Panasonic's KX-TG5230M utilizes a digital spread spectrum signal on the 5.8 GHz band for increased call security and range and for reduced interference. Expandable, this system comes with one handset but can accommodate up to four. Caller ID/call-waiting-ready, the phone stores up to 50 calls in memory for your review; access and quickly dial them through the handset's three-line backlit LCD.

The phone also features talking caller ID, which audibly announces who's calling through the handset and base speakerphones. A separate feature, Caller IQ (where available), allows you to receive updates on weather, sports, horoscopes, and more; the information is sent directly to your telephone and displayed on the handset screen. (Caller ID and call waiting require subscription through your phone company. Caller IQ is a fee-based information service that requires registration.)

The KX-TG5230M allows you to pre-program frequently called numbers, even numbers required for chain dialing (ideal for automated systems that require a series of numeric inputs). The handsets have a short, light-up antenna that flashes when new calls are received and when you have a new voice message waiting. The handsets offer a variety of ring tones and melodies to choose from.

IMO phone is very Good. I know the rating is 3 it should be 4 close to 5. I had had some problem with talking on dropping in out and out. I really think It is Due to my Vonage service. It rarely happens though.

Talking ID is awesome. If you don't want to talk someone you don't even have to get to check the caller id.

Speaker phone on phone and base are Good. Ringtones are very good also, good to have variety like cell phones.

I've had this phone for nearly a year now, and it's worked great for me. We switched to 5.8 GHz after getting wireless internet (2.4 interferes with the signal), and I have no complaints. It has worked like a charm from the beginning, and I have experienced none of the things other reviewers are upset about. My only wish is that the caller id would show me the name I assign a number instead of the standard name format. I guess I'm just spoiled by cell phone formatting! Overall, I would definitly recommend this phone to anyone looking, and at this price, why wouldn't you! I am actually getting some of the handsets you can add to the system, and they are costing me more than the phone does now!

I bought this phone a year ago. I was worry about battery life because of other reviews on the Panasonic brand. It was never a problem with this phone system. I leave it off the base for a few days at a time and there's still battery life left. I only bought the base unit but if I really needed additional phones, I would purchase more handsets of this same model. I have no problems with the range of service for this phone. I live in a two-story house. The base is located downstairs and I constantly take the phone upstairs where my conversations are as clear as they are near the base. These phones are lightweight, durable, easy to use (with regards to features such as voicemail, phone preferences, etc.). I would purchase from Panasonic again mainly due to the affordable prices coupled with a reliable product. My favorite features are the different mailboxes people can leave messages in (if you have lots of people in your household), the phone book (this is very convenient!), and the different ring tones (fun to change once in awhile although some may find the melody choices annoying). If you're considering another phone system, make sure you compare prices and features. I have used the sleeker and more stylish Uniden (the 5.8 GHz ones) and I still prefer the Panasonic because the the buttons are easier to use and the phone just fits my hand better (its curvy design feels nice). Think function, not just form. Am I carrying on too much over a telephone?

A very good telephone. Some reviews I read said that the telephone did not work well near the base. On the conterary, I'm not having any such problems. Excellent range and clarity. Also like some reviews I read, no one has yet complained in the last month I have been using this phone, that they connot hear me properly. Definitely an excellent buy for the $ I paid.

I liked this equipment a lot. It is good value for the price I paid plus there was a $ 20 Mail In Rebate. The phone has a lot of features which are very useful. On the whole, a good product for the price I paid.
