AT&T 5830 5.8 GHz Cordless Speakerphone System

Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description
This innovative cordless telephone operates on the powerful 5.8 GHz frequency. Its classic design provides comfort and ease of use. Advanced features include adjustable sound settings, the ability to use up to six handsets, a speakerphones in the handset, and a duplex speakerphone in the base. (Duplex technology lets both parties talk and be heard simultaneously.)

The dual-band (5.8 GHz/2.4 GHz) design allows the base unit to transmit with more power in the 5.8 GHz frequency band or with greater efficiency at 2.4 GHz. The phone's true duplex transmission keeps the incoming and outgoing signals from interfering with each other.

The LCD on the handset provides caller ID/call waiting information (subscription required though your local phone company). The 5830 also provides talking caller ID, which announces the name or number of incoming callers.

The 5830's expandability, up to five additional handsets for a total of six, eliminates the need to hard-wire multiple extensions throughout your home. One phone jack and one power outlet is all you need to connect the 5830 base station and handset, while each additional model 5800 handset requires only a power outlet for its compact charger/cradle. Calls can be transferred from one handset to another.

The handset receiver lights up with incoming calls and can also be set to vibrate. It stores 50 names and numbers and works with your caller ID service to remember the last 50 callers. Sound Select lets you adjust bass, treble, and midrange to your liking. A spare-battery charging system enables the telephone to work even during a power outage. Choose from eight ringer melodies. The system is backed by a one-year warranty.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars excellent camera.......2007-06-21

Two Points:
1- It isn't mentioned anywhere but this camera has a focus assist light
2- mpeg4 is the only missing feature on a camera of this caliber; It records video files in MJPEK format

4 out of 5 stars Uneven performance.......2007-06-21

This is an easy camera to use; the controls are workable for large hands. In optimal lighting conditions it takes about 50% of the pictures in usable focus; the exposure is spot on nearly 100% of the time. But, compared with a lesser mp PowerShot, I have far more pictures that I discard. I find little evidence of the image stabilization effect. There is very little shutter lag which is a plus. The optional case is of little use as there is no room for an extra battery or flash card....and you NEED the extra battery. Today the camera simply stopped with no warning other than "replace the battery." There is no read out to tell how much battery power you have. They tell you to charge it before using it, but that's not practical. The movie feature with this is superb with excellent color balance. I love the compact size and probably am expecting too much as I have been using digital SLR's for several years.

4 out of 5 stars PS winner.......2007-06-19

My previous PS camera was five years old, and it was time to update. I read dozens of professional and user reviews and decided on this camera for the following reasons:

Wide angle.
Both an LCD and a view-finder.
Image Stabilizer.
Small enough to go into my coat or pants pocket.
Canon quality optics.
Long battery life.
User friendly.

I would have given it a 5 point rating if Canon provided better quality doors for the battery compartment and the output cables. Same comment by many other reviewers. Hopefully canon will correct this in the next generation sd800. Just treat the camera as a precision instrument and you will have lots of fun taking pictures.
I have been using it for about two months and the pictures (in all modes) are magnificent.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Unit for Families with Fast-Moving Kids.......2007-06-18

In one word, this camera is: FAST

I got this camera for my wife on mother's day. We had a Canon S60 that had seemed to get slower and slower in taking pictures for our 1 and 3 year olds. This camera got excellent reviews on speed. My wife also wanted something that would fit in her pocket.

The SD800IS delivers on everything we needed. It takes extremely fast pictures in all light conditions. The size of the unit is great to carry in your pocket without being too bulky.

The image stabilization really delivers. This is the first camera that I use the digital zoom on. With the IS circuity, I can shoot long-distance pictures on digital zoom with good clarity and no camera shake. It also allows me to show lower light with no flash.

All around, this is the best digital I've used.

4 out of 5 stars We Love It!!!.......2007-06-17

This camera lives up to all its great reviews. I would have given it five stars except that we have had quite a few blurry pictures when zoomed all the way that I was really hoping the image stab would take care of. Also, more red eyes than I would be okay with. I don't expect perfection and other than that, I can not complain about anything!
Fast boot and quick lapse. Pictures are beautiful. Compact and lightweight. Easy to use.
A fun feature not found on comparable brands is the color swap.

