languages (English, French, or Spanish). The base sits sturdily on a countertop, giving you plenty of display options, and a total of 20 different ring tones (10 tones, 10 melodies) give you a variety of choices. Uniden provides a one-year warranty covering parts and service.

5 out of 5 stars Love this Phone.......2007-06-08

`The ease of use is what I am most pleased about. The (DND) do not disturb button is a must for me, with all those early and late night telemarketers. The buttons on the phone feels good to the touch and I highly recommend this phone as a great value for all its features.

3 out of 5 stars NOT wall mountable.......2007-05-11

We purchased this phone based on it being a version of the highest rated phone by Consumer Reports and "Good Stuff-noreasonableofferrefused's" stating that it was wall mountable. The latter was entirely false. In no way is this phone wall mountable - the only disappointment. So far our cats have not bothered it but we are wondering where we will put it if they do. Otherwise this is a pretty good phone with exceptionally good sound quality. The three-star review comes because the inability to wall mount it is a major drawback.

5 out of 5 stars great phone.......2007-05-09

This phone is easy to install and set up, as are the extra hand sets - I bought 3 extra - and love the ring tones. Easy but time consuming to enter numbers into the memory, but what a convenience! One minor dislike: the symbols on the answering machine buttons are not familliar - took a few days of referring to the manual to remember which was for what. Have had no problems with this system and will highly recomend.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent.......2007-04-22

After returning two other phones that didn't do what they were supposed to do (or did it poorly), I was pleasantly surprised to find that this phone does everything advertised, and more. It is an excellent phone system.

However, I have a comment or two about some of the reviews here. Every "problem" posed here is covered in the owner's manual. I've checked. This includes wall mounting (it does) and message indicator muting (it will). However, you are required to actually READ parts of the manual. The index in the manual is very well laid out and every one of the answers I needed for the few potential problems I encountered was referenced in the index, and completely covered in the referenced page/pages. In fact, it is one of the easiest to read manuals I have come across in a long time. We're dealing with electronics here, boys and girls. This ain't a fast food drive-through. A fairly modest amount of thinking is required.

5 out of 5 stars I love these phones!.......2007-04-19

My partner/wife and I searched high and low for the right phone. We both needed phones with the following features:
* Do Not Disturb button (this was hard to find)
* Hands-free capability
* Big phonebook (somewhat hard)
* Caller ID (no brainer, these days)
* Good call quality (these were for our businesses)
* Phonebook with a good-sized name field (this one has 15 characters)

This phone also had a feature we hoped for, which was contacts that could have more than one number. Mine was this corded phone bundled with a cordless, which I don't see in the picture, but it's the same product number and the title of the product sounds right. I bought my phones at Staples. My wife bought the single cordless phone for her biz.

We bought and returned two phones each before these ones and we are *very* happy with them. Granted, we've only had them a few weeks, so take our review for what it's worth, but I'd recommend this phone any day.

1 out of 5 stars GE Corded Bedroom Phone with Call Waiting/Caller ID.......2007-07-04

I found this product to be quite bad. The dial is so dull even in a dark room that you cannot tell time. Quite bulky...am surprised that GE which usually makes good products still sells this "clunker"

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Buy.......2007-07-03

This product is excellent! Caller ID, phone, and alarm all-in-one. The backlight can be adjusted so that it doesn't bother light sleepers. The radio works great and sounds good for being an alarm clock. Overall, it's very easy to use and doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the features.

4 out of 5 stars Not bad at all for the money.......2007-03-20

I have read a couple of negative reviews but still bought this item. It works just fine. Not really delighted with the radio reception, however. It seems to pull in a weaker station from the university better than some of the powerhouse stations around here in the Buffalo area. But it does what it is supposed to. Bought it for a senior citizen and she likes the big readout. The bright screen (a detriment to some)actually serves as a kind of night light to help her see when getting out of bed in the middle of the night.

For this amount of money, I would say it is worth it. Nice compact size, too.

2 out of 5 stars It works but!!!.......2007-02-28

The radio works good, the phone part is just OK! The caller ID call back is confusing the sound quality of the phone is poor, unfortunately.. and the backlight of the LCD clock is really too bright for a bedroom. I had wished at night it would only light up if you tapped it or something.. I have to cover the face so the light doesn't distrub me.. I like my room dark.

3 out of 5 stars Phone clock radio.......2007-02-19

Phone and radio are fine..Time display poorly designed and tough to read. You have to be directly in front of it to see time. From sides you see all the adjustment and caller id items, therefore time is not clear.
