Range in most indoor environments is not a problem with the Plantronics CT10. This cordless phone, essentially a low-powered FM radio transmitter/receiver, uses high frequencies with short wavelengths so radio waves encounter less interference. A 900 MHz cordless phone like the Plantronics CT10 typically has a range of up to 150 feet indoors. The headset will beep three times if you wander out of range of the base.

Operate the headset using the handy remote dialing unit, which plugs into the headset via a jack. The remote unit is charged and stored in thephone's base, which also features a stand for storing the headset, clearing up desk space. For a C-note, this thing's not worth it..........2006-08-18

SO far, this thing is hit or miss. There are many times when I turn it on to make a call, and I can't hear a dial tone. It seems like I need to push the button a certain way. Other times I'll answer a call, and people on the other hand can me, but I can't hear them. For the dough, it's of fairly cheap material. When it works, it's great...I just hope I can learn the ideosynchrocies of this unit soon...Good luck!

Good, but you can't see the keypad.......2006-07-07

I ordered this from Amazon's "Beach Audio" marketplace on a Friday, it shipped Monday, and I received it Wednesday. I opened the box and at first I thought, "Hey, did they send me a USED phone? The numbers have rubbed off the keypad!" Looked closer and discovered that some designer numnut decided that grey ink on dark grey keys would be a pleasing feature. Hello?? Fire that guy, Plantronics.

Aside from not being able to see the numbers, the phone works quite well. In addition to business calls here at home, I do teleconferencing via a digital internet phone connection, and listeners say my voice is very clear. The coolest thing is the noise cancellation, though. Even though the yard crew was outside my window with the leaf blower, no one could hear it. But I do still need to hit Mute if I'm going to yell at the dog.

Great little phone, BUT...........2006-03-19

I love this little phone! I needed a hands-free phone so I could talk on the phone and still be doing things around the house at the same time and this phone certainly meets that need. The headset is light and pretty comfortable. The phone unit itself is tiny and can clip on or slip into your pocket. The reception is pretty crisp and I use it all the time. Here's the downside: The range is not nearly as much as claimed - at least not in my area. I would estimate that I cannot go more than 60-70 feet from the base before there is some static or worse (i.e. lost connection). I specifically wanted to be able to walk outside in my yard. Maybe it is problematic because of my location - I am not sure. But, that is a bit disappointing. Caller ID would have been an awesome feature, too!! Other than that, it is an awesome little phone and I don't regret buying it. I can carry on a conversation and be cooking or working on various projects at the same time and that is a GREAT time-saver!

Great for the home office!.......2006-01-26

My husband and I like gadgets, so we typically try many, but are really only impressed with a very few. And this CT10 phone has definitely impressed us! It's small, light, easy to set up, easy to use. I found the headset very comfortable, volume and clarity were great on both the sending and receiving end. The only mildly annoying feature is the beeping while the phone is muted. Fortunately, most major teleconferencing services (AT&T, MeetingPlace, etc.) have keystrokes you can enter to mute your phone (#5, *6, etc.) so I've used these to avoid the beeping. I would definitely buy this phone again and I've recommended it to several friends and family members who love to talk on the phone and would rather not have to hold a handset all the time. Great job, Plantronics!!!

Bad product from a good company.......2006-01-23

As others have observed, this is a really sub-par product from a company with a good reputation.

I've had this phone about a year. One battery failed within months. The phone itself failed after about 10 months. Plantronics replaced both without hassle, though I paid to send the defective phone back.

Others have mentioned the beeping-on-mute issue (what WERE they thinking?) and poor battery life -- both true and very annoying. There are other design issues that make this an unacceptable product, in my view, e.g., it's easy to hurt your fingers removing and installing batteries.

If you are looking for a 900 Mhz phone, my recommendation is to look elsewhere.

Works well, but mute function needs work.......2004-12-22

I bought this to replace a similar product by GE which
has been discontinued.

I selected the CT10 because it had a mute button which
many similar products do not have.

However, I was very disappointed to find that when the mute
button is pushed, the user hears an annoying and continuous
beep sound.

On the plus side, the unit produces clear sound, and I've
used it as much as 100 feet away with no problems.
People on the other side of the call hear me fine.
I also like that the head set is easily replaceable.
If I ever find a head set with a built in mute function,
I will add that to my CT10.