Amazon.com Product Description

The Sony Ericsson W800 was a big hit. Now, here comes the sequel, the W810i. All the same great Walkman features are here, along with robust phone functions, but now you get quad-band GSM, a larger and brighter display, and perhaps most importantly, support for EDGE high speed data. In addition to a powerful and easy-to-use Walkman music player, the W810i boasts a 2-megapixel auto-focus camera with flash, a Memory Stick Duo card slot, Bluetooth, and a speakerphone. Simply put, this baby's loaded.

Big screen, big features, big fun. View an interactive demonstration of the w810. You can also check out the W810i video.

Dedicated music control buttons make for easy listening.

Transfer songs to your W810i with the included Disc2Phone software.

Two megapixels of camera goodness.
Design
The W810i follows a long tradition of beautifully designed and crafted phones from Sony Ericsson. The same candy-bar style that graced the W800 is here, as is the horizontally-oriented camera unit on the back of the phone, allowing you to hold the phone just as you would a camera when you're taking pictures. The W810i's screen sports 176 x 220 pixel resolution with support for 262,000 colors. Quick access buttons below the screen make it easy to control the phone's Walkman music features, while a five-way center button controls most of the phone's menus and features.

The W810i contains 20 MB of embedded memory, but as mentioned, a Memory Stick Duo slot is provided, and it also supports Pro Duo cards, giving you storage capacities of 2 GB and beyond. The phone ships with a 128 MB Memory Stick Duo card. Of course, there's also a port for the phone's included stereo headset. USB and infrared data ports are provided, as well, and the phone supports USB mass storage so you can simply plug the phone into your computer and drag and drop files into the phone's memory using the included Disc2Phone PC application. To top it all off, the W810i's camera flash can double as a flashlight.

Calling Features
The W810i's phone book can hold up to 1000 contacts with multiple entries per contact. A call list remembers your most recent missed, received and dialed calls. The phone's voice activated dialing makes calling your contacts as easy as saying their names, while the built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear. Polyphonic ringtones are included and you can also use MP3 and AAC music files as ringtones. A cool application called Music DJ even lets you mix your own ringtones. Meanwhile, picture caller ID lets you assign a photo to specific callers. Similarly, a ringer ID lets you assign ringtones to callers. More ringtones are available from AT&Amp;T's MEdia NET mobile web service. For those times you want to keep things discreet, there's a vibrate ringer mode. And because the W810i is Bluetooth-enabled, you can use a variety of headsets and handsfree kits for total wireless freedom when you're on the go.

Messaging, Internet, and Tools
If you're looking for a mobile productivity partner, the W810i has you covered. Support is built in for sending and receiving pictures, text, graphics, and sound via MMS messages. When used in combination with the phone's built-in still and video camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging possibilities. The phone also ships with a built-in email client with support for POP3, IMAP4 and SMTP protocols, while the included Access NetFront Web Browser allows you to surf full HTML web sites. An included IM client supports AOL, Yahoo!, ICQ and MSN instant messaging services. T9 text entry, a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

Getting on the Internet is easy with the W810i, as it supports the GPRS protocol, as well as the high speed EDGE data protocol. When used with a AT&Amp;T data plan and the phone's USB or Bluetooth data capabilities the phone can be used as a wireless modem for laptops and PDAs.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the W810i, including a voice memo recorder, a to-do list, a calculator, a calendar and an alarm clock. The phone also supports the SyncML PC synchronization standard, which lets you synchronize your PC-based calendar, contacts, notes and tasks with your W810i.

Imaging and Entertainment
The W810i is a Walkman phone, and that means it offers a great mobile music experience. Load up your favorite songs in MP3 or AAC format on a memory card and listen to your heart's content. The user-friendly music player application also includes a "Music Mode" that shuts down the phone functions so you can listen on an airplane or anytime you don't want to accept calls. Meanwhile, Digital Mega Bass and stereo widening combine to enhance your listening experience. There's even an FM radio for catching the big game or your favorite stations. The radio also supports reception of digital song information from radio stations. To enjoy all your tunes, a stereo headset ships with the phone.

