Designed for a home or small office environment, the Casio Phonemate MA- 240 cordless digital phone handles up to two lines and 12 handsets, so it can expand as your business grows. The phone also transfers calls from one handset to another and supports conference calling.
The MA-240 offers some fine features that more than offset a couple of nagging limitations. The MA-240 is about the size and weight of a cell phone, so it's one of the more compact cordless units we've tested. The small size results in some sacrifices: many of the buttons, especially those that control caller ID and hold, are too small to operate without looking at them, so you can't operate the phone solely by touch. Other phones in this class are generally bigger but are much easier to control. The MA-240's caller ID memory holds 30 numbers, but the compact two-line LCD screen can't display the caller's name and the phone number simultaneously. Also, the MA-240 supports only two phone lines, while comparably priced units usually handle four lines.
On the positive side, the MA-240 is remarkably easy to set up. To add additional handsets, simply plug them into an AC outlet and they're immediately available as an extension. Also, the signal strength of the handsets is very strong, resulting in a long range of clear transmission. In our tests, we were able to take the handset outside for over 100 hundred feet--with no line of sight to the base station--and hold a conversation with relatively clear reception and minimal distortion. The MA-240 also has important features for small business use, including three-way conferencing, call transfer, and intercom calls between handsets.
Despite a few shortcomings, most home and small-office workers will find the Casio Phonemate a fine choice. --John Frederick Moore

Customer Reviews:
Less than a year ago we purchased a pair of the Casio MA240's, also at a deep discount price that could not be published. These phones are just plain Junk! Costly yes, but still Junk. So "Put the credit card down and step away from the computer" Problems are many and they start early in the phones life. Problems such as > Volume gets lower and lower as time goes by. The number pad buttons either stick, or dont make any tones at all. Batteries lose all memory in a short period of time, and on top of that , it can be a little complicated to figure out many of the extra features. The best advice I can give you at this time is good luck finding a phone that will last more than a year as we have bought phones that range in price from 19.99 to 300.00 ( for pair) and they all seem to decay and stop functioning within a years time. We purchased our phones new, not reconditioned, and we surely never expected them to go bad, this quick.
I WOULD SUGGEST YOU SAVE THE CASH, AND AVOID A LOT OF GRIEF.......2001-08-10
This Product when using the MH-200 will give you multiple phones with no extra wiring needed. This is the best thing for you who dont want to rewire your home.
Easy phone to hook up anywhere in your house........2001-07-05
Now I know why the product was on sale, cheaper than the cost of a handset for the system. Range seemed OK although never really tested the full range of the unit. Speaker volume was decreased as previously noted. Battery life can be incredibly short. Truly annoying problem was that our other cordless phones seemed to malfunction periodically (never a problem previously), it would somehow misdial numbers constantly and we would have to revert to the other phones to complete the calls. Bought several of the systems and they are all going back. Should have checked out the reviews previously.
Don't Buy, Even if Discounted.......2000-12-31
Agreeing with other reviewers, I have found the quality to be really bad on this phone. People I call are constantly asking me to speak up - it sounds like I am calling people from Mars. The buttons are too small and many times they do not "beep" correctly - an annoyance especially when I am calling into phone trees (you know the ones, press 1 then press 2). I am so sorry I bought this phone. What a waste of money!
Quality is not good.......2000-09-22
This product is worthless. Don't expect more than six months worht of use, because that's all you'll get. Furthermore, Casio will not assist you in replacing or repairing it. I made the mistakes, but never again. Consider yourself warned.
