Audiovox GX2400 2.4GHz Cordless Phone

Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description
Every time you use the Audiovox GX2400, this advanced cordless phone automatically scans 40 channels to find the one with the least interference for crystal- clear transmission. Automatic scanning plus 2.4 GHz power gives the GX2400 superior range and clarity for a cordless phone.

A cordless phone is basically a radio receiver and transmitter in one, which allows you to roam around your house while talking on the phone. These phones were prone to static and eavesdropping, but in 1998 the FCC opened the high-frequency, short-wavelength 2.4 GHz range to the cordless industry.

Transmission in this range encounters less interference, giving phones like the GX2400 greater sound clarity and a range of up to 150 feet indoors. The 2.4 GHz frequency is far above the range accessible by most radio scanners, so you get better protection from eavesdropping. In addition, the GX2400 offers a security scan with up to 1 million combinations for optimum privacy.

For better sound quality, this phone features compander noise reduction circuitry. A compander (compressor and expander) circuit first compresses a signal, then expands it on playback. This reduces the hissing and popping common on lower-priced cordless phones.

Phone features on the GX2400 include a 10-number memory and last-number redial. You can turn the ringer on and off, or put the phone on auto answer so calls go directly to voice mail. The out-of-range indicator tells you when the phone's signal is too weak for proper reception.

The handset has a low-battery indicator to tell you when it's time to recharge. There's a volume control on the handset, and this phone is compatible with hearing aids. The Audiovox GX2400 offers optimum power plus lots of dialing features in an affordable cordless phone.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Good performer.......2003-02-24

I got this phone to replace a 900 MHz unit that died. Generally, I am pleased with the performance. I've taken it several houses away, with good results. My only real complaint is that it cannot be used when the microwave oven is on. I do not know if this is a problem with all 2.4 GHz phones.

1 out of 5 stars Marginal Performer.......2001-12-10

This phone performed marginally for me so I sent it back. The handset began to fade in and out just a few yards from the base unit. It was unusable out in my back yard. Additionally, the voice pumped annoyingly while talking. There are much better cordless phones out there. I have an old 900Mhz Uniden that performs much better used in the same area of my home.