And don't forget about that powerful 2-megapixel camera, which features something most camera phones lack -- autofocus. Finally, you can get consistently great shots from any distance, shots that rival the quality of a dedicated digital camera. The camera also features an LED flash and a 4x digital zoom, and it can capture video, as well. Dedicated controls on the side of the unit will make you forget you're holding a phone in your hand.

And what about gaming? This phone is definitely geared for the mobile fun fanatic, as it supports widescreen and 3D games. The W810i comes preloaded with several games and more are downloadable from Sony Ericsson.

Vital Statistics
The Sony Ericsson W810i weighs 3.49 ounces and measures 3.94 x 1.81 x .77 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 8 hours of digital talk time, and up to 350 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Almost perfect.......2007-06-15

Okay, there are only 3 disadvantage to this phone. When listening to someone, it is obvious you are on a cell-phone. It isn't clear, but it is acceptable for anyone. And there is no good non-ringtone ring. I can always hear a ring, but sometimes I can't make out a ringtone over music. So I want a legit ringing sound. Finally, sometimes, but not often, it has a problem holding on to a signal. You mostly have to be careful how you hold the phone. That is it.

This phone comes complete with more than any of my other phones, and it is smaller! What do you get for a small package? FM Radio, media player supporting up to 4 GB of music, stopwatch, timer, calendar, efficient contact organizer, Bluetooth, a bright light for the camera or to find you way around in the dark, a excellent camera, calculator, note taker, and long battery life.

Ericsson has always designed excellent phones. I still use, from time to time, my old T68. In between those phones I have had Motorola and Nokia. Both weren't even in the same league as this phone. Ericsson phones are easy to use and reliable. Anyone shopping for a GSM phone should look no further. Once you go Ericsson, getting anything else will depress you. I have hated my last two phones. I love my phone again.

2 out of 5 stars Synch Problems not mentioned.......2007-06-12

One reason I got this phone is that I believed it would interact with my PC to load contacts, music, and my calendar. It comes with synchronization software and, while instructions are sparse, there is no reason to believe it would not work ... except it doesn't. After spending LOTS of time trying and going to the "knowledge base", I finally gave in and called customer support. I was told the phone CANNOT synchronize through the Media Center version of Windows XP because there is no compatible driver. So I now face the choices of 1)Entering everything by hand and doing without the mp3 function (Are you crazy?) 2)Waiting for the development of a compatible driver (Like that will happen soon) or 3)Giving them their crippled phone back. Probably #3, huh?

4 out of 5 stars Great little phone.......2007-06-10

I've had this phone for a couple of weeks and really like it. I was worried about scratching the screen and camera lens until I bought this great little case by Krussel. My wife's Cingular Sony w600i phone can play full MP3 songs as ringtones assignable to contacts. I wish mine could. You can edit MP3 files down to 10 seconds via an editing program and use them, what a hassle though. The Sony Ericsson site allows you to download a some nice themes, games and ringtones at no charge. The phone I purchased came with a 256 MB memory card. I bought a 2 GB card to replace it and have loaded several albums of music on it. It sounds great, takes great pictures and is small. Definitely the most fun cell phone I've had so far.

A 2 mega pixel camera, a great MP3 player and ultra-compact phone. Just a few years ago we were carring shoulder bag phones that never worked, bulky cameras and cassette tape walkmans. Can't complain too much I guess!

5 out of 5 stars Everything you want in a phone.......2007-06-09

This phone is close to being perfect in its own way. The user interface is very nice and easy to understand. The 2MP camera is good enough. Actually, if you don't need to use the camera a lot then I think a VGA or 1.3MP camera phone is enough already. In that sense, the Sony Ericsson W300i Phone (AT&T) may be a better choice. Since I love flip phones (which many think are already out-of-date) and the W300i has basically everything the W810i has (except for the camera quality), I would have chosen it instead if I could go back. But I'm not at all dissatisfied with this one.

The keypad is a bit smaller than other phones and the positions of the cingular and walkman keys are a bit strange so it may take you some time to get used to in the beginning. After that, everything is just fine.

