GE 26965GE3 900 MHz Cordless No-Jack Swap Top Phone

Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description
Boasting a very clever idea, the GE 26965GE3 lets you have a cordless phone in any room with an electrical outlet. Plug the base into a phone line, then plug the separate recharge cradle into an electrical outlet in any room in the house. The signal is relayed from the base, but the phone charges wherever you've plugged in the recharge cradle. The stylized silver phone can be customized by choosing from replacement "swap-tops" in red, blue, green, silver, and clear. If you use the clear swap-top, you can even slide a photo underneath for the ultimate customization.

Conversations are crisp, thanks to 900 MHz transmission and 32-channel autoscan for the clearest connection. The 10-number memory is perfect for frequently dialed friends. For those who subscribe to Caller ID services offered by most local carriers, the handset will store up to 40 names, numbers, and times, acting as a virtual telephone book for returning calls. Simply scroll through numbers using the backlit LCD on the handset to review, return calls, or erase. GE provides a one-year parts and labor warranty.

This was a great idea for a phone that solved my problem of being able to put a phone into a room where there was no phone jack. It is a clever looking phone that allows you to change the color of the faceplates.

I used this phone for 6 months - it worked just fine, my calls sounded pretty good. The phone would last about 2 days before I had to recharge it...

The problem I have with this phone is that I dropped it once -- and now it does not work. I have tried everything from recharging it for days to replacing the battery. Now I understand that it's my fault for dropping the phone - but I believe cordless phones whould be built sturdy enough to withstand the occasional drop or knock off the coffee table.

I've tried to contact the manufacturer, but received no response from them in trying to fix the phone or order a replacment part. My only recourse seems to be that I have to buy a new one...