My rebates are approved, actually. I see many people here have a problem with it. Maybe it's because my first bill is not exactly cheap so they want to help out a bit. Anyway, I'm very happy with AT&T and the phones I've had.

4 out of 5 stars Great ALL ROUND PHONE.......2007-06-09

Hi,
It is a great all round phone especially with a cash back of $100. I have found no problem till now with the usage of phone. It has

1.) Great Looks.
2.) Size and weight.
3.) Keypad is easy to write.
4.) Features like mp3, voice recorder, light, bluetooth and radio.
5.) Cingular AT&T has the best coverage overall.

The speaker could have been a bit louder. Anyway it's way ahead than RAZR.

Regards,

Praveen

Amazon.com Product Description

Adding a fashionable touch to Research in Motion's formidable arsenal of telephonic, PIM, and media tools, the BlackBerry 8300 Curve is also the smallest, lightest BlackBerry phone that includes a full QWERTY keyboard. This amalgam of the svelte BlackBerry Pearl and the more business-oriented 8800 combines RIM's long-valued corporate email and messaging platform with a host of advanced multimedia features, including a 2-megapixel camera and stereo Bluetooth (for listening to music via wireless headphones). Available in the U.S. exclusively from AT&T, it communicates over GSM/GPRS and EDGE networks and offers global voice and data roaming in over 130 countries.

Key features at a glance:

The svelte, liquid silver BlackBerry Curve has a QWERTY keyboard and 2.5-inch screen on the front, and a 2-megapixel camera on the back (with flash and 5x digital zoom).

The full keyboard and the innovative trackball navigation system (placed above the keyboard) makes accessing your data and writing email a breeze.

The Curve is fashioned in a liquid silver finish with chrome highlights and subtly curving corners. Measuring 4.2 x 2.4 inches, the Curve is just as slim as the Pearl (0.6 inches) and weighs in at 3.9 ounces--just 0.7 ounces heavier than its predecessor. It features a bright 2.5-inch color TFT screen that provides 65,000 colors and a 320 x 240-pixel resolution, and it includes a light-sensing feature that automatically adjusts backlighting for indoor, outdoor and dark environments. Like the BlackBerry 8800, the Curve includes a trackball navigation system located on the top of the QWERTY keypad, and it also features an integrated spell checker with a customizable dictionary to help maintain accuracy while on the go. It has 64 MB of internal ROM memory, and is expandable using MicroSD memory cards. The battery provides up to 4 hours (240 minutes) of talk time and up to 17 days (408 hours) of standby time.

You can snap vivid photos (though no video) using the 2-megapixel camera on the back of the Curve, which also features a 5x digital zoom, built-in flash, self-portrait mirror and full screen viewfinder. It can capture images in up to three picture quality and size resolutions that can be shared instantly by email, MMS or BlackBerry Messenger, or even uploaded to your Flickr account with the Yahoo! Go service. Photos can also be immediately set as a unique caller ID or Home Screen image. You can edit photos and create albums within the Curve using the PhotoSuite application. Pictures can be cropped, rotated and straightened, and flaws can be fixed by removing redeye or changing the brightness, contrast, and saturation levels.

Listen to your favorite music and watch downloaded videos using the included stereo headset, or use an optional wireless headphone thanks to the Curve's support for the Bluetooth stereo audio profile (A2DP/AVRCP). The Curve is compatible with a wide variety of file formats, including MP3, WMA and AAC/AAC+/eAAC+ audio and WMV, MPEG4 and H.263 video. Dedicated volume controls are conveniently located on the side of the handset. You can also subscribe to the AT&T Music service, which includes access to online subscription music content from eMusic, XM Satellite Radio and more.

With the Voice-Activated Dialing (VAD) feature, you can initiate a call just by telling the Curve who to call from your contact list--either via the integrated speakerphone or using an optional Bluetooth wireless headset. Other advanced phone features include advanced sound technology that cancels out background noise and echo, dedicated volume and mute keys, and the ability to customize the Curve with polyphonic and MP3 ringtones.

Though it doesn't come with an integrated GPS receiver, you can add an optional Bluetooth-enabled receiver to take advantage of the BlackBerry Maps application. Check maps for fast turn-by-turn directions virtually anywhere--simply click on an address in your address book, type it or paste one in.

Staying Connected
With BlackBerry's push email technology, your email will find you without having to initiate a connection. BlackBerry devices are designed to remain on and continuously connected to the wireless network, notifying you as new email arrives. In addition to the text, you can also receive and view attachments in a wide range of popular file formats, including Microsoft Office, Corel WordPerfect, and Adobe PDF.

Browse the web with the integrated, full-featured browser, which quickly and efficiently displays HTML pages as well as enables you to set up RSS feeds to stay connected to up-to-the-minute news and blog posts. And keep up with your contacts using a variety of instant message (IM) networks, including the integrated Blackberry Messenger as well as downloadable clients for Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger, and Lotus Sametime.

This quadband phone operates on GSM 850/900/1800/1900 networks and can handle high-speed data connectivity via AT&T's EDGE network, with availability in more than 13,000 US cities and along some 40,000 miles of major highways. It also offers AT&T's Push to Talk (PTT) feature, which enables walkie talkie-style instant voice communication with other AT&T users--either one-on-one or with groups--and it allows you to convert the PTT call to a regular voice call if you need to have a longer discussion.

The Curve delivers all the corporate email and messaging capabilities you've come to expect. It's supported on BlackBerry Internet Service, giving you access to up to 10 work or personal email accounts (including most popular ISP email accounts), as well as BlackBerry Enterprise Server, enabling advanced security and IT administration within IBM Lotus Domino, Microsoft Exchange and Novell GroupWise environments.

3 out of 5 stars Fine form factor - misses on the media player.......2007-06-19

I moved over from the Blackberry 8800 to the Curve and while I generally like the form factor, camera and keyboard - there are a couple things that are real misses for Research in Motion.

1. Build Quality - Out of the box the area between my volume and camera button was loose. My 8800 had the "squeaky side rails" syndrome and to some extent this one does as well. For a device which is priced so highly, these types of build issues should be worked out well in advance of production. The volume keys are difficult to push and recessed into the body of the 8300.

2. Media Player - My experience dragging and dropping mp3 both via the included software (s--l--o--w) and direct transfer was disappointing. Some tracks failed to transfer entirely. I am copying mp3 files into different folders and am not certain whether BB has a bug with reading mp3 files from folders.

3. Continued lack of html email capability - third party kludgeware is starting to eek out - but there still is the inability to natively read html emails. This is the year 2007 not 1980.

4. Pokey EDGE network. One of the included apps from ATT is XM Satellite Streaming. My experience with this app was very mixed. When it worked - it was cool (but VERY overpriced at $8.99/mo). However most of the time the stream was sporadic and had a lot of cutting in and out.

For all it's faults, the BB 8300 is still with me on a daily basis. The pictures from the camera are decent. I wish it had GPS capability like the 8800.

I think for business use you still cannot beat Blackberry.

For casual users, I think there are better solutions. Many users forget (or don't know) that the Blackberry requires an additional BB specific data plan in order to do just about anything useful.

5 out of 5 stars impressive.......2007-06-17

I usually deal with the treo ( I had the 650 and the 680 for cingular). But when I saw that Blackberry was releasing a full keyboard smarphone that was smaller than the treo and also has a camaera, I had to get it. Now that I have had the phone for about a week I don't regret my purchase. The sound quality of the phone using the speakerphone and the handset is great. The battery last for days during regular use before I have to charge it. (I would have to charge the treo 680 every night) The big bright screen has been very good in dark rooms as well as in the sunlight. The only complaint I have is that the manual that comes with the phone doesn't explain all the functions the phone is capable of. You have to look at tutorials, read forums, and ask people that already had a blackberry about how to perfom some functions that weren't printed in the manual. Other than this, this phone is excellent.

5 out of 5 stars Best Smart Phone On The Market.......2007-06-14

I never spend $300.00 without first checking it out thoroughly, and this phone was no different. I researched everything I could find on all smart phone as well as pocket PCs. I personally was looking for a phone that I could push email to, that was number one, and secondly it would be nice if it could surf the net. I looked at numerous blackberries, starcoms, window based smart phones such as the blackjack, but I kept coming back to the the Blackberry Curve. The Curve, first and formost has an excellent email set up. After just a few minutes I was receiving and sending my original POP3 email from my phone. Another thing that I loved is that when you delete an email, the phone ask you if you want to delete it just from your BB or your BB and your desktop. Here are a few other things that made me decide on the BB Curve.

1) "Independent" Voice Commands - This is very important because "independent" voice commands do not have to be trained with the phone. The old way, "dependent", requires you to go through your program and say every word and number before hand and train it.

2) Media Player - As much as I have wanted a smart phone, I have also wanted a media player that would play videos as well as digital music. With the BB Curve, I killed two birds with one stone. This phone has an awesome media player.

3) Data Card - This phone uses micro sd cards for data storage. This is a plus for the media player. Currently I have a 2GB card and they say that 4GB will be available soon (or is already available). With 4GB you have plenty of room for videos, MP3s, as well as pictures and other applications.

4) Size and Feel - The form factor, or shape, of this phone is fantastic. I just recently purchased a BB case but before that it fit snugly into a RAZR case. It also has rubber sides that make it easy to hold and harder to drop. At less than 4 ounces, and just a little more than a 1/2 inch thick, what else can you say.

5) Excellent Battery Life
6) Numerous useful applications
7) Great camera with 2+ megapixel
8) Excellent Speakerphone

I have heard some people complain because it is not 3G but I sometimes wonder if 3G is not overrated.

The only problem I have with the phone is desktop manager could be a little simpler. I have had trouble using. Overall this phone is outstanding.

5 out of 5 stars Curve It........2007-06-09

I love this phone, as it is my first blackberry.

Pros:
-Comfy design
-2MP Camera (better than expected)
-Clear Calling

Cos-
-No Micro-SD included
-Complicated to change some settings

Conclusion: I would choose this phone anyday, don't decide against it. The word, "crackberry", also may come to mind. :-)

5 out of 5 stars Exceptional Smartphone.......2007-06-05

Not much to say about this phone since it meets all of my requirements with the exception of integrated GPS and 3G. Outside of those two options this phone has made the proper leaps from the 8800 and any other predecessor from RIM. There are minor design and usability concerns but I'm going to chalk them to my learning curve from the previous models to this one. I'll update you after a week of using it. I would've rated this device as 4 stars due to the fact that I would've prefer it had 3G and GPS however by its own merit it is a 5!

With a 16x digital zoom, an integrated flash LED, you can expect excellent quality from the photos taken. This entertainment device doubles as a mini TV screen, too, making it an ideal choice for optimized viewing of streaming and downloaded video clips. Featuring MPEG-4 video capture and playback in landscape mode, the Nokia N75 delivers an instant video experience with audio recording. With internal memory of up to 40 MB, which can be further expanded with an optional microSD card of up to 2 GB, the N75 allows you to capture up to 500 minutes of high quality video or close to 2500 2.0-megapixel photos. Additionally, once you've got all the pictures you want on your memory card, you can connect the phone directly to any PictBridge-compatible printer for instantaneous printing right from the phone.

The Nokia N75 music experience excels even with the device closed. Amazon.com Product Description

The award-winning Cingular 8525 3G Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0-based Pocket PC phone, with its compact size and ultimate connectivity, is truly the complete mobile office solution. Roam anywhere in the world and use the phone's high speed Internet access, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi capabilities. The 8525 gives you more control than ever over the way you work.

The Cingular 8525 lets you do things you'd typically need a PC to do, like email, text messaging, instant messaging and Web browsing--all from one integrated device. What's more, the phone's software is designed to sync seamlessly with email, contacts, and calendar information on your PC. The 8525 also offers great mobile music and video options, thanks to Windows Media Player. Other design features include a unique slide-out QWERTY keyboard that makes messaging, note-taking, and other writing tasks a breeze.

          Design
Under the hood, the 8525 features 128MB of embedded memory and 64MB RAM, running on a 400 MHz Samsung processor. Up front, the 240 x 320 LCD touch-screen supports over 65,000 colors, while the rear of the device houses a 2.0 megapixel camera. The design of the 8525 is clean and uncluttered, with just a few buttons for mail, Internet Explorer, and contextual menus. Meanwhile, call answer and end buttons surround a five-way toggle that allows you to navigate and control the Windows Mobile interface. As mentioned, a full QWERTY keyboard cleverly slides out from underneath the screen. This allows you to hold the device horizontally, and the screen is automatically placed in landscape mode when you're using the keyboard. A side scroll wheel is conveniently tucked away on the side, making navigation when accessing the music player and other various applications a cinch when needed. A mini-SD memory expansion card slot is provided, as is an infrared port and support for a stereo Bluetooth headset. A mini-USB port is also included for wired data transfers and charging.

          Calling and PDA Features
The 8525's phone and PDA functions are designed to provide an integrated, seamless experience. A single main screen summarizes all the important information you need to make it through the day. Here you'll get message notification, upcoming appointments, dialing functions, tasks, and more all in one spot.

As a phone, the 8525 features all the functionality folks expect from a cell phone, including a handsfree speakerphone, polyphonic ringtones, a vibrate mode, and picture and ringer ID. The unit comes stock with preloaded unique ringtones, while more ringtones can be downloaded from Cingular Wireless' MEdia Net service.

Microsoft Office Outlook Mobile combines email, calendar, contacts, tasks, and notes into a single application that seamlessly integrates with the 8525's phone functions. Meanwhile, headsets, car kits, and other wireless peripherals can also be paired with the unit via Bluetooth.

Staying productive on the road is made possible by the Microsoft Office Mobile suite, which includes Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, and PowerPoint Mobile. Meanwhile, the File Explorer application makes it easy to browse the files on your 8525.

          Messaging and Internet
With the 8525, you can surf the Web with the bundled Internet Explorer application, or use MSN messenger to stay in contact via instant messaging. Plus, the inclusion of Wi-Fi capability in the 8525 allows you to surf the Web or check your email at blazing speeds when you're connected to a Wi-Fi network. No Wi-Fi network available? No worries; the 8525 is compatible with the latest generation of UMTS/HSDPA 3G data networks. With UMTS and HSDPA, you'll be streaming and downloading at speeds so fast your head will spin. And lastly, robust SMS and MMS functionality is built into the Windows Mobile interface.

Getting on the Internet with your laptop or PDA is easy with the 8525. When used with a Cingular data plan and the phone's Bluetooth or USB data capability, the phone can be used as a wireless modem for laptops and PDAs.

One of the most important tools bundled with the 8525 is Microsoft ActiveSync, which allows you to quickly synchronize your device's tasks, calendars, email, and contacts with your desktop. You also get Exchange ActiveSync, an application that lets you synchronize data with an Exchange server. Syncing can be done via USB, or wirelessly via Bluetooth or infrared.

          Imaging and Entertainment
Another great feature of the 8525 is that it supports Windows Media playback right out of the box. With Windows Media Player, you can play streaming and downloaded video and audio content in a variety of formats.

As mentioned, the 8525 can take 2.0 megapixel pictures, and while the camera is great for taking stills, it can also function as a camcorder, allowing you to capture video to the unit's memory. An integrated media application organizes your captured photos and videos. For gamers, the phone supports Java-based and Windows Mobile games, and games are available for download via the Cingular MEdia Net service.

The Cingular 8525 also sports an airplane mode feature, which allows you to safely use the non-wireless functions of the phone (such as music, games or organizer functions) on an airplane during flight.

              Amazon.com Product Description

Featuring the perfect blend of broadband-like speed, dynamic multimedia capabilities, and cutting-edge design, the MOTO RAZR V3xx is the first Motorola handset to ship with High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) and EDGE technology. The iconic RAZR design is still here, as is the all-metal construction, this time, though, the phone boasts an updated and streamlined design, enhanced media capabilities, a 1.30-megapixel camera, a hot-swappable MicroSD memory card slot, and more. Simply put, the V3xx is the perfect combination of performance and style, and the perfect complement to Cingular service.

Cingular, Motorola, and HSDPA high-speed data: the perfect combination.
              Design
At .58 inches thick, the RAZR V3xx is virtually the same thickness as the original RAZR. And like the original RAZR, the phone's design takes the standard clamshell form factor to the next level with an impressive, fully-anodized aluminum construction, and 60 MB of internal memory. A large 240 x 320 color display with over 262,000 colors dominates the inside of the top cover, while the outside cover of the handset sports a supplementary 96 x 80 full-color display that can display caller ID pictures, time, call information, battery and signal strength, and more. The integrated VGA and 1.30-megapixel digital camera is housed above this display. Use the VGA camera for live two-way video calls at up to 15 frames per second. Up/down buttons are placed on the left side for volume control, as well as the camera button and mini-USB port.

Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's backlit control pad, which is precision cut from a single sheet of nickel-plated copper alloy. A mini-USB port is provided, which, while useful for fast data transfer, can also be used with compatible USB stereo headsets. Note that the phone does not have a standard 2.5mm headset jack. Lastly, a charging port is placed on the bottom of the phone, and an unobtrusive internal antenna is safely tucked away, keeping the phone's design compact and portable.

              Calling Features
The RAZR V3xx's internal phone book can hold up to 1000 contacts while the phone's picture ID system allows you to assign pictures to your most common callers. The phone also supports polyphonic ringtones as well as MP3 ringers, allowing you to use portions of your favorite songs to alert you to incoming calls. For times when you want to be discreet, there's a vibrating alert. A built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear while voice activated dialing makes calling your friends, family and associates as easy as saying their names. Speaker-independent technology allows any speaker to dial numbers with the voice dialing system. And because the RAZR V3xx is Bluetooth enabled, wireless headsets for calling, and even wireless stereo headsets for music can be configured with the phone for total handsfree operation.

              Messaging, Internet, and Tools
The RAZR V3xx is a messaging and wireless Internet powerhouse. With HSDPA and EDGE technology, the RAZR V3xx delivers broadband-like speeds for downloading, Web browsing, and data exchange. Leveraging these advanced capabilities, the RAZR V3xx allows for live two-way video calls at up to 15 frames per second, over the air music and video downloads, direct media streaming, and more.

Support is built in for sending and receiving pictures, text, graphics, sound and video via messages. When used in combination with the phone's built-in still and video camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun. And because UMTS and HSDPA support built right into the phone, you'll be streaming and downloading at speeds so fast your head will spin. Used in combination with one of Cingular's MEdia Max plans that supports Cingular Video (additional Cingular charges apply), the V3xx will allow you to play high-quality news clips, sports clips, weather clips, and more--right on your phone. And with Cingular's exclusive partnership with HBO Mobile and HBO Family Mobile, you'll never be at a loss for something good to watch.

There's also a built-in web browser for MEdia Net downloads and mobile web browsing. Cingular's MEdia Net service lets you do more than just stream videos--it lets you receive and send emails, read news headlines, get weather updates, download games and ringtones, and more. iTap text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit--a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

Getting on the Internet is easy with the V3xx. When used with a Cingular data plan and the phone's Bluetooth or USB data capability, the phone can be used as a wireless modem for laptops and PDAs.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the V3xx including a calculator with currency converter, a calendar and an alarm clock. The phone can also be used with Motorola's Mobile Phone Tools PC application to manage and synchronize contacts, calendar and other data with your PC. The phone also sports an airplane mode feature, which allows the user to safely use the non-wireless functions of a phone (such as music, games, or organizer functions) on an airplane during flight.

              Imaging and Entertainment
The RAZR V3xx's integrated 1.3-megapixel camera and VGA video camera bridges the gap between phones and quality digital cameras. Animated screensavers and full screen wallpapers are supported too, so you can set up the RAZR V3xx to suit your tastes. Lastly, the phone supports java-based games and applications.

The RAZR V3xx is a serious music phone. When the feeling strikes you, jam out to your favorite music on the unit's advanced MP3 player. The phone sports a microSD/TransFlash memory card slot, so you can load up all your favorite music and bring it with you (memory cards sold separately). And because the phone supports MobiTV and MobiRadio, in addition to streaming video and TV, you can listen to your favorite radio station via the supported digital radio service--great for times when you feel like listening to new music (additional Cingular charges apply).
